Keeps adding rejected photos
I have been going through and adding all the thousands of faces that were missed during the initial scan when I upgraded iPhoto. So far I have only been tagging the faces of myself, my wife, and my daughter.
Twice today, after closing iPhoto and taking a break, I have reopened the program and there will be a scanning icon next to Faces in the sidebar. It lasts for about 30 seconds and then it gets screwy.
After it finishes, it reorders the three people on the corkboard and changes the key photo for everyone. Then there are a number of "new" suggestions at the bottom that I have already rejected for not being correct. They are the same 25-30 pictures that I have already rejected several times. In addition, several pictures get added into my babies list as confirmed pictures that I have rejected multiple times.
Any ideas how I can get iPhoto to stop suggesting pictures that I have already rejected, stop messing up my corkboard, and stop adding confirmed photos into my lists that are incorrect and have been rejected???

You can't. It doesn't work that way.
the new album that you created doesn't contain a copy of the actual photo. It contains a pointer to that photo. If you delete it from the camera roll, you will delete it from the album that you created as well. Albums that you create on the iPad in the Photos app are for local organization only and cannot be transfer or imported to your computer, because there really are no photos in those albums -

When editing a shoot, I CTRL+[arrow down] the rubbish pics to set them as rejected. The plan is to delete them before "selecting ALL" in the shoot and exporting.
Trouble is I'm always forgetting to delete the rejects before exporting ( ARRGHH!). So I've just written a small plugin that adds a filter to the Export Dialog which when enabled prevents any photo that is set as rejected from beign exported. Hurrah!!! Here's the code. Feel free to use if it's useful!

I'm getting an error message when I try to delete rejected photos!
When I use the filter for selecting the flagged 'rejected' photos and press Cmd+delete, and then "delete from disk," as I have done many many times in the past, It is suddenly telling me that my files cannot be moved to the Trash folder. I just updated today from Lightroom 1.3 to 1.4.1, but this was happening over this past week, before the update. I'm on a MacBook Pro, using Leopard 10.5.2. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
I could delete a couple of images through finder, yes...and then they'd delete from Lightroom. The workaround I found is to create a subfolder containing the deleted images in Lightroom, and then delete that folder from the finder. It's not quite right, but it works for now. I wonder if the trouble has something to do with the location of the images? Not sure. I was able to delete some other images within Lightroom successfully, but I can't figure out yet what these have in common that are different! I'll keep working on it...

What actually happens with a rejected photo? I have a feeling they are NOT deleted nor is any space freed up by rejecting photos. It seems all it does is remove it's preview from the project, album, etc.
Is there a way to MASS delete all rejected items to free up some HD space?
Why or who would want to keep all those rejected items?
BRadThey are not deleted automatically. The default filter does not show rejected files. You can change this if you want. The default is "Unrated or Better". You can see this in the search box in the low right corner of the monitor, between the viewer and the browser. Click the triangle and choose "Rejected".
Another way is to make a new "Smart Album" at the top level where the "Rating 'is' " Rejected (move the slider to the far left).
Either way, select all, then delete the files. -
BackUp Assistant adding random photos/ads/logos to my gallery
Backup Assistant Plus keeps adding over 500 pictures of random things such as pharmaceutical company ads, sports logos, random people, and the BAckup Assistant log to my BAckUp Assistant gallery! I don't want these there. I cannot just delete the album. Does anyone know if this album takes up storage space? Can you turn this part of BackUp Assistant off? I've called Verizone AND SAmsung and nobody believes this is happening and swear it's not BackUp Assistant. They think it's a virus. I reset the phone like they suggested and all that happened was I lost all my music and photos.
I'm so glad you posted this, Jess. I found the same thing in my picture gallery and couldn't understand why on earth they were there. I looked in applications and sure enough there were two instances of BackUp Assistant Plus listed in running apps. I was able to disable one and the other one I unchecked music/pics/videos/docs. If I could figure out how to completely disable or remove that one, I would. I manually back up my mucis/pics and I use google to back up my contacts.
When I picked up my phone this morning, the backup was running so I cancelled it (that was before I disabled and saw all that). I tried to delete the items in that gallery and it keeps freezing the gallery. I'm not sure what to do about that, but I think at least the problem won't grow (I hope). I've only had this phone 3 days and I wish I would have realized that was set to automatically go - I never used it on my old phone, droid x. What a PIA. Please reply again if you get a new phone and you find two instances of BackUp Assistant Plus running. I don't think I'll try to get a new phone since I was able to disable one of them, but I'm really curious if they all have that. Oh - and I have the 32g version. Maybe that's why? -
I'm able to transfer iPhotos from Mac to MacPro but data I've added to photos does not transfer. What am I missing? Tried using Thunderbolt, AirDrop, Flash drive with no success. Do I have to use iCloud for 800 vacation photos or re-enter all the data after transfer?
There is no support for mirroring or syncing iPhoto libraries or Aperture libraries. You can however export partial Aperture libraries on one mac and merge them into other libraries on a second Mac.
To transfer your edited photos open your photolibrary in Aperture and and collect the edited photos in an album. Then select the album and use the command "File export > Album as new library". This will export all edited photos as a new Aperture library. Copy this library to your other Mac and import it with "File < Import > Library to your other photolibrary on that computer (assuming you are having the same Aperture version on both macs). When merging the new library into your Aperture library, opt to keep the newer versions from the imported library. iPhoto 9.5.1 will be able to open these merged Aperture 3.5.1 libraries. -
When I went to download some pics (originally taken with my iphone 4S) from my computer back to my iPhone I got the following error message: "iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPhone "Peter's iPhone". Do you want to keep or remove photos previosly synced to your iPhone?"
Coincidentally, my wife just purchased an iPhone 4S and syncs to iTunes on the same computer.
Any ideas?
PeterThe "best" way to handle it, if you want to keep everything separate, is to create separate user accounts on the computer. make sure you log into your account on the computer before you attempt to sync your phone and log out when you're done using the computer.
Though it's possible to sync both of them to the same iTunes library, and even share an account for the iTunes store, you're inviting confusion and possible data loss (as you've discovered already). Best to just use separate user accounts on the computer. That also gives you the benefit of not polluting the other persons browser favorites, contacts, etc. -
Visual Studio keeps adding SharePoint features when opening a solution
Hello everybody.
I'm facing a rather naughty problem. In a Windows 2012 environment (hosted inside an Azure virtual machine), with SharePoint installed, I created a VS SharePoint on-premise solution. I added a feature, and started adding lists, libraries, site columns, layout
pages and such. At one point, every time I added a new list definition, the VS would create me a new feature. Which is not what I wanted, so I manually deleted the new feature and added the list to the first feature. No matter how much I try, VS keeps adding
features instead of using the one I already got.
But that's a minor problem. After a while of adding lists, I did a check in to my TFS and closed the VS. After a couple of days, I open the VS again, and without a warning VS checked out the solution, checked out my only feature, removed the lists from it
and created one feature for each library. I ended up with feature2.feature, feature3.feature, ..., feature50.feature files!!! Insane!!! I had to manually delete them and re-add them to my first feature.
Now I can't turn VS off without having this mess all over again. Why on Earth would somebody program VS to do this? Is there any way to turn this behaviour off?

Or you could try to download a new sharepoint template in this VS2013 and then create it check if you still get the issue.
I suggest you could try to create a same sharepoint project template from VS2013 on another machine and then check this issue again.

If iTunes can read the movie files, then you will need to create an iPad version by going to the drop down menu File > Create New Version > Create iPad or Apple TV Version and then syncing that newly created file.

Expression question: keep adding to value
Hi!
I want to animate the cameras z-position based on an audio track. I have converted the audio to keyframes, but now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to feed the audio peak values to the cameras z-position so that they keep adding to each other.
Simply linking the camera z-position to the keyframe data will make the camera fly back and forth, but I need it to keep going forward in a pulsating motion. So when there is a peak in the audio amplitude, the camera moves more rapidly forward and when there is a flat waveform the camera stays put or moves only slightly.
Is this possible to do?This Position expression should work. Adjust mult to set the sensitivity (how much it moves in response to the audio) and minVal to set how much it moves when there is no audio.

I am adding new photos to my PC windows 7 desktop but they are not syncing to my ipad when I sync the Ipad. How can I get these photos into my Ipad?

you and I know that your answer works because that is how I sync my ipad. I don't have a mac, just a PC with itunes. Now this guy might not even have itunes and is using Windows Media Player or something like that.
Or maybe he just do not want his problem fixed. I read these forums and too many of the questions are just way beyond basic computer knowledge, but it seems to happen that they can never resolve a very simple problem. It makes me wonder if people just post bogus stuff.
I would like to see registration to the forums attached to the product serial number of the forum you are posting to. I bet you that the posts would drop dramatically. -
I no longer get the dialog box when trying to delete rejected photos.
I have always used the Delete Rejected Photos. . . selection to get rid of the photos I have flagged as rejected. However, after the rejected photos are shown, the dialog box no longer appears with the option to Delete from Disc or to Remove from the LR Catalog. I don't know if this problem began with LR 3.4 or before, but the timing was close. It isn't that I don't know how to use the function because I have been using it for years. Any help would be appreciated.
Since I had 358 photos out of almost 2800 flagged as 'rejected' I did not
want to loose all my work. I selected the rejected photos and then flagged
them all with a 'yellow' color. I then displayed all photos with a yellow
flag and 'Un-rejected' them. I highlighted a small amount of them, about 30,
and rejected them and then went to the Delete Rejected photos. the pop-up
came up and I was able to delete them. Since the rest of my yellow flagged
photos were still showing I rejected another chunk of them and so on till
they were all deleted. When trying to delete a group that had published
photos within I got a box warning me that if I deleted them the published
ones could no longer be managed by LR. That is alright with me. It would be
nice if the software would somehow flag those that had been published. All
the dialog box said was that one or more of the group had been published. I
did not know which.

The files in download folder keeps adding _b to the file name
I have a strange problem when downloading files on my Macbook Pro(running Mavericks). The name of the files being downloaded or already downloaded to the Download folder keep growing like this:
Say for a file called My_file_name.zip, the system keeps adding _b to the name, it becomes
My_file_name_b_b_b_b...._b.zip.
And for big files, frequently I get the error message saying the file could not be downloaded due because there is no enough disk space. However the file is infact downloaded. I just need to highlight the .download and select Show Package Content, and copy the real file out of it. Howerer this is very annoying.
This problems seems only happens when download files to the default Downoad folder. When downloading to other user selected folders, everything works fine, Please help if you know how to fix this issue.

Adding a photo gallery loses the editable region
Hello I have a test site that I am road testing for my client and have noticed a slight problem when adding a photo gallery. When a photo gallery is added to a page the once editable region then loses it’s editable status. When I take the page back in Dreamweaver the div is still showing as editable but this is not the case when using incontext editing.
Any help would be most welcome

MartinIt is a module, there is nothing to edit, the content isa module generation which renders the gallery based on its paramaters. In the case of a gallery you go add the images into the folder, give them captions in the admin if you wish and depending on the CSS setup you have they render.
I personally teach no client to use that editor, everything is through the admin with good web apps use and pages and good templates etc.
