Keeping my iSpeak separate from my music

I recently bought an iSpeak disc to upload to my iPod but I can't figure out if there's a way to keep it separated from my music (similar to an audiobook I assume).
As much as I would love to have random Italian phrases pop up when I have my iPod on shuffle, I really would prefer to have them separated.
Any suggests?

With iTunes 8.x and above you have the option to tell iTunes to treat any audio file as an audiobook. Simply select the tracks, *Get Info.*, then on the options tab set *Media kind* to Audiobook. You can also set options to *Remember playback position* and *Skip when shuffling*.
Assuming, however, that the books consist of more than one file you may have problems if you plan to listen to them on an iPod. The Audiobooks feature was originally designed for books that have been stitched up into a single file and hasn't been updated to reflect the changes that now make multi-track audiobooks easy to work with in iTunes. The main issue is that the iPod lists all audiobook files by track title/chapter name so unless you rename every track using a scheme such as *Book Title, Chapter XX* the tracks will play out of sequence. There are tools for creating iPod-friendly audiobooks for which Aldo on Audiobooks is probably the best reference. Personally I don't bother with the extra effort and just have an "Audiobooks" playlist folder containing sub-folders for each author and within these playlists for each audiobook. Although I still mark the files as Audiobooks to keep them out of my main music section when it comes to the iPod I ignore it's Audiobooks feature and use my own playlists for access.
Note that I've used leading digits in the playlist names to arrange these in chronological rather than alphabetical order.

  • Keeping certain files separate from my music files - is this possible?

    Hi iPoders,
I have a lot of "courses" - books and spoken stuff
and meditations that I would like to put on my iPod classic (120)
But I do not want them mixed in with my music.
I was hoping that I could have put them into the "audio books" catagory, but it seems I can't do that.
So then is the best way to just put them in a play list?
(or can I drag and drop them into the audio books section?)
And if I do that, and then hit shuffle in the main window of iPod, will they be included in that shuffle?
    I hope that makes sense.
I really want to keep them separate and choose to listen to them when I desire.
    Thanks for the insight.

  • Keep gmail contacts separate from iPhone local contacts

Is there a way to use the iPhone mail app set up for Google to keep gmail contacts separate from iPhone contacts when you enable the Contacts during the setup?  When I enable Contacts, I get a warning saying if I keep the local contacts on the phone, there could be duplicates.  If I continue down that path, the iPhone syncs the local contacts and they appear in my Gmail contacts list.  I'm guess if I were to have any contacts in my Gmail, they would have been merged.  If I DO NOT enable contacts, and tap the "+" symbol when I want to add a recipient, it pulls from the local contacts.
I want to be able to only see Gmail contacts when I use the mail app when configured for a Google account.  In other words, if I only have one contact in Gmail, I want to only see that one contact when I'm sending a message from that specific account.  I don't want to see all the other local contacts that are on the phone.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks for any help.

The "All Contacts" view will consolidate all of your sources into one list. This is primarily for ease of use. Contacts synced from different sources, e.g. iCloud, Outlook, Yahoo, etc. are actually kept in separate data stores. There will be no cross-contamination of your address books.

  • Keeping spoken word separate from music--h

    I have a Zen Microphoto, 8gb
    --I have 2 "problems"
-I want to isolate my spoken word files from the music files so I dont get bits of spoken word when I do "shuffle", play all, random, etc.
-My spoken word wont play back in the correct order--the tracks are numbered correctly, it appears, but it orders them like so:
    0
    2
    20
    etc.
I tried making it 0, 02, in the explorer but it just shows, not 0.
Everything I have on my player was "tagged" with the Grace Note service thing when I put it on (I was pleasantly suprised it had the info for the 2 spoken word cd's!)
    any suggestions appreciated!
    cheers!

I will give that a try.
Would making a playlist solve the play order thing as well? Just make a playlist of the spoken word tracks? (this really seems totally redundant to me which is why I have being looking for an alternati've solution)
It would be really cool if the folders were like the Rio my wife has where spoken word is a separate category from music and not listed as a "genre" under music.
    thanks.

  • Keeping mp3 tones separate from N73's Music Librar...

I find that my N73 music library also picks up mp3 tones that I've created myself. It's a little silly when I'm listening to music and every now and then it plays a ringtone.
Is there a way or a place to store those mp3 files so that they're excluded from the music library? Or should I be saving them in a different file format that the library won't scan for?
    Thanks.

What format are your tones in? I have noticed the music player doesn't seem to add wav files to the music library. Perhaps if the ringtone is converted to a wav file this might solve the problem??
My one and only custom ringtone (a recording of ringtone of the phones from 24) is an mp3, but doesn't get added to the music library (because of its location in the phone memory). On my phone wav files are added to library though (I have experimented with ripping mono wavs of The Beatles' Rubber Soul album). The way the library detects music on the N91 and N73 must be different.
Actually, if I go into Menu -> Media -> Gallery -> Tracks it shows the ringtone and playlists as well as the main music tracks, but i would normally use Menu -> Music which doesn't list the track in the phone memory and puts the playlists in a separate menu item to the tracks.Message Edited by martin_eyles on 23-Nov-200702:07 PM

  • How do I keep my contacts separate from other users under the same Apple ID?

First, we have a single Apple ID that we use to log into iTunes and App Store.  We also have separate iPads.  Recently, my wife purchased an iPhone 4S.  During setup, she entered the Apple ID we use.  What happened next was that all of my contacts were added to her phone.  Then she followed the instructions to import her contacts from her old cell phone.  When that was done, all of my contacts were deleted from her phone.  Worse, they were deleted from my Address Book on the iMac (my account) and my iPad.  How do I keep my contacts safe from being deleted?  Do we need to have seperate Apple IDs?

Go to settings>iclod>then mark "no" in  "contacts" .

  • Keeping business contacts separate from personal contacts

    Dear All,
I'm sure this is not an uncommon situation and I bet that thousands if not millions of individuals have this same or similar problem.
I am self employed and use my MacBook Pro for both work and personal purposes.
I use "Gmail" for my personal email and I have a separate "Google Apps" account (using my own domain) that handles my business emails.
I use Apple's Mail application for both email accounts mentioned above (setup using IMAP settings)
For various and obvious reasons I'd like to keep my business contacts separate from my personal ones.
I searched for ways to have two separate address books but it doesn't seem to be possible.
I read about Plaxo but I don't want to pay a yearly/monthly fee.
I don't want to create a separate user account on my Mac because I'd be switching between them too often throughout the day. That would be annoying.
Soooo, has anyone come up with any clever workarounds?
How do you fellow freelancers deal with this?
I'd appreciate any ideas, tips or workarounds.
    Thanks! – Xavier

Did anyone end up finding a solution to this problem?
A complication I find with address books, groups, and even with the trial of Bento that I played with, is that you cannot move individual contacts from the main pool without deleting them altogether. And there is nowhere else to move them to.
As agodfrin says, it would be great if you could make them invisible. Or, if you could move them to an "infrequently needed" or "private" group so that they no longer appear in the main group. This is most relevant to me because I often add new contacts when out with my iPhone, and they are automatically added to the main list. I then have to go back and find them like needles in a haystack, and there is no way of viewing a chronoligical listing of entries in order of date first entered. I end up searching through the same irrelevant old contacts again and again to find an weed out my numerous recent ones. It's a real time waster when trying to send out marketing materials to relevant people.
I saw that there was an app previously available which listed contacts chronologically, but it is no longer available. I think we really need to be able to separate our main contact list into different branches.
I'm flabberghasted that there doesn't seem to be more of a demand for this kind of logical functionality.

  • With iCloud, how can I keep my devices separate from my wifes on updates and sharing?

I know that its a bit early to be asking but with iCloud coming out how am i suppose to keep my music and apps apart from what my wife has on her phone and computer? Is there a way to set up seperate iCloud accounts or do I just have to turn off her iCloud all together?

Until it is turned on, you cannot turn it off (since there is nothing to turn off).

  • Keeping edited versions separate from master files

I keep my RAW masters (digital neg if you will) on a separate 2TB drive. I run my images from a referenced library and i store my libraries on a separate HDD. However, every time i use a plug-in or create a PDS file, it stores that new PSD right along side the master. so every few months i have to "relocate Masters" them to another drive. this in turn causes some defragmentation and filles up my master drive quicker. question for the pro:
can aperture be assigned to save these edited versions elsewhere or ask where to save?
what strategies do you use in this case? some best practices. thanks

When you use an external editor, a new master is created. This is not simply a version. In the case of referenced files, the new master is stored in the same folder as the master it was based on- which is logical. I know of no way to change this behavior.
Or was that not the question?

  • How can I keep my contacts separate from my husband's contacts?

My husband and I both have iPhone 4's and we both use the same iTunes account. But, he doesn't want all of my contacts to show up on his phone and vice-versa. Is there a way to keep them separate? Everytime we sync our phones, we both end up with the entire contact list. And now with iCloud, it's all or nothing. I tried turning off iCloud for contacts and it deleted ALL of the contacts, so I turned it back on and it put them all back on. Any ideas? Or am I stuck with them all?

I have the same problem, have you been able to figure this out?  I spend a lot of time deleting my husband's contacts off of my phone.

  • How can I use iCloud, but keep Outlook contacts separate from Yahoo/iPhone contacts?

I'm using a new laptop that uses Outlook and I want to share those contacts on my iPhone without merging them with personal and Yahoo contacts.  Our tech guy told me to use my Apple ID, but that is what I use for iTunes, etc and when I used that ID it merged Outlook with my personal contacts which is what I don't want to do.  Do I need to create a separate Apple ID for the laptop and use my old Apple ID for my Yahoo and iPhone?

The "All Contacts" view will consolidate all of your sources into one list. This is primarily for ease of use. Contacts synced from different sources, e.g. iCloud, Outlook, Yahoo, etc. are actually kept in separate data stores. There will be no cross-contamination of your address books.

  • I ordered the new ipad, I already have an ipad and an ipod, can I use my same itunes for all of them? I want to turn my original ipad over to my partner and keep its contents separate from mine. Thx

What do I have to do to set up the new ipad and keep the old one as it is?
    Thx,

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!)   I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

  • How to keep adjustment layers separate from other layers (PSE8)?

I'd appreciate some guidance on how to keep the adjustment layers for a standard layer from adjusting the background (lowest) layer.
    Scenario:
I've created a solid background layer to serve as a backdrop for the image of a small sculpture. Above the background layer is a layer of just the sculpture image. Above the layer of the sculpture image are a number of adjustment layers that are meant to apply to the sculpture layer only. I'd like to know how to keep the upper adjustment layers from adjusting the background (lowest) layer.
    Thanks

Highlight each adjustment layer (Ctrl+Click) in the layers pallet
    Then press Ctrl +G
The thumbnail icons should move slightly right with a downward arrow indicating clipping to the sculpture layer below.
