Ken Burns incongruity..making it stop.

I've loaded a few hundred jpegs into an album of iphoto to give a presentation. It isn't slideshow formatted; I want to manually advance the pegs using my Mac remote that came with my computer.
But when I do that, it appears to be applying a Ken Burnsesque effect to my photos. Not that the individual jpeg is actually moving or zooming. Rather, that some of the static pictures show that effect. One will be closeuped, one will be offcenter cutting off the left side of the picture, etc.
This is only happening when I use the remote and advance pictures with it. When I view the same pictures directly form the album and use my mouse to advance, they work fine. (And I am viewing with full screen in both cases.).
Any suggestions as to how I can stop this effect and simply see my pictures in the same size and static format would be much appreciated.

In the  Settings for the Ken Burns slideshow you can choose a start and end point for the effect - in other words decide where is pans from and to.
But that said, it's pretty basic. Other apps have more fine control and might be worth checking out.
Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie, on every Mac sold.
Others, in order of price: PhotoPresenter  $29
PhotoToMovie  $49.95
PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • How can I stop iMovie from automatically cropping and applying kens burns to my photos?

When I import stills into iMovie, it automatically adds a kens burns effect to each photo, and crops them. If I want to get rid of these effects, I have to do it manually for each individual photo. This takes alot of time and is very tedious to do. Is there a way that I can stop iMovie from automatically adding these effects? Or maybe a way that I can undo these effects on all photos at the same time?

in the iMovie Project settings/pref, you can switch-off the automatic applying of KB

  • Stopping the Fade to Black on Ken Burns Slide Show?

I am trying to make a slideshow using the Ken Burns template. I want to be able to make a loop-able file (.mov or other), so I can make a looping DVD. At the end of my sideshow, there is a one second fade to black - Is there any way to stop that fade out or is there another way to do this effect without the fade out?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Ken Burns start and stop points

In iMovie, when using the Ken Burns effect how can I set the start and stop points to be the same? I don't want to just use "Crop" because my understanding is that using the Ken Burns effect will result in a clearer still photo.

The renderer that is used when the Ken Burns effect is on does give a clearer still photo when converted to video. On an older version of iMovie I could set the startpoint and then use a key-sequence that was a shortcut to set the endpoint to be the same as the startpoint. I was hoping there was a similar feature with the newer version of iMovie. Then I wouldn't have to adjust the start and stop rectangles for a 100 photos.

  • Photos get auto-cropped and ken burns. stop it.

Trying to do a stop motion. don't need the photos to movie. Cant get imovie to stop auto cropping and ken burns-ing the photos on import from iphoto. Would be fine, but i can't bulk adjust them either, tired of going through frame by frame and putting it back to fit. help.

When you start a new project, or to change a project you are currently working on, go to FILE/PROJECT PROPERTIES, and you can change the default behaviour for initial photo placement from Ken Burns to either FIT or CROP. Crop will make the photo fit the frame exactly by cropping off the top abd bottom. FIT will make the entire photo fit by letterboxing.
If you make your photos have the same aspect ratio as your project (either 16:9 or 4:3), then FIT and CROP produce the same result, and nothing is lost from the photo.
The FILE/PROJECT PROPERTIES will only change photos that you add going forward.
To change a bunch of photos that are already there, change one photo using the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tool. Then, with the photo still selected, EDIT/COPY.
Now, select all the photos you want to change by holding down the Command Key as you click, so you can select multiple photos.
    Now, click EDIT/PASTE ADJUSTMENTS.../CROP ADJUSTMENTS.

  • Making Ken Burns Slideshows that fit screen

I like the Ken Burns effect, and I've used it on my first three Slideshows; however, I need some tips on making the images fit the screen. Most of the time, there is no problem, but with too many images, the person's face is scanted, and that's the most important part. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against knees, hips and laps, it's just that I want the viewer to see the FACE. Also, sometimes the image has writing that is important--to me but not to the Ken Burns effect. How can I limit or focus the effect so that things I consider to be important are not negected. I might add that I now remember that I didn't use the effect on my third Slideshow because of the problems I've outlined.

In the  Settings for the Ken Burns slideshow you can choose a start and end point for the effect - in other words decide where is pans from and to.

Ken Burns effects are unsmooth. They stop and start, also stutter as they zoom.  Can anyone advise?

Are you noticing this while playing back a project you're working on in iMovie or are you notivinh it in finsihed projects (i.e. projects you output or Shared)?
If the former, that could indicate something about your hardware configuration that's struggling to keep up with rendering your project on the fly while it's playing in iMovie.  Are you running other apps? Do you have limited hard drive space?
What are the specs of your Mac?

  • Stopping the Ken Burns Effect

I'm making a slideshow in Iphoto 11 and every time I add a picture it automatically adds the Ken Burns effect. Is there anyway to make this not happen without having to change the settings in each individual picture?
    Thanks

What theme are you using? Try select the Classic, it has no KB effect.

  • Stopping Photo in Ken Burns Fade

I am creating a photo montage in IMovie 10. I like the Ken Burns effect, but want the photo to stop for a second or two before the fade. By the time the effect gets to the closeup, it goes right into the next fade. Help!

What you do is to select the photo with the Ken Burns effect and make a copy to follow it.  Select the copy and switch the start and end Ken Burns windows.  You do this by clicking on the double arrow button to the right of the Ken Burns button.  Then press the Crop button and you will crop to exactly the same point as you have at the end of the first photo.  Adjust the duration of the copy and you are done.

  • How to stop KEN BURNS

When looking at photo in front row how can you stop the KEN BURNS, I have created slideshows in iPhoto with no ken burns and my music, but when I select that slideshow with front row it just seems to ken burns and default music.
    What is I'm doing wrong?

alright, I figured out the reason why it wasn't using the settings that I specified. You have to change the slideshow settings in every album that you create. I had changed the settings only for the Library, so every time I had a different album playing in Front Row it had its own unique settings. Just hit "Play" in the bottom right corner of iPhoto in the desire album or Library and change the settings. They should stick for Front Row.

  • IPhoto 9.5.1 stop Ken Burns effect

The "help" for iphoto 9.5.1 doesn't seem to help. How do I stop the Ken Burns effect? Also how do I change the size of the picture in full screen virw. In a slideshow I am losing some of the picture.

Is this slideshow directly from an album or in the slideshow mode?  What theme are you using?

  • Zoom and pan with Ken Burns and then stop and hold the image

    Hi all,
I'd like to zoom and pan on a photo with Ken Burns and then stop at the "end" -cropping and hold the image there on my project for a few seconds. Is this possible?

    I found a new solution.
I select the ready "Ken Burnsed" photoclip and ctrl-click and choose copy, and then paste the exactly same kind of clip right behind the original. Then i go to the 'cropping, ken burns and rotation'- window, make shure that the start box is on the same crop as the ending of the original clip ( you can switch between start and end crops from the arrow thingy in the corner of the box) , and click crop. There I have the righty cropped stillframe right behind of the original.
I don't know if this is the right method, but it works thanks for everyone for helping, and if you find a better way, please post. I have this thread subscribed.

  • IPhoto 11 - Stopping the Ken Burns effect altogether

I saw the reply about using Classic theme to stop Ken Burns effect in a particular slideshow but is there any way to stop the cursed effect across the whole of iPhoto? This and the playing of music ought to be settable as defaults in iPhoto preferences with the opportunity to override for particular slideshows.

No. You have to deselect it for each slideshow you create, Send a feature request for being able to turn it off globally to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • IPhone4 to ATV2 slideshow - How do I stop Ken Burns effect?

How can I turn off the Ken Burns effect during aiplay from an iPhone 4?
Using the iPhone4 (iOS 5) to play a photo slideshow on the AppleTV (just upated) and I don't seem to be able to turn off the "Ken Burns" effect on the iPhone. The pictures are too zoomed and you cannot see the faces. However, when I play the same slideshow on the iPhone4 the effect is not there.
So I am unsure if this an iPhone or AT2 issue, but I hope someone can help.
    Thanks

    Hi BobbyCo57,
Thanks for helping but that option is not there, just the transition options (Disolve etc).
This is what I can see from Photos, events, photo, play:
    Then when I enter "Transitions"
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks

    Is all you're software up-to-date?
At a guess, I suspect that the slideshow is endlessly looping, trying to find a second or subsequent pic. Afterall, a one shot slideshow is unusual. For that kind of slow pan you might have more luck with an app like PhotoToMovie. (http://www.lqgraphics.com).
