Keeping a number without a physical line

I am moving into rented accommodation in the same exchange area, and would like to keep my present number.  But the owners of the rented house want to keep their number too.  Is it possible for me to retain my number temporarily and receive calls on this new line?  How - by using Call Divert, for example?

Hi
I have a number of virtual numbers that use the voice over IP technology.
There are many company's that offer voip, mine runs like a PAYG mobile inso far as I put £10 on my account and every call I receive that is diverted to my mobile costs around 10p a call. I pay no line rental as there is no physical line. If you have trouble sourcing a company send me an personal message and I can give you more details.

  • Keep sprint number without breaking contract?

    I received an iPhone for Christmas and figured it would be great timing because my Sprint contract expires in just a few days (the beginning of January). I have been a sprint member and have had the same phone number for the past four or five years. I know that I can keep my current phone number and transfer it to AT&T, but I've heard a lot of conflicting information. Most people are telling me that I have to cancel my sprint contract in order to keep the number. Others are saying wait till it runs out and you will still be able to use the number. I'm not sure what to do--is there any way to transfer my current phone number to a new AT&T account WITHOUT breaking my sprint contract? Will letting the contract expire still allow me to have the number? Like I said, it's up in a few days anyway and there's no way I want to pay $200 to break it.

    You can port your number prior to the end of your contract, you must call Sprint and ask for a new number and let them know that your are porting your current number and that you are trying to do a change of responsibilty on the current service, you have 60 days to find a new customer, but if you don't find a new customer no big deal since your contract will expire before the 60 day period.

  • What is the best way to untangle myself from my parent's phone plan while keeping my number?

    I know what I would like to accomplish I just need to figure out the correct steps to take. So the situation at present is that I have a line which is tied to my parents Verizon account that I would like to take over. However, I do not wish to alter my parents plan since they are grandfathered in for an unlimited data plan. Additionally, I am trying to start a new plan with my fiancé who does not currently have Verizon phone.
    I have a series of questions so the answer to any of them would be greatly appreciated.
    1)  If do an assumption of liability for the line I currently use will it terminate my parents contract or result in any fees being charged to their account? Will they still have the same plan text, talk, data limitations? Will removing my line from their plan result in a price change for them (since it will be one less line on the plan) or will it remain the same because the plan they are enrolled in is no longer available?
    2) If I assume liability for the line does that count as initiating a new 2-year contract? If it does can I add a new line to the plan at that point? I’m also curious if I’m I eligible for the new 2-year contract pricing on a new phone if I assume liability for the line?
    3) Is my life going to be infinitely easier if we both just ditch our old numbers? Might it be a better (or even possible) alternative to get a new plan with 2 lines and port our old numbers? (Keeping in mind I don’t want to mess with my parents plan) For instance essentially trading the phone number I use on my parents line for whatever number is assigned the new plan I sign up for? And is it an incorrect assumption that my fiancé can keep her old number from Straight Talk?

Will removing my line from their plan result in a price change for them (since it will be one less line on the plan) or will it remain the same because the plan they are enrolled in is no longer available? The AOL will not result in any additional fees on your parents plan, and will simply remove your line, leaving the rest of their plan intact.  The cost of your line will be dropped, as it is no longer part of the plan.  If they still have the unlimited data, then it sounds like the Nationwide plan, so your line would be either $10 or $10 + $30 if you have a smartphone.  That amount would simply drop off.
    2) If I assume liability for the line does that count as initiating a new 2-year contract? No.  Your contract remains the same as it was, with the same upgrade / contract end date.  If it does can I add a new line to the plan at that point? I’m also curious if I’m I eligible for the new 2-year contract pricing on a new phone if I assume liability for the line?  You can split off into your own plan, keep your number, and add a line for your fiance.  You can port your fiance's number from Straight Talk to the new account.  There's no reason to "ditch" your current numbers.  In fact, by starting a new plan with a new number and cancelling your current number on your parents plan, WOULD result in an ETF if the # is still in contract.  You would probably be eligible for 2 yr pricing on the new line for your fiance, and she likely would need a new phone to work on Verizon (ST may or may not work on a Verizon contract account, I'm not sure).  Your line would carry over with the same eligibility it has now.

  • Drop an "out of contract" line from family plan, but keep the number

    I have a family plan with 4 numbers. One of the numbers (let's call it line#1) is out of contract, so I can drop it without penalty. However, this is my daughter's number and I really don't want it to change. Another of the numbers (line#2) is still under contract, but it is a phone number I don't need any more. Verizon will not let me "swap" these numbers and keep line#1 while dropping line#2 -- unless I pay the termination fee on line#2. So, I'm wondering if this will work:
    1. Port line#1 TO Google Voice (paying $20 to do so). This will cancel the Verizon contract for line#1.
    2. Activate my daughter's phone with line#2, and configure GV to forward calls/texts from line#1 to line#2.
    3. Wait a few days for things to stabilize.
    4. Port line#1 FROM Google Voice back TO Verizon, replacing the line#2 phone number.
    At the end of this process, I will have effectively dropped the Verizon contract for line #1, have line#1 take over the contract formerly owned by line#2, and removed line#2 from my Verizon account. This is exactly what I explained to 3 different Verizon people, both over the phone and in a store -- and they claim that they can't do it because "the phone number is tied to the contract". They won't let me "swap" or "port" a number within my account, but they will let me replace the phone number on a currently active contract with an external number that gets ported in to Verizon. So, I need to port line#1 OUT of Verizon (paying Google $20 to do this) and then turn around and port it back IN to Verizon, replacing the line#2 phone number I no longer need. I don't see a reason why this will not work, unless Verizon has some self-serving rule about not porting in a number that was recently ported out. (Is there a "waiting period" involved here?) It's idiotic to me that Verizon would rather have me give $20 to Google to port a number out and back in rather than allow me to swap phone numbers on my Verizon account.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks, 21stNow and Brian68.
    Understood. I use Google Voice as my primary number now, but my daughter would prefer not to mess with it. She wants HER number (line#1) to show up on outgoing calls/texts using the native dialer/messaging apps. She has an iPhone, and I'm an Android guy, so I don't know how well GV integrates with the iPhone's native dialer/messaging apps. (On my Android, my GV number shows up on outgoing calls from the native dialer by choosing to "Use Google Voice to make all calls" in the GV app. I suspect this would be the same on the iPhone. However, texts sent using the native messaging app (not GV) come from my actual cell number -- even if I change the "Callback" number to my GV number.) I suppose I could train her to use GV for messaging, but GV does not handle MMS or group texts -- it just ignores them! I don't care about this, but my 20 year old daughter does!
    Regarding being unable to port the number back into Verizon, is this a restriction because it is a former Verizon number? As I understand it, I can log into MyVerizon and choose to "Change Mobile Number" on one of my active contracted lines. There is an option to port in a number to replace the number currently on that line. Other threads suggest that porting from Google Voice works the same as a landline port. Has anyone tried this and had success/failure?

  • Is it possible for my iPhone 5s to unblock a number that was blocked? Without me physically unblocking it?

    Is it possible for my iPhone 5s to unblock a number that was blocked? Without me physically unblocking it?

    The battery percentage indicator needs to be calibrated. For that, you need to drain down the battery way to 3-4% and charge it back to 100% without any interruptions. Let it get charged for 15 min more even if it's showing that it's fully charged and can be disconnected. No hardware problems as such!

  • Assigning a number value to a line from file without array

    How do you assign a number value to a line from a file? I want to use the assigned number so that the i can use random number to randomly select a line
    Example. i have the lines A,B,C,D,E
    A
    B
    C
    D
    E
    i know that a is line 1 b is line 2 so on so on
    (1) A
    (2)B
    (3)C
    (4)D
    (5)E
    so from here i would use the random number generator so that i could randomly select one of these. I already know how to code for the number generator but how would i make it so that i can access each individual line as a number?

    ya that's what im using but reguarding the code i dont think it does what im looking for. yes it does provide a random line but wen i run it multiple times it gives me the same line repeatedly. also i need to be able to refer to that line in the future so in the code the String line gets replaced each time
    BufferedReader bF = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("someFilePath"));
              String line;
              int someRandomNumber = 9;
              int counter = 0;
              while ((line = bF.readLine()) != null){
                   if (counter == someRandomNumber){
                        break;
                   counter++;
              System.out.println(line); //line at #someRandomNumber in the file

  • Mac pro keeps shutting down without warning

    I have a 15 inch Macpro running Mac OS X Lion, version 10.7.3. It keeps shutting down without any warning. The screen just goes black and I have to press and hold the power button for a while till a hear a sound to turn the system off. This is happening like, more than 5 times a DAY. Please help, any suggestions are welcome.

    Dose this issue happen when the computer is plugged in? or only when it's unplugged from power?
    Have you checked for software updates? if so, have you installed all the updates? (apple menu, software update, install updates, reboot, repeate untill there are no more updates)
    If the issue is happening while power is plugged in, have you tried a SMC Reset and NVRAM Reset?
    Is there any thing externaly connected to the computer besides power? if so, haveyou tried removing those items; to see if the issue only happens while those devices are connected?
    Do you know if yoru MacBook Pro has a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT? (apple menu, about this mac)
    Do you have any kind of keyboard cover? if so, have you tried removing the keyboard cover, dose the issue still happen?
    You could also try running an Apple Hardware Test. If it give you any error codes; I would suggest writing down the exact error message it displays.
    Also it might be a good idea to set the graphic card to run on the high end card; and see if the issue still happens. (apple menu, system prefrences, energy saver, At the top there should be a check box along the lines of use best graphic performance at all time, check this box)

  • Keeping text together (on a single line) in pages 09

    I apologize if a solution for this has been posted...
    I am having trouble keeping certain pieces of text constrained to one line.  They are invariably pieces of text containing symbols.
    For instance, let's say
    S/N
    shows up as the last word on a line.  In some cases, it splits so that it looks like this in the document:
    S/
    N
    (i.e., the N goes to the next line).  This actually happens for several words with symbols in them.  For instance:
    S?N
    becomes
    S?
    N
    I have seen this with: ! $ % + , but not many of the other "symbols".
    So in fact, these particular ones are behaving like hyphens!
    I am not sure why anyone would want such splits to occur - anyhow to the question:
    Is there a way to keep S/N on the same line without resorting to margin changes or other such things?
    Thanks,
    R.

    Hello R,
    "For instance, let's say
    S/N
    shows up as the last word on a line.  In some cases, it splits so that it looks like this in the document:
    S/
    N"
    You can beat this by being cunning. Change your sentence so that S/N is not at the end of a line. Especially useful if changes to the page margins (perhaps if you convert the file for Word users to read) will keep S/N safely in the middle of the line.
    Ian.

  • How do I limit the number of measures per line in Logic Pro score editor

    I would like to control the number of measures per line in Logic Pro X Score  Editor, currently it puts random numbers of measures per line depending on the accumulated lenth of the measures per line, as if looking for "the best fit". Any ideas how to force four measures per line in my finished score?

    Thanks, This solved my problem, the only thing I still needed to do was to find out how to open the Global format window. I fugured it out by opening the Score editor window / Layout / global format /then I saw the Max # of barlines. If you just go to the Logic Pro / Preferences then you never get to see the global format window unless you know to hit the "Score Project Settings" button on the bottom. But at least you showed me that there was such a option which limited the number of measures so I keep on trying until I fould how to reveal that option. Thanks !

  • Need to keep two paragraph styles on same line

    Coming from Ventura and need to recreate all publications in Indesign - can't find the equivalent of "breaks - line break: none".  Need to keep two paragraph styles on same line.

    Like Ventura, FrameMaker has been able to do this for decades.
    You're correct about zero leading being inadequate, if not only in appearance, but also for maintaining the document through changes, especially if someone other than you needs to edit it.
    Nested styles are logical to create and use. Search Google for terms like "InDesign nested styles," without quotes, for lots of links to tutorials and details.
    If you need to create TOC entries for each of the two parts of text in this example, even after formatting with a nested style, InDesign's TOC will see only the single paragraph. If that works, OK. If you want to be able to create a TOC reference to each part, you'll have to create hidden text for each part, and you'll need to create a paragraph style for each, as well. This is because InDesign's TOC only captures complete paragraphs.
    [EDIT] If you think this is an important feature enhancement that should be included in a future InDesign release, post a formal feature request in the form here: WISH.[/EDIT]

    I do miss Ventura a lot. For others, basically side-by-side paragraphs are successive paragraphs (one below the other) that the paragraph style can then format so they are next to each other, out in the margin as callouts, etc.
