Keeping PSE8 and Bridge alongside PSE10

Anyone here who knows how to do this ??
Can I create a shortcut to PSE8 and Bridge and use this combo when I want to ?
I guess that the new icon will be for PSE10 ?
I run Mac/Safari/ OSX Lion.

Do I set the file type associations in Bridge ?
If you want bridge to always open a particular file type in PSE or in a particular version of PSE go to Bridge>Preferences>File Type Associations and use the pulldown menu to the right of the kind of file you want to change.
But I read above that I will have two icons so that should be OK
Huh? If you're referring to an older thread that claims you can make a regular alias (like for a document) and put it in the dock, that's just plain incorrect. You can't do that with a program.

Can someone point me to where this link lives? I want PSE8 to launch Bridge CS5 instead of Bridge CS4, and I can't find how they're tied together.

Keeping PS CS5 and Bridge CS5 after installing CC versions?

I have downloaded and set up Photoshop CC and Bridge CC. Do I need to keep Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5 on my computer? Will I lose valuable items or functions isf I deletete them?

No you don't,but in the event you decide to unsubscribe or if there is a problem with CC,you will have something to fall back on. Unless you really need the space,it won't hurt to keep it around as backup.

Many communication issues between Photoshop CC 2014 and Bridge since update

Since I upgraded Photoshop to the CC 2014 version, I've had many issues on using Ps and Bridge together. Here they are:
1. Mini Bridge is absent
2. When clicking to "Browse in Bridge" from Photoshop, the window for my Creative Cloud app opens instead with a message asking whether I am sure if I want to update to "this version of Bridge" (image below). I already updated Bridge and re-installed it, but the same problem keeps occurring.
3. This one is the most frustrating one: the tools menu in Bridge does not show the options for opening images in Photoshop anymore. This was invaluable when working with Bridge and Photoshop at the same time.
The thing is that these issues have been going on for a long, long time, and I don't see any messages from Adobe to at least explain the reason for such blunders. There are many people complaining of the same issues here in this forum, so how come no fixes, no responses from Adobe yet?
Please let me know if you've found a fix for this.

I do not use the bridge often mostly just use it to edit metadata. I never remember tools being available in the right click on thumbnails menu list. Tools a bridge menu in its manu bar when all start-up scripts are enabled Photoshop should be in it.. If the start-up scripts are not enable you must enable them and then restart the Bridge for them to be available. My Bridge CC tools menu after being updated for CC 2014 has the same tools menu option Photoshop with 8 items. Are you writing you no longer have a Bridge CC tools menu with Photoshop and the 8 options? I use windows and though I use Adobe Bridge CC 64 bit version the startup script folder that seems to be used for Adobe Bridge CC 64 bit is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CC\Adobe Bridge" Program File (x86) don't know why and in there there should be a file "bridge-6.jsx" I also see a "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CC\Adobe Bridge" with the same file in it however Adobe Bridge CC 64Bit seems to use the Programs Files (x86) path for when I put my startup script for X's Image Processor Pro into the Programs Files path Bridge CC 64bit did not list it as an available startup script. Adobe software is far from being bug free. I have no idea where startup bridge scripts reside your Mac use finder to make sure there is a "bridge-6.jsx" startup script...

Aperture 3 library, CS6 and Bridge Library

I have been using Aperture for a long time. I just got CS6 CC and Bridge. Question: Is it possible to keep two idenitical ORIGINAL library's - one in Aperture and the other in Bridge?

Of course it is possible but you do realize that each library will be independent of the other. Changes made in one will not affect the other and your storage requirements will be doubled.
Running two completely different programs that do basically the same task seems wasteful both in terms of system resources and the time needed to maintain and use each program efficiently. Why are you looking to do this?

Dimensions in inches do not match in PS CS5 and Bridge CS5

Comparing the dimensions in inches between Mac Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5 show errors in Bridge's calculations.
Example: PS shows in image size 30 x 16.891 inches. Bridge shows in Essentials that the file is 30.1 x 17.
Is there a way to resolve the difference?
Seems that the dimensions of the file would be exact in the Metadata Panel of Bridge, but it shows the same dimensions of the Essentials data below the preview.

Well, I'm not necessarily suggesting it as a permanent solution, just a workable fix to get up and working again. Which is what I've always done - anything's better than those useless junk profiles that these manufacturers keep pushing down unsuspecting users' throats.
But it's true, some calibrators really are "silly devices" and in some cases you really are better off using sRGB. I've accumulated about 8 or 10 different calibrators over the years but if you ask me now I only trust two of them. Both especially and exclusively made for the displays they're used on.
Still, it never hurts to get into good habits early on. Your knowledge improves, your equipment improves, and you move on. The early takeaway for me was that it helped me understand what color management is and what it does - and where it does it. Pretty basic stuff, but nevertheless an important leap in understanding. A small step for a man and all that...

So could I take everything off my external hard drive, save it to my Mac, then re-format it for my Mac and move everything back to the external hard drive?
Yes. Keep in mind that you need to back up all data, including the data on an external drive. So if you're going to use the external drive to store original data, as opposed to backups, then you really need another one to back up the first one. You also need to back up the data on your internal drive, of course. This isn't optional. You must do it, or you'll lose everything sooner or later. All disk drives fail eventually, often with no warning.
If I do that how do I format the external hard drive for my Mac?
Launch the Disk Utility application and search the built-in help for "erase."
Would it be easier to just buy a external hard drive that is for a Mac?
All external hard drives work with Macs. Some might come pre-formatted for use with Macs, but it only takes a few minutes to do that yourself.

Creative Cloud Member Photoshop and Bridge sooo slow

My Video Card is not supported for photoshop CC and my photoshop and Bridge are sooo slow now. I also keep getting errors about the 3D options not working because of this. As a photographer all I am doing is editing photos do I need the 3D options ? Can I disable Them, Can I go back to photoshop 6 with Creative Cloud?

Yes, with CC you also get PS6. Although think there will be the same problems as the on line version is 3D also. Photoshop needs RAM and Bridge needs processor speed to function well.

My photoshop and bridge updated when I rebooted. My desktop link no longer opens up.

How do I get the link back so I can see al the programs available as well as open the ones I downloaded?

Thanks John. I finally hooked up with a fellow on the CC chat. The update to Photoshop and Bridge removed my CC link. It is now reinstalled and life is good. Thanks for the suggestion.

You would need PSE 11 to open those files directly into PSE. Your options are:
1. Use DPP instead.
2. Download the free DNG converter and use that to convert your raw files to dng files that your version of the raw converter can open:

3. Upgrade to PSE 11, although that won't help Bridge any.

Updating CC and Bridge

I keep being asked to download updates for Photoshop and Bridge. It tells me It has been done, but the next day I'm told to do it again.

Trying to download updates to PS CC and Bridge CC, but download keeps failing. I get the message "Unable to extract the downloaded files. Press retry to try again. (U44M1I210)"

Open the individual application and click on help option .Under the drop down option. Click on update
And try to update it from there.
In case if you are not able to update it.
