Kein TrackPad unter WinXP Prof. über BootCamp

Hallo zusammen.
Mein Trackpad funktioniert nicht mehr unter Windows XP Prof. seitdem ich eine USB-Mouse angeschlossen hatte. Neuinstalation der Bootcamp-Treiber (3.1) klappt nicht.
Was tun? Für Hilfe und Tipps bin ich sehr dankbar!

Unterschiedliches Verhalten von LabVIEW 6.1 unter WinXP und Win98

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
wir möchten ein Messgerät unter Win98 betreiben. Die Treiber des Herstellers werden über "Call Library" eingebunden und funktionieren unter WinXP, nicht aber unter Win98 (es handelt sich um die gleichen VIs). Ein kleines C++-Programm (mit Visual C++ 6.0 erstellt) funktioniert aber unter Win98 mit der gleichen DLL.
Der Fehler scheint also bei LabVIEW zu liegen. Updates für LabVIEW 6.1 stehen von Ihrer Seite keine zur Verfügung.

ich dachte zuerst, dass evtl. zwei verschiedene DLLs installiert sind; 32 bit für WinXP und 16 bit für Win95/98. Da es sich um ein USB-Gerät handelt und es sich bei dem C++-Programm (kompiliertes exe und nicht auf jedem System neu erzeugt?) geht, möchte ich das als Ursache nicht in Betracht ziehen.
Die einzige Idee, die ich habe ist die, dass die Laufzeitumgebung von LV für Win98 und WinXP unterschiedlich ist. Ich kann das nicht überprüfen, da wir hier kein Win98 haben.
Ich gehe jetzt von folgender Annahme aus:
Der Rechner hat eine Festplatte mit einer Partition C:\. Win98 ist in C:\Windows und WinXP in C:\WinNT installiert. Es gibt ein Programmeordner für beide Betriebsssteme C:\Programme. Dort gibt es dann einen U
nterordner "National Instruments". Dort gibt es die Unterordner Win98\LabVIEW6.1 und Win98\shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\6.1 für die Win98 Welt und WinXP\LabVIEW 6.1 und WinXP\shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\6.1 für die WinXP Welt.
In diesem Fall sollten dann die Versionen sauber ausenander gehalten sein. Dann wäre allerdings auch mein Wissen am Ende und ich kann dann nur empfehlen sich per email an den Support zu wenden und die URL dieser Seite hinzuzufügen. Landet dann automatisch in München.

WinXP/sp2 on Bootcamp

WinXP/sp2 on bootcamp sees my wireless network (which works fine on my MacBook) but won't connect, making some reference to a firewall. I'm on 40 bit WEP. How do I connect? It takes my password ok, but then fails.

One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

My trackpad is not working in bootcamp 4.0 with windows 7

I just purchased an iMac and upgraded to Lion. I then created a bootcamp partician and installed Windows 7 Professional. Everything went smoothly until the trackpad driver was installed. It failed. The trackpad will not work. I have tried to add it through the Bluetooth interface, but I get the eternal circle of **** from Microsoft...Not much of an improvement on the old hourglass of ****. Anyway, please help get this driver updated for bootcamp so I can use my trackpad.

I think that has always been a problem at times. though surprised.
I would assume disabling and then reinstalling or along those lines.
Uninstall the driver Apple has or see if you can "rollback" in Device Manager.
Startup items from msconfig would be one place.
I assume you can do a safe boot / boot from Windows DVD and restore to point prior to this / if you have Snow Leopard use 3.0 thru 3.2 drivers instead

Intermittent response of the trackpad in Windows 7 with Bootcamp 3.0

I have a problem with the trackpad (in macbook air). In Windows 7 with bootcamp 3.0, sometimes (more often after waking up from sleep) the trackpad does not response smoothly. It intermittently stops responding a few seconds and works again. When I plug in a USB mouse and use it, there is no such problem with the USB mouse. This problem only happens with the trackpad. I suspect this problem is caused by the bootcamp driver with Windows 7. Is there anybody who has the same problem?

Change "C" to what your system drive is.
Boot from your system disk for Windows if it still happens.
Next step is to scan for bad blocks, then move on to recertify the drive.
But I would not be using the drive, and unless it is totally benign and erroneous, looking for a patch or fix. Definitely not from Windows Update.
I've had drives that really should be certified and extended test - in Windows - to look for bad sectors before using or installing a system.
If it is an issue with dual-boot and you shrunk Vista to make room, EasyBCD along with Windows DVD might help.
If something is interferring with shutdown and not writing out changes that are cached, might look in that direction.
Last, if you upgraded from Vista, maybe a custom clean install again. Backup your data with Windows Easy Transfer first and reinstall system and apps afterwards.
Maybe Windows backup image and restore, or Norton Ghost 15 comes out tomorrow. Not sure I'd trust WinClone, Windows 7 made changes, and there is now a 100MB system recovery partition... which I'm surprised it doesn't automatically ask to use.

Also, die treiber sind alle ok, der witz ist, dass man sie nicht per setup.exe installiert, sondern unter Hardware/neuen treiber den treiber suchen und aufrufen. Dann funktioniert die Installation richtig, auch das Mikro wird erkannt.

Trackpad and Blue Screen under Bootcamp and XP (SP3)

I have this very annoying problem.
Whereas I run Windows XP in bootcamp and I use the multitouch trackpad the system "randomly" locks and I am presented with a blue screen of death. Other times the audio output is garbled with clicks as I press the pad...
The blue scree happens more frequently when the system is under load and is a VERY NASTY BUG of the trackpad driver that prevents to use the Macbook in mobility without a external mouse.
I am posting this since I didn't find other occourrences in the forum. For the more tech savy I'm running XP Home Sp3 and the Macbook is the first unibody. Also I'd been waiting since Jenuary for a update to this problems but nothins has come up yet - The "apple software update" is pushing just Safari 4 and I think this is hardly going to improve the situation.
Any hint?

Apple needs to update the Trackpad driver as well as their wireless driver. There was a very long thread going on about the Trackpad driver and BSOD.
The soulution was to disable some functionality, sorry, I don't remember what exactly.
Possibly not related: The Apple wireless (Broadcom) driver causes audio drop outs but can be fixed with an update located on Microsoft's site, the Trackpad driver will need to be updated by Apple.

Kein Ruhezustand unter Mavericks

Nach dem Update auf Mavericks lässt sich mein IMAC nicht mehr in den Ruhezustand versetzen. Lediglich der Bildschirm wird schwarz. Angeschlossene Festplatten schalten sich erst nach geraumer Zeit aus. Zu jedem Zeitpunkt lässt sich der Rechner über die Bluetooth-Mouse wieder einschalten. Unter Lion ging das nur über einen Tastendruck auf der Tastatur. Handelt es sich wirklich noch um einen stromsparenden Ruhezustand?

Ich nutze Lightroom u.a. zum Verwalten eines Archivs, was auf DVDs abgelegt ist. Damit ich die DVD wiederfinde, auf der sich ein gesuchtes Image befindet, sollte der Name der DVD auch angezeigt werden (bzw. in der Ordnerstruktur sichtbar sein). Am Mac funktioniert das auch, wie man es erwartet ;) Nun brauche ich mal einen Katalog auf einem Vista-PC bzw. möchte zu einem vorhandenen neue Archiv-DVDs hinzufügen. Hier wird der Datenträgername nicht erkannt (bzw. berücksichtigt) und die DVD nur unter dem Laufwerksbuchstaben abgelegt?!? Ich habe schon alles Mögliche versucht und auch schon reichlich im Netz nach einer Lösung gesucht und kann nicht glauben, daß es eine solche Kernfunktion für eine Bilddatenbank in Lightroom nicht geben sollte. Ich hoffe, daß ich nur etwas falsch mache - vielleicht weiß jemand einen Rat...

Acrobat X Std. unter WinXP: ohne Adminrechte ständige Windows Installer-Meldungen

Hallo zusammen,
wir haben momentan ein Riesen-Problem an einer Windows XP Maschine auf der frisch Acrobat X Standard installiert wurde. Der User der an dem PC arbeitet hat keine lokalen Admin- sondern nur Hauptbenutzerrechte. Jedes mal wenn der User auf irgendeine Datei einen Rechtsklick macht, Acrobat, Word, Excel oder Outlook startet oder eine PDF, XLS, DOC etc Datei aufmachen will kommt sofort eine Meldung vom Windows Installer dass man sich doch bitte gedulden soll weil Windows gerade dabei ist Acrobat X zu konfigurieren. (Siehe auch Anhang) Diese Meldung kommt wirklich JEDES mal... Dann darf man erst mal die ~1min warten bis der Dialog verschwindet, und dann öffnet sich erst das Kontextmenü, die Datei oder das Programm das man starten wollte.
Lapidare Aussage vom Adobe-Support: Acrobat ist tief im System verankert und braucht deswegen die Admin-Rechte, punkt. Für sonstige Fragen bitte an die Community wenden, vielleicht haben die ja eine Idee.
Was wir schon versucht haben:
- User lokale Admin-rechte gegeben: Meldung weg. Ist zwar eine Lösung, kommt aber nicht in Frage. Sobald man dem User die Rechte wieder nimmt kommt die Meldung zurück.
- User Vollzugriff auf "C:\Programme\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0" und in der Registry HKLM\Software\Adobe gegeben: kein Effekt
Hat von euch noch wer eine Idee was man versuchen kann? Nach dem 3. Anruf bei der Adobe-Hotline war der Herr immerhin so nett und meinte er schickt uns eine Liste mit für Acrobat "wichtigen Verzeichnissen" die wir mal durch probieren können, aber ohne Garantie dass es was bringt. Die Mail ist noch nicht angekommen...
Er meinte noch, dass man ansonsten eventuell hier im Community-Forum jemanden finden könnte der eine ähnliche Situation schon hatte und weiter helfen kann.
Bin für jeden Tipp dankbar. Vorerst kommen wir wohl nicht drum herum dem Benutzer die höheren Rechte zu lassen damit er nicht durchdreht, aber das ist nur eine Übergangslösung.
Hätte nie gedacht dass Adobe so einen Mist einfach so durchgehen lässt, vor allem in Zeiten der UAC bei der alle Programme erst mal nur minimale Rechte haben...

Na mit der Regiastry das ist schon mal nicht dumm, nur stimmt sicher der Schlüssel nicht. Wenn, dann ist das sicher der Master Handler unter HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Einfach mal Process Monitor auf das System ansetzen und genau schauen, welche Reg Keys er nun abfragt. Und vermutlich brauchst du auch keine Admin Rechte. Sowas beruht in der Regel darauf, dass globale Benutzerrechte nicht vererbt werden. Könnte durch nicht aktualisierte Alt-User passieren oder spezielle Regelungen in der Group Policy. In dem Fall dann einfach die Berechtigungen zurücksetzen und evtl. den Besitz übernehmen.

I made a 32gb XP partition with boot camp assistant.
I deleted it with bootcamp assistant (restored to 1 OS X partition) and now its gone BUT in disc utility and finder it says the HDD only has 265gb free. How do I get my 32gb back?

I doubt many of us have had the problem you describe so knowing what to do about it is difficult. The problem is that the Boot Camp Assistant does dynamic repartitioning which few tools can do anything about.
Have you tried contacting AppleCare? Given Boot Camp is beta I doubt you'll get help for it though.
Persoanlly, if it's on another drive why don't you just manually do the repartition, which would erase the whole drive, and restore your data to it? That's what I'd do.

Install and run Oracle 9i on WinXP Prof

I have downloaded and installed Oracle 9i (I picked the one that said XP, and was on three zip-files).
After figuring out, that it was impossible to just double-click setup.exe, I had to start it from Command-prompt..
The installation went nearly ok.
Oracle went into a "test-fase" and upon testing "Database Configuration Assistant"
I got the following error message:
Invalid entry size, expected 419438592 but got 419438599
The rest of the tests were ok.
Now, I am NOT really used to installing Oracle anywhere, I just use Oracle with selects... So, I dont really know if mentioned error is a problem?
Anyway, how do I start the Oracle database? I have a Win98 machine, where i have a "Start database" and "Stop database" entry in Start->programs->oracle->administration
