Keeping album song orders in their original order???

Hello everyone,
I'm a nubie to mastering Itunes, but I was wondering if anyone can help me keep my albums, song orders, organized in their original track order, instead of alphabetically.
Most of my mp3's are in individual album files inside the artist file, with a number order beginning each track name 01_tracka, 02_trackb, etc. etc.
Anyway, when I add all my songs to itunes and use my library/browser to search for albums, they come up alphabetically totally messing up my original song orders.
What am I doing wrong?
thanks,
Tucky
P.S. I don't let itunes organize my music folder, because I want to keep my original file folder structure.

Gene,
iTunes does not use the file names to display or sort the tracks. It uses the tags associated with each track. You can edit a track's tags by highlighting the track, pressing Command-I, and then clicking on the Info tab.
To put an album in track order, you would need to enter the track number in that field of the get Info box. You would at least need to actual track number, you could add the total number of tracks as well.
You sort iTunes by clicking on one of the headers of the spreadsheet-like display. So, if you select a single album to look at, you could sort it in track order by clicking the header of the "Track #" column. If you are displaying all the albums by a particular artist, if you have the track tag filled in, then you can click on the "Album" header to sort by the album name and each album will be sorted in track order.
View Options (Command-J) only determines what columns are displayed in the main "spreadsheet" like display of iTunes. To actually sort the tunes, you need to click on the header of the column you want to sort by.

  • Booking of rework order cost on original order

    Hi,
I want to know the complete process for booking the cost of rework order on the original order. It means how to do variance calculation & then settle order to original order.
It is urgent. I want step by step process.
    thanks

    Hi
Create a Reference operation set with a operation that needs to be reworked on and with the control key of a Rework type. Assign this to the trigger point in the parameters. Assign this Trigger point to the last operation in the standard routing you created for that product.
If you create the trigger point as to be triggered at the partial confirmation of the order, then at the confirmation of the order, enter the rework quantity in that field with partial confirmation selected and save the confirmation. while saving, this will create a rework order.
While assigning the parameters to the trigger point, make sure that the order type also is a rework order type.
you can do fcost for rework costing
do KKS2 after teco for the order
    use KGI2 for overhead caiculation.
    do KO88 for order settlements
    award points if useful.

  • HT201272 I need to redownload an album/songs to computer as original download appears corrupted

I need to re-download an album or/and individual songs onto the computer I originally downloaded on because the original download appears corrupted (songs cut off half way through) but there doesn't seem to be an option for that. When I go to the purchased section it is greyed out on the download option, just says 'downloaded'.

Ok I appear to have fixed the issue, although the albums were gone they were still listed in the itunes music lists, deleted them there closed itunes and reopened to itunes store seemed to do the trick. Hopefully they download properly now.

  • How can I get iTunes to display the tracks from a CD in their original (album) order?

To be absolutely honest, I don't really understand what this box is for, so I shall just use it to repeat and expand on my question. (I have already sent a "Feedback" comment on the same topic).
How can I get iTunes to display the tracks from a CD in their original (album) order?
It seems to me that there is something very basic wrong with the way iTunes handles CD Tracks.
Professionally produced CD tracks are seldom if ever in a randomised order. Why then does iTunes seem unable to display the tracks in the order they appear on the original CD source - whether from a personally owned CD or from a download from the iTunes Store?
Some music demands a specific, non-alphabetic sequence in order to make sense. Why does it seem that iTunes only offers Alphabetic, or reverse alphabetic order - both of which make a nonsense of the original, often intended order of tracks?
Why not replace the so-called "cover-art" in the bottom left hand corner if the iTunes window - which, while it may look attractive to some, gives the barest of information concerning the original disc, with a list of the original CD tracks in their original order, so that the user can easily reestablish the order in which they should be played.
As I would expect legibility might be a problem with doing this, why could not the original contents, (in their original order), at least, be displayed when the "cover art" is double clicked-on - the result of which at present gives me an enlarged version of the "Cover Art". While on the subject of the contents of the source disc, what about all the album notes which someone takes trouble to write in order to increase the appreciation of the music on the CD and the listener's general background knowledge of the artists involved. Such notes, it seems to me, have considerable intrinsic value in their own account. I would, I think, normally be prepared to buy such "Sleeve notes" - so long as a "taster" was supplied (as it is for the music) - for something like the cost of a single 'Tune" on iTunes.
These two aspects let Apple iTunes down enormously, in my opinion. I think that by chopping even quite protracted sequences of music up into bits does no one any favours - except perhaps Apple's already quite substantial bank balance. People have to be aware that two and a half, to three and a half minutes is a very short time to develop a piece of worthwhile music, and that there are many, many composers, not all of whom are alive today who have written music that huge masses of mankind value for the enrichment of their lives and the human condition in general.
Please make the viewing of iTunes tracks in their correct order by default possible. By all means have the alphabetical variations available as offering a different approach to the music, but not the sole approach to it - PLEASE.
    Frustratedly yours
    Alan Whitaker
PS I work at my old 24" iMac Intel Core 2 machine which runs OS "Tiger" - because it is more beautiful to look at, the screen is more pleasant to work on, and because, in some ways it is more capable (it will run FreeHand MX without needing a "patch"), than my more recent 21.5" which runs "Snow Leopard". (I don't find it that much slower, either).

    Dear Mike
Thanks for the support. I am utterly amazed that after all the hype about how good iTunes is that it cannot play a downloaded CD in the correct order, and that what that order should be is not available directly from within one's own iTunes installation. (I know that one can go back to the iTunes Store to check what the order should be, but having downloaded the tracks surely iTunes is clever enough to retrieve this important information.
My iTunes to differ from yours in that I have also noticed that it seems unable to download copies of my "talking books" in the correct order either. But in my case it downloads them - from a CD - in order, but with the first track downloaded first - so that it appears at the bottom of the column of tracks so that it would get played last! (At least this is, while being inexplicable, a relatively "logical" bit of blundering and because of this is relatively easy to put right!).
I like many genres of music, some of which are not really programmed except perhaps by the artist performing them. I know that Frank Sinatra was very careful to programme his album songs to obtain a particular effect and in relation to the keys of the music. iTunes presumes to know better.
Film scores may be totally randomly put together, in some cases, but in others the order is vital to one's appreciation of the music as a whole and how it relates to the plot of the film.
In symphonic music most works are divided into sections and are conceived by the composer that way. Some individual sections may gain a life of their own if played separately, but they are never complete in the sense that the composer envisaged them without being placed in their proper context.
Opera and probably most choral music too, is similar except that the words may well become meaningless if the order is changed at the whim of a piece of ill-written computer code, while ballet music has to be heard totally within its sequential context or it becomes meaningless.
Finally, I would venture that iTunes, by jumbling up the order of the tracks as recorded on a CD, does an immense disservice, not only to the music on a particular CD, but to music in general, by expressing everything in terms of "Songs" - which it seems to interpret as stand-alone items of between 2 and 4 minutes whatever the genre. Even the way the iTunes publicity speaks of how many "songs" it can store instead of how many minutes or hours of recorded sound. This has to be another brick in the wall of "dumming-down" of people's expectations, and the shortening of their attention spans.
I don't know about anyone else, but I feel betrayed by Apple over this. Perhaps the look, feel and general presentation of an item are not the most desirable features of a consumer product. Maybe it should be judged more on it fitness for the purpose for which it was sold. There is one other possibility - that Apple are trying to redefine "Music" - and that everything that lasts longer than about 3.5 minutes or is in the form of what could for want of a better term be called symphonic in the broadest sense is something else - not "Music" within Apple's new definition, at all!
Well that's off my chest! now I can get down to creating some sort of order in my iTunes Libraries, knowing that I have to reconsult all the sources in order to confirm the source playing order.
Anyway thanks again. At least I know that it is not just me

  • SMART PLAYLISTS:  ORGANIZING BY DATE ADDED & KEEPING ALBUM TRKS IN ORDER

    Dear Knowledgeable Users of iTunes:
I would like to create a a Smart Playlist that will do the 2 following things:
    1) Play albums in the order of date added
    (I solved this one)
    2) Play the songs in the order they come on the album
    (Couldn't solve this...)
Summary: playing music in the order it was added to the library AND maintaing the original track order of the albums...
Is this to much to ask, it seems pretty practical-
In an attempt to accomplish this, I made a Smart Playist & selected:
Date Added: In the last 24 months
-This solved the 1st problem beautifuly
But now the albums play backwards- (as you know, iTunes rips album's songs in their original order, so when your sort by 'Recently Added', each album plays backwards ! -last song first, first song last and so on- This is problem I want to solve-
    To summerize:
How can listen to my most recently added albums while the songs in their original order?
The point of all this is for listening to music on my iPod-
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated-
    Thanks in advance!
    -Temp

There are some issues to with live updating & smart playlists on iTunes 9, and also those containing mixed content, e.g. Podcasts & Music, though I'm not sure that is the problem here. You should be able to sort the playlist on any heading you like and then use *Copy to Play Order* to control the order that will be synced.

  • Zen Nano Plus: I can't get my CDs to play in original order...He

    Hello. I'm new here.
I got a Zen Nano Plus 52 mb a few months ago. Installed the software on my computer. I'm not very computer literate.
Here's what's frustrating me: I can't seem to listen to my CDs in their original order.
) I put a CD in my computer
    2) Whether I view the track list in Windows Media Player or in the Creative Media Menu the track list appears in its original order as seen on the CD.
    3) I "rip" the CD to my Nano player.
    4) When I disconnect the player and go to play the album the tracks are all mixed up and not in the original order anymore.
I've tried some different things but nothing seems to correct the problem. I'm hoping someone can direct me what to do. I'm very confused, as I don't understand much of the computer terminology I read.

As in other response, the Nano Plus does not read ID tag info for sorting (it does read part of the tag--song name---only for display while that song is playing). Tag info typically includes the track number. Windows Media Player plays tracks in order of track number contained in the ID3 tags. The Nano Plus only sorts by filename. You can rip your tracks in a format that is prefixed by the track number (for filename). This can be done in Windows Media Player and other programs. Somehow you ripped tracks without the track number first (which would solve your problem). You tracks should look like "0-Come Together-Bealtes.wma" or something like this. This is the FILENAME, as you would see in Windows Explorer. The track info is not visible in Windows Explorer views. You can see it from Windows Media Player or Creative Media Source Organizer, though. Other players like Zen Micro and Touch sort tracks and build the library database on ID3 Tag info, not filenames.

  • How can I re-sort my albums both chronologically and in track order?

    Hi all,
All of a sudden, the correct album track order on my iPod Classic has gone haywire!
I have many, many playlists, containing albums by all my favourite bands, arranged in chronological order. This means that I can start playing the Beatles (for instance) with "Please Please Me", and work my way through to "Let It Be:Naked", playing each album in its turn, with the track listing of each album in their original order.
Of course, I have to tell iTunes to sort "Album by Artist/Year" to achieve this end, and up until just recently, things have been fine. Most of my 250+ artist-dedicated playlists are sorted this way.
Now, all of a sudden, I find that the track order within these albums in iTunes are appearing in a completely random order. The only way I can get the correct track sequence back again is to re-sort the list by "Album" which re-arranges the albums alphabetically, but that does not list them chronologically....
I have tried re-sorting the chronologically dated and named albums by clicking the column header, and when it comes up with sorted by "Album by Artist / Year" (which is where it ONCE was all automatically sorted into correct sequence of track numbers) now, it comes up with all the album tracks in random order, within each album.. It sorts the albums into the correct chronological order, but the tracks within these albums are all messed up.
As I said earlier, if I choose to sort each playlist simply "By Album", then all the tracks on each album are in the correct order, so I KNOW that the correct ID Tag info is still there..
Until now, I have been able to pride myself on (usually) being able to manage the sometimes quirky moods of iTunes, which I have been using for over a decade - but I have never had this problem before.
Please also note that all my 23,000+ tracks have album dates, track numbers, artists, groupings, genres, play counts, and most also have cover images.
This week, I have downloaded and re-installed iTunes 10.6.3.25, but still no change.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what I can do to get things back the way they were again?
    Many thanks,
    Rusty Shay

    Hello there,
    Hi there Chris CA,
    Many thanks for your reply.
I just tried using the column browser as you suggested, but it remains the same.
I can either have the albums by any one artist sorted alphabetically - with the tracks in the correct sequence....
Or I can have the albums sorted by year of release - with the tracks in random order....
    But not both!
The most curious thing is that all playlists are not affected. Probably three or four out of the 250+ are listed the way I want them all to be.
    It's driving me bloody crazy!

  • In order to properly play my music on my DAC with a headless mac mini, I had to "check" the tunes in iTunes. When I did that, the songs in each album were put in not their proper order. How do I restore them to their original sequence in each album?

In order to properly play my music on my DAC using a headless Mac Mini, I had to make sure that all of the songs in "Music" were checked. To so so, I pressed the "check box." When I did that, all of the songs in each album were resequenced in not their proper order.
How do I restore the proper order of songs for each album?

In list view, select the album column. To choose which columns appear, select an item on the left side of the window (a playlist, for example), choose View > View Options, and select the information you want to see. You can also Control-click a column heading to select columns to display.
The column selected determines how tracks are displayed.  For example, clicking the "Name" column displays all tracks in alphabetical order; clicking the "Album" column displays the tracks in album order; clicking the "Date Added" column displays the tracks in the order that they were imported into your library.  Columns also have a disclosure arrow at the right of the column (when selected) that you can click to reverse the order.

  • How do I delete duplicate songs, but keep a link in their original albums to the single copy of the song left, so it will play in each album in sequence as if it were still there?

    Greetings!
After importing my 300 or so CDs into iTunes, I found I have tons of duplicate songs.
Example: I have a song that came in a original album, then in again in a "Greatest Hits" album, then again in a "Hits of the 80's" album, and again in a soundtrack album. I have now have 4 copies of the exact same song.
How do I delete duplicate songs, but keep a link in their original albums back to the single copy of the song left, so it will play in each album in sequence as if it were still there?
I don't think this currently exists, but as my library keeps growing the duplicates keep growing.  It would be nice if Apple sees this and adds a way to link songs to multiple albums.
I don't want to create a custom playlist for every album that has a duplicate song or two (I'd have dozens of playlists) - thought about fixing it that way but not really practical.

To my knowledge, there is no way of doing what you want. The only workaround is to create playlists for the other albums containing the track, but that isn't practical for most people.

    Hi kelori617,
If you are having issues organizing the Apps on your iPhone via iTunes, you may want to double-check the steps in the following article and make sure you are syncing any changes to your device:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Sync and organize iOS apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12115
iTunes 11 for Windows: Sync and organize iOS apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12315
If all of the steps are correct and the changes still aren't being retained when you restart your iPhone, you may want to make sure your data is backed up, then try restoring your iPhone to factory settings, restore your data from the backup, then test to see if you can organize your apps via iTunes:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
