Kein DVD Brenner bei PPro nach SP2 Install

Hallo,

Dort verwieß man mich an service-lenovo-de@medion.

I made a post on here a few weeks ago about getting a raid 0 setup going on a new build and after a few hours of tweeking around got one to work. Windows XP Home w/ SP2 installed fine the first time. Computer ran great for about 3 days. Then I noticed that whenever I tried to install anything using 2 or more install CDs, windows would crash when I opened the cd tray after it asked for the next CD. The cd rom was plugged into an SB600 controlled sata port so I thought maybe it was interfering with the raid setup. Switched the cd rom to a promise sata port and xp refused to boot anymore.
Its now been about 2 weeks since then. I've played around with this new computer everyday I'm off work and it will not let me install xp sp 2. RAID 0 setup on SB600 or Promise controller, standard IDE settings on SB600, no cdrom attached to internal sata ports (used an external usb one). No matter the configuration XP either freezes during the boot screen after the initial install restart or makes it into the second half of installation (after reboot) and gives a validation error of some sort.
I also have a copy of ubuntu 8.04 that I've tried installing with no success, though that may be my lack of experience with using linux.
The only OS i've installed successfully so far is Win2K on straight IDE, didn't bother trying on a RAID.
I've given up on trying to install on a RAID array. It requires the extra drivers and creates more problems, and from what I've read on other posts here won't give me much performance boost with just the two drives anyway.
As of posting this I'm running seatools on my harddrives and fully erasing the hard drive I've been trying to install on so many times.
Thanks for any input you may have for my problems and let me know if you need any more info!

Alright, finally got the new PSU on Wed. Ended up going with the Corsair 750tx. Better to have extra power than not enough and maybe something to use in a future build.
Had to wait a few days before I had the time to put it in but it fit in the case just fine. Plenty of connectors with the nice shrink-net wrapping around the wires. Plugged it in and turned it on.. nothing. After messing around a few minutes I discovered the power cable that it shipped with was a dud. Luckily I have a few spare ones and used an old. Ok, now the power's running fine.
By this time I had stripped down the new build to the bare and basic essentials. IDE HD and cd rom drive, floppy and one of the nvidia cards from my last computer that had SLI running. Put in the XP install disc, formatted, first part of install went fine. After reboot to finish installs once again the computer crashed with BSOD. Multiple reboots did the same with various different BSOD stop messages.
After searching MS's website for the meanings of the errors I came across a post on another website telling of hitting F5 during install of XP. I'd heard of using F6 for installing third party drivers but not what F5 was for. Further searching on microsoft.com showed that hitting F5 at the start of an XP install allows you to force a Hardware Abstraction Layer. If you have an ACPI capable motherboard XP installer  does not always detect this (or ever in my case) the F5 menu allows you to choose it, along with other types of systems. So I chose ACPI PC as my option, finished out setup and rebooted. Crossing my fingers once again as XP tries its first load and.. Wah Lah! I have a functional OS at last on this baby.
Thanks to all for your help in this trying time My slight headache of the last 3 weeks is now gone!
For anyone who has trouble getting xp to install and receives multiple different stop errors I'd suggest looking into the F5 function.

  • DVD-Brenn-Error

    Hallo,

    Hi again,
Good news, I've solved the problem, on my computer at least. Aqua is beautiful but, I enjoy changing the look of my workspace. I use Unsanity's Shapeshifter to do this and my intention is not to give a plug to Unsanity but, it works great at doing the said task. ;p
If you have no idea of what I'm writing about then my solution will not solve your problem. In my case, it seems that the application of certain themes was breaking DVD Player.
I decided to revert to "default aqua" and then try and run the app. Viola, DVD Player worked. I quit the app and decided to apply the theme I was using that apparently broke DVD Player in the beginning.
I succeeded in doing just that, DVD Player would present me with an error once again.
If you are running Shapeshifter or any of the haxies produced by Unsanity, disable them first and then run your app. MInd you only certain themes broke the app, so you might not have to totally disable it. Base your troubleshooting around that.
I hope that this helps. ^^

Your HD may be crashed, so you probably should use the oringinal install discs to run Apple Hardware Test in extended mode. If error codes appear this confirms a hardware failure. In addition you cannnot repair the HD using Disk Utility from the startup disk, you have to use the origninal Install discs that shipped with the computer or the most up-to-date version of OS X on a disc that you have.

I cannot answer regarding compatibility, but there is no download available for PSE6 if you would need one for this.  You might be able to copy the installation files from a disk to some other removable media that the machine accepts.  Upgrading to PSE7 would not be possible mainly because Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.

  • Can Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail DVD be used to erase and install on a Leopard 10.5.8?

Can that retail DVD be used to erase and install on a Leopard 10.5.8?
Or can you only do that with the discs that came with the computer?

One pitfall is if you don't have the minimum 1 GB of RAM, Snow Leopard will be very slow to work. Also make sure your hard drive after the installation is less than an arbitrary 85% full.  This amount has been found to be the break even point where all versions of Mac OS X can get messed up. Otherwise, check my FAQ* for other possible compatibility concerns:

In order to run Windows Applications, you must own the applications and, since they require Windows, you must own Windows. There are technologies like wine that will allow Windows applications to run without Windows, but they tend to be flakey at best.

  • Tomcat won't work after XP SP2 install?? help, please

    Help please!
Hi, I installed a fresh JDK (1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p), JRE (1.5.0_01), J2EE (1.4_2005Q1), Apache web server (2.0.53-win32-x86-no_ssl) and Tomcat (5.5.7) . Everything seemed to work. I installed XP Service Pack 2 and now Tomcat won't compile JSPs. (I don't know if the SP2 install was the cause).
The service Starts okay, but when I try to hit a jsp, Tomcat takes over my processor (at like 80%) and it starts writing to the stdout log (stdout was set to auto), repeatedly. After being up for like 20 min the log was well over 1 GB in size. It showed the below exceptions repeating ad infinitum.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Tomcat, repaired the Apache installation (that shouldn't matter, should it?), and I am going to try reinstalling JDK/JRE/J2EE, but does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this?

Is it possible this is resulting from classpaths not
being setup correctly? Could someone please tell me
what my CLASSPATH and PATH enviro variables should be
fod JDK, J2EE, JRE, etc...? Both in general and
specifically to be found by Tomcat. They are
    installed in:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_02
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02
    C:\Sun\AppServer
    Thanks!Could be.
I think installing anything in directories whose path has spaces in it is a terrible idea. I'd reinstall the JDK to c:\SDKs or something like that.
There's no need for a system CLASSPATH - ever. You shouldn't have one. Use -classpath when you run javac.exe and java.exe to set the CLASSPATH. Tomcat has its own class loaders. You should deploy your Web apps in WAR files - they'll have the CLASSPATH set for you that way.
Your PATH should include the JAVA_HOME\bin.
    set JAVA_HOME=C:\SDKs
set CATALINA_HOME=c:\Tools\Tomcat, or wherever you installed Tomcat.

Perian 1.2.3 *should* work for both QuickTime & and QTX in Mountain Lion. Regardless of the filetype container, whether it is a Matroska (.mkv) or a .mov. As to the actual encoding of the file (h264, .mp2, whatever..) I have found most play, even older formats.
Even though it's no longer supported and is a dead project, it works just fine. It will load as a System Preference file and adds to the Other category in them.
I think in 10.8 you've still got support for QTX so it may work with that. (in Mavericks, it only works for QT7)
If not, just run QuickTime 7.6.6.

If no luck there, you could also try VLC at http://www.videolan.org

Hi, I am working with CS6 Design Standard for Mac, I bought from Adobe a DVD with the Software. I installed it already on my mac book. Soon I wanna buy a second computer for my work. When I bought the software I was told that it is possible to install the software on a second computer. But I also read lately that I will only be allowed to work with one computer. I want to work on both of my computers without de/installing and de/activating the software every time. Is this possible? Thank you!!

You should be able to install the products on two computers as long as they are not running at same. Also the platform should be MAC.
You may download the product from

  • Leopard DVD won't boot after bad install

I ran the leopard installation yesterday and I realized that i needed to do some more work on the drive before i installed, so i clicke cancel and restarted the computer. Now the dvd won't boot. I installed tiger again(came with laptop) and tried doing various other things with the disk. Almost any ntensive use of the disk (booting from it, trying to clone it, etc.) will result in the superdrive powering up and then down repeatedly, sans result. I left the leopard dvd to boot for hours and when it tries it gets to the grey logo and the drive does that power up/down cycle endlessly. I can boot from ubuntu's disk and the tiger disk that came with my computer. The disk mounts to the desktop, btw, and i can browse the files and everything. Apple support was no help.

I've been doing some work with the disk. I did another attempt at creating a dmg from it and got the same result, so I googled the error which led me to a thread on this site with a similar issue. The error was input/output error. They found that it was due to a corrupt file... so I did a cp -r of the disk and it said that a few files did not exist:
cp -r "Mac OS X Install DVD" /Users/mattebooks/Desktop/Leopard
cp: Mac OS X Install DVD/usr/lib/libpython.dylib: No such file or directory
cp: Mac OS X Install DVD/usr/lib/libpython2.5.dylib: No such file or directory
cp: Mac OS X Install DVD/usr/lib/libpython2.dylib: No such file or directory
cp: Mac OS X Install DVD/usr/lib/libruby.1.dylib: No such file or directory
cp: Mac OS X Install DVD/usr/lib/libruby.dylib: No such file or directory
cp: Mac OS X Install DVD/usr/lib/libtcl.dylib: No such file or directory
cp: Mac OS X Install DVD/usr/lib/libtcl8.4.dylib: No such file or directory
cp: Mac OS X Install DVD/usr/lib/libtk.dylib: No such file or directory
cp: Mac OS X Install DVD/usr/lib/libtk8.4.dylib: No such file or directory
So I set Finder to show hidden files and went to these files libpython and libpython2.5 are aliases of libpython2 and libpython2 is an alias of a file in a non-existing folder. A little more digging and I find out that the python, ruby, tcl and tk framework folders are all missing, all from the same folder... interesting. Maybe I could add the files in and reburn the disk. My guess is that the loader looks for these files repeatedly. The path to the files is /System/Library/Frameworks/... If anyone could email these to me I could try and rebuild the disk...
