Keeping your music after an upgrade

I opened iTunes and it asked if I wanted to update to iTunes 6.0.2 If I update will I keep all of my music files. When i used to cd with my nano to get itunes i updated to the newest version of iTunes before putting any music on so im not sure if I keep all of my music. And does anyone know whats the difference between this version and the previous.

the new version has a mini store and is a little better, no it will leave your library the same wont make u lose your music.

  • My iPod keeps skipping music after I upgraded to IOS 7, I would tap a song and it wouldn't play all 308 of my songs, it would skip

I can't play my music, it keeps skipping when I tap on it. I tried everything and nothing is working. Thank you so much in advance. I appreciate it!

If your music was purchased in iTunes you can always redownload it for free... but without any backups.. there's no other way to get the music back.

My iPhone 4S keeps shutting down after I upgraded to iOS7

This has happend twice to me in the past 12 hours since I just updated to iOS 7.0.2, but did not happen after I updated to iOS 7
Last night the operating system crashed to the Apple symbol (a reset) when browsing the settings menu.
Perhaps it's a bug with the movement tracking? Seems to be connected with sudden movements (I noticed it shut off when I quickly lifted the phone up to look at the screen) - perhaps the background parallax is glitching the system to a software reset? If my problem persists I may temproarily disable the parallax to see if that mitigates the resets.
To be clear, the update to iOS 7 didn't precipitate this problem, and I updated to iOS & on the day of its release (9/18).
This used to happen to me sporadically on my iphone 4s on iOS6, usually when my battery was anywhere at 40% to 5% - though I suspect that was because I was due to re-set the battery by completely draining it.
Is anyone else having this issue with their iPhone 4S?
I'm using a Verizon iPhone 4s 64 GB, still in excellent condition.

  • What is your temperature after firmware upgrade?

    Hello.
My MacBook was repaired after experiencing several random shutdowns, and I now applied the firmware update. Everything works OK but I'm curious about the temperature of the computer. After the firmware, my MacBook stays between 50 - 60ºC while web surfing and iTunes, and higher if doing more intensive tasks. I thought the update lowered the temperatures more. in the 40ºC range. Is my computer OK?
Thank you. I feel a bit paranoid, but I want it to work fine. I had to be 3 weeks MacBookless and it was not a good thing.

Note, it is unknown what is the official spec maximum for the machine heat, or if such a maximum exists. Only a service technician would know if anyone. If you are experiencing issues with your machine after a first replacement, run the hardware test that came with machine, and make note that these articles don't apply:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303848
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=30612
and the environmental limits externally aren't being exceeded:
    http://support.apple.com/specs/macbook/macbook.html
    "Line voltage: 100-240V AC
    Frequency: 50Hz to 60Hz
    Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)
    Storage temperature: -13° to 113° F (-24° to 45° C)
Relative humidity: 0% to 90% noncondensing
    Maximum operating altitude: 10,000 feet
    Maximum storage altitude: 15,000 feet
    Maximum shipping altitude: 35,000 feet"
And if a hardware issue appears to be at fault, call AppleCare and ask for a replacement machine. You don't want to have to go through replacement part after replacement part and waiting for excessive periods of time.

  • Moving iTunes music after PC Upgrade

I need to upgrade my boot hard drive and want to move all of our family's iTunes libraries from the old HD to the new HD without loosing the music rights.
Do I need to deactivate the old ones for each user and then reactivate them on the new boot drive then move the music to the new drive?
    Or? Thanks!

You are not very precise with your question so I will give a rather general answer.
If you want to move iTunes music to another drive like this and you want to keep all your counts and ratings, etc. You need to be sure you copy the iTunes folder containing the library databases.
You also need to ensure that all the music files are in the iTunes Music folder inside the iTunes folder. Consolidate if they are not.
You then need to save the iTunes folder on an external drive - or if you current drive is intact set it up in a drive cradle so you can access it when you get the new system drive running.
You need to deauthorise your PC before removing the old drive.
Install iTunes on the new system drive and authorise the PC. Before adding any music drag the iTunes folder out of the My Music folder to your desktop and copy your old iTunes folder into My Music replacing the one you dragged out.
If you have more than one account with separate libraries you need to repeat the dragging and copying process in each account.
For interest here is apple's article on moving music using your iPod but you probably will not want to do it this way. Nevertheless the method is similar however you choose to transfer the music.

  • How to keep your apps when you upgrade your iphone

Hi there everyone. Like many of you peeps out there I have my sights set on the iPhone 5. I presently have a 3GS. A friend at work had the same but this week upgraded to the iPhone 4. One thing we spoke about and didn't have a clue about was, when you plug in your new iPhone to iTunes that has all your lovely purchases backed-up on it, what happens?
I have lots of paid for Apps and music on my 3GS and iTunes. What do you do to your old iPhone and iTunes so that, hopefully soon, my new iPhone 5, or in my friends case iPhone 4, can be the recipient of all the stuff backed-up on iTunes?
I'm sure Apple would have made this simple and not the case that you have to start again from scratch with a new iPhone.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Your apps, music, iBooks and so on are not tied to the device, they are tied to your Itunes/AppStore account.  As long as you are using the same account, you can put those things on as many separate iDevices as you like.  Just plug in the new device into the same computer and iTunes account as the old one, activate it with the same account and id, and then sync the things you want on it over.

    Hi,
ever since upgrading from Server 2012 X64 to Server 2012 R2 X64 my dns server keeps shutting down every several minutes before having to do a restart.  When viewing the event log this is all I see..
The DNS Server service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 497 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

I have tried removing and then reinstalling the DNS Server role, but the same situation occurs..
    thanks,

    Hi,
I'm going crazy,  I've upgraded my Server 2012 Standard to Server 2012 R2 Standard and now my DNS server keeps crashing since the in place upgrade.  I have finally narrowed it down to it only crashes after several minutes if I load the data from
a file instead of the registry.  As a test I:
-1- killed all my dns data,
-2- uninstalled the dns server role
    -3- deleted the /windows/system32/dns directory
-4- reinstalled the DNS server role
-5- used the wizard to create a DNS server and a forward zone.
everything works okay, no crashes,  then I change the advanced propertied of the DNS server to load from file, restart the DNS server and once again it crashes every 2 minutes..
Please help,  this is killing me..
    thanks in advance..

  • Can I keep earlier icons after an upgrade?

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard (without a hitch) to Yosemite.  When updating programs (Pages, Safari, etc.) is there a way to keep the earlier program icons so my dock doesn't look so Martian?

        @blackhawtek,
I'm so sorry to hear of the issues you are having with your phone! A new phone will definitely come in handy, especially for the holidays!
I see you already did a hard reset and you are still having the same issues. This is usually the last step before replacing the phone. Unfortunately, since you are out of warranty we would not be able to replace. Since you are eligible for an upgrade, this would be the best solution.
You can do an alternate upgrade and get a new phone for the line that already has a smartphone. However, when processing an alternate upgrade you will not be able to keep the unlimited data plan on your line.
If you want to keep unlimited data on your line you can always purchase the phone at full retail. I know retail can be expensive, but you can use our device payment plan to spread the cost over 12 months and still keep unlimited data. Visit http://vz.to/ZILXBT for complete details.

  • IPhone 4.S not syncing music after iOS upgrade.

After upgrading to the latest iOS, neither of my iPhones will sync music from iTunes.  When I synced, I lost all of my music on my iPhone.  I still see everything in iTunes, but it does not sync any music to the iPhone and what was there was delete.

This is almost embarassing. For some totally unexplainable reason all the songs in iTunes were unchecked. I was considering syncing the whole iTunes library to my iPnone, tut even with the 32 Gb version it would not hold it all. I restarted my MBP, and the message about the unchecked songs came up. It obviously is not enough to have songs checked for the iPhone. Thanks anyway.

  • Linksys Router WRT54GS keeps timing out after Lion upgrade

Since we upgraded to Lion we keep loosing wifi and Internet. Have to switch off the router. Then it works again for about a few minutes.
    Please help!
    Router is Linksys WRT54GS
    Lion is: 10.7.1
    Thanks in forward

I've had the exact same issue. Same router and everything. Worked like a charm with Snow Leapord but since the update it doesn't.
Unfortunately the WRT54GS is from 2005 and there are not longer Firmware updates available for that model.
    http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT54GS
On Mac's there is problem with wireless access points using a 2.4GHz/5GHz mixed mode if both parts of the wireless network have the same name (SSID) but due to technical rules two different addresses (BSSID) for the different wireless modes.
On that the Mac switches between the radio bands to provide allways "the best" connection.
That causes disassociation from the wireless what shows you then the well known effects in your wireless.
Also a band hopping "Guest Network" may disturb the connection if there is no dedicated name (SSID) is set for the Guest Network.
    On the WRT54GS
Check that the "Guest Network" is disabled.
Check that WPA2 Personal AES (not TKIP) is the security mode. See -> http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=22050
Eventually change network mode from mixed (default) to "wireless-N Only" or "wireless-G Only" if the 2nd BSSID cause trouble with the Mac. -> http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=22555
    On the Mac
Generally follow the instructions here -> http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=15805
On System Setup - Airport (WiFi) main page uncheck (disable) "Ask to join new networks"
Eventually set up a new location for your home network.
Eventually delete all obsolete wireless networks from the "known networks" list including your WRT54GS
Delete also the corresponding key's from Kechain Acceess
    Reboot the Mac
Configure your home wireless on the Mac from scratch.
Eventually try the Linksys Forum to find more information.

  • Why does iphoto keep shuting down after Lion upgrade

Why won't Iphoto load since upgrading to Lion?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

  • My iMac's computer name keeps changing automatically after Yosemite upgrade

This started happening once I upgraded my iMac to Yosemite. It will add numbers to the name of my iMac.
Example: It starts off as say "My iMac"
Then a half day later, it changes to "My iMac (2)"
Then the next day it will be "My iMac (3)"
And if I open the Finder window, it will show "My iMac" and "My iMac (2)" under "Shared" but if you click on them, nothing happens.
When I go to System Preferences > Sharing the computer name will have the number there "My iMac (3)" and say it can be found as MyiMac-3.local
If I change it back to just "My iMac", the number process starts all over again. I even tried naming the iMac something it was never named before and the same process occurs with the adding of the numbers.
Anyone know how I can fix this?

Have had the same issue with an iMac and MacBook Pro, both with Yosemite (MacBook upgraded from the Yosemite public beta). Both previously had Mavericks, and at one time or another would have had both Ethernet cable and Wifi on. This issue has only occurred since the upgrade to Yosemite. I do not use iCloud, so I believe that may be irrelevant and merely coincidental.
The solution provided by an Apple Care rep seems to have resolved the issue. Has stuck now on both machines for the last few hours. Time will tell for certain, but here's what we did:
    - in System Preferences > Sharing, remove the (2) [or whatever is extra; mine was iMac (2), so I removed the (2)
    - exit Preferences
    - shutdown
    - restart machine in Recovery mode (machine off, press and hold Command + R, power on, when Apple logo appears release keys)
    - may take a few minutes to boot (depends on machine generation/speed, RAM and such)
    - open Disk Utility
    - select the OS disk (mine was Macintosh HD; selected the 'indented' item)
    - run Verify Disk Permissions
    - when finished run Repair Disk Permissions
    - restart
On the MacBook I tried turning on Wifi and so far so good.
    Banish the deux!

  • Is anyone else sick of having to use 'about:config' for custom history settings??? Or hoping that Firefox will keep your history after your next update???

I remember the days when Firefox was really customizable...
You could actually select how far back FF would remember your history...I used to have nearly two years' worth of history...before the 'new and improved' system of 'rapid releases', that is.
It's not the release cycle that p****s me off, it's the little surprises that you discover later. Some of you know what I mean, the ones that the developers don't tell you about...the ones that all of the bug fixes, security patches and new features are supposed to make us overlook or forget the things that have been removed or don't work right...
Sorry, but I'm getting tired of wondering what in the hell is going to go wrong next...

Not sure what the changes are that you refer to but I remember this blog
    * http://blog.bonardo.net/2011/09/02/changes-to-places-memory-consumption-expiration-and-performances <br/>( ''Bug 674210 - Reduce places.sqlite cache size and reorganize history expiration around the new value '' )
Reading the blog that particular change seems to have been to reduce history loss for those with lots of bookmarks.
Having glanced quickly at release notes and bug listings I did not see anything since the above that I recognised as restricting History [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?list_id=6130699&resolution=FIXED&query_format=advanced&component=Places&product=Toolkit .]

  • My iPhone 5 keeps on restarting after I upgrade it to iOS 7.1.1

My iPhone 5 keeps on restarting and when it stands stable the battery don't read it keeps still when I off it n on it again for the battery to read so I know the percentage of the battery then it start restarting again

Save yourself a trip to the store.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If this does not resolve the issue, then take it to the Apple store.

  • Beats Music after upgrade

Has anyone else experience any issues with the music after the upgrade? What's happening to me is my beats ear buds no longer control the music. I can not start or stop the music via the beats ear buds. If I'm listening to music and get a call it will not longer stop for me to talk on the phone, the music continues to play in the back ground, I have to stop the music manually in order to talk on the phone. The main purpose of the beats phone was the music,so to me this is a major disappointment.

I have an HTC Rezound with the beats earbuds.
