Keeping CS4 webpremium with CS6 Design on same machine

Subject says it all.... I have CS4 WebPremium installed on my Mac. We have purchased a CS6 Design Standard and I want to essentially, keep the DreamweaverCS4 on my machine so I don't want to remove CS4 web.
Can I have both versions installed w/o losing the CS4?

Yes.
For most Adobe software, different versions install into their own separate folder on your hard drive.
I have CS4, CS5 and CS6 happily co-existing.

Hi, I am working with CS6 Design Standard for Mac, I bought from Adobe a DVD with the Software. I installed it already on my mac book. Soon I wanna buy a second computer for my work. When I bought the software I was told that it is possible to install the software on a second computer. But I also read lately that I will only be allowed to work with one computer. I want to work on both of my computers without de/installing and de/activating the software every time. Is this possible? Thank you!!

You should be able to install the products on two computers as long as they are not running at same. Also the platform should be MAC.
You may download the product from

I am on a trial version of  InDesign in Creative Cloud and before I purchase need to know why and the files cannot be opened by others using CS6.  Isn't Cloud compatible with CS6 design software?

Industry standard files such as JPEG are compatible with many brands/versions of programs
Proprietary files such as those created by InDesign are often not backwards compatible, due to new features in newer program versions
This is not unique to Adobe... MS Word DOCX files are not backwards compatible with earlier versions of MS Word

  • Can CS3.3 & CS4 Master play nice installed on same machine at same time?

First off here are the specs on my desktop and laptop:
    Desktop:
    Mac Pro running OSX 10.5.6 - 2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core - 6 GB RAM - CS3.3 Master Collection currently installed
    Laptop:
MacBook Pro running OSX 10.5.6 - 2.4 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo - 2 GB RAM - CS3.3 Master Collection currently installed
I recently received all the install discs for CS4. Spent the last hour researching how CS3 and CS4 play together when installed on same machine at same time. I haven't found anything that addresses my questions, thus the post.
At present, not enough of my work colleagues have CS4, so if I install CS4 and uninstall CS3 - and need to pass a file on to someone who doesn't have CS4, they can't open it in CS3.
Also, I use AfterEffects with many 3rd party plugins. Until I can verify that CS4 plays nice with these plugins, I can't afford to uninstall AfterEffects CS3. Obviously, I need to keep CS3 up and running on my desktop and laptop.
But now that I have CS4 ready to install, I of course want to start using it and learning the new features.
Has anyone successfully been able to install CS4 Master apps on a machine similar to either my desktop or laptop specs and have CS3.3 Master apps continue to work properly?
I trust Adobe takes these types of version overlaps seriously and plans for them since people want to try out or start using the newest version but ensure there is a sufficient overlap period before uninstalling the older versions.
    Thanks for your comments

    j,
Your old apps will work. But the new versions will be the defaults. You can touch your files to the old application to launch it or launch the old application first, and then open files "normally".
If you need to ensure compatibility with older versions on other machines, don't delete the old apps. Or be prepared to save back to the old version before handing off the files. Note that InDesign cannot save back more than one version and in general, any features used that are new to the new apps will not be recognized when those files are saved back.

  • Installation issue with CS6 Design and Web Premium

I purchased CS6 Design and Web Premium for school with a voucher from JourneyEd. I have downloaded (it took 13 hours not 1.5)and assume that it completed since I saw the files extracting in the download assistant. I always download to my desktop and install from there. I have two folders, CS6 Master Collection which is empty and CS6 Design and Web Premium which has three subfolders; Adobe CS6, Design and Web Premium and fonts. The first two have set-up file applications within them. There is no .exe file so I have run the set-up applications within these file folders. An installer appears and runs onscreen but nothing is installed. There are no error messages. I purchased this computer in June and it has more than enough space. I am using Windows 7. I really need this for school.

If the current installation files you have downloaded are not working then please try downloading the trial of Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=designweb_premium.  You can then enter the serial number for your purchase during the installation process.

  • Captivate CS5.5 and CS6.0 On Same Machine

Transition to 6.0; Run 5.5 and 6.0 Together?
Before converting an existing project (in active development) and to learn CS6.0 while developing in CS5.5, can the two coexist on the same machine (keeping projects separate, of course)?
    Win 7 (64)

    Thank you.

Great that I made you laugh. That has always been the problem with MS, I have to teach different versions of MS Project (in different languages) and I need either as many laptops as versions (budget ????) or have to install several VM's. With Adobe (teach different versions of Photoshop, answering questions about all versions of CP) that has never been a problem, only have to be sure to focus on the right version.

  • 9iAS installation with 9i DB on same machine(Urgent)

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle 9i on windows NT. The installation was successful. And am now trying to install Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.1 on same machine.I have done all the necessary pre-installation tasks.
But as soon I run setup of disk 1 of 9iAS it gives error as =>
Dialogue box title: "SEVERE: Unable to verify iSuite Product Install Configuration"
    And message is:
"Setup has detected that your iSuite Product Install has not been setup correctly, probably because the installation was aborted.
    Please restart Setup."
The installation of Oracle 9i was successful and was not aborted in between or so.
Even if I restart the setup same errors comes.
I am not able to understand why this error is coming. Is it a problem related to the installer version? Has somebody come across such a problem? Please help. I need it quite urgently.
    Thanks,
    Pallavi.

Also make sure to check out the recently published whitepaper on Portal Center: (http://otn.oracle.com/portalcenter - item #2 in What's New in Portal?). Summary is listed below:
    Step-by-step Guide for Installing Oracle9i EE (9.0.1.1.1), Oracle9i Application Server (1.0.2.2.2), and Oracle9iAS Portal (3.0.9.8.2) on Windows 2000
The guide takes you through the entire installation process in a clear, easy to understand manner. While designed for those with minimal Oracle-specific knowledge, it can also be quite useful for those who wish to quickly set up a stand-alone evaluation or test system using the default settings.

  • 32 bit coexist with 64 bity on same machine

Can Tuxedo 8.1 32-bit coexist with Tuxedo 8.1 64-bit, on same machine?

    Absolutely.
Make sure that when you specify an installation directory, you use a name to explicitly define what you are installing For example, /opt/beahome/tuxedo81.32 and
/opt/beahome/tuxedo81.64. Developers can then set their TUXDIR to point at the right version, or you can build a link, /opt/beahome/tuxedo, to the version you want and then leave the TUXDIR alone.

  • OK or bad to keep 8 PRO and XII PRO on same machine operable

    x

    Hi Tom,
Acrobat XII Pro has still not release so i assume it's XI Pro you are referring to. It's not advisable to install Acrobat 8 and XI on the same machine.
Adobe Technical Support does not recommend having multiple versions of Acrobat or Adobe Reader installed on the same machine. Acrobat and Adobe Reader have numerous components that have similar functionality and can cause conflicts on a machine. The most prevalent among these conflicts involves the plug-ins for rendering PDF files in the browser, PDFMaker inside of Office Applications, and the Adobe PDF printer.

  • How does Dreamweaver CS4 work with CS3 Design Suite?

I am looking to purchase Dreamweaver on my computer however I currently have the CS3 versions of Photoshop and Illustrator installed on my computer. Will the DW CS4 version work if the rest of my Design Suite is CS3 or should I look to purchase CS3 if available?  Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Dreamweaver 3 will open a file in Photoshop, so DW CS4 should do the same. I think you might have problems with Adobe's Bridge. And it's possible that DW CS4 might decide that previous versions of Flash, Fireworks, Photoshop or Illustrator are not supported. So workflows may be a little more disjointed.
So the real question will be: Do the advantages of DW CS4 outweigh possible hurdles in workflow?
I will frequently open and replace graphic images using Photoshop without Dreamweaver open and, when I open the website, everything falls into place. I did that for a number of color changes and I worked exclusively in Photoshop for the first part of my day, replacing colors that were designed to be part of the website with the client's specific pick. I tend to save graphics as .PSD files and then use Photoshop's Export to Web and in CS3, Photoshop will remember two different paths for a Save (PSD) and a Save to Web.

  • Captivate 7 with other versions on same machine

Have a client running several versions of Adobe Captivate on a single machine including Ver 6. She would like to keep those on the machine for use with projects created on older versions. Would like to also install Captivate version 7. I am planning to install it and choose a new directory during the install. Are there any issues I should be aware of installing Ver 7 with these other versions in place?
    Thanks...

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums!
Yes you can install  multiple version of Captivate on Single computer.
But make sure that you also upgrade the computer according to the systems requirements of Adobe Captivate 7 so that you won't run into any memory related issues , like slow performance etc. .

  • Can Always On Availability Group co-exist with mirroring on the same machine

So imagine 2 server Server A and Server B hosting database A and Database B.
Database A Principal resides on Server A uses AOAG to create a replica on Server B.
Database B Principal resides on Server A and uses Mirroring to create a replica on Server B.
Is this type of topology possible or sensible?
Given that AOAG requires windows clustering and the listner is used for the DNS.

    Hello,
I think this may be a common misconception amongst DBAs that they will co-exist.
Do you have any evidence that they can't co-exist? I certainly don't agree with your very strong statement of it being a "common misconception" when it hasn't been proven as such and can, in fact, work.
When you access AOAG, you only point the DNS to th eAOAG listener and when the failover occurs the AOAG listner automatically moves to the mirror server. So the IP address assosiated with the DNS automatically changes. This is not the concept in
mirroring where the IP remains same and failover is done via "failover partner"
You're making the assumption that you would setup mirroring to use the AG listener when in fact it would not be logical to do so as you'd have the issue you noted above. Instead you'd use the normal instance address which would not have a problem with what
    you've just described.
So how will mirroring work when the IP assosiated with the DNS alias of SQL server itself changes
Again, you're assuming incorrectly that you'd use the AG listener for Mirroring. However, to give your question an example, you let DNS do the heavy lifting. For example, if there were a multi-subnet cluster just using WSFC and SQL Clustering the IP address
would change but the DNS lookup should point correctly, thus mirroring would still work just as it did (assuming the failover was successful, etc). That's just a single example.
I wonder if MS has some official documentation.
I highly doubt it since they deprecated mirroring.
The one ISSUE I could see arise would be that there can only ever be a single mirroring endpoint and I believe that could become a bottleneck just as it would with mirroring depending on how much AG and mirroring traffic was attempted to be pushed through
    it.

  • How to share iPhoto with other accounts in same machine

If I have a lot of pictures in iPhoto in my IMAC and want to be able to share with my wife when she login in as her. Is that possible. Thanks.

What version of iPhoto do you have?
The easiest and most reliable method is to move the Library to an external Hard Disk and point her iPhoto and yours at it.
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
    5. Then, in each account, Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and select the Library on the External.
Remember only one person can open the Library at a time.

  • FCP6 on Snow Leopard and Adobe CC on ML with GTX card in same machine?

Hello, I have a couple 5,1 Mac Pros in a post production environment running Snow Leopard and FCP6. We would like to upgrade to Adobe CC and take advantage of CUDA with GTX cards. However, we still need to be able to open/re-edit old FCP projects for a while.
FCP6 needs SL, while GTX cards need ML. My plan is to have each OS on separate HDDs and boot into the one we need at the time.
Problem with this: The 5,1s currently have 5770s which require one of the two 6-pin power connectors but the GTX cards need them both.
    1. Is the best solution to open the case and switch which card is powered every time, depending on need?
    2. Is it ok to leave the non-powered card in the PCI slot while doing this?
    3. Is there a better solution to this problem?
    Thanks for any help.

    Separate machines if you can.
The whole "drivers" and how you can't use that GTX in SL... I can run Windows with any card because drivers are available.

  • Activating CS4 products with a CS6 Serial

I have a CS6 serial key but only have a 32 Bit PC. The trial of photoshop worked as CS4 and I presume that I can only use CS4 products as these only require 32 Bit. I am aware that some CS6 products require 64 bit and I was wondering if I could use my Serial to activate CS4 products. If so, then I can use the serial fully.

No. Serial numbers are version specific. There is no way to activate CS4 products with CS6 serials, but I don't see the problem, at least where PS is concerned - Photoshop CS6 has a 32bit version. Similalrly, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and InDesign are 32bit/ have a 32bit version in CS6. Only the video products liek Premiere or After Effects require 64bit. There's no way around that.
