Keeping 1 photo selected for printing AFTER editing

I still haven't adapted comfortably to iPhoto '08, because it's hard to change one of my iPhoto habits. Previously, after selecting a photo to edit, I'd click DONE and then go straight to File>Export or File>Print to output the edited photo. With iPhoto '08, no photo is selected after clicking DONE, but my habit is still to go straight to File>Export or File>Print anyway. Only after the export or print process begins, with a report that iPhoto has 86 photos to transfer, do I remember that iPhoto 08 acts as if the entire album or event has been selected after an Edit session--even if I only edited a single photo.
Software design should be incremental, not decremental, for the workflow to become more efficient. I think Apple knows this, so it must be something I'm overlooking. A preference setting, maybe? Can anyone offer a suggestion so that I don't waste more time (and photo paper and photo ink) having to reverse an ingrained habit? I'm a semipro photographer and this habit has been established over several years and versions of iPhoto, with thousands of images. Photoshop is great for only a portion of my photos...iPhoto can do the basics better and faster.
Thanks for any helpful suggestions.

I hardly ever use the Events mode, but I tried it just now. The yellow selection box stays after editing in Events mode, so it works there.
I went back into Photos mode, double-clicked on a photo to edit, just clicked Done without doing any editing, and the single photo stayed selected. It's when I actually do something (rotate, enhance, straighten, adjust, etc.) that clicking Done gets me back to the thumbnails without the yellow selection box.
The more I think about it, the more I think the iPhoto app and/or one of its components has gotten corrupted. Now, if I can only find my iLife '08 DVD to re-install iPhoto, I'll let you know what happens. In the meantime, I'm going to try removing preferences to see if the problem lies in a plist file somewhere.
Thanks for the great ideas! Appreciated.

  • Printing after editing

I'm still very new to "iPhoto 5" and can not figure out or find in "iPhoto" "Help" how to print or e-mail a picture that I have edited! Should I make a dupicate of the edited picture and then print that? When I click on the "dupicate" option where will the dupicate picture show up?
    Please help! Thank you, "msmyssti"

    Hello Monika,
You do not need to duplicate your photos for printing or emailing.
To print your edited photo: Go to top menu bar, File->Page setup. A new window will drop down for you to select the 'Format for' and 'Paper size' Click OK to close the window.
Then, File->Print. Another window will drop down. Be sure your printer is selected for 'Printer' then select what you want for 'presets' and 'style' and select the number of copies you wish to have.
If you are not sure, just use plain paper and experiment with different settings so that you know what your printer will do and how the iPhoto settings will work.
To send a photo via email Follow these directions From iPhoto Help:
1.Select the photo or photos you want to mail.
Note: You can't email photos from a slideshow or book.
    2.Choose Share > Email.
3.Choose a size in pixels for your emailed photos from the Size pop-up menu.
4.Choose whether to include titles and comments.
    5.Click Compose.
iPhoto opens a New Message window in Mac OS X Mail with the photo or photos attached. (If you want to mail photos using Entourage, Eudora, or AOL, install the application on your computer, choose iPhoto > Preferences, click General at the top of the Preferences window, and then choose the application from the "Mail using" pop-up menu.)
6.Enter an address, a subject line, and the text of the message, then click Send.
IMPORTANT: If you send many large photos in a message, it will take longer for people to download it. It's a good idea to limit the size and number of photos you send.
If you make a duplicate of your photo, you will find it right next to the original photo in your library. If you are working in an album, the duplicate is put as the last photo in the album.

how do i get my photos back on usb after editing. i used export but after checking my photos were not back on usb?

You're really going to need to explain that. What's "USB"? Do you mean a Disk, Drive or volume connected by USB? How is your iphoto set up? What version are you using?

    Dear:
Check whether you have selected the relevant tax types for invoice posting while posting the vendor invoice. If its correct then Vendor Master data, Section/Business Place code Address data. Check tables in SE11
    J_1IEWT_CERT_N
    J_1IEWTCALID_N
    J_1IEWTNUMGR_N
In these tables section codes might have been maintained directly. Please check these for any discrepancies.

  • Using photo cartridge for printing documents

I have been going through a lot of black cartridges. The reason is that my printer uses the small photo cartridge instead of the bigger black one. How can I set my printer up to print from the bigger black cartridge instead of the photo one?

    Hi Selig,
Thanks for posting you issue on forum,
From what i understand you would like to Print use black ink only instead of photo black.
You have an option under the printer driver which says Black ink only, by selecting that you will not be able to print color. On most cases this should help you use the black cartridge over the photo black.
If you have to print color you might need to change this option,
I dont have the printer over here but the steps are from best of my knowledge.
Go to Control Panel>> Devices and Printers>> Highlight Printer>>Right click on Printer and click Printing Preferences.
Click on Advance>>click on the drop down for Print in Greyscale and select Black Ink only
with newer driver we have this option under Printing Preferences>>Paper/Quality tab and under Quality settings.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
Say thanks by clicking the "Kudos! Star" which is on the left

  • When i try to print a photo: select file print a box comes up stating ' no available themes' ' there were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed this feature will be unavailable. ? My iPhoto and hp printer software is up to date.

When i try to print a photo: select photo>file>print a box comes up stating 'no available themes' ' There were no themes located. Until at least 1 theme has been installed this feature will be unavailable'. Mac OS X/10.8.3, iPhoto 9.4.3, HP printer driver up to date. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    YOu need to reinstall iPhoto.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Photo select for sharing

Photo app selects the next photo to be shared instead of the one you selected.
    1. You view one photo.
2. Bring up the sharing options.
    3. The photo you selected is changed to the next photo. Annoying.
    On iOS 8 iPhone 5S.

I think you are under impression that your wife can share photos, or make changes to your photostream. When IOS 7 comes out this fall that would be an option. At that point in order for her to share pictures with you she HAS  to create and share photostream as well. That is what was missing from your description. That is if I am correct.

  • Photo Icons Not Changing After Editing  - Help!

    Hello,
I recently upgraded to Lion and just like Snow Leopard the photo icons have white borders around them, which is fine. The problem is that even after editing the photos in both Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5, the icons don't change by removing the white border like they used to in Snow Leopard. If I turn off the show icon preview, the icons don't show the image of course, but still don't change after editing. I liked being able to tell which ones I had already edited and which ones I still needed to edit. Can anyone help me with this? Maybe I have some setting I need to change? I want the icon to change after editing by either showing the picture or showing the picture w/o border like it used to. Thanks!

On your Mac disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • IPhoto - uploading photo books for printing

iPhoto crashes when trying to upload a Photobook for printing...driving me mad!
    any ideas follks.
The Photobook assembles, but wont upload.
    Thanks in advance..

This was an excellent suggestion previewing the book at
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 -
and then booting up the computer in safe mode. When I did this I found that several of the fonts had changed and would have ruined the book as they were too big or small or didn't fit the text boxes. I repeated this process until I was satisfied. The pdfs were fine.
Best of all the book was printed exactly as I laid it out.
Apple's turnaround was amazing: just over a week! Really good for getting a book to a small West Coast island in Canada.
Even though Apple's book production is very good it is limited in layouts for each style. BLURB offers a bigger range of layout options as well as a choice of printing papers which is a nice touch. I didn't use them this time because some posters had had delays in getting their books and I had to meet an birthday deadline.
Kudos to Apple for making the book in such a short time.

  • IPhoto 11 closes when I try to print after editing a photo

I can print a photo as it is in iPhoto 11 but if I edit a photo, example remove red eye, and then try to print iPhoto closes itself.  I get the message that iPhoto closed unexpectedly.  Anybody have a fix for this ?

I upgraded Yosemete my Iphoto was upgraded I chose the wrong library, apparently I have more than one, so I followed the directions on the upgrade  and no luck I cannot open my Iphotos unless I go through the search mode and find the file, otherwise it will not let me switch between libraries...So frustrating on a mac less than a year old GRRRR!

  • Why does the size of my photos reduce to 0mb after editing in iPhoto?

Please bear with me here.  I am a new Mac user (MacBook Pro, 2008, OSX 10.7.5), as well as not the most technologically competent person in the world, so I might need a little patience and additional questions to help me understand everything!
After a recent trip to Europe, I imported photos that I had taken with two different cameras into iPhoto ('09, version 8.1.2).  All the photos that I took with my Canon Rebel t2i DSLR have not had the problem I'm about to describe, in the past or with photos from this trip.  The problem has been only from pictures that I took and uploaded from my husband's Nikon Coolpix L610 point and shoot.  Not sure if this will matter, but the mode I was shooting in was 16M (4608x3456) which appears to be the "best" quality for this camera.
As I was going through my photos and editing them (mostly minor edits, cropping, straightening, enhancing, altering the sharpness/exposure/definition/saturation), I noticed the size of my photos decreasing, as described in the information box in the lower left hand corner of the screen.  With at least 30+ pictures of the ones I have tried editing (this isn't counting the hundreds more that I have yet to start editing), the file size dropped to 0MB, some after one edit as simple as straightening, others taking 2 or more minor edits to drop to 0.  The picture is still there in the multiphoto view (in Photos section under Library), but if I try to click on the picture to view it larger, it just shows up as a black screen.
For example, one picture I have showed a size of 4608 x 3456 and 7.6 MB.  When I did one edit (enhance photo), the 4608 x 3456 stayed the same, but the 7.6MB changed to 0KB.  For others, it will decrease some with one edit, then drop down to 0 if I do additional edits.  Most of my pictures are in the 4-10MB range in their original form (no edits).  I'm assuming that I was shooting in jpeg mode, since that's what they uploaded as.  (I've read on here of other people shooting in RAW mode and such, but I don't even think this camera has that capability).  I read some other boards with similar questions, but not the exact same problem as I'm facing.  I know that there is "jpeg compression" with jpeg files when editing.
So I guess my question is this:  Is there anything I can do to stop this reduction down to 0?  I will only be printing out a few of these pictures, and most in a 4x6 or 5x7 size.  I'm more concerned with being able to post them to Facebook for my family, who lives far away.  When the file size is 0KB, it won't upload because it doesn't even register as there being a picture and if I try it anyway, it gives me an error message, something along the lines of not supporting this format (or something similar, has been a couple days since I last tried).
I read something one of the similar boards that mentioned saving the edited photos as TIFF files, but it also mentioned that that takes up a lot more disk space, which I'm not sure if I want to (or have the space to) do.  (Side question:  If I did check the box in Preferences --->Advanced "Save edits as 16-bit TIFF files, would that do that to every picture in my library that I have edited?)
As I said, I'm new to this whole Mac stuff (been using it for just under a year, given to me by my brother-in-law after my computer died), so please use as much layman lingo as possible!  And thank you in advance for anyone that can give me any insight and/or advice!

None of my pictures that I uploaded into iPhoto are in my Finder under Pictures.  Should I copy and paste my folders from iPhoto into here, in case something happens to my iPhoto program (in addition to backing them up onto an external hard drive like I already do)?
No, that's just wasting space.  A back up needs to be on a different disk.
Your photos are within the iPhoto Library.
