Keeping text formatted in Windows

I put up a new site today and realized that 50% of my text changed it's formatting if viewed on a PC. Any suggestions for keeping it formatted across both platforms? I was using text choices that were already used in places on the "Road Trip" templates.

I don't think it works with some fonts. I added the shadow to Dakota handwriting and it did not show up as that font on the windows pcs. It is really weird because I have used the font in other areas of the Road Trip template where it already existed in the sample pages and that area reads as Dakota on the windows machines. Go figure?

  • An editable region, how to keep text formatting?

    Hello fellas.
    Is there any way to keep the text formatting when I paste it
    into my edible region of the template?
    Every time I attempt it - dreamweaver gives me message "
    making this change would require code change which is locked by a
    template". The only way to paste anything into a region is by
    turning off any copy/paste text formatting completely, which is
    painful to edit, especially with a large number of articles.
    Would greatly appreciate any help.

    This is a common alert when the page you are working on
    contains *any*
    coding anomalies (perhaps in a location other than the
    editable region).
    Does the page validate before the paste? Does the code you
    are pasting
    validate?
    The answer is, of course, it's possible to retain formatting
    (provided all
    code is valid). What app are you pasting from?

  • How to keep text formatting from a php flatplan to Indesign

    Hi forum users
    my question is this:
    My company uses a PHP flatplan to recive and store work ready for the deisgners to place in indesign, however any text formatting ie bold, italics etc when copied from the flatplan dont keep when pasted into indesign, im just wondering if there is a way to keep the formatting if anyone knows.
    Currently using Indesign 5.5 but wondering if Indesign 6 has any fixes for this etc
    many thanks

    It may not work for PHP, but there is an option in the prefs to include all information, or text only, when pasting from external applications.

  • Problem with iweb not keeping text format

    I have a web site http://www.klelectronix.com and view the page HDS Tutorial you will see the page kept the formatting just fine.
    The next page which is Structure Scan Tutorial did not keep the formatting as you can see the Table of Contents has all the numbers at the end of the statement.
    The two pages were done exactly the same way. The document was done in Word and then copied and pasted into the web page. The formatting seems to go away from an HTML point of view just after you publish the site changes to a local folder and view the web site via Safari before uploading to the web site. I have looked at the code and don't see any difference between the pages.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    The site use to work fine. I have lately updated to Snow Leopard which probably doesn't have a thing to do with it just to mention it.

    I've tried that and using a text box in iWeb is tough as you don't have much control. It will render ok is you can get everything lined up but that is tedious at best. I have produced this document in Word using a table of contents if you are familiar with the procedure. What bugs me is both were done the same way and one copies with conversion but the other does not. I actually prefer it to convert but can't control when and how it does. If you have Word I can send you a copy and you can see what I mean.
    I finally just copied the Structure Scan and then pasted as a picture back into Word, then copied the picture into iWeb. As you can see it has the white background that is not too nice. While the HDS one copies from Word and paste into iWeb with the conversion to a picture but maintain the iWeb background.
    I tried everything to maintain the original formatting by using various methods of pasting back into Word then copy/paste into iWeb. Nothing works.
    Even tried to add all the items that iWeb says will cause a conversion but even that did not work.
    appreciate your time old toad, couldn't be any older than I. ha

  • IPod is formatted for windows but i need it formatted for mac

    i just got my iPod a couple days ago used from best buy and hooked it up from my mac not aware that it was formatted for windows. when i try to restore my iPod it just freezes up my computer. do i really need it formatted for mac in order to get good performance?

    Right. If you restored it in Windows the iPod will still be formatted for Windows.
    Now see if you can restore it on your mac.
    Also, know that Windows-formatted iPods work fine in Mac OS X. The only "problem" is that you cannot update the iPod's software on your mac if another software version is released. You would have to do that through Windows.
    If you plan on using your iPod with both Operating Systems, you may want to keep it formatted for Windows.

  • CS5 issue - Text not keeping Vector format when saving as PDF

    Hi everybody,
    I am very frustrated right now. I am working in PS CS5 in Windows, and I cannot get the text to keep the raster format where it's cleaner / clearer, and can be highlighted, searched for, etc.
    What's really puzzling is that it will work sometimes, but other times it will not, and I'm not doing anything different. Some text layers keep the vector format, and some do not. I've searched, and the only solution I see is for older versions of PS where it just says to select the "keep vector format" checkbox, which is not in the save options in CS5.
    Can anyone help me out with this? Any assistance would be much appreciated!!
    Trevor

    Hello!
    Yes, faux bold is an effect on the text that can't be vectorized.
    You'll need to change your font to another one that has a "real" bold option.

  • How to I import Apple 'Pages' text into InDesign while keeping the formatting?

  • Open a page by Firefox 5.0 then copy some texts. Close the Firefox. Try to paste texts somewhere else. Firefox can't keep data alive in windows XP clipboard...

    As I've already asked
    Why Firefox 5.0 can't keep data alive in Windows XP pro + SP3 ?
    Just test it as follows:
    1- Open a page by Firefox 5.0
    2- Copy some texts
    3- Close the Firefox 5.0
    4- Try to paste texts somewhere else (notepad, etc.)
    There is no data in clipboard if you close the Firefox 5.0

    If you used Sync to do that "import", disable Sync for at least one of those Profiles.
    </blockquote>
    Thank you for your suggestion. I have Sync enabled for all the profiles. To my surprise, however, Sync was of no use in getting Default's extension collection into Shopping. For that I had to resort to the article http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox.
    I will try disabling Sync on Shopping.

  • Firefox keeps prompting me to download the newest version. However, if I do that I will lose my text formatting toolbar, which is very important to me. I am on a Mac with Snow Leopard. What should I do?

    I don't know the difference between a plug-in and an add-on or an extension. All I know is that I am happy with the current version of Firefox (I think it is 3.6.6) because it allows me to use the text formatting toolbar. The last time I followed Firefox's advice to upgrade to a new version, I discovered that there was no compatible toolbar, and I spent a long time getting back to 3.6.6.
    If the new version does not have a compatible text formatting toolbar, I don't want it, and would like to stop getting these prompts.

    I'm having difficulty visualizing what is wrong but try some basic steps first:
    Launch Safari while holding a Shift key - this will start Safari with just your Home page
    If you can see Reset Safari from the Safari menu, try that.
    In addition to downloading and installing Safari again, try reapplying just the Snow Leopard Combo Update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 There is no need to uninstall Safari first.
    Lastly try deleting Safari's Preferences file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist

  • Keep text edit active when switching windows

    When editing text, switch document windows then return to the original document. The insertion point is gone, or highlighted text is no longer selected. Instead the active text item is selected. If can be quite a nuisance to have to find the text you were editing or had selected. It makes copying/pasting text between documents much harder than it should be.
    This is either a bug or a stupid feature. Illustrator has enough of both.

    I think you mean QuickLook, not Preview. And no, QuickLook is not intended to work that way--it is a way to do just what its name says: provide a quick looksee at the files in an open Finder window.
    As for ideas: why not just open them in iTunes?
    If you don't want to add them to iTunes, you can put the folder with the mp3s into Column View, make sure the box for "show preview column" is checked in View Options, then click directly on the icon for the file in the preview column (as your mouse moves over the icon, you will see the stylish play button appear on top of the icon). It will continue to play no matter what else you are doing.

  • Radio buttons - text format

    Hi everyone!
    I can't seem to get this to work! I want the text on the radio buttons to wrap correctly as they reach the end of the stage (right now they just keep going forever. Here is the code I am using:
    package {
        import flash.display.MovieClip;
        import flash.text.TextField;
        import flash.text.TextFormat;
        import flash.text.TextFieldAutoSize;
        import flash.events.Event;
        import fl.controls.RadioButton;
        import fl.controls.RadioButtonGroup;
        public class QuizQuestion extends MovieClip {
            private var question:String;
            private var questionField:TextField;
            private var choices:Array;
            private var theCorrectAnswer:int;
            private var theUserAnswer:int;
            //variables for positioning:
            private var questionX:int = 25;
            private var questionY:int = 150;
            private var answerX:int = 25;
            private var answerY:int = 200;
            private var spacing:int = 25;
            public function QuizQuestion(theQuestion:String, theAnswer:int, ...answers) {
                //store the supplied arguments in the private variables:
                question = theQuestion;
                theCorrectAnswer = theAnswer;
                choices = answers;
                //create and position the textfield (question):
                questionField = new TextField();
                questionField.width = 775;
                questionField.wordWrap = true;
                questionField.multiline = true;
                questionField.text = question;
                //trace (questionField.width);
                questionField.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
                questionField.x = questionX;
                questionField.y = questionY;
                addChild(questionField);
                //Text Format for radio buttons
                var txtFmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
                txtFmt.font = "Arial";
                txtFmt.blockIndent = 2;
                txtFmt.color = 0x000000;
                txtFmt.size = 11;
                txtFmt.leading = 4;
                //create and position the radio buttons (answers):
                var myGroup:RadioButtonGroup = new RadioButtonGroup("group1");
                myGroup.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, changeHandler);
                for(var i:int = 0; i < choices.length; i++) {
                    var rb:RadioButton = new RadioButton();
                    rb.setStyle("textFormat", txtFmt);
                    rb.textField.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
                    rb.label = choices[i];
                    rb.group = myGroup;
                    rb.value = i + 1;
                    rb.x = answerX;
                    rb.y = questionY + questionField.height + 25 + (i * spacing);
                    addChild(rb);
            private function changeHandler(event:Event) {
                theUserAnswer = event.target.selectedData;
            public function get correctAnswer():int {
                return theCorrectAnswer;
            public function get userAnswer():int {
                return theUserAnswer;
    As you can see, I managed to get the text field style of the radio buttons to use "txtFmt" as the style:
    rb.setStyle("textFormat", txtFmt);
    The issue:
    If I add:
    rb.textField.width = 352;
    rb.textField.height = 60;
    rb.textField.multiline = rb.textField.wordWrap = true;
    inside the "for loop" that creates the radio button, it just makes my text go all crazy! It only extends the text about 30 pixels after the radio button and then starts wrapping it, making it all stack on top of each other. How can I make it create the radio button, show the text on the text field, wrap around once it reached the edge of the stage and the continue the next button.
    thank you in advanced,
    Rafa.

  • Few questions about partitioning and formatting in Windows 8

    Hello,
    I'm very shortly after a Windows 8 reinstall and I want to make use of this moment to finally understand partitioning and formatting in Windows 8.
    Before using Windows 8, I was an XP user for 5 years and I actually never bothered myself with formatting my main system partition, that's probably why my computer ended up working like a slime for the last years. Anyway, by now I have been using Windows 8 for a year.
    Three weeks ago I faced a system-related problem with my laptop (IdeaPad Y580) which prevented it from peacefully shutting down. A good friend of mine (XP user for his entire life, and now Windows 7 newbie user) told me, that I should keep all my non-system stuff on separate partition and that I should do the main system partition format from time to time to keep my PC out of trouble. It is sure that he took his knowledge from using XP, and here's my first question - does this method apply to Windows 8?
    I mean as far as I know, back then, in XP, partitioning was possible only during Windows installation, and now, in Windows 8 we have a Disk Management for this, which do not require running Windows installation to create new partitions.
    I'm mentioning this due to the fact that originally (I mean by factory settings) my drive has only one visible partition - C: (1TB), so I would need to use the Disk Management to take some space from C: partition and allocate it to the new D: partition.
    In case I do this whole partitioning operation and create a D: partition, is it sure that formatting my system-only C: partition won't have effects on my D: partition, and all the programms and data I have here will stay on their places and work after format? (I'm worried about this because I've seen in some partitioning guide a warning not to format the main partition after the partitioning operation, because it would erase totally all data - I'm not sure if I misunderstood something or is it a mistake? EDIT: here's the link for this guide, just jump to the "Final Thoughts" section to see what I'm taking about: http://www.technorms.com/8438/windows-8-create-hard-drive-partition ).
    If this whole method of keeping your system running fine doesn't apply to Windows 8, I guess I'm okay with having only one C: partition.
    By the way, it doesn't matter for me if I create new partition in terms of conflicts with preinstalled Lenovo OneKey Recovery, since I had to reinstall my Windows 8 recently from non-Lenovo CD, and either way my laptop is now totally clean, without Lenovo stuff (I found Lenovo Recovery CD for Y580 on the internet, but it had non-single-language Windows 8 in it, and I needed a single-laguage one in order to have my Product Key recognised, so I just used a pure Windows 8 SL installer)

    I just found out that I can't even transfer my Users folder or Program Data to other drive than the one with the system, because it would prevent me from updating my system or even from actually booting to my system. So apparently my whole topic is for nothing... I guess I should live with only one drive, and whenever my system totally crashes again I should do the backups to my external HDD. It's sad though that Windows 8 is a total opposite to user-friendly OS, to say the least.

  • How do I enable bold/italic text formatting in blog module on website?

    For some reason I can't figure out how to enable more text formatting options on our blog. We used the blog module on a muse template. I customized the module to apply fonts we used on our website. The main text on the blog is Lato.
    Link to blog: Coupar Consulting
    When we go in to write a post you can use the bold/italics options and it shows up in the edit window as shown in the screenshot below:
    The font is not correct, but because I set the font in the module to use Lato it does show as lato when you publish, see preview below (notice no bold or italic text):
    What am I missing??
    Thanks in advance!!

    Use your browsers console and inspect tool. This stuff becomes very easy.
    address,caption,cite,code,dfn,em,strong,th,var,optgroup
      font-style: inherit;
      font-weight: inherit;
    Line 34 ish in - http://www.couparconsulting.com/css/site_global.css?3869595648
    This overides the font bold style on strong.

  • Problem with text formatting

    I am new to RoboHelp and I am trying to write some more text in an existing project in design view. I use Track Changes and have set the text to be Times New Roman 12pt. When I made a line italic it turned into Arial. I tried to change it to Times once again by selecting the text to format and then choose Format/ Font/ Times New Roman but it won´t change, it is still Arial. Earlier in the text I managed to make a line italic and Times New Roman.
    Anyone who knows what to do?
    (I use RoboHelp 10 with Windows 7 Professional.)

    Thanks for input!
    Yes, I think it was an inline style I made.
    I managed to get the text as I wanted to by deleting it, then I choose a style from the ‘Styles and Formatting’ pod that matched and retyped the text. (To me it seems strange to have to do this. I thought that I could change an inline style by highlighting the text and choose the font I want it to bee from the ‘Formatting’ toolbar.)
    Now I have another (but similar) text formatting problem:
    I copy a text that has style set to Normal. When I insert the text (on a line with style Normal) the font changes from Times New Roman to Arial. The inserted text still has the style Normal. I have in the ‘Styles and Formatting’ pod checked that Normal still has Times New Roman by opening the ‘Styles’ window. (I still have ‘Track Changes’ turned on.)

  • Text formatting in Numbers is not working correctly.

    In Numbers on Chrome text formatting is not working correctly, it's almost as if a CSS file is not being loaded. To be precise, when I try to make a cell Bold there is no bolding. I am using Arial as a font. This has been an issue on Mac and Windows. Any ideas?

    Do you have the same problem with Safari or Firefox?
