Keeping tool palettes visible

So I am new to using Flash on a Mac.  I am used to working on a PC at work and so now one of my frustrations is how the tool palettes disappear when you leave the program.  For instance, part of my job is to have my actions panel open with URLs for my flash movie and compare it to links listed on a website where I have to click to see the URL.  So when I go to Firefox to view the link, my tool palette disappears.  Please tell me there's a way to set so the tool palettes remain even if I am not focused on Flash.  I guess the same goes for all Adobe prods, but mostly for Flash for me.
oh and I am using Flash CS3 on Mac OS X.5
Thanks

Not that I ever heard of. However, Safari is still viewable, and if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel it is even scrollable, when it is in the background. So arrange things so you can see Safari and bring the other application forward. If it has the idiotic "I have all the screen when I'm forward" setting programmers have become so fond of (too much time in Windows I guess), you may be able to turn some of that off--anyway, you can in Photoshop Elements. Explore the Preferences, look for a setting involving seeing the Desktop. Otherwise the best you can do is take a screenshot of your open app, open the screenshot in Preview, size it to something that allows you to see both it and Safari, and compare the page with the screenshot.

  • Tools palette not visible or accessible

I have been using the particular installation of Labiew (V 6.0, under Windows XP) for a long time without the following problem.  All of a sudden, one day, the Tools Palette was not visible, and I was not able to get it back.  Tried, of course, clicking "Window >> Show Tools Palette" but this does nothing.  I can still cycle through some of the tools using the keyboard (Tab and space bar).   Tried cold rebooting -- nothing.  Hopefully, I don't have to reinstall.

Here's something to try...perhaps the Tools palette location got stored in the LabVIEW INI file with some funky location, such that it is showing up, but not within the visible bounds of the screen.  I'm not sure what the INI entry would be, but it's probably something human readable, like "ToolsPalleteLocation="2000,2000".  If you see an entry like that, delete it and restart LabVIEW.  But if you don't see anything immediately obvious, you could close LabVIEW, delete (or rename) your LabVIEW INI file, relaunch LabVIEW, and see if your Tools palette shows up again.  If so, then it's definitely something fishy in your INI file.
Also, I seem to recall from my days long long ago in the AE department that there might be a KnowledgeBase entry, or a previous Dev Exchange post, on this issue.  So if my suggestion is no good, try checking those resources.

  • Keeping CS3 tool palettes viewable when off focus

On my Mac, I have FLash CS3 open and sometimes I want to have a web browser open as well so I can check info on a website where i have to click to view a link and compare to what's in the Actions panel. BUT when I get away from Flash, all the tool palettes go away! Is there a way to not make things like that disappear?

  • PS Tool Palette Not visible from Aperture 2 Edit

I have looked through the manuals, but haven't found anything on this problem.
I have an image I want to edit in Photoshop Elements 4. When I make the request in Aperture, PS loads up, but the only thing available is the burn and dodge tools at the top. The entire tool palette is no where to be seen.
Why is this the case? How do I get a file to load up so I can use PS to edit it in full capability mode? I have Aperture exporting it to PS as a PSD format.
    Any suggestions or council?
    Thanks.
    Matt

I assume you're choosing "Edit with" from the Images menu, but are you certain you're not choosing the "Dodge and burn" sub-choice, just under the Adobe Photoshop sub-choice?

  • How I do turn off the auto-select tool in the tools palette?

No matter what I do in LabVIEW 8, it keeps turning itself back on.  It never used to do that in LV6.1!!!

Yes, I noticed that too... Annoying, isn't it? I haven't seen how to turn that off, as a matter of fact, I haven't seen the tools palette either..

  • Hidden function tool palette

Hello, I've just installed Labview 8.6 and I can't see the basics function in the tool palette.  How do I do to be able to see them?  When I do a seach, I can find them.

This is from a fresh install? Weird. Did you install 8.6 into its own directory, or did you try to install it into a previous version's directory? You can try to reset the palette. Also, if you pin the palette (using the pushpin in the upper left) you can get a "View" menu and then go to the "Always visible categories" and select the categories you want to always see.

  • How do I remove colors from the Tools Palette

    Hi,
I recently defined two custom colors (blue and green) that were required for our brand representation (I am using Unstructured FM 8). I used the RGB values that Marketing provided to obtain these colors. For some reason, I now have the entire RGB blue and green libraries displayed in my Set Color option of the Tools Palette.
Is there a way to remove these standard RGB libraries while keeping my custom color definitions?
    Thank you,
    Miruna

the »Indexed color efficiencies« came from way back when the Net was a number of very thin electronic pipes connected to each other.
You're replying to someone who recalls full page 300 dpi TIFFs taking 30 minutes just to display for text overlay in Frame 3.1.
It is a long time I heard someone complaining about image files larger than 32k. but of course, FrameMaker should handle them OK!
Frame handles large images with ease. I've generated PostScript files of 1GB. The issue is what size PDF they distill to.
We render to PDF at the same resolutions for both publishing and web (200 dpi contone, 600 bitmap). Multiple dozen large images can easily make a final document PDF that is too large for practical web use. Our general rule is that if a single image adds more than 250 KB to the final PDF,  we take steps.
I often have to deal with dense vector objects that are well over 5MB as raw  EPS. I routinely save a convenience browsing PDF of each image, and if it's over 250K, the image gets attention.
For B&W line art, flattening to 600 dpi dithered bitmap in Photoshop usually suffices, but rasterizing to contone does not, because our workflow passes 600 dpi "bitmap", but subsamples "color" and "gray" to 200 dpi.
I had this one vector-overload externally sourced image where I needed just a touch of one color. I was hoping that indexed color (e.g. GIF) might be the solution, but Distiller downsampled it anyway. Some of the indexed color tests, as I recall, but cannot now re-create, also polluted the color pallete.
The work-around, in case anyone else has the same requirement (hi-res bitmap with color), was:
Open the .ai file in PhotoShop, 600 dpi gray.
Convert to bitmap, 600 dpi, diffusion dither.
    Save as .tif.
Open the original .ai in Illustrator.
Isolate the color elements to the top layer.
Open the .tif bitmap in Illustrator.
Copy the bitmap into a new bottom layer.
Align the bitmap with the vector B&W layers of the same content.
Turn off the vector B&W layers.
    Save the .ai.
    Flatten and save as .eps.
This survives distiller, and provides a bitmap with color.
Don't forget to redact the metadata. It can add MBs all by itself.

  • How to Hide Tools Palette?

    Hi-
I have a .vi that starts running when opened. Unfortunately, the 2 tools pallete popup when I start labiew. [ie. "labview filename.vi"  and then my .vi opens, along w/ tools palletes]. Is there a way I can disable the tool palettes?
    thanks
    Phil

    Hi Philip_B,
    try this:
    - Open LabView and a new VI
    - Close palette
    - Close LabView (current configuration (no palette) will be stored)
    - Start your VI => the palette should not be visible
    Thats it,

  • How can I display the length of the yet unfinished line that a user is drawing in the image using the line tool of the IMAQ tool palette.

Is this really not possible using standard Labview/Vision YI`s?

    Herbert,
I can't find a way to extract the information you want within the program. However, this information is displayed as part of the IMAQ tool palette while the user is drawing the line. The pallette shows the anchor point, the X and Y offsets, and the line length and angle.

  • Tools palette in tool bar

Hi, I'm a comparative new-comer to LabVIEW so this might have been discussed long ago.  Question: why not have the tools palette along the top, in the tool bar where there is lots of empty space? Even the functions palette for the LabVIEW block diagram and controls palette for the front panel might fit on the tool bar. I find it very annoying having to move these palettes when working on a flowsheet.

LabVIEW isn't a "logging package", but a programming environment. As such it does need a lot of tools available, and I don't think they would fit nicely in the toolbar. If you want the palettes to be more convenient, go to the options menu and select the advanced palette view instead of the express one. You will see now that it's much easier to use the right-click-to-get-palette trick. Most people use high-res (1280x1024 and up), which can also help.
To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here and here are a couple you can start with. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).

  • Tools Palette Dropdown Issue

None of the dropdowns on Tools Palette work ex: Type Tool, Pen Tool, Pencil Tool, etc. I cannot get the dropdowns for any of these to appear. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the entire suite - reinstalling each separately - no luck. I'm sure it's something to do with Preferences but I don't want to pay tech support $40 to give me a one line fix. Please help - very frustrating.

There are no "dropdowns" on the tools palette. However, if you click a button and hold for a few seconds, the ones with the little triangles should show the hidden tools in a flyout. Is that not working?
To replace your preferences hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys as soon as you launch the program (we're talking milliseconds here) and say yes to the dialog when it asks if you want to replace the prefs. If you don't get asked, you weren't fast enough, and nothing has been changed.
