Keeping mp3 songs on shuffle

Is there some way to keep mp3 songs copied from a burned cd, stored in the iTunes library? And, get those songs to play and or transfer to the shuffle when the cd is no longer in the cd-rom?
I've realized after a few attempts that,in order to transfer cd copied mp3 songs from the iTunes library to the shuffle, I have to keep the cd in the cd-rom.That's not a problem but, any time I add non mp3 songs to my library and want to transfer them to my shuffle, I lose whatever mp3 songs on the shuffle during the update process because it can't find the original files for the mp3 songs. It can't find the files because iTunes library won't save the mp3 files for some reason. If I only had 1 cd of mp3's, I would just put it in the cd-rom each time but, that's not the case.
I've even tried adding the mp3 songs to a playlist but, doesn't make any difference
I'm using iTunes and iPod for the first time so, maybe I'm overlooking something obvious in how to do what I want to do.
Any tips would be appreciated.
I'm using a pc with XP.

Open the Advanced section of the iTunes preferences, check the box to copy the music to the iTunes library if it isn't already checked, and then import the music from the CDs again.

  • Keeping certain songs from shuffling

Is there any way to keep certain tracks from being shuffled. For example: can i make it so only music gets shuffled, and comedy doesn't?
    Thanks.

Sorry...that one I don't know. I suggest you repost with a new topic. Maybe someone else will have the answer.

how to save mp3 song and then transfer to itune library? i keep coping to library but its not showing up

Download it to your computer and make sure you know where the file is.
Right-click the file, choose Properties and look at the General tab. Make sure the "Type of file" is "MPEG Layer 3 audio file" and that the "Size" is at least several MB.
    Are we good so far?
If so, find your Automatically Add to iTunes folder (which is inside the iTunes Media folder) and drag your MP3 into it.

  • Ipod keeps repeating song, won't shuffle

ipod keeps repeating song, won't shuffle.  HELP!!

While playing any song on your iPod, tap the artwork to bring up the scrubber bar and additional controls. On the left hand side is a option for repeat. You want to make sure this icon is white (meaning it is set to Off). If it isn't tap it either one or two times to change its current setting.
    Any luck there?

  • Does the iPod nano keep changing songs if I keep it in my pocket?

I'm not going to be running or gymming with the iPod nano in my pocket. It is mostly for home use. I just wanted to know that since there is no HOLD/LOCK button, it may keep changing songs if put in a tight pocket while walking or travelling. Is that the case?
Also, should I buy it for home use? (With the occasional outdoor trip? Or do you think I just stick to my laptop)

If you have Shake to Shuffle turned off and you push the sleep button it shouldn't change songs in your pocket. Mine doesn't.

  • What is the last itunes version to keep Mp3 format

I am using Itunes in Panther with an old Tangerine G3 laptop. I need to use songs in Mp3 format to import into slideshows. I was running Itunes 7.7, but found my music trapped in Mp4 and most music could not be converted to Mp3. I downgraded to itunes 4 to keep Mp3 format. Now I can't connect to the itunes store. What is the latest version of itunes that can connect to the store and still keep Mp3 format?
I asked on the Panther board. They sent me here.

The version of iTunes you have has nothing to do with the format of songs from the iTunes Music Store. None of the songs from the iTunes Store are in MP3 format, the store has only ever sold songs in AAC (MP4) format. The standard 128 kbps songs from the store are protected ACC and cannot be converted, all you can do with standard songs is burn them to audio CD which you can use like any other CD you have. If you need songs that can be converted then you need to be sure and purchase iTunes Plus songs (they have a little plus sign beside the price). If you want any songs you import from CD etc, to be in MP3 format then adjust your import settings accordingly. In iTunes 7 go to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>Importing and choose MP3 as the format you require. When you want to convert a song the conversion command in the Advanced menu on the Finder bar and be labelled "Convert Selection to MP3". You can also purchase songs from other stores such as Amazon who sell unprotected MP3s which can be played in iTunes and used in other programs..

  • When burning a playlist to disc, how do you keep the songs in original order?

When burning a playlist to disc, how do you keep the songs in original order?

If you are burning an audio CD, they will burn in sequential order as in your playlist.
If you are burning an MP3 CD or a data CD, they will burn as individual files, and can be sorted any way you like when you view the CD.  For an MP3 CD, the files will be prepended with a sequence number, so if you sort by filename, they will be in the original order.

"If it's not too late delete itunes off your c
    drive and reinstallit on d"
No need to uninstall iTunes from the
main C: drive and install it to another drive. In
fact, it is a bit safer to keep the iTunes
Program installed on the same drive with the
    other programs.
iTunes operates as a database of information for your
music files. The actual music files are stored on
your PC, not within iTunes. iTunes keeps absolute
references of the music file location and other
information in its database file. This allows iTunes
to use music files from any location on the PC:
different directories/folders on the main HD, another
internal drive, and external drive or a network drive
(or any combination of the above). Each song
reference has a specific and hardcoded path so iTunes
can find and play (or sync) it.
Make sure you only change the location of the iTunes
Music Folder, rather than the iTunes
program. Move all the music files to the D: drive.
I respectfully disagree with your claim. I've been running itunes on a dedicated music drive for over a year and had not one issue. iTunes can still allocate a file from any one of my computer's 5 hard drives. Keeping it where other programs or OS are installed makes no difference at all. By installing iTunes on the music drive, the iTunes music folder is automatically where she would want it.

  • Excluding songs from shuffle mode

I enjoy listening to my library in the shuffle mode but am having trouble removing certain items (itrip stations, my 14 month old daughter's baby einstein music, etc.) from the shuffle. The library is too large to create a smart playlist. I have attempted the -get info, options, skip when shuffling route-for every unwanted selection but the songs and stations still appear in the shuffle mode. Is there a way to accomplish this without unchecking the songs? I have searched every tutorial and exhausted all of my support help. Thanks.

I have gone in under info, options, skip when shuffling for each song and updated the ipod afterward but the skipped songs keep getting into the shuffle. I'm not sure how to skip songs on the ipod itself as you suggested, I'll look into it. Thanks for your time and input.

  • Play ends when song ends - Shuffle and Continuous Play not working

I'm pretty sure I did not install an update prior to this starting. Since the problem began, however, I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled to see if that would solve the problem and it did not.
I typically play songs, on shuffle, from my main library. When I open iTunes shuffle is automatically selected and I click on the play button to choose a random song. Since this past thursday when I click the play button nothing happens. I have to manually choose a song to play. Once the song has ended iTunes does not choose another song (if on shuffle) nor does it play the proceeding song on the list (if on normal play). In order to play another song I have to choose another. Once that song ends I have to select another and so on.
I have checked the settings and I don't see anything that could be effecting the way iTunes plays the songs.

    *Figured it out*
Somehow, all of my songs where not checked....

  • Why Must I put in Credit / Debit Card Info, To Load mp3 songs on my iPhone?

I am curious as to why I "MUST" put in my
Credit Card / Debit Card information if I want
to download some basic games, use iTunes on
my PC-Computer to copy mp3 files to my 'new-used'
iPhone 3G phone, and when I validate more
information it comes back to "Please Provide
Credit Card / Debit Card Information" ect.. There is
no alternative means to simply load mp3 songs to
your iPhone w/out having to put in sensitive debit
    card / credit card information?
iTunes can't have a feature, where you pick the songs
you want to load on your iPhone from your PC or
Mac Book, for FREE? I guess.. I'll do without..
as this seriously hurts my feelings. *SIGH*
It would be nice and wonderful, iTunes can allow you
to load as many songs as possible from your PC-Desktop,
to your iPhone for FREE, without providing any sensitive
credit card / debit card information, without the FEAR of
being charged, and disputing with Credit Card Companies,
and disputing with Apple billing ect.
I think I'll stick to my old phone for my music files.
Or I hope I find some wealthy Jewish sugar mamas, or
Jewish sugar cougars that own 90% corporate stock into
Apple, Microsoft, and other music sharing software that
scans for viruses and malware ect. To help pay the prices
or Apple charge my debit / credit card for loading songs
onto my prepaid, brand-new-used, 3G iPhone.
I am not making sense, because the terms of agreements
I read don't really make sense to me?

If you download anything from the iTunes & App Store, with your existing Apple ID, you need to link a valid credit card info to your Apple ID.
You won't be charged for free games or syncing your music from computer.
If you do not want to put your credit card info in, use iTunes Gift cards which you can buy nearly everywhere.

how do i remove all the mp3 songs from my iphone?

If you have many songs, the easiest way is to remove them from iTunes on your computer and then synch your iPhone.  Otherwise, you can remove them one by one on your iPhone by going into the Songs section under Music on your iPhone and swiping left to right, which causes a "Delete" box to show up.  You then confirm the delete.
