Keeping certain songs in order when shuffling a playlist

Is there a way to keep certain tracks in a playlist in order when shuffling the rest of the playlist?
For instance, Pure Prairie League -- "Falling in and out of love" & "Amie".
Or most of the end of The Beatles Abbey Road CD???

Trying to keep certain songs out of the shuffle list

I listen to radio plays which I download to the pod.
Unfortunately, they are listed as songs and not audio books. Therefore, when I am trying to listen to music, there is no diferentiation and the radio plays get thrown into the shuffle.
Now, I have an individual play list for each radio play (I.e. sherlock holmes, phillip marlow, johnny dollar etc...).
I am wondering if there is any way to "Lock out" certain playlists from the shuffle, w/o keeping me from being able to access the radio plays when I want to listen to them.
Alternatively, I will place all my songs into one play list and merely cycle through them that way.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

List of songs marked "skip when shuffling"?

I've marked a number of songs to "skip when shuffling," and I have no problem with that.
However, my computer's hard drive just crashed and I'm putting Humpty Dumpty back together again. I was able to keep the music (including some I'd deleted between the time of my last backup and the crash), but not the libraries and playlists.
And the things like "skip when shuffling."
So.. on my old computer, is there a way to get a list of things I'd marked that way? Then I'd get at least most of it.
I'd ask if there was a way to transfer the libraries, and I started to, but I'm going to go ahead and do some other cleanup, too, so what the heck.

If you need it, I have a script that creates a playlist of any tracks excluded from the shuffle, FindSkipOnShuffle.vbs, which:
creates a playlist "skip on shuffle" if it doesn't exist;
deletes anything in that playlist if it already exists;
adds any tracks that are marked as skip on shuffle; and
displays a message that tells you when it's done (because it's slow, taking about a minute to scan through 10,000 tracks, it's nice to know when it's done).
If you want to run this, just right click on the above link, save it to your PC, and invoke it while iTunes is running.

Is there any way to keep certain tracks from being shuffled. For example: can i make it so only music gets shuffled, and comedy doesn't?

Random playing, but keeping certain songs together

Is it possible to have certain songs remain together (like Queen's "We Will Rock You" with "We Are The Champions") when playing in a random order?
iTunes plays songs with a cross fade, can the iPod play the songs the same way?

As Chris said, you can re-rip or join the tracks. You can also assign the same Group field to both tracks and select "Shuffle Groupings" in preferences, though I'm not sure this will carry over to the iPod.

IPod does not play songs in order - iPod Shuffle 1GB

When I drag songs to the iPod it adds them to the end of the list and then I sort by song name. When I play them on the iPod they are played at the end. When I hook up the iPod they are listed in the right order but that's not how they are played.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get around it?

Only 6 songs (out of 200) played when shuffling a playlist!

I have a playlist consisting of over 200 'songs' (itunes/ipod think they're songs but they're actually language lessons). All songs are listed and if I play one, the playlist contains all items. However as soon as I press 'shuffle', the playlist goes from 200 songs to 6 (and it's always the same 6 tracks)!
Any idea what's happening here? I did upgrade to 3.0 and I'm guessing that has something to do with it as I've had lots and lots of problems with the music app since upgrading.

I always go with the obvious first: maybe most are marked as "Skip when shuffling." In iTunes, select one of the songs that is not played during Shuffle, and Control-click on Get info and click the Options tab. If "Skip when shuffling" is selected, this is your problem. You can escape from that, select all the songs in the playlist, Click on Get info and Options and unmark "Skip when shuffling." This will change all of them.
You'll need to sync.

You might be better of creating a smart playlist that contains songs you haven't heard in so long.

IPOD not playing songs in order when not set on shuffle

During play of music. My IPOD will make a noise and then change songs. There is no other problem with the unit. Does anyone have a suggestions as to what the problem could be?

I have used these two programs to get the data out of the ipod, Xplay and Floola. The former is commercial, the latter is free but xplay has a few more options.

Problems with songs I ordered when I had a different email account (now inactive), now I can't get my computer authorized to play those songs

I had ordered many songs using a different e-mail account, which is no longer active and I have no access to. When I try to play the songs, it states that the computer is not authorized to play them, then offers me the chance to log in on my old e-mail address to authorize the computer. However, my old password doesn't work anymore, and since I don't still have the old e-mail address active, I can't get a new one sent to me. When I try to do the security questions, my birthdate is not being accepted as correct, so I cannot access the account that way. How can I get my computer activated through this old e-mail address?

My newly purchased songs go silent when shuffling & disappearing contacts

We have thousands of songs from iTunes and CD's, etc in our library. It has always worked fine. Recently I purchased an iPhone 4S and there have been a few quirky things happening. First I have contacts disappear from time to time. I thought perhaps this must be a user problem BUT I have had contacts disappear that were there before, never used but have now disappeared and I know they were there b/c I retrieved the information for my husband. I've had others disappear that I use on a regular bases too but those ones I thought were probably a user problem. I was deleting the past conversations and figure I accidentally deleted the contact...
Back to my iPhone music...when I play my most recent purchased songs they work fine but if my iPhone is shuffling through songs and gets to one of the most recent purchases the sound stops. The sounds on the rest of the phone continue to work and the music looks like it's playing but with no sound. This only happens on my most recent purchases. I purchased Nickelback a couple of weeks ago and have had no troubles but a week ago I purchased some new Christmas songs and those ones are where I've run into troubles.
Intersting now that I think about it how long ago was the most recent operating system update? Should I be restoring it somehow?

How to keep certain songs out of a smart playlist

I gave a onceover to the search and couldnt find anything related.. So here it is:
I've got a couple albums that I use while running and don't want the songs in them to be included in smart playlists i have setup for rating and play count. Is there any way to preclude those songs?

A cleaner solution is to create a playlist with your running albums, then update the other smart playlists with "Playlist" not in "Running Albums".
That way, you don't need to update each and every playlist when you add a new running album, you just need to put it in the Running Albums playlist.

? about keeping files in original order when sending attachments

Hi there, I have a question about sending attachments. Is it possible for the files/folders to remain in the order that I have originally put them in my documents etc...? When I go to send an attachment it automatically rearranges the folders in alphabetical order. Can anything be done to prevent or over ride this function? BTW: I have the new macbook with leopard.
