Keeping custom templates and configurations on different drive

What I'm trying to do is keep one set of DVDSP layouts/templates/etc on a partition that all of our editors/graphics artists can access instead of adding 8gb or more on each station. I figured out how to link each station to the stock palette elements, using the preferences, but I didn't see a way to let DVDSP know that the configurations folder has been moved to a new partition. And in terms of custom templates, where are those normally saved? In the same folder as the stock templates? I'm unsure where to point DVDSP to set the custom elements. It's default is /Users/drive/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/DVD Studio Pro. I see that DVDSP wants to save custom templates in the user folder library and the general templates in the general library, but what if I want both on a non-local drive? Can I simply create two folders (templates/custom templates) and make sure that our editors save to the custom folder when using DVDSP?
And lastly, will the custom configurations stay linked if I move the configurations folder to the new location on the shared media partition?
Hope this makes sense,
Steve

Look in DVDSP Preferences > Destinations > Show: Palette Elements. You'll see the location destination of stock and custom elements.
Hope that helps !

    Pages stores those you created & saved as templates in (your account) > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates. The door to the user's Library is hidden in Lion but it is easy to open. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your users Library will appear about halfway down the list.

  • Setup Customer Templates and Alerting

    We are currently have over 75 Oracle 10.2.0.4 test servers, with agents installed and reporting back to our OMS repository. We have been asked to start monitoring tablespace thresholds so that we don't run into outspace issues. What I have done is create a custom monitoring template and pushed it via the agents to the db servers. What I would like to do is remove all the standard oracle alerting, and only have the monitoring template and have it email or page our oncall when needed.

    hi,
    Maybe a better approach would have been to look at one of the standard grid control jobs, database availability and critical states. create your own rule as a copy of this, remove all the metrics you do not want. Edit the rule as the SYSTEM or SYSMAN user of grid control. Then make the rule public and then when you log in as a none SYSTEM/SYSMAN user just subscribe youreself to that rule to recive email alerts. This way you keep all the standard rule in tact.

  • Trouble using Custom Template and Saving Resulting Document. Help!

    I created a Custom Template in Numbers '09. When I go hit "New from Template Chooser", there it is. I've tried entering info directly into the template, as well as duplicating it and entering info in the duplicated document. I can enter the info just fine, but.... Either way, when I'm done I do not have an option to Save, Save As or anything like that. I only see "Save As Template".....but it's already a perfectly good template. I don't want to Save As Template and create another template!!!. I want a named document saved, using the great template I already put together. Is this a problem? What's up? Why can't I do this???? Please help!

    I'm on an iMac running 10.7.5. (Afraid to go further  because I have FInal Cut Pro 7 and I'm very attached to it....I'm afraid to upgrade my OS and have FCP not work! I'm a pro and not so willing to go to FCP 10).  Anyway, I'm on an iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core  4 GB, 1333 MHz RAM.
    I'm running Numbers ''09 and don't have 13, so it's an 09 template entering 09 info. It's perfect. I run webinars and it contains all of the status for media and every detail of any upcoming webinar production. My goal is to open the template, enter the info, and save it with the name of the webinar client. Then open again, enter for another client, save, etc.
    It's just 09 all the way through. It says I can Save a Version or Save as Template.
    Should I open a template and then Duplicate so it's a fresh document? I do that sometimes in hopes of seeing an option to SAVE AS. Sometimes I open and Don't Duplicate, but just use the template. Either way I see no way of saving the document with the specific information for the client. I don't want to Save As Template! Who wants hundreds of templates running around that are all virtually the same except for the info entered within it.
    Am I missing the boat here?

  • Making custom templates and packaging them.

    I have done several DVD's for clients/parents of thier childs soccer team videos. I normally make a custom menu for them. My question is, if i wanted to make this template and save it to give to someone else to use is there a way to do it. I guess it would be like making one to sell, but i am not selling it:) If anyone knows of a tutorial or anything that can help me i would appreciate it greatly. I am thinking about making generic templates fo several sports.

    Hi Zack,
    My guess would be if you do these in Photoshop, Live Type or Motion (as I do) give them these plus all associated files. If you have save these in DVD SP they are in Library>application Support>DVD SP>Templates. Hope this helps.

  • Having trouble installing and configuring new hard drive

    I bought a larger (320GB) Hitachi hard drive for my T61, to replace the 100GB that came with the computer. I had no touble making the physical installation, but can't boot up and use the new drive. I:
    --used Acronis software (True Image 11 and Disk Director) to partition the new drive. The new partitions are proportionately larger than on the old drive.
    --copied files from my original HD to the new one.
    --tried, unsuccessfully, to boot up from the new drive.
    --tried Thinkvantage software, but it wouldn't (1) recognize any external drives (USB HDD or my backup drive, also an external); (2) let me change the order of my boot devices (I get a synbtax-challenged message: "All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode...[C]onsult your system supervisor." Well, *I'm* the "system supervisor," and I still can't get the program to let me edit the boot order).
    I have tried to boot the new drive from original OS software (XP Pro), with no success. Same deal with Acronis's emergency book disk. At the moment, I'm letting Thinkvantage reformat and (maybe) reinstall everything that was originally on the factory computer. Whether it'll actually do this on a new and larger hard drive, I guess I'll eventually find out. If it works, I'll then try to restore my real files with Acronis.
    Has anybody else had to deal with this exciting sequence of events?
    --Fred Powledge

    Lets start afresh. First do you want an XP or Vista system on your new hard drive? Do you know if the recovery disks you got with your system are for the operating system you want on the new drive?
    If you bought a Vista machine with XP downgrade Vista will be preinstalled on the system and it gets delivered with XP recovery disks. The opposite can also be true the machine is delivered with XP installed and with Vista recovery disks. Iin both cases if you want to upgrade to a new hard disk on the preinstalled operating system you must first yourself burn recovery disks for the preinstalled system. Start -- All programs -- Thinkvantage -- Create Product Recovery Media, first disk must be CD the last two can be DVDs.
    When you are sure you have the right set of recovery disks XP or Vista, boot from them and let them format the disk. They will automatically install the service partition and use all the remaining space of the new hard drive for the C partition. When I think about it even for Vista on the T61 there will be only two partitions C: and a hidden partition for the RnR service partition. The S and Q partitions only apply to the new T400/500 -- I should not have mentioned them.
    If its the recovery disks that were delivered with the machine that are the right one for the op sys you want on the new hard drive and they dont produce a bootable system -- call Lenovo support and get new ones.
    The details for Acronis I can't help you with -- I used my Windows home server backup when I restored my C: partitions on the new hard drives both on my T500 and my T42. Just be careful you dont mix up which is the old and new C: partition so you dont destroy the C. partition on the old hard disk by mistake. But as long as you don't point Acronis to the old hard disk the worst that can happen is you have to rerun the restore to factory settings on the new drive once more.

  • Download / Installation - Want to download and install on different drives. How?

    Hi,
    About to install the CS6 Production Premium trial via download assistant before making a purchase and I would like to know if it is possible to download and install to one drive and then move installation to a completely seperate drive without messing it all up?
    The main reason for this is that I do not download straight to SSD unless it is just some quick updates etc and instead have other drives that get write hammered and looking at the installation process I dont see a way to download to a diff drive other than the one you want the program on as an end result?
    Thanks.

    Assuming that you are on Windows...
    I installed the CS6 Master Collection yesterday, and the initial installer panel gave me an option to specify the install location.  See the image in this post forums.adobe.com/message/4631926#4631926

  • Event Receiver to create a List based on a custom template and on lookup field

    Hi
    I would like to have an Event Receiver who is firing by addItem in a list calls Seminarliste and is creating each time a new list based on three columns for add.Lists("Title of the list", "Description of the list", "Custom List
    Template")
    I have a Problem to get the LookupField Title and I am getting a Problem to create a list.
    If I debug the code the bold line creates an exception ;(
    The following code I have produced:
            public override void ItemAdding(SPItemEventProperties properties)
                base.ItemAdding(properties);
                SPWeb spCurrentSite = properties.OpenWeb();
                SPSite siteCollection = new SPSite("http://win-ue32d37ap2n");
                SPWeb web = siteCollection.OpenWeb();
                SPListCollection lists = web.Lists;
                String curListName = properties.ListTitle;
                if(curListName == "Seminarliste")
                    SPListItem curItem = properties.ListItem;
                    String curItemListName = properties.AfterProperties["Title"].ToString();
                    String curItemDescription = properties.AfterProperties["Beschreibung"].ToString();
                    // Lookup field with Option to Chose a template name
                    String curItemTemplate = properties.AfterProperties["Template"].ToString();
                    SPListTemplateCollection listTemplates = siteCollection.GetCustomListTemplates(web);
                    //Error by following line ...
    SPListTemplate myTemplate = listTemplates[curItemTemplate];
                    web.Lists.Add(curItemListName, curItemDescription, myTemplate);
    If somebody had a similar problem in the past and could advice it would be most appreciated ;-)
    Thanks in advance ;-)
    Kind regards Michael Damaschke

    If I understand correctly, the field you use to select the template name is a lookup field? If so, then the problem is the lookup field value is not the name of the template. It is an SPFieldLookupValue, which contains the ID and the string of the lookup.
    So you want to separate the template name, like this:
    if (item["LookupField"] !=
    null)
         string fieldValue = item["LookupField"].ToString();
         SPFieldLookupValue value =
    new SPFieldLookupValue(fieldValue);
         int lookupListItemID = value.LookupId;
         string lookupListValue = value.LookupValue;
    IF you look at the fieldValue above, you will see it is something like an integer, followed by delimiter ;# and then your template name. you can always just parse the string at the ;# as well if you were so inclined.

  • Audio and video to different drives?

    Hi
    I have HD footage from Final Cut Pro on a RAID and want to mix the audio in Soundtrack Pro.
    Is there any advantage in storing the audio on a seperate drive? This was not recommended for DV
    (though I'm not sur why).
    Thanks

    I used to live in France and used LaCie firewire disks a lot. Now I use ICE & ALUICE which have the Oxford bridge.
    Your 2 X 500GoFirewire in RAID 0 will only give you a theoretical 1.6 Gb/second,
    so I think your occasional problem comes from that. Even with only one video track, if you have lots of audio, try keeping it well de-fraged.

  • Can I have Leopard and Tiger on different drives???

    The whole question: Can I have Tiger on one drive, Leopard on the other, and run the same programs from whichever one is the boot drive?
    Will having the other OS on a nearby drive get in the way of anything? Both internal drives have Tiger on them, so If one goes nuts, the other might be helpful, but can that second drive become Leopard, so I can boot it and poke about? Will the Leopard drive be able to run the programs that are currently working within Tiger?
    Is this asking too much?

    I'm not sure I understand you question
    Yes you can run Leopard on one drive and TIger on another - I currently have leopard on an external drive and Tiger on my internal drive
    At David DeCristof's suggestion I cloned TIger onto the external drive (using Carbon Copy Cloner -- CCC) and upgraded to Leopard there
    Since both drives contain all the same data and applications (at least started that way) I can run anything on either -- if I save data from Tiger that I want to keep after I clone Leopard back to my internal drive I will have to be careful to stove it on the external drive
    It is, IMHO, a smart way to upgrade

  • Movies and Music on different drives

    Is there any way I can put my Movies in iTunes, but have them stored on my external drive (seperate from my Music on the internal one)?
    Thanks.

    Yes, there is a way. You simply create another itunes library on your external drive and import your movies into this library.
    You create a new library by holding "alt" key when opening itunes. It will ask you "choose" or "create" library. Click "create", name it and safe it on the external drive. Have fun!
