Keeping photos in order

I have been trying to copy an album in Elements 8 to a DVD, but I cannot find a way to keep thim in the order that I have arranged them in the album.  What is the correct procedure? It's a Windows 7 system.
Also, is there a way to create the DVD so it can be played on a TV DVD player?

Once you have created and sorted your album, select all and 'export' to a new folder with the option of renaming the files with a common name + order number.
In Windows, you may sort your files by filename, type, date... choose filename.

How can I keep my photos in the order I have them on IPHOTO in albums when I burn them to a CD.
They do not stay in order, but scatter all over the CD.   I number them starting at 1 using no 0 nor double
numbers.  When I need a double number I use a letter,  like 9f.
How can I keep the people's names under the photos when I burn a CD?

Files on disk have no order - the order is supplied by the viewing program (like the finder) - for example using the finder you can view the same set of files in alpha order, by size, by date created, etc, etc - so all you can do is give the files an atribute that the viewing program can use and tell the viewer what view options to use - you have no control over it
The most common way to do this is to export photos using the sequential file name option (see the user tip on exporting fro details on the available options) and then have the viewer view in alpha sort

  • How do you keep photos in order that they are in on PC?

Ho do I make sure the order of my photos on my iPad match the same order in my PC folders ?
    Ipad -  ios 6.1.3
    PC - Windows 7
    iPad, 4th Generation

The iPad defaults to putting things in 'event order'....as in date order.
The only way I know of would be to get a program that edits the properties of your files and edit the 'save' date to either put them in order, or one thing I did was make all the  files the exact same date and time, then it defaulted to name order.
Or look for a different photos app that has better functionality than the built in one.

  • How do I keep photos in a particular order when burning to disc?

I made an Album in iPhoto5 of 200 photos from a recent trip. The photos in the Album don't follow the sequence I shot them. I want the photos to stay in the new order I've given them, and I'd like to include titles to help explain many of the pictures. When I put the photos into a folder in Finder to burn them, they go out of order. Can I asign sequential numbers to this Album and still retain the titles? How do I keep them in order??? Thanks

    Hi Tom,
You should be able to make a slidshow almost as easy as what you're trying to do right now... it'll take some pratice
Personally, I have both exported a slideshow from iPhoto to iDVD and also created a slideshow directly in iDVD, the latter is a better fit for what you're doing.
Open iDVD, create new project, name as you like and save, will auto open to work window, click on 'customize', pick a theme you like. Now click on 'Map' and in the customize pane click on 'Media'. In the media pane you have itunes, photos and movie, select photos... you're iPhoto library will appear along with all the albums you might have created and organized. Here's what makes it sweet, you can drag each album into the 'Map' Theme icon and it will automatically import and turn into a slideshow and take on the name of the album... to see your progess hit the Preview button... you'll have to do a little learning and tweaking, you can add music etc., but that's it, you made a slide show ready to burn to a dvd...
My suggestions would be to organize albums as you like, named appropriately and just have fun with it. You can save and go back and edit at a later date. Use the highlight and delete or cut options to remove etc etc etc...
You can burn project using the File > Burn DVD option or you can save the FINAL production use the File > Save As Disk Image option, and you can burn the DVD through disk utility which will give you more options on burn speed and buring at 1x speed may yield the best results...

  • Keep photos in the same order that they appear in an iPhoto album?

I am uploading photos from an iPhoto album to Google+.  I want to keep the photos in the same order that they are appear in the album, but the order is rearranged.  ANy idea on how to keep photos in the same order?
    Thanks.

If the photos are sorted by file name by Google+ you'll need to rename them in iPhoto via the Photos ➙ Batch Rename ➙ Title to Text menu with the checkbox checked to add a sequential number to the end of the file name:
Export them to a folder on the Desktop via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu with File Name = Use Title:

How do you keep photos in the same sequence in the iPhone as they are in the folder on the PC??

When I sync my photos they are listed alphabetically (by folder) and within the folders, listed alphabetically again by the name assigned to the photo. The only way I can think of to keep the order that you have in your computer would be to assign a letter as a prefix to each photo. If you have more than 26 photos in a folder, you can double the letters, etc. I think that will keep the photos in the order you want.

  • Saving photo folder order

Can NO ONE suggest a way to keep photo folders in order on an  iPad after sync?  I can fin d NO rationale for the chaos every sync throws my albums into.

I've tried both ways.  Nothing will keep the original order if I have made a single addition or change to ANY album.  I suspect there may be some hidden chronological order involved, but can't fathom it and can find no way to kill chronology in my rather old iPhoto on my laptop. All I can do is manually rearrange them after each addition, which the numbers help me do.
Interestingly, I have noticed that when I open Photos in Pages on my iPad to import one into a document, it shows the albums in the chaos arrangement, so iPhoto has SOME arrangement rule it's using.

  • Importing photos in order

I have a disc of photos to import that I want to keep in order. The photos come from several sources with assorted titles. How do I keep the burn order of the disc in an event folder?

Try the following: drag the CD with the photo into the sidebar of iPhoto creating an album as it imports the files. Then check the album to see what the order is. If it's not what you want set the sort to manual, arrange them in the order you want and the Batch Change->Date to whatever date you want with 1 minute intervals between images. You can have that date and time written to the original files or not. Then in any event that's sorted by date ascending they will be in the original order from the CD.
I'm guessing they are in alphanumerical order as that's the order the Finder users.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Not a problem when using iPhoto on a Mac, which the transfer of photos is primarily based on - not manually managing photo storage as seems to be common with Windoze.
The same should be available with a supported photo management app on a PC.

  • Unable to complete photo book order on ipad

Hi, I hope this is the right place to get some help. Regarding placing an iphoto photo book order on an ipad.
I have been working on a photo book project for a long time, and want to finally order some copies of the book. Everything has worked fine, except that I get a message that I have some clipped text that may be exceeding its boundaries. I can't figure out where this is, no warning triangles are showing, so I choose to proceed with the order anyway. The next page is black/dark grey with a small icon of the front page of the photo book, and it says "done" ("ferdig" in Norwegian) on top. I can click on some words in blue writing on the top right of the page, "add delivery address" (in Norwegian). When I try to type somehing in there, nothing happens.
Aaargh, this is so frustrating! I have checked that my address and credit card info is valid, in my apple id-account(itunes).
Shouldn't there be some uploading of the album? And a choice of how many copies etc I want? I have checked my email and there are no order confirmations, so I apparently havent placed an order yet, despite the "done"/"ferdig" on top of the page.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? What can I do?

    Hey there Nyibyen,
It sounds like you are unable to purchase a project youve been working on for a good long while, but the order process is not working as expected. I would start by verifying you have Express Checkout enabled in your Account Settings when you are at http://store.apple.com, with this info:
You can review or edit your express checkout settings by accessing the Account section from the main navigation bar. Sign-in with your Apple ID and password to view your account settings. Click on the Edit button if you wish to edit your shipping address or payment method. You can also enable or disable the express checkout feature for this computer by moving the slider to the respective position.
    From: Express Checkout
              http://store.apple.com/us/help/express_checkout_faq
If so and your other billing info is correct, quit all the running apps on the iPad:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue is still unresolved, try resetting your network settings and attempting the order again.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
From: iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • HT4221 I arranged my photos in order on my PC and when I synced them to my ipad they appeared in a completely different order. How can I get my folders to transfer exactly how they are on my PC?

I arranged my photos in order and in folders on my PC. When I synced them to my IPad they were in the correct folders but completely out of order. How can I get them to sync in the order they appear on my PC?.

On iOS 5 (if viewing individual photo albums on the iPad) the photo sorting order should be by filename, on iOS 4 it's date taken (from here) :
iOS 4 sorts photos by the Date Taken tag of the photos. Specifically, your device uses the pictures' EXIF tags to determine the Date Taken information. Your device will look for the following EXIF tags within your pictures:
    Capture Date
    Date Time Digitized
    Date Time Original
    Last Modified
So you will need to change their names or their dates
