Keeps on asking for "repair disk" after i moved the application to a folder

Hello, I moved a .app to a folder then whenever i open the app it ask for "repair disk" but when i move it back where it was originally installed, it doesn't have that. is there a way so i can leave that app in the folder and the "repair disk" stuff wont pop up? Also, is someone wlling to give me the icon folder for Adobe Premium CS3 please?

Some apps don't like to be moved - especially if they were installed using an installer program.
If you want to organize your apps, it's best to leave them all where they are in /Applications folder, and create aliases to them. Then organize the aliases into custom folders.

  • Logic keeps asking for serial number after upgrade to 9.1.3

I know this has been asked before, but I'm wondering if there is a solution other than erasing my hard drive etc. I had to do a re-install of my system 10.5.8 and I upgraded to 9.1.3 and now Logic keeps asking for serial number after every shut down (not if I only quit). any ideas?
    Thanks!

Thanks for your response. I had already re-installed my OS because computer wouldn't boot up. I had downloaded Onyx and run it which I think was the start of my problems including the missing serial number - so it was looking for serial number even before my upgrade to 9.1.3. I could not find anything called a reg keyfile in either my user or startup disk /Library/Preferences/. When I put in my serial number, I can boot and quit as many times as I want until I shut down.
Here are the 3 console messages that appear when I try to boot up and they are the same that come up after shutting down or on a launch which does NOT ask for serial number:

  • ITunes keeps asking for a disk while I am trying to uninstall

I am trying to uninstall iTunes so that I can reinstall it.  However, it keeps asking for a disk.  Also I have tried to use Windows Cleanup Utility 7.2, but get an error when I attempt to run it.  I think I may have started uninstalling the components in the wrong order.  Any help is appreciated.  I am using Windows 8.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
If you cannot get a component to uninstall properly move on to the next one, then delete the named folder. The reinstall should be successful.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • When Burning a movie, it keeps asking for more disks

I have finally gotten around to trying to burn a movie and after I have everything set to go. I click on burn once then the second time to start burning. It asks for the disk, which I insert. Goes through I believe stage 3, then spits out the disk and asks for a new one. I did this even though I thought it was strange because I obvioulsy can only use one disk to view the movie. So I put the new disk in and let it go a while later it asked for another disk. At this point, I cancelled the burn. Help what am I doing wrong. I have looked through all the help topics and the burning section is very vague.

  • Windows wont start, Recovery Disk asking for another disk, only can with 2

My son was surfing the web when IE stopped responding.  Window would not close so he held the power button until the laptop shut off.  When he tried to start laptop again, could only get as far as the windows loading bar, but it would not load.  After unsuccessfully trying a StartUp Repair we used the Recovery & Application Disk, holding down the C. After it appeared to run succesfully we got a boot manager missing error.  So we tried the Recovery Disk again.  Now it just continues to ask for additional disk but the Recovery Disk set is only two disk set.  This is a L305-s5875 Satellite that we have had for about 11 months.  If anyone has any suggestions we would greatly appreciate it.

Try cleaning disk with alcohol, with soft tissue paper. That is what i did to get disk to work.
Also try and hit start and F12 and then change boot menue to Cd/Dvd insted of hardrive
and then hold down c or try without holding down ckey.As a last try start cimputer and hold
gown the statr buton and 0 (ie zero)  together for 1 min and see what happens.

  • Rationale for Repairing Disk Permissions

I repair permissions before and after installations, and I suggest others to do so. However, I have read in some threads in Discussions there there is no technical basis for repairing disk permissions before installation, and that only repairing after installation is necessary.
I realize that there are different opinions about this, but beyond opinions is there a technical basis or rationale for repairing disk permissions before installations?
    Thanks.

    Hi cornelius,
Here is some reading about this topic. Mind that Apple DOES recommend repairing permissions as routine maintenance (see links at the bottom)! My suggestion to Repair permissions before and after an update has a very simple rational: If you forgot to repair permissions AFTER the last update you might get into trouble. Therefore it is safe and costs only a few seconds to do it before and after the update.
mac.column.ted: Unravelling the Repair Disk Permissions controversy
    "Ted Landau

Repairing Disk Permissions. Not exactly a topic that you would expect to spark much controversy. Yet, surprisingly, it is the focal point of a rather heated debate.
The command itself is innocuous enough. It is included as part of the First Aid component of Disk Utility. Apple's Help for Disk Utility states: "User permissions associated with files, folders, or applications can become damaged and prevent a file or application from opening. Permissions problems can also cause your computer to run slowly. Using Disk Utility, you may be able to fix these permissions problems...Repairing permissions may also be recommended after updating the system or installing new software."
Consistent with this, many users and Web sites (including MacFixIt and at least some postings on MacinTouch) recommend the use of Repair Disk Permissions, not only for specific signs of trouble, but as a part of generic troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance for your Mac.
In contrast, other members of the Mac community (writing in locations such as the Daring Fireball , Unsanity, and the MDJ) argue that running this command just for maintenance, in the absence of any particular symptom, is essentially worthless. Some critics go even further and claim there is no justification for ever selecting to repair permissions. Not only is it useless, they contend, but it may even cause new problems to appear. This viewpoint is often expressed with inflammatory rhetoric such as "covering yourself in Vaseline and rolling around naked in the dirt and repairing permissions are just as likely to fix your Mac OS X problem" (Unsanity).
Regardless of who's right or wrong, I don't believe that insulting users is merited here, especially when these users are simply following advice suggested by Apple itself. As it turns out, I also do not agree with the position of these critics. So, although I may be stepping into a minefield, here's my own take on this subject and my resulting recommendations. • Install asks for a disk?

I downloaded Illustrator CS5.1 (for Mac) after purchasing it online. But during the install process it asks for a disk. How do I install the software without a disk? I thought everything I needed was in the downloaded files?

Yes, you only need your download. However, you may have other Adobe software on the system that you once installed using a disk and it messes with the AI installer. The best way to resolve such issues is to run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and start with a clean slate.

    Read this:

It is the same for the app store. You are required to have some sort of payment method in the record.

    Maiko,
I'm confess I'm still trying to get a handle on your problem. You do a fantastic job of describing it ... but I'm just trying to picture it accurately in my head.
I think, were I in your shoes, I'd begin by looking at what the debug page has to say for the specific destination in which you're interested in fixing. In other words, I'm not clear on where, exactly, this destination points ...
    Destination illinois.edu.1945806043
Is that your site, or the division within your site that you want to fix? "Normally", you do not need to specify a site handle to get to your site within your transfer CGI ... if you say "uillinois.edu", it's enough to transfer your users to iTunes U ... but every site still has a handle, and you could, if you wanted to, actually specify it in your transfer CGI. For example, this:
    Destination uic.edu.1139051993
is for my entire site ... it's my site handle. Whereas this:
    Destination uic.edu.1991288441
is for a division within my site ... but it's impossible to tell the difference between "site" and "division" from just the handle (I mean, if I didn't say "this is a site" and "this is a division", there'd be no way for you to know). So when I look at your creds and permissions on your debug page, I can't quite tell if they give you download access for your site, or for the specific division you want to fix. If you could open the debug page with your division as destination (or confirm that that's what we're looking at), it'd rule out some things.

How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.
