Keep Tool Selected with Stamps
Since upgrading to Acrobat Version 9, I've been having a Stamps problem. I've created a number of custom stamps, and I have work processes where I am required to stamp every page of a several-hundred page document. When I had 8.0, I could mark the checkbox for "Keep Tool Selected" and then just alternate between Pg Down and left-click to apply the stamps in rapid succession. So far I have not been able to get version 9.0 to let me keep the tool selected. For each individual stamp I have to click on the toolbar, then where I want the stamp applied, then the tool bar, then where I want the next stamp applied, and so on, and so on... This is a lot of extra moving of the mouse that slows the process down tremendously. Is this a bug in 9.0, or am I missing a setting somewhere?
It took me a ridiculous amount of time to find the answer to this. I suppose it all has to do with the correct search terms. Select the tool (Stamp in this case), but don't use it yet. Click on View > Toolbars > Properties Bar. This is were you can select "Keep Tool Selected".
Hopefully this will help someone else who stumbles across this page and can't find the answer.

'Keep tool selected' in Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.10
Why can't I find 'Keep tool selected' for any of my markup tools in Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.10? I want to only once select the 'Draw arrow' tool for example and then draw as many arrows as possible. I DO NOT want to have to go back and select the arrow tool after each and every arrow I draw ... amazing.!!! I saw that in previous versions they had this toggle 'Keep tool selected' but now I cannot find in anywhere in acrobat xi pro 11.0.10, which to my knowledge is the latest.
Can anyone tell me where to find this or if not that then is there a workaround? Cos at the moment there's just say extra mileage on my cursor. Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't work for me. When I tick "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" and then close the document, then when I reopen it afterwards it only opens at the same page at which I closed it, but the Comments panel remains closed, so I need to reopen it again. That is what I was asking. Is there a way to have to Comments panel expanded every single time I open a PDF. "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" does not do that, at least as far as I see.

Is there really no way to keep the Typewriter Tool selected in v8.2.1?
Hello All:
I find it almost unbelievable that Adobe Acrobat Professional cannot keep the Typewriter Tool selected; is this possibly true?
I use many scanned formed that simply do not convert; I cannot make all of the entry fields text boxes. That wouldn't matter if the person completing the form could simply use the typewriter tool, as I am not looking to massage the data in any way. But to ask them to click on the Typewriter Tool after every single entry is ludicrous. Instead, they print out the forms and answer them in pen! (Kinda defeats the whole point.)
Is there any way to keep the Typewriter Tool selected?Have you checked the 'keep tool selected' checkmark in the Properties for the Typewriter tool? You have to do it after you have selected the Typewriter tool, but before you have actually used it.

CS5 Disable Picture Content Select with Selection Tool
I'm not sure if this was added in CS4, because I skipped CS4, but I know it wasn't there in CS3. With my Selection Tool (solid cursor), I can grab the contents of a picture box represented by circle mark that appears in the center of an image on mouse rollover. If I come close to it, I grab the picture, not the frame (what I don't want). But if I keep my selection closer to the edge, I select box and contents (what I want). How can I disable this feature? I have looked through my preferences to no avail. I mean, I thought that's what the Direct Selection Tool was for? If I want the contents selected, I use the hollow cursor. Why mess with that? Please tell me this can be disabled. It would make my day.
I did a search, but was hitting nothing. And I was looking in the wrong spot for it in the app.
You... have made my day. Thank you, thank you. -
Zooming whenever I double-click on any margin of pages with Hand Tool or Selection Tool selected
I have used Acrobat and recently upgraded it to Acrobat XI in order to use it with my tablet PC.
But whenever I double-click with my digitizer pen, with Hand tool or Selection Tool selected, on any margin of pages, it zooms in. i.e. it automatically magnifies itself as if I did the same thing with magnifying tool. This happens even when I try to double-click on the textboxes to edit it!
I don't want to zoom it all the time!!!Try switching off this setting: Edit - Preferences - General - Make hand
tool use mouse-wheel zooming. -
I recently upgraded our iMac to Yosemite OS and now have a problem with Photoshop Elements 11: the move tool selects an image or text layer, but then I try to drag the selection somewhere else on the page and it snaps back to the original location, however the arrows will move it OK. Also I cannot drag the selection to another photo in the photo bin as before.
Hi,
Please refer: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/pse-stops-responding-yosemite.html
Thanks,

I seem to have a problem with tool selection. System seems to be locked on the Hand tool can not select any other!
Quit the editor then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift. Keep holding the keys till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

Why is quick selection erasing my selection with second click?
I click the selection with my quick selection tool and then when I click again to continue selecting more, the second click starts removing my current selection. I know holding the "option" key removes my selection but I'm not holding down the "option" key. It just starts doing it when I do my second click and then continues removing even if I keep clicking. I just updated Photoshop but that did not help. I have Photoshop CC. Please help.
This is most likely caused by you having clicked the "Subtract from selection" button at some point in time, in the tool settings, see attached picture. If you have no selection when you start using the tool, it will create one, but as soon as there's a selection active the tool will start to Subtract. Every tool in PS remember it's settings! As Pierre suggests, resetting your tool will fix this or just by clicking the "New Selection" button. It can be a pretty good idea to reset your tools the first thing you do every day when starting a new work session to avoid this kind of problems.

I have a few languages installed, and Firefox's spellcheck seems to decide which language to use ''at random''. So I have to keep manually selecting the language I want. 99% of the time I want English. So how can I set English as a permanent default language, and leave the manual selection for those infrequent occasions when I want another language spellchecked?
Firefox should store the last used dictionary in the spellchecker.dictionary pref that you can check on the about:config page.

If you do not keep changes after a restart then see:
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Preferences+are+not+saved
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Text Entry No Longer Works - Controls Tool Selection Instead
Well here's a particularly peeving peculiarity!
Once upon a time, you could throw a text generator into the time-line, double click on it to bring it up in the viewer, click on the Properties tab and type your text into the entry field without problems.
Well, after a short time editing, the situation changes and subsequently it seems I can't do that. Instead, my keystrokes are routed to the tool selection palette or the FCP timeline itself.
This even extends as far as trying to change the names of Sequences or Clips in the Browser.
Subsequently, ALL keyboard input in FCP fails. No keystrokes are accepted at all, not even shuttling around in the timeline. Using the mouse in a menu to export a movie works and brings up the Export dialogue, but I can't type anything in the filename field.
I've tried trashing prefs, caches, logging in under a different user account, repairing permissions, lighting black candles and meditating upon mental images of Steve Jobs and nothing seems to work.
Back in the rest of the OS, say in the Finder, keyboard input is working fine.
The only FCP related information in the Console log is a failure to load a Filter bundle - which is odd because 5.1.4 is supposed to be specifically to fix filter errors:
Final Cut Pro[241] * -[NSBundle load]: Error loading code /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins/FxPlug/ExtraFilters.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ExtraFilters for bundle /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins/FxPlug/ExtraFilters.bundle, error code 4 (link edit error code 4, error number 0 (Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/ProCore.framework/Versions/A/ProCore
Referenced from: /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins/FxPlug/ExtraFilters.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ExtraFilters
Reason: image not found))
I have FCP installed on a laptop too and it seems the same symptoms occur there.
What gives? Is it time to reapply the latest FCP update? Do I have difficult to diagnose font problems? Must I sacrifice another virgin to the gods?
This is FCP 5.1.4 on 10.4.8Could it be ...?
Trying to solve this is as irritating as having a grain of sand lodged in a soft mucus membrane - but from such irritations oysters make pearls!
(Positive thinking. It stops me using the hammer...)
It seems, at the moment, that this problem is related to using older project files, those created before 5.1.4, with 5.1.4. You do seem to get an alert asking if you want to update the project but perhaps this update doesn't complete correctly.
I haven't had a lot of time to explore but it seems new projects created in 5.1.4 don't suffer this problem. -
Laptop mode tools problem with kernel 3.0
today I just updated the system and my laptop runs dramatically hotter after that. I read the archwiki, it does talk about the laptop mode tools problem with kernel 3.0 but when I opened the file /usr/sbin/laptop_mode, the lines which the wiki mentions are not there. Does anyone here have the same problem and can you offer the solution?

# This is a 2 phase locking approach. LMT_REQ_LOCK is the outer lock and LMT_INVOC_LOCK is the inner lock
# We take this approach to ensure the scenario that, "At any point when an event occurs (AC/BATT), the
# kernel can generate multiple events spanning over a couple of events. The first event is honored and
# lmt executes. If the last event triggered at the 9th second, there is a fair chance that a good amount

# handy, so that those changes can also be applied and not forgotten.
# Workflow:
# Event-1 is generated and lmt executes (lmt runtime could span 5-10 seconds)

esacI had the problem but edited the line in /usr/sbin/laptop_mode and it worked. But thoes lines are not there anymore. I guess they changed it at the recent update of laptop-mode-tools.
Regarding your heat problem; is there any other thing you use to cut down power usage (from AUR maybe)? I use acpi_call from AUR had to edit lines there aswell, but it should be updated by now. -
