Keeping the Desired Size of Finder Windows

I want to change the default size for any Finder window while in Cover Flow mode. I successfully set the Cover Flow mode, as well as a few other options about icon size, etc., to cover all new Finder windows. However, I do not see any way to maintain the size of the Finder window to keep me at the same default size. Is there any way I can set this?
Thanks,

  • Icon size in Finder window

    This has gotta be an FAQ, but I can't find it. How does one change the size of icons that appear both in the Sidebar of Finder windows, and in the main part of Finder windows? I found how to change icon size for Desktop icons, but I want to change the size of icons within Finder windows.
    Thanks!
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi,
    thanks for the star too!
    I'm afraid I don't understand what didn't work... Mmmm...
    What I tested on my own computer (I also run 10.4.8) was that
    1/ I opened my home folder
    2/ my files are in "Icon view"
    3/ I went to the pull down menu at the top of the computer and chose View
    4/ I selected Show View Options (or Apple + J)
    5/ A window opened that allowed me to change the size of the icons in that window and also gave the possibility to change the size in all windows.
    I'm sorry if I was not clear before.
    Francine gave you the best option anyway. Thanks again!

  • Is there a folder limit in the sidebar of a finder window?

    Is there a limit to the number of folders one can put in the sidebar of a finder window? For example, I am supportng a user that currently has 47 folders in the sidebar, and would like to add more, but she can only insert them at a certain point in the list (after this point the finder will just not allow you to add anything to the sidebar). If a folder is inserted, other folders don't disappear, they just get moved down, which is why I'm thinking it's not a hard limit. The point at which the finder won't insert new items is fairly random as well, but above this point is never a problem.
    Is there a way around this? IS it a pref problem? I didn't try moving her prefs file(s) because she has an important function at my company and can't afford much downtime.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi jkrish,
    Based on my research, a table is limited by available client and server memory (or browser page size constraints) theoretically. If you are on a 32-bit machine, the worker process that is processing this has less than 2 gigabytes of memory to work with,
    probably closer to 1 gigabyte when you factor in kernel mode memory. If you are going to be serving up large reports like this, you probably need a 64-bit setup with at least 4 gigs of memory or more on the box. This setup will allow the worker process to
    allocate more than 2 gigs of usable memory to complete these large requests without issue.
    Furthermore, adding page breaks can improve the performance of published reports because only the items on each page have to be processed as you view the report. So in order to reduce the report process time, I suggest that you can try to add page break.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

    I am referring to outgoing new messages that I am typing.

    Can you drag the bottom right corner? You can in Snow Leopard, and I imagine you can in Lion.

    Hello.  How do I keep the actual size of a photo when adding to a Keepsake?  Used to do this but have forgotten how!  Need help please!
    T.

    Here is my suggestion:
    Open a blank, new file (File>new>blank file) size 8.5x11"
    Open the collage
    Go to Select>all
    Go to Edit>copy
    Go back to the blank file created in step #1
    Go to Edit>paste. The collage will be on its own layer
    Access the move tool, and with the corner handles resize the collage. Using the corner handles should preserve the aspect ratio. If you open the rulers, you will have a point of reference as you go along.
    Print a draft copy to see if it will be suitable in the frame..
    Please report back with your progress.

  • Why can't I get any devices to show in the sidebar of a finder window?

    Until recently I had devices (hard drives, DVD's, disk images, etc show up under devices in the sidebar of a finder window. Now none of these items show up. In Finder Preferences>Sidebar>Devices I nave all 4 checked (Bob's Mac Pro, Hard disks, External disks and CDs, DVDs and iPods). I tried rebooting. I tried unchecking the 4 boxes and rechecking them to no avail. It's annoying that I have to find an icon on the desktop to open these items. Any suggestions?
    This is a Mac Pro running 10.9.5.

    Do a backup.
    Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist.  Move the .plists to your desktop.
    Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.
    If the same, return the .plists to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Exported video size smaller than original video size. How do I keep the original size?

    I exporting a video from Adobe Premiere CS6 today, and I noticed the video was about 1/2 times smaller  than the original video I put in. I then uploaded the video on YouTube, and the size was still the same. I tried to change the preset to 1080p 29.97, 1080p 25, etc. and the same with 720p, and 480p, but the size only changed slightly.

  • How can I reduce the size of a photo proportionally.  With my old Mac mini I was able to place the pointer on the bottom right corner  hold the shift key until I achieved the desires size.

    How can I reduce the size of a photo PROPORTIONALLY?  With my old Macmini I was able to place the pointer on the bottom right corner of the picture, hold down the shift key and move the pointer to achieve the desired size.

    You'll need to use a 3rd party editor like one of these:
    Some Image Editors That Support layers:
    Photoshop Elements 11 for Mac - $79
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60
    Seashore - Free
    Portraits and Prints - Free
    GIMP for Mac - Free
    Xee 2.1 - free
    My personal preference would be for Photoshop Elements for Mac. Most of these will let you select and copy a head from one photo, paste it into another photo, resize and place where you need it.
    PSE has a specific feature just for that function.  I belive the Adobe site for PSE has a demo video of that feature.

  • How to set the minimum size of app window?

    Hi JavaFX experts :)
    Is it possible to limit the minimum size of application window? What would be the JavaFX equivalent of the following SWING code?
            JFrame frame = new JFrame("Application Title");
            frame.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(320, 240));
            frame.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(640, 480));Preferred or initial size was easy (width/height), but what about the minimum size?
    Stage {
        title: "Application Title"
        width: 640
        height: 480
        scene: Scene {
            content: [
                // some content
    }Thanks!

    var stage: Stage;
    var stageWidth = stage.width on replace
        if (stageWidth < 640) stageWidth = 640;
    var stageHeight = stage.height on replace
        if (stageHeight < 400) stageHeight = 400;
    stage = Stage {
        title: "Application Title"
        width: bind stageWidth with inverse
        height: bind stageHeight with inverse
        scene: Scene {
            content: [
                // some content
    }It doesn't prevent resizing to smaller dimensions but it restores to minimal dimension if done.

  • Missing file sizes  in finder window

    I can’t seem to find how to get OSX to display all file and folder sizes in the size column of my finder windows. I’ve tried using the show view options (command-J) and this seems to work for all except folders and Keynote files. Does anyone know how to fix this, especially for Keynote files?
    Mark

    No, there is no checkbox labeled as such. If I choose the "calculate all sizes" checkbox, all of the values come up now. However, if I also choose the "all windows" checkbox, it seems as though this change only works for the current window since if I open up another folder on my drive, I'm back to square one with missing file/folder sizes. Any way to make this change universal throughout the system?
