Keeping Music in Keynote Slideshow

I have made a slideshow using Keynote and added music to the presentation. I then pressed record slideshow and saved the video to my desktop. Now what I am trying to do is post this video on Vimeo or YouTube so I can share it with friends. Problem is, no matter what I try to do the audio never seems to copy over. Any suggestions as to how I need to do this.

Keynote is awful for using music. You can't even make a song go for three slides and a new song start at the fourth slide.
Try iMovie. Open iMovie, File > Import. Choose the movie file that you exported out of Keynote. After it imports, drag the thumbnail to the clip viewer at the bottom of the iMovie window. Next, File > Import, and choose the first song. You can add fades or whatever by following the iMovie Help suggestions. After it is all arranged, File > Share. Choose "Expert Settings" to let you get the format that the hosting site wants (Youtube can use MP4, but they convert it themselves to FLV).

  • How do I make a Keynote slideshow controllable in an iDvd DVD?

How do I make a Keynote slideshow controllable on an DVD made with iDVD? And how do I make the slideshow completely auto with no return to a theme. I want people to be able to start the slideshow when they insert the DVD (no theme) and advance through the Keynote slide show (with all transitions, etc.,) by pressing a button on the remore controller to show eack slide - and advance at their option. Then they should have the option to repeat the slide show. Currently, the slideshow plays all the way through - and then pops into a theme intro - which I don't want. I thought it was set to run without a theme with my setting in the "Map" menu.I have exported a Quicktime version of the slideshow from Keynote which is completely controllable (slide by slide) on my MacBook Pro, but just runs straight through from an iDVD DVD. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help which I badly need...

How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:
    http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html
Our resident expert, Old Toad, also recommends this: there is a 3rd export/share option that give better results.  That's to use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option.  Then in iDVD go to the Media Browser and drag the movie into iDVD where you want it.
    Hope this helps!

  • Background music option in slideshow has ceased to work in iPhoto

I have followed the instructions in the "Setting slideshow options" page to the letter and am unable to hear or prelisten to background music for a slideshow from within iPhoto. I have no problem seeing my iTunes library from within iPhoto and the music I am selecting is not protected. This functionality used to work in iPhoto and I can listen to music directly in iTunes (not a hardware issue). The symptoms are that the slideshow starts as if no background music has been selected (it has of course). I have updated to iPhoto 6.0.5, I'm running iTunes 7.0.2 and I have all OS (10.4.8) and firmware updates on this MacBook Pro. I am starting to think that this functionality stopped working as a result of updating Mac software but I'm ready for something more obvious. Anyone had the same problem? Can anyone please help?

    Jed:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you repair disk permissions after each of the updater were run? It's important that it be done after any software installation or update. I'd give it another go and see if that helps. Also Terence's question regarding Quicktime is important.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto '08 (7.1)  Freezes when Clicking "Music" Icon for Slideshow

When I try to add music to a slideshow, iPhoto freezes up when clicking the Music icon. How to make it work again (it worked fine before the upgrade).

    Monique:
It actually not frozen, just as slow as molassas on an iceberg. It's a result of this last update, iLife Support 8.1. It may take up to 30 seconds but the slideshow pane will eventually open and you can set your options.
Be sure to report this at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html. The more reports on this subject the more likely they will get a fix out quickly.
A similar slowness is in accessing the preferences in iPhoto for many.

  • How can I keep timing in Keynote consistent before burning?

How can I keep timing in Keynote consistent before burning? And also, is there a way to preview the show, say halfway through it, without the music starting at the beginning. This solution would save a lot of hours of prep  before that final burn?

I do tons of presentations and know exactly what you are talking about.  I have experienced presentations that (I know this sounds illogical) seem to get a little out of sync depending on the projector I am using for the presentation.
I know this is not a great soulution but it might help a little.  With 325 pictures make 3 presentations and link them together.  This is not pretty but may help some.  This way you have 3 specific points to start and edit from and won't experience as much of a domino effect if one is off.
If you are just using pictures and want a fairly automated presentation you might also think of using iMovie where you can have a little more flexibility with the soundtrack and timing.  If you use iMovie you can edit each picture individually as far as time and still be able to see where you are in the soundtrack in one "big picture" no pun intended.
Keynote is awesome in most things but there are a few that are still very quirky.
Hope this helps at least some.

  • How do I use ITunes on my laptop with 2 different accounts and keep music etc separate

We have one lap top and now have 2 separate ITunes accounts.  We want our own (different) music on our own devices.  How do we keep music library separate?  Until now it was just one library, but we have downloaded from CD's my husbands old county music (loaded outside of iTunes into folder on desktop). But ifnitnis imported it will show up in the main iTunes.  How do we keep things separate?  Too bad you can't have multiple iTunes downloaded, or can you for separate accounts?

There's a few ways of managing multiple devices (and keeping seperate content on each). The following document is worth checking through:

I have a MacBook Air and recently downloaded the new operating system, 10.10 OSX Yosemite. Since that time, I am no longer able to access my personal ITunes library to add music to IPhoto slideshows.  I put I tunes library on my desktop, as suggested. How do I drag it to the I Photo slideshow?

That crash appears to be casued by the Facebook plug-in.
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • How do I keep music on my iPhone vs iCloud? (It keeps disappearing)

How do I keep music that I downloaded to my iPhone from disappearing after a period of time?  I recently purchased some music from iTunes on my iPhone (running iOS 8) and downloaded the music. A week or so later I went to play the music and found that it was no longer on the iPhone but could be downloaded from iCloud. However, I was driving in an area without sufficient wireless coverage - and that downloading would count against my monthly plan.  It had all been previously downloaded over WiFi.
It seems like Apple is trying to "help" me by taking music I haven't played for a bit and taking that off my phone to free up space... or something like that.
I have NOT synced my phone with iTunes in a long while, and someone suggested I need to do that and set up songs in playlists so that they stay on my iPhone. That just seems like a lot of work.
I just want to purchase music, download it, and have it stay on my iPhone!  Any ideas how I can stop the music from being removed?
    thank you!

The only reason music is removed is if the phone runs out of memory needed by some other function. Check your available memory; if it is very low that is what is happening.

  • Can't see my iTunes library when selecting background music for a slideshow

I don't see my iTunes library when I'm selecting background music for a slideshow -- I have tried using iphoto help (seee below) and it didn't work:
"If you don't see your iTunes library:
Quit both iTunes and iPhoto. Relaunch iTunes first, then iPhoto.
If you recently installed iLife software, it's a good idea to open each application in the following order: iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, and then iDVD. Because these applications are integrated to browse and import files from each other's media libraries, this ensures that you will be viewing the most up-to-date versions of your music library, photo library, and movies folder no matter what application you're using.
Recreate your iTunes Music Library.xml file. Quit iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and iTunes. Click the Finder icon in the Dock, and choose Go > Go to Folder. Type "~/Music/iTunes" or "~/Documents/iTunes" and click Go. Drag the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file to your desktop. Open iTunes and create a new playlist by choosing File > New Playlist. Quit iTunes and open iPhoto to make sure you can see your iTunes library when creating a slideshow."

I have this problem also - tried following advice giving from original problem.
My settings are through the what I call the Lug Nut icon - no arrows and no dimple showing on my screen.
Is there some small thing I'm missing here - weird thing is that iDVD allows me to access my iTunes library - no problem.
When I go to Finder it tells it can't find my Music folder??? I can see it in the sidebar .....
Any suggestions - I don't know how to send those screen shots but what a great idea.

If you're on Windows, check out a free program called Audacity--it's fantastic.  With Audacity the process of converting a 48.000 kHz to 44.100 kHz is as simply as opening, changing the sample rate, and then exporting again, as an MP3.

  • DO I HAVE TO KEEP MUSIC IN MY COMPUTER, TOO?

So, I downloaded music and save it on my PC. Then I import them in my iPod Touch and then I deleted all the songs from my computer to save disk space. But now in iTunes, they says Locate that song but I already deleted them from the computer. So I just want to ask that do I have to keep music files in my computer, too becaus it takes lot of space in it...

I would. Music is not guaranteed to remain in the store forever. If it is removed from the store, you can't download it again.

  • Any way to keep music videos out of smart playlists on iPhone?

I've tried any number of critera ("Media Kind", "Kind is not ...") to keep Music Videos out of my Smart Playlists on my device, but to no avail. They work on my Mac, but when they sync to my iPhone, the playlist contains videos.

Michael, thank you!! I've tried using "Kind", and "Media Kind" and neithor worked. How funny, and simple, that using a comment criteria works.
It is still unfortunate that using "Kind" or "Media Kind" criteria does not work on mobile devices, since that would require no manual modifications on my part. I do sure hope Apple fixes that someday.
