Keeping Old Text Plan While Upgrading

Hey Guys,
I recently upgraded my phone through Amazon Wireless. However, I have not activated the phone yet because I am unsure if I will be able to keep my old text plan. I currently have the 5000+unlimited member to member text plan which seems to no long exsist. Since, I am the only one that texts on my family plan, I rather keep this plan which is $20 a month instead of signing up for the $30 unlimited family share plan. Will verizon be able to grandfrather my text plan even though I upgraded through Amazon Wireless?  Any advice would be great. Thanks

Congratulations on the recent upgrade. A new phone just in time for the Holidays.
To answer your question, yes, you will be allowed to keep your old text messaging plan on your line after the upgrade. If for any reason the messaging plan drops off the account you can contact me immediately and I can access your account and make sure the plan is added back to your line.
I trust this information has fully answered your concern.

  • Can't keep old data plan?

My daughters droid "smart" phone died so we put her number on an older "dumb" phone we had from previous upgrades until she can afford to buy a new smartphone. While talking to customer service I was told that she can't keep her old unlimited data plan when she gets her new phone that she has to switch to 2G plan. I don't understand why this is since had her phone not died she would still have the unlimited plan. Why?

Good afternoon and thank you for all of your replies.  This is a really good question, and I will gladly clarify the answer, as there seems to be a lot of different responses.
You are able to change back the unlimited data plan from a non-Smartphone within 14 days of removing it.  Once the 14 days have passed, there is no way to go back to the unlimited data and you will have to choose from our current pricing.  Therefore, if your daughter will be replacing her Smartphone within 14 days, she will be able to have the unlimited data plan.
I trust this information is helpful.
    Thank you,

  • Can I keep old apps if I upgrade OSX to Mavericks?

    Hello all,
I have been very satisfied with my MBA mid 2013 build, and all the apps. I really use Pages '09 & Numbers '09 (most of the features), so much that I've switched everything from MS Word and Excel. But, I do NOT want to upgrade to Pages 5.1 or Numbers 3.1. It seems they are dumbed down versions, good for iPhone use, and many users are  very unhappy. I learned that the features I use the most are gone.
Question: Can I upgrade the OS X to Mavericks, but keep the old Pages & Numbers apps? IOW, not upgrade them, only the OSX?
    Thank you, Cinilla

Since the new desktop Macs force Mavericks on you, have you considered an Apple-refurbished iMac old enough to have come with Mountain Lion? That'd come with a new warranty to which you could add AppleCare.
I'd suggested questioning a Mavericks upgrade because I just went through that decision myself, coming from Lion and experimenting with both ML and Mavericks, and there were some quirks in Mavericks that just didn't seem worth dealing with. Went with ML and while that meant dealing with the Disk Utility formatting bug in both ML and Mavericks, at least Lion and ML still have a family resemblance.

  • Is is possible to keep my current plan when upgrading?

I have a LG Env Touch and was thinking about upgrading to the Apple iPhone 4. I currently have unlimited data plan and was not sure if I will be able to keep that plan when I upgrade.

No, you will be required to pick from one of the tiered data plans.
Unlimited data on a feature phone is not the same as unlimited data on a smartphone. Although the same price, they are coded differently in Verizon's systems and only the smartphone unlimited plan is grandfathered in.

  • Will messages app keep old text messages?

  • WIll i have to choose a texting plan?

I don't have a data plan on my phone but I do have unlimited texting. Will I have to choose the plan when ordering the iphone or can I pass it?

    NO NO NO!
You DO NOT need a texting 'plan'. If you do not select a plan for text messages, your account will simply be billed "pay as you go" for texts. You will pay per text message sent/received, rather than having a set plan. If you're not a texter, then simply select this 'plan', and you won't have to pay any texting charges. A data plan is required as it is a smartphone (all Verizon smartphones require a data plan) but a texting plan is completely optional.
If you read the OP's ORIGINAL question, they state that they already HAVE unlimited texting but, NO data. One would assume he/she wants to keep unlimted texting and is asking if they can drop it since they are now getting a unlimited data plan.
If they do not want a texting plan, then of course you can remove it but of course you will pay per text. Nobody is forced to take a texting plan.
Assuming someone HAS unlimited texting already leads me to believe that they do quite a bit of texting. SO the answer would be unless you want to pay insane amounts in pay-per-text texting fees then keep your texting plan, unlimited data will not replace it.
And if they are asking if they simply need to add texting again during the order process- the answer would be no. The only thing you would have to add is unlimited data.
And while we're at it, if you feel like you are paying too much for unlimited texting you can always drop it to a lower cost texting plan.
That should cover just about everything.

  • What is the process to upgrade at full retail, switch SIM cards, and keep old plan with unlimited data feature

I'm on a really old plan...America's Choice Family Share 500, Free N&W, with 2 lines, and each line has the unlimited data feature on the line.
Neither line has a texting package.
I currently have a Droid Bionic (large SIM card) & want to get a Droid Turbo (small SIM card).  It is literally cheaper for me to pay full retail for a phone (actually 2 phones) than switch to a "More Everything" plan because my plan is so old.  Across the two lines, we probably only use 3-5 GB/mo, so we aren't 'heavy' data users, but we aren't using 1-2GB/mo either.
I went into a VZW Corporate store, and they said I should be able to keep my plan with unlimited data if I pay full retail, but the sales person said their system has been knocking off unlimited data for other customers, even for something as small as a SIM card change.
I tried upgrading on verizonwireless.com, and the system tried to kick me out of my America's Choice Family Share 500 plan.
What is the process to get a new phone, pay ~$600 for it, get the new SIM card assigned to the account, and keep my calling plan with unlimited data?
(I also have the option to turn on & off Mobile Hot-Spot for $30/mo at will...but probably only have it active for 1 week a year, if that)
    Thanks!

Just log into your my verizon and order a phone at the full retail price. When you add the phone to the cart you choose 2 yr price, edge or full and then hit add. You will have to choose a plan but that plan does not go into effect since you are buying a phone out of contract, it is just part of the process. You then will not lose the data

  • Transfer Upgrade - Keeping Unlimited Data Plan

We have a family plan with 5 devices.  Two of the lines have unlimited data, one has the $30/2gb plan, and two are basic phones.  We have several upgrades available since the basic phones haven't been upgraded regularly.
The person with the $30/2gb plan recently upgraded to an Iphone 4S in April, but now she has her eye set on the Iphone 5 when it comes out.
If she upgrades to the Iphone 5 in October, can I use her old Iphone 4S and keep my Unlimited plan?
(I wouldn't technically be upgrading my line.  Only her line would be an upgrade.  I would just be using the "discarded" phone.  I have switched back and forth between my current phone and my old phone before without issue when I left my current phone at work.  However, I am just worried there might be some footnote in the new plans that says you can't do this.)

I was informed by Verizon Customer Service that, after June 28, Transfer Upgrades of a subsidized phone to a line with the Unlimited Feature would automatically result in the loss of that Unlimited Feature. What remains a gray area to me is if the subsidized phone was purchased prior to June 28 and then subsequently transferred to the Unlimited Line. Verizon is tracking all subsidized phone purchases from their store, so it seems there may be a risk unless Verizon is also factoring in the date of subsidized purchase (pre- or post- June 28). Time will tell for sure.
WOW, that is a new one... I am going to have to check this out with the couple of Verizon people I know. This would be very interesting to know if it is true..

  • I have an old text message that keeps appearing in my messgaes after i have deleted it, how do i fix this?

I recently upgraded to iOS 5 and now i keep having an old text message that keeps coming back after deleting it, i have tried resetting my settings and closing the messages app to start again, i have yet to try restoring my phone i just want to know if anyone can come up with some alternative, thanks!

Hey I have been having the SAME issue. It is so annoyning. I have the 4S and iOS 5 and I restored it and everything and it is still there. I havent been able to find anything, I think Im just going to go to the Apple store and see if I can get a new one.

  • I upgraded my iphone to 5.0.1 and ever since, it has decided to delete old text messages. Only with one contact though, not everybody. So for every new text message I send this person, an old one gets removed. Why? I don't want this to happen.

Connect the phone directly to the computer, not a hub.
Disconnect all other USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
    Disable your firewall
    Disable your antivirus
In iTunes if it recognizes the phone click "Restore"
If it doesn't recognize the phone:
Disconnect the phone from the phone end, leave the USB cable plugged into the computer
Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until the screen turns black, excactly 10 seconds, then release the SLEEP but continue holding the HOME (If an Apple logo appears you have held SLEEP too long; do it over)
While holding HOME connect the cable to the phone
As soon as iTunes recognizes the phone release the HOME button and it should restore.
If neither procedure works note the exact error message and post it.

  • I plan to upgrade to a newer iPad. If I reset my old one will I be able to get all my data on my new one?

I plan to upgrade to a newer iPad.  After I reset my old iPad to clear it for sale, will I be able to get my old data to my new iPad? I will be getting a WIFI only iPad.  My old one is a 3G/WIFI.

Do not reset the old iPad until you transfer all purchase, backup and sync with iTunes one final time. After you have down all three you can then reset the iPad to factory settings.
I would NOT reset the old iPad until you set up the new one just in case - but that is up to you. Before you reset the iPad ...
Connect your iPad to the computer and launch iTunes. If you use auto sync just go ahead and let the iPad sync. Before you disconnect the iPad, right click on the iPad name on the left side under the devices heading and select Transfer Purchases. Let the process complete and then right click on the iPad name again and select Backup. Let the process complete and then sync one last time. Now all of your purchased content should be in iTunes on your computer and all of your data will be in the backup.
When you set up the new iPad you can restore from the backup of the first iPad and resycn all of your content as well.
