Keepalive problem on CSS11506

Greeting
One of application which using my CSS has problem to work with my CSS11506 after the application upgrade.
It does not regconize CSS' keepalive check and give error "broken pipe" on the backend server. (it treat the keepalive traffic as session?)
The CSS configuration for the application is:
service dev-host1-2304
ip address 10.2.2.21
protocol tcp
port 2304
keepalive type tcp
keepalive port 2304
active
service dev-host2-2304

port 2304
keepalive type tcp
keepalive port 2304
active
content dev-2304
vip address 10.1.1.123
port 2304
protocol tcp
balance leastconn
add service dev-host1-2304
add service dev-host2-2304
active
the backend server error messages is:

Question:
1. Is it CSS's problem?
2. How can I configure keepalive for port 2304 to fix the error message? or how the application should configure to match with CSS11506?
Any comments will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

I have found what the application do is:
When you connect to port 2304 on the application server, if functional, the SocketServer service sends a banner:
RPY 0 0 . 0 246
Content-Type: application/beep+xml
http://xxxxx/xxxx/Profile' />http://xxx/xxx/TLS
' />http://xxxxxxx/xxxxProfile' />END
So, I need to script for receiving "END".
I have looked the script for socket:
kwd-css:julie(config)# socket ?
connect connect to a remote host
disconnect Disconnect a currently connected socket
inspect Inspect data received on a socket
receive Receive data through a socket
send Send a string of data to a remote host
waitfor Wait for a specific data string to be received through the
socket
css11506# socket receive ?
Socket number to send data through
Css11506# socket receive 1 ?
Execute command
Number of milliseconds to receive data (default 100ms)
raw Receive data in hexidecimal format (no ascii conversion)
css11506# socket receive 1 2000 ?
Execute command
raw Receive data in hexidecimal format (no ascii conversion)
css11506# socket receive 1 2000 raw ?
Execute command
it looks like there is no way to check if received is "END" or not?
Could you please advice?
1. To receive a banner, should I use keepalive tcp?
2. Do I need special the "socket receive" command
3. Does "socket receive" has a buffer or variable to store the banner, so I can check if the "END" is there?
Any comments will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

    Hi Granov,
collisions are a just normal part of the half-duplex CSMA/CD procedure, and are not considered errors at all.  They are just retried.  They are not considered errors until a packet suffers 16 of them in a row, and has to be discarded - known as "excessive collisions".
    1. Disable the keepalive with these commands:
    Switch#config t
    Switch(config)# int f0/20
    Switch(config-if)# no keepalive
    2. If you don't want to turn off loopback detection/shutdown, you should
definitely enable loopback recovery (off by default, requiring manual
    reset, an *awful* default!):
    errdisable recovery cause loopback
    errdisable recovery interval 60
    3. run no shut on the interface fa0/20

  • Scripted Keepalive Problem

I've run into an issue with a new scripted keepalive. I've created the script and copied it to a CSS11000. I can run the script manually and it works as expected, however when I add it to a service, it is not run. After the service is activated, the service shows down, and the following information is shown for the script:
    Script Error: None (suspended)
Script Run Time: Did not finish
I know I've run into similar issues when upgrading the CSS code. After restoring archived scripts within the new version, I'd have to reboot the CSS before I could use them in keepalives.
I'd prefer not to have to reboot my production switches if there is another way to get this to work.

    Thanks Gilles,
I am quite backlevel on this particular pair of CSS's. I loaded the newest code on a CSS in the lab and did not have this problem.
Looks like I need to schedule an upgrade for the production boxes.

  • CSS Keepalive Problem

Currently, I have two web server(A and B) with java engine running on top of the web server. It will give a error message "Internal error" if the java engine is mul-function. As such, CSS will detect that the Java engine of the web server(etc A) is down and thus detect that the service is down. We know that CSS can work on the idea that if certain strings are detected in the header/body, the service is consider alive, but is there anyway to state the reverse?

Could you clarify the problem you are having? It sounds like CSS is detecting the JAVA engine failure and re-directing to the other server so I’m not sure what you are running into.

  • PAP2 Firmware 5.1.6

Viatalk Support told me to upgrade my PAP2 Firmware to 5.1.6.  But when I look for it under PAP2 V1.0.. shows Firmware 3.1.22-LS 1/15/2007.  Please confirm my PAP2 will support Firmware 5.1.6.. and if it does.. where can I get it.

    Hello
    > Could call out. but people calling in.. phone would not ring and go straight to phonemail.
This is typical NAT "keepalive" problem. You shall consider enable NAT SUPPORTon your SPA/PAP device, and send the keepalive messages (like $INFO).
    > BTW.. Belkin Router intermittently browser connections will slow down. then finally all activity stops..not allowing browser to go to any URL.  Powering off and back on the router only fix it everytime.  Belkin is sending me a replacement.. the router I have.. has worked for years with no problems.. then started having the problem about a week ago.
This looks the same type of problem ... NAT mapping table on router becomes full, router will stop transfers ... reboot cleans the NAT mapping table.
Don't you remember any changes "a week ago" like connecting to p2p network (torrent, edonkey etc ...), or starting program like Skype (which can also become a "bridge" in the p2p net based on KAZAA) ... Those p2p-like networks tends to open "unlimitted" number of connections and typical SOHO router NAT devices aren't able to deal with that number of connections.

  • IPlanet  NSAPI -- problem with KeepAlive connections

    Hi
I have problems with following scenario:
When client establish KeepAlive connection with iPlanet server it sends one important custom header only on first request.
My goal is to implement filter that will add this header to all subsequent requests on this connections.
I can identify request by socket descriptor, but I don't know how to detect if this connection is still the same, or socket was closed and reused for other connection.
    Thanks, Andrew

It seems like you have to make sure your web application uses sessions in order to trace an interaction with your web app clients.
You should probably write either an NSAPI filter that would add your special header to all requests to a certain application(that should supports sessions) or a servlet filter that would do the same.

  • Problem managing keepalive with sockets

Hello friends, I am finding difficulty to manage keepalives in my socket-based client/server app. Please help.
I want to set a socket timeout so that the connection is closed by server after a set inactivity time. Theoretically, this is a cakewalk, because I can setSoTimeout on the socket. I set it to 30 min. This works fine in my local machine. But after I deploy the server on the remote machine (OS Linux Redhat), the soTimeout setting doesn't work. Client stops responding after about 5 minutes of inactivity. My problem is why this is happening and how can I solve this.
The code I am using is like this:
Socket  socket = ...;//obtain socket somehow
    InputStream in = socket.getInputStream();
    try{
      socket.setSoTimeout(30*60*1000);
      String fromClient = in.readLine();//blocking read
      //..do something with the message
    catch(Exception e){
      System.out.println(e);
}When the connection goes dead (after about 5 min), no exception is caught at the above catch clause, why?
My guess is that a socket timeout of 5 min is set somewhere in the host machine, but if it is so, I have no idea where to check and how to reset. If the solution lies on the Linux side rather than on the Java side, ideally I would like to set a timeout value per socket (per app basis) so that my setting would not mess with other apps.
As an alternative, the client can be programmed (but have not tried yet) to send a dummy message every 2 or 3 min to keep the connection alive. But doing so would keep connection alive for ever, which I don't want.
What options are available to me?

the socket get disconnected once when there is no reply from the client ,so your time out won't work in case there is no reply from client , program such a way that a dummy conversation occurs between the client and server ,when there is no actual conversation ,then the timeout could work for you.

    Hi there.
Certs and keys are stored under c:/CertStore/ssl/
To access you must go in debug mode:
    "llama" to enter debug mode
Once you are in llama mode, you can try to delete the file with command:
    ap_file delete c:/CertStore/ssl/aaaRSAkey.pem
    Hope this helps.

  • CSS and Extended Passive FTP problem.

    Hi everyone.
I'm having a problem setting up a load balanced cluster of FTP servers behind a CSS 11506.
I can FTP into the cluster fine. I am redirected to one of the machines in a round robin fashion and can log in. The problem arises on mac's where typing in an ls command returns this:
    ftp> ls
229 Entering Extended Passive Mode (|||32999|)
    200 EPRT command successful
421 Service not available, remote server timed out. Connection closed
Now, if I type in the EPSV command and disable Extended Passive Mode prior to connecting to it, it works fine.
Also, connecting to any of the servers directly with epsv enabled works fine as well.
We have over 800k hits per month and telling everyone to disable epsv will be a problem. Is there a way to enable extended passive mode through the css?

    EPSV is not supported.
The only workaround available to load balance passive ftp servers is to use "PASV" command instead of "EPSV" on clients.

  • Page lookups slower when use css11506?!

I have configured one armed test load balancing for L4 (http) as below:
    service web-test1
    ip address 10.10.10.253
    keepalive type tcp
    keepalive port 8100
    active
    service test2
    ip address 10.10.10.254
    keepalive type tcp
    keepalive port 8100
    active
    owner WEB-Farm
    content http-test
    vip address 10.10.1.56
    add service web-test1
    add service web-test2
    balance aca
    port 8100
    protocol tcp
    active
    group http-test-group
    vip address 10.10.1.56
    add destination service web-test1
    add destination service web-test2
    active
Our test result shows it slow than just software load balancing on http server.
Please confirm if my configuration is right?
If so, is one arm configuration will slow the lookup speed?
if not, what is the problem can be? and how to deb the problem?
    Any comment will be appreciated
    Thanks in advance

    Great thanks for the reply.
it is a new setupped test environment.
    The test staff said:
I did notice some strange behaviour that may/may not be related to this problem. The test going through the CISCO switch took a very long time to 'ramp-up' it processing - i.e. it was about 25-30 minutes of basically very slow processing and then later on it sped up.
Is possible I need change some option?
Is possible there is spanning tree problem?
It is not routing problem because the box is configured static routing ( all to next hop - cisco route)
It hardly to belive it is web server problem, because the test use same servers for both tests, that is load balance thought css11506 and thought a software resident inside one of web server.
Why it is slow at first half hour and than it sped up?

  • Microsoft sharepoint 2007 behind cisco CSS11506

    Greating
I have problem to let sharepoint 2007 work with css11506.
The sharepoint configure to use load balancing, configure something they called reverse proxy. and they insiste the configuration is working other environmento such as ISC.
However, we used as below configuration, and it insists to change https to http when user login.
I have searched internet for this issue, and find cisco some solution for ACE but no css11500.
Could anyone advice me if css11506 can handle this problem? if so, how to?
    the configuration is below:

I can access my servers just fine, but when issuing the 'show flows' command, I do not see my traffic... even though I can see my hit counters incrementing.
NOTE: The 'application ssl' command is something new for us, so I thought it may be related to this.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    -Adam

    Gilles,
The target IP is the content VIP 123.123.130.222 (as shown in my CSS config). However, I am testing from one of the four servers (services) associated with this content rule. Could that be causing the problem with the CSS not seeing these flows?
    For example...
I am sitting on server uswrnsa0ptf01 and I test to the content VIP 123.123.130.222... and it works... but I see know flows in the CSS.
I've attached a drawing showing our network topology.
    Thanks,
    -Adam

  • Problem With httpd.conf and mod_rewrite rules Apache 2.2

I have some RewriteRules that are working on my Leopard Client Apache 2.2 machine - but when I try to implement them on Leopard Server Apache 2.2, they don't work. I don't get any errors, they just won't execute.
Could somebody with Leopard Server help me out using the below info?
Here are the rules I am trying to add: (below is the httpd.conf file)

    =========HTTPD.CONF=============
    #### Default httpd.conf for Mac OS X Server, Apache 2.2
    #### This httpd.conf differs from the httpd.conf distributed
    #### with Apache and the httpd.conf present on Mac OS X.
    #### Feel free to edit this; the Server Admin app also edits this file but will
    #### respect your changes unless noted below. See also ReadMe.txt.
    ## ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
    ## configuration, error, and log files are kept.
    ## NOTE! If you intend to place this on an NFS (or otherwise network)
    ## mounted filesystem then please read the LockFile documentation
    ## (available at <URL:<a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://www.apache.org/docs/mod/core.html#lockfile>);
    ## you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
    ## Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.
    ServerRoot "/usr"
    ## PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process
    ## identification number when it starts.
    PidFile /var/run/httpd.pid
    ## ScoreBoardFile: File used to store internal server process information.
    ## Not all architectures require this. But if yours does (you'll know because
    ## this file will be created when you run Apache) then you must ensure that
    ## no two invocations of Apache share the same scoreboard file.
    #ScoreBoardFile "/var/run/apache2runtimestatus"
    ## Server-pool size regulation. Rather than making you guess how many
    ## server processes you need, Apache dynamically adapts to the load it
    ## sees --- that is, it tries to maintain enough server processes to
    ## handle the current load, plus a few spare servers to handle transient
    ## load spikes (e.g., multiple simultaneous requests from a single
    ## Netscape browser).
    ## It does this by periodically checking how many servers are waiting
    ## for a request. If there are fewer than MinSpareServers, it creates
    ## a new spare. If there are more than MaxSpareServers, some of the
    ## spares die off. The default values are probably OK for most sites.
    MinSpareServers 1
    MaxSpareServers 1
    ## Number of servers to start initially --- should be a reasonable ballpark
    ## figure.
    StartServers 1
    ## MaxRequestsPerChild: the number of requests each child process is
    ## allowed to process before the child dies. The child will exit so
    ## as to avoid problems after prolonged use when Apache (and maybe the
    ## libraries it uses) leak memory or other resources. On most systems, this
    ## isn't really needed, but a few (such as Solaris) do have notable leaks
    ## in the libraries. For these platforms, set to something like 10000
    ## or so; a setting of 0 means unlimited.
    ## NOTE: This value does not include keepalive requests after the initial
    ## request per connection. For example, if a child process handles
    ## an initial request and 10 subsequent "keptalive" requests, it
    ## would only count as 1 request towards this limit.
    MaxRequestsPerChild 100000
    ## Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) Support
    ## To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you
    ## have to place corresponding `LoadModule' lines at this location so the
    ## directives contained in it are actually available before they are used.
    ## Please read the file http://httpd.apache.org/docs/dso.html for more
    ## details about the DSO mechanism and run `httpd -l' for the list of already
    ## built-in (statically linked and thus always available) modules in your httpd
    ## binary.
    ## Note: The order in which modules are loaded is important. Don't change
    ## the order below without expert advice.
    ## Example:
    ## LoadModule foo_module libexec/mod_foo.so

    # Settings for hosting different languages.
    # Required modules: mod_mime, mod_negotiation
    # DefaultLanguage and AddLanguage allows you to specify the language of
    # a document. You can then use content negotiation to give a browser a
    # file in a language the user can understand.
    # Specify a default language. This means that all data
    # going out without a specific language tag (see below) will
    # be marked with this one. You probably do NOT want to set
    # this unless you are sure it is correct for all cases.
    # * It is generally better to not mark a page as
    # * being a certain language than marking it with the wrong
    # * language!
    # DefaultLanguage nl
    # Note 1: The suffix does not have to be the same as the language
    # keyword --- those with documents in Polish (whose net-standard
    # language code is pl) may wish to use "AddLanguage pl .po" to
    # avoid the ambiguity with the common suffix for perl scripts.
    # Note 2: The example entries below illustrate that in some cases
    # the two character 'Language' abbreviation is not identical to
    # the two character 'Country' code for its country,
    # E.g. 'Danmark/dk' versus 'Danish/da'.
    # Note 3: In the case of 'ltz' we violate the RFC by using a three char
    # specifier. There is 'work in progress' to fix this and get
    # the reference data for rfc1766 cleaned up.
    # Catalan (ca) - Croatian (hr) - Czech (cs) - Danish (da) - Dutch (nl)

I am modifying the correct httpd.conf file on the server, it just doesn't seem to work. - If I put the rewrite rules in the <Directory /> the rewrite works but it adds /Library/WebServer/Documents to the URL.
I also tried putting the rewrite rules in <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> but that did not work either.
mod_rewrite is enabled and running on the server.
I will post the rewrite rules again in the code brackets. Sorry for the long post. - If some one can try them out on their Leopard Server to see if they can get them to work, it would be much appreciated. Again, these work on my Leopard Client but I can't get them to work on Server.

It seems to be somehting like a rights problem...but I dont know what to do.

    Hi joshman,
no I didn't get error messages as the relevant lines for reading/writing where between try statements, but you were where right it was/is just a simple path problem.
I expected the refering directory without using a path to be the directory where the servlet is in, but it is not !!??
Do you know if I set this in the setclasspath.bat of tomcat ?
    *** set JAVA_ENDORSED_DIRS=%BASEDIR%\bin;%BASEDIR%\common\lib ***
    thanks again

  • Problem with htmldb 2 (Sorry APEX)!

I installed htmldb 2 on a windows XP, Oracle 10gR1 (which has enhanced by companion CD downloaded form Oracle's site). Everything went OK but when I want to connect to it by this url: http://localhost:7777/pls/htmldb it takes my username, pass but says:
    "Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
Oracle-HTTP-Server/1.3.28 Server at localhost Port 7777"
I noticed many differences between my installed Apache and documents of htmldb. I run a 9.0.4.0.0 Apache server and the dads.conf and httpd.conf are as following:
    # ============================================================================
    # mod_plsql DAD Configuration File

    # 1. Please refer to dads.README for a description of this file

    # Note: This file should typically be included in your plsql.conf file with
    # the "include" directive.
    # Hint: You can look at some sample DADs in the dads.README file

    # Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
    # This is the main Apache server configuration file. It contains the
    # configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
    # See <URL:http://www.apache.org/docs/> for detailed information about
    # the directives.
    # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
    # what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
    # consult the online docs. You have been warned.
    # After this file is processed, the server will look for and process
    # E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache/conf/srm.conf and then E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache/conf/access.conf
    # unless you have overridden these with ResourceConfig and/or
    # AccessConfig directives here.
    # The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:
    # 1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a
    # whole (the 'global environment').
    # 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
    # which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
    # These directives also provide default values for the settings
    # of all virtual hosts.
    # 3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to
    # different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the
    # same Apache server process.
    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
    # server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do not begin
    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache/logs/foo.log".
    # NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
    # instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
    # If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which Apache.exe is located
    # will be used by default. It is recommended that you always supply
    # an explicit drive letter in absolute paths, however, to avoid
    # confusion.
    ### Section 1: Global Environment
    # The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache,
    # such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it
    # can find its configuration files.
    # ServerType is either inetd, or standalone. Inetd mode is only supported on
    # Unix platforms.
    ServerType standalone
    # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
    # configuration, error, and log files are kept.
    # Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.
    ServerRoot "E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache"
    # PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process
    # identification number when it starts.
    PidFile logs/httpd.pid
    # ScoreBoardFile: File used to store internal server process information.
    # Not all architectures require this. But if yours does (you'll know because
    # this file will be created when you run Apache) then you must ensure that
    # no two invocations of Apache share the same scoreboard file.
    ScoreBoardFile logs/httpd.scoreboard
    # In the standard configuration, the server will process httpd.conf (this
    # file, specified by the -f command line option), srm.conf, and access.conf
    # in that order. The latter two files are now distributed empty, as it is
    # recommended that all directives be kept in a single file for simplicity.
    # The commented-out values below are the built-in defaults. You can have the
    # server ignore these files altogether by using "/dev/null" (for Unix) or
    # "nul" (for Win32) for the arguments to the directives.
    #ResourceConfig conf/srm.conf
    #AccessConfig conf/access.conf
    # Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out.
    Timeout 300
    # SendBufferSize: controls setsockopt() call made to set send buffer size on
    # all sockets. Default OS value on most Windows platforms is too small.
    # Larger values can help if the average page size served by OHS is
    # large (~64 k)
    SendBufferSize 16384
    # KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than
    # one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.
    KeepAlive On
    # MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow
    # during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.
    # We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.
    MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
    # KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the
    # same client on the same connection.
    KeepAliveTimeout 15
    # Apache on Win32 always creates one child process to handle requests. If it
    # dies, another child process is created automatically. Within the child
    # process multiple threads handle incoming requests. The next two
    # directives control the behaviour of the threads and processes.
    # MaxRequestsPerChild: the number of requests each child process is
    # allowed to process before the child dies. The child will exit so
    # as to avoid problems after prolonged use when Apache (and maybe the
    # libraries it uses) leak memory or other resources. On most systems, this
    # isn't really needed, but a few (such as Solaris) do have notable leaks
    # in the libraries. For Win32, set this value to zero (unlimited)
    # unless advised otherwise.
    # NOTE: This value does not include keepalive requests after the initial
    # request per connection. For example, if a child process handles
    # an initial request and 10 subsequent "keptalive" requests, it
    # would only count as 1 request towards this limit.
    MaxRequestsPerChild 0
    # Number of concurrent threads (i.e., requests) the server will allow.
    # Set this value according to the responsiveness of the server (more
    # requests active at once means they're all handled more slowly) and
    # the amount of system resources you'll allow the server to consume.
    ThreadsPerChild 50
    # Server-pool size regulation. Rather than making you guess how many
    # server processes you need, Apache dynamically adapts to the load it
    # sees --- that is, it tries to maintain enough server processes to
    # handle the current load, plus a few spare servers to handle transient
    # load spikes (e.g., multiple simultaneous requests from a single
    # Netscape browser).
    # It does this by periodically checking how many servers are waiting
    # for a request. If there are fewer than MinSpareServers, it creates
    # a new spare. If there are more than MaxSpareServers, some of the
    # spares die off. The default values are probably OK for most sites.
    #MinSpareServers 5
    #MaxSpareServers 20
    # Limit on total number of servers running, i.e., limit on the number
    # of clients who can simultaneously connect --- if this limit is ever
    # reached, clients will be LOCKED OUT, so it should NOT BE SET TOO LOW.
    # It is intended mainly as a brake to keep a runaway server from taking
    # the system with it as it spirals down...
    #MaxClients 150
    # Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
    # ports, in addition to the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
    # directive.
    #Listen 3000
    #Listen 12.34.56.78:80
    # BindAddress: You can support virtual hosts with this option. This directive
    # is used to tell the server which IP address to listen to. It can either
    # contain "*", an IP address, or a fully qualified Internet domain name.
    # See also the <VirtualHost> and Listen directives.

    # Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) Support
    # To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you
    # have to place corresponding `LoadModule' lines at this location so the
    # directives contained in it are actually available before they are used.
    # Please read the file README.DSO in the Apache 1.3 distribution for more
    # details about the DSO mechanism and run `apache -l' for the list of already
    # built-in (statically linked and thus always available) modules in your Apache
    # binary.
    # Note: The order in which modules are loaded is important. Don't change
    # the order below without expert advice.

    ### Section 2: 'Main' server configuration
    # The directives in this section set up the values used by the 'main'
    # server, which responds to any requests that aren't handled by a
    # <VirtualHost> definition. These values also provide defaults for
    # any <VirtualHost> containers you may define later in the file.
    # All of these directives may appear inside <VirtualHost> containers,
    # in which case these default settings will be overridden for the
    # virtual host being defined.
    # Port: The port to which the standalone server listens. Certain firewall
    # products must be configured before Apache can listen to a specific port.

    ### Section 3: Virtual Hosts
    # VirtualHost: If you want to maintain multiple domains/hostnames on your
    # machine you can setup VirtualHost containers for them. Most configurations
    # use only name-based virtual hosts so the server doesn't need to worry about
    # IP addresses. This is indicated by the asterisks in the directives below.
    # Please see the documentation at <URL:http://www.apache.org/docs/vhosts/>
    # for further details before you try to setup virtual hosts.
    # You may use the command line option '-S' to verify your virtual host
    # configuration.
    # Use name-based virtual hosting.
    #NameVirtualHost *
    #NameVirtualHost 12.34.56.78:80
    #NameVirtualHost 12.34.56.78
    # VirtualHost example:
    # Almost any Apache directive may go into a VirtualHost container.
    # The first VirtualHost section is used for requests without a known
    # server name.
    #<VirtualHost *>

    # This directive identifies each remote apache instance that will be
    # sending requests to processes (e.g., JServs), managed by local Apache
    # instances. This directive is used by the local process manager to share
    # routing information with remote apache instances via non-SSL HTTP messages.
    # The directive is repeated for each remote apache instance that will be
    # sending requests. The ProcNode directive that refers to the local apache
    # instance will be ignored, but may be supplied to facilitate uniformity
    # in configuration across apache instances. Arguments to the ProcNode must
    # be sufficient to reach the remote instance of apache via non-SSL HTTP
    # messages. It is not considered an error if the remote apache instance is
    # unreachable, as no assumption is made about the starting order or
    # availability of apache instances.

Firstly, there's no such thing as Apache 9.3, there's Apache 1 (and subversions) and Apache 2 (and subversions). Your error message -
    Oracle-HTTP-Server/1.3.28Shows you're using Apache 1.3.28
Secondly, I'm confused by your comment -
I do not have Apache 9.3 or higher but I think oracle should offer this in its companion CDOracle does offer the Apache server, if you're saying you didn't get it from Oracle then where did your Apache server come from?
Thirdly, I notice from your config file -
ErrorLog "|E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache\bin\rotatelogs logs/error_log 43200"That you're piping the logs through rotatelogs, are you sure the logfiles haven't just been renamed?
