Keeping version sets in slide show in Elements 4

I use Elements 4 in Microsoft XP Home to create slide shows, incorporating filters (e.g. posterize to be more creative for chapters introductions).  How can I keep the original in the slide show and also the new version? I have tried everything , but I lose either the original or the new version.

This approach can work in some versions of PSE, but I do not have 4 installed on the system I am currently using to check it specifically. You cold try this if you have not already attempted it.
Use a different name for the slide show when you save the slideshow project.
This is not a version set the same as edited photos have version sets where the photos are grouped together with specific commands to manage the version set.  However, it might give you two separate slide shows (with two separate thumbnails in the PSE Organizer).  Then those slideshows could be  manipulated individually (separately).

  • How do I open slide show in Elements 7.0

when I click on slide show the organizer loads and then it tries to load slide show but all I get is a warnig from IE that slide show can't load and then it quits loading and freezes the organizer so that I need to close it through the task manager. I have changed preferences and it did not help.

I had already tried a new user account and that did not work. I just reinstalled Photoshop elements and that did no good. I also reset preferences and that did no good. I just now tried to set up my 1st album I created and it sent me the same message not from IE but I am attaching a screen shot of the error message. I also installed the program on my laptop that is running Vista and the slide show works fine but it will not let me set up Premier for some unknown reason. Also my kodak printer will not print the photo size (6x4) when it is selected. I have to print it out using Kodak programming or with my old version of Adobe photo shop. The old version however does not recognize some of the new fangled things used in the 7.0 version. I may have used the wrong description of the error message, but the  screen shot will show who is sending the error messages.

You broke your filetype associations. IE should not launch when you open a slideshow. it previews in the organizer itself. Either that or you broke your registry. Try uninstalling the software and reinstalling. (no you will not lose all your pictures or work.) If that doesn't work, try creating a new account on your computer. If you are unsure of how to do that, call your computer manufacturer, do not call Adobe, they are closed on the weekends, for support.

  • Will I be able to up load video slide shows from Elements to Revel?

Please let me know if I will be able to up load video slide shows from Elements to Revel? I currently enjoy photoshop.com because I can share photo albums and video slide shows from Elements with my family. I am worried because I don't see any home page or tool bar on my new Revel account. It's like there's nothing there??   Am  I missing something?
Help !!! Robert [edited out phone number to protect user's privacy] USA Please call me, I can't find any phone number for me to call for customer service.
    Thanks !

Currently, Revel supports jpg files only. We are adding many enhancements so this may change in the future. Reading some of our FAQ's might be helpful for you to get some more information, so I will include some here for you. Only version 11 of elements has connectivity with Revel, but you can upload files from your computer as well.

  • Can video files be added to a slide show in Elements 5 or 10?

Can video files be added to a slide show in Elements 5 or 10?

I would recommend PSE11/PRE11 if you want to use them on an integrated basis. Only the current product is supported by Adobe. Or you could get PRE10 if you are not concerned about support.
But be aware that one version will not integrate with another. They will work as stand alone apps but you would loose some flexibility. For example I start in the Slideshow editor in PSE, add my photos and transitions and then click Output >> Edit with PRE. The slideshow gets sent automatically as a clip and I can do further editing, add video, add music and narration etc.

Thanks for the follow up with additional information.
Elements Organizer 12 Premiere Elements 12 Editor
Bottom line: I suspect that you have stressed out the system with too many photos oversized for the project settings. But let us explore the situation to confirm or refute that first impression.
    Details:
If you have a 44 minute slideshow and photos each with 5 second duration, then my guess-estimate would be that your slideshow has about 528 photo with pixel dimension of 3264 x 2448 (4:3) or 2448 x 3264 (3:4).
First concern, too many photos with pixel dimensions oversized for the project....you may have to resize your photos not to exceed 1000 x 750 4:3.
When you output this slideshow from the Elements Organizer 12 Slideshow Editor, you cannot use both "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor" and "Save As a File MOV (wmv):".
For now I will assume that you are using "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor".
Unless you are setting the Premiere Elements 12 Editor project preset manually, you are ending up with the wrong project preset
The Premiere Elements 12 Editor project preset is probably its default NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 (a 16:9 project preset) instead of NTSC DV Standard (a 4:3 project preset). .
If all my assumptions are correct, then
    1. In the Elements Organizer 12, create your slideshow with your 528 photos each with pixel dimensions not to exceed 1000 x 750 (could go higher if you can do so without jeopardizing the workflow...but, no matter how high the resolution, the end product will reflect the resolution of the export format, 720 x 480).
You are going to output the slideshow using Edit with Premiere Elements Editor.
    2. Before you hit the Edit with Premiere Elements Editor choice in Elements Organizer 12 Output, open Premiere Elements 12 Editor Expert workspace, and set the project preset manually to NTSC DV Standard.
    File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings
In Change Settings, change the project preset to NTSC DV Standard
    OK out of that area.
In the new project dialog that appears, make sure that you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Settings on this Project".
    OK out of that area.
    Minimize Premiere Elements Editor.
    3. Open the Elements Organizer 12 again, and hit Edit with Premiere Elements Editor.
Premiere Elements 12 Editor will open...you will see a folder for slideshow assets and a video file for your slideshow in Project Assets...on the
Timeline you should see your slideshow in the video format. If you want to do further significant edits of the Timeline content which is now in
a whole video format, right click that Timeline content and select Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow.
Please review and consider. Perhaps do some mini test runs to define your situation further.
We will be watching for your results. If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • How do I loop a slide show in Elements?

How do I loop a slide show in Elements. The slide show is made and runs, biut only once.

I don’t think it’s possible in the slideshow editor but the simplest method is to place your photos in an album and then select the first thumbnail and hit the F11 key. Select the tools icon and choose repeat.

Can music downloaded from iTunes be added to a slide show in Elements 12? I can't get it to load into Photoshop Elements. When I finally get to the file it kind of just disappears. Do I have to get the song from someplace else?

Barbara, I don't know how to get to the artwork to remove it. I saw a post on this forum on how to show hidden files and went to the control panel and followed the instructions. I still can't see any hidden files or artwork. Hope you can tell me where I am going wrong.

Problem seems to have started after updating to Mavericks.
Is there a box I need to check/uncheck?
    Any help very welcome!

Hopefully you've seen the post from Terence Devlin?  I've pasted it below.
In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
    Then quit and restart iPhoto.
Pity Apple didn't either warn us or set up a bug fix!

  • Poor photo quality when importing slide show into Elements 10

    Hello,
I'm using Elements and Photoshop Elements 10 on Vista.
What I'm trying to do is import a slide show I made in Photoshop in to a movie I'm making so that the slide show appears as a menu item and I don't have to include a separate disk for the pictures. I've sucessfully imported it, added the menu marker and the disc works, but the photo quality is really crappy. When I play the slide show on its own, the pictures are fine. What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance!
    Mary

    Welcome to the forum.
    They work on several levels:
A subscriber comes with a problem/question, and then, hopefully, someone will have an answer
A subscriber comes with a problem/question in mind, and then finds other threads, very similar, and hopefully gets the answer
A subscriber comes to read, to pick up ideas, etc.
In your case, it appears that # 2 worked, just as it should.
As for your question, PrE can produce SlideShows for display from DVD-Video, as good as it gets. Where commercial DVD-Videos enter a different realm, is with Video footage, with motion. There, Hollywood uses special Transcoding software, that allows for many, many more passes to identify the areas of motion, to Transcode at just the right Bit-Rate, for best results. PrE does that with but two passes, unlike the US $ 500,000 programs, staffed by highly-trained experts, who do nothing but Transcoding, all day long. PrE is limited in that respect, but with SlideShows, it will be able to apply the highest Bit-Rate (the DVD-specs. are strict here, so, though higher Bit-Rate = higher quality, DVD-Video can ONLY go so far.) Also, Hollywood uses DVD-9's (DL) so that more Duration can be authored to disc, at the highest-allowed Bit-Rate, for each segment of the Video. With a SlideShow, the Bit-Rate will be as high as the DVD-specs. allow, and per the Duration of the SlideShow vs the capacity of the disc.
Now, there are some other considerations, such as the limited Color Gamut (and Gamma) of DVD-Video vs display on a calibrated computer monitor, or a calibrated Broadcast monitor. One needs to study that limited and different Color Gamut, and perhaps adjust the colors first, in Photoshop. PrE is not designed for Broadcast output, so lacks many of the Tools, that PrPro has. Also, very few PrE users have a calibrated Broadcast monitor hooked up for Color Grading. Last, even if one has produced the ultimate output, with full understanding of the Color Gamut, and used a perfectly calibrated Broadcast monitor, there is no telling what the calibration of the client's monitor (computer, or TV) will be. What is perfect on a calibrated Broadcast monitor might look great on the client's setup, or perhaps not. A Broadcast Engineer can only adjust to standards, and hope for the best, when the disc hits the public. Same for Audio. Who knows what "Aunt Marge" has to play back the DVD-Video?
For ultimate results, I would create a Timeline with a few Still Images, but with each adjusted in slightly different ways in Photoshop. Add a Title, like a Lower-Third, with the Color and Gamma settings over each version, maybe 5 variations, that are slightly different. PS allows one to adjust Colors and Gamma in many ways, so explore. Then, author that Timeline to DVD-Video, using high-quality media, and test on their DVD player/TV setup. See which version looks best, and note the specifics from that Title. Use that to process the actual Still Images for the DVD SlideShow.
Also remember, if one has set things up ideally, they will have calibrated their system and Photoshop. As Photoshop is a Color Managed Workspace, things will be, as good as it gets. DVD-Video, and TV's are NOT Color Managed Workspaces, and most consumer TV's are out of general calibration, having just the generic setting from the factory. Nothing can be done about that.
As mentioned above, if the playback is for a computer (not a DVD player and TV), then better Color and Gamma might be achieved by doing an AV file, and then burning that to a DVD-Data disc, for delivery. However, one still has the variables of the client's computer, its monitor and even the software player used. All play a big role in how that AV file will play for them.
Good luck, and I wish there was an "iron-clad" answer, as to how to achieve the ultimate results, but there are so very many variables involved.

  • How do I import my tags and slide shows from Elements 9 to 11?

I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 so I can create a DVD of my slide shows. When I loaded 11, all of my tags and slide shows are gone from my previous version 9. I have an urgent project due this weekend, help!

Organizer>File>Manage Catalogs, and hopefully it will appear in the list on the bottom part of the window. If not, click Convert and navigate to the  existing catalog file.
When you installed the programs, did you disable your antivirus/antimalware software? If not, I would uninstall and reinstall after doing so.

  • Slide Show using Elements 5 and Premiere4

I have downloaded a trial version of Elements Premiere 4 and am trying to get pictures from Elements Collection file into it to produce a slide show.
I have another software which will do slide shows but the pictures are never in proper arrangement when I import to this program and it's hard to arrange 100 plus pics.
Can I produce a good DVD straight out of Elements 5?

    >I am using a trial version of Premiere Elements 4. I have sent my slideshow to Premiere Elements, but cannot get it to appear in Premiere Elements. Could this be because I am using a trial version?
No I don't think it is the trial version that prevents the slide show from appearing. As I said I am not sure the PSE 5 to PRE 4 will work.
    > My other software is Pinnacle Studio 9. It's a good program but does not interface with the Organizer in Elements; therefore the pictures arrive in the alphabetical order of file title. Unfortunately there are 294 photos that must be manually rearranged in a very small working space
The usual solution for this is to do a File > Export from the Organizer and use the Base Name option which will make an additional copy of the files so that
b their file names preserve the sequence of the files in the Collection.
    You do this step
-- In PSE 5, display the specific Collection which you wish to use as the basis of the slide show. Then do a Select All so that all its thumbnails are selected (visible by blue outline box on the thumbnails)
    And then you do
the File > Export command of the Organizer choosing the Base Name option. Personally I would give each slide show a different base name and I would make that name similar to the name of that Collection.
The Export command makes an additional copy of these photo files in the Collection, names them as designated in the Base Name option and allows you to designate the folder to which they are saved (I use a newly created folder). Then use the files of that folder as the input to Pinnacle.

  • Slide show import - Elements 8 to LR3?

I have an older slide show that was made in Photoshop Elements 8.  It was also output to my hard drive as a PDF file.  I want to know if there is any possibility, or anyway, other than to remake from scratch, of "upgrading" this to Lightroom as a Lightroom slide show.  Thanks.

Its a one shot effort, so I will keep it in Elements.
