Keep styles

Every time i open pages, the default set of styles come up, but i use optima. I know how to change the default style to optima, but when i close and then open pages again, the style is changed back to using the helvetica font.
Is there any way of saving the styles so your styles come up every time you open pages?
Also, is there any way of changing where the document opens on your screen...(in the center instead of to a side)?
One last thing... is there a way of keeping the styles window open so that when u open a new document it is already there?
A lot of questions I know...please help!

Hello
Is there any way of saving the styles so your styles come up every time you open pages?
go to "Provide Pages Feedback" in the "Pages" menu, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait for iWork'09

  • Keeping styles when converting html to PDF

    Acrobat Professional 8.1.2, Word 11.42, PowerPC G5 Dual 2.7GHz 1.5Gb Ram, OS 10.4.11
I have been trying to save a word file to PDF with links that have been copied from my website.
Creating a PDF from word doesn't keep the links, to get around this I have saved it as html then create PDF from file in Acrobat. The links work fine but the styles like bold and centering on the page change, can anyone help me this problem.
    Thanks

The PDF Maker under OSX does not make the links live - nor does it
generate bookmarks. Acrobat 9 does not support the PDF Maker for the Mac
anymore (which is good to a degree since it has only confused issues).
    I would go Acrobat / Advanced / Document Processing / Links /
You can get Acrobat to generate the links if the text is correct

  • Drawing tools (pen, pencil, brush) wont keep style selection.

I can not seem to have any of the drawing tool (pen, pencil or brush) keep the stlye selection I assign to it.  I have to KEEP going back to the line I just drew selcet is and assign the stlye to it once again.  This makes for a VERY SLOW process/drawing.  Any ideas where I can adjust the settings so that the style STAYS on the tool when drawing?
    Many thanks!

Go to the Appearance Panel and from the flyout menu uncheck New Art Has Basic Appearance and that should solve your problem. If in the future you need this not to work this way rememeber to check it again.

  • Keep style sheets collapsed in CSS Panel CS6

Is there a way to open pages with style sheet rules collapsed and keep them collapsed. Everytime I open a page it expands all of the rules and I have to close them one by one. THX

    Thanks for your response
This is the first time I have tried DTSS. Like you I have sites that don't play well in design view so, for the most part  like you  I code manually, but I like to use display view to click on the element I am looking for to select it quickly rather than trawling through lines of code to find what I want to work on in code view.
I think you misunderstood my problem. In an arttached style sheet I have a style which is set to "display: none" bto hide jQuery tabs when JS is inaactive. When JS is atcive in the browser it dislays teh tabs Because in design view, JS is normally inactive the tabs are not be visible so I want a DTSS to set the tabs to "Display: inline" so I can see them while I work on on the page.
The problem is that the DTSS sits at the top of the cascade in the CSS panel and I can find no way to put it at the bottom of the cascade. Consequently, although I have "display: inline" in the DTSS, in my regular style sheet, which sits below the DTSS in the cascade,  I have "display: none", so the latter prevails and I can not see the tabe while I work in code/design view! So I can not click on the tabs in display view to get to ithem quckly in code view!
Not lethal but a nuisance. If anyone knows how to force DTSS to the bottom of the cascade so it is read last I would be very grateful for the informaton

  • Why can a MUCOW have border style,  but not Effects ?

I know this may be part of a feature request
As mucows are wrapped inside  DIV sections, is there any reason why you cannot use the Effects (Shadow / Bevel etc.)  It's just awkward having to always creating containing boxes to keep styles alined when it is possible on the parent div section through css.

Your line must be designated as the "primary" line, and his is the secondary. And late October 2009 would put your upgrade dates right where they are - October 2009 is ONE year and 8 months ago.
A nice rep MAY, MAY let you upgrade hubby's line early. You said you want the iPhone; you wouldn't be able to get that for your line on the early upgrade anyway (at least it wasn't happening when they first came out...) so here's what I would do . . .
Use your early upgrade to get the HTC for your husband. You will need to activate it briefly on your line to accept the Terms and Conditions, then go back to your old phone and give hubby the HTC.
When HIS upgrade comes up the end of June, go ahead and get the iPhone, activate it briefly on his line to accept the Terms and Conditions, then swap it over to your line.
You both get new phones, upgrade discounts will apply, and your dates will be within a couple of weeks of each other. He gets the Trophy, you get the iPhone.

  • DW-MX-04 Drop-down menus won't work.

I'm using Dreamweaver MX 2004 (have been for several years, so I know my way around it).  I want to create drop-down or fly-outs menu's to consolidate page links into categores in order to reduce the number of link tabs I have on each page.  I've been able to create the menu's I needed (using: Tag Chooser\ Behaviors\ Show Pop-U Menu), but when I preview the pages in IE, the text only shows on the mouseover text (not on top) despite having the text color set as black in the Menu window.  But it gets worse.  When I uploaded the page to try it, the drop down menus don't show up at all when I hover over the main buttons and  I get javascript errors.
Can anyone give me so assistance on how to resolve this?
I've checked the text color issue using the code view editing pane, and it matches the way I have it setup in the Pop-Up Menu.  But that's the least of my worries if I can't get them to work at all when the pages are live.
    Thanks...JEB

  • Importing a clean text in CS3

When I was with CS2, I had a Word macro that was cleaning my texts before importing it to InDesign. The resulting text was a Tagged Text, without any formatting. The work flow was simple: cleaning the Word files removing everything unnecessary (this was done with a powerful macro built over years), keeping only italic, super and subscript. Also keeping style tag when the document was well formed. Then saving it as a simple text file with the appropriate tagged text header. This work flow was so swift and saved me a lot of works.
With the venue of Word 2008, and InDesign CS3 I was facing a new challenge. My VBA macros didn't work any more and CS3 had trouble with importing tagged text (it seems to have been resolved since then). So I just imported my Word file with the «Removing style» option on and the flag «keep local overrides» checked.
However, this filter is annoying. Since we need usually to keep only italic, superscript and subscript in a text (and perhaps bold) (as in FrameMaker, by the way), I don't understand why this has not been implemented in InDesign so far.
Any idea, macros, on that subject?
Again, the task is simple: removing everything except the essential markers: italic, bold, sometimes styles, superscript and subscript.
In almost every importing task, this is what is needed.

well, I should be able to rebuild them in AppleScript, but there is a learning curve that I would have like to not climb ;-)
I'm just wondering why this simple task, so common in DTP has not been well implemented in InDesign...

  • How do you remove hyperlinks?

has "Numbers" received an update recently? maybe I missed it. but i can no longer remove hyperlinks from a cell.
I still want the URL there -- but in plain text format -- but i don't want a working hyperlink. I used to be able to left-click on the cell and a little box came up, where you could amend the text, and remove the link -- nice and easy.
But when you click on the link now, all it does is open up Safari and takes you straight to the page
I've highlighted the cell, the text, and searched through all the menus, but there doesn't seem to be any way to remove the hyperlink. All you can do is type the whole thing out again, which can take ages when you've got a long URL
    anyone got any ideas?

  • Creating rollover colors in fonts

Hi,  I'm new to CS5.  I've got 13 years on Hot Metal Pro V6.1 by SoftQuad, now out of business.  But, I've got one or two
    "beginner" type questions.
I need to make a short line of font light up from white to orange when I mouse over it.
I've seen the video demo of how to do it in Ill or Photoshop, but was wondering if there is a better or quicker way than
    going insert>insert objects>roll over Image.
Okay, I'm all out of stupid questions for the evening.
Thanks so much for you help.

  • Please explain CSS to me

So what's the difference between a Dreamweaver website which uses CSS and one which doesn't? What would the visual/practical differences be? I'm just trying to get a grasp of what it can do. Thanks.

Back in the old days of table-based layouts and HTML font and color tags, it would take weeks of manual hard coding to change the look of a web site.  Client doesn't like that one either, OK back to the board for another 3 weeks of tedious page-by-page code revisions.
Modern web design changed all that by keeping    styles (CSS) separate from content (HTML).  It's logical, efficient, makes for leaner, faster loading HTML documents.  And when design changes are needed in a hurry, it can be done by simply editing CSS code in a single physical file or external style sheet.
See the CSS Zen Garden.  Same HTML content on every page but totally different CSS styles.

  • IMovie text styles keep reverting to default

I've altered type styles in iMovie, finalized the video and exported to youtube without issue, but the next day, when I reopen the Project, some of the type styles have reverted to the default styles, and I have to restyle text. In some cases, I will copy a Project to create a variation of the video, and some of the old, default type styles will appear in the copy, even though the original is fine. There appears to be no way to manually save these changes permanently. It's causing me to delay delivery of a job. Any insights?

    Hi
    Do I know - NO - BUT I've a general approache
If iMovie used to behave in one way - then suddenly stops doing so e.g. after a Panic/Forced Halt (very common origin)
then most probably the iMovie pref. file got corrupted
this file contains settings as PAL or NTSC and other things that one want iMovie to keep till started next time. May be choice of font and size too.
Trach this iMovie pref file - and it will revert to factory settings - then set it at Your liking and it most probably will remain.
    • Delete iMovie pref. file
    iMovie pref. file resides.

( It can be done like this: Open Terminal, then enter: chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press return, then restart, and it will always be visible until the next major update, when you do the same thing again. )
    or - do like this.
On the Finder window at the top left of the screen,
Hold down the Option key and clicked on Go.
This allowed You to see the Library folder and select it.
Then keep the Option button pressed down in order to see and select the Library folder.
Once found it, You are able to navigate to the iMovie preferences file and move it to the trash.  iMovie then start’s up fine!
