KERN-EXEC 3 Error

I've tried to open a PowerPoint presentation on my Nokia 9300 but crashes and generates a "KERN-EXEC 3" error.
I've reformatted the phone and reinstalled PC Suite (version 6.81) to see if this fixes the problem but no joy.
Any ideas how to fix this?

I don't think installing Pc Suite has anything to do with powerpoint in the phone and kernel error you are getting.
Did the powerpoint presentation came from the PC originally (so it is Microsoft Powerpoint format?). The conversion to Symbian format is done in the phone, not by PC Suite. The kernel error may be due to conversation failing.

  • Kern-Exec Error when sending emails from 9500

    Hi There
My first post so hopefully someone may be able to help and I'll try to help others if I can.
Just recently I have been unbale to send emails from my Nokia 9500. I don't think I've been doing anything differently but I keep getting KERN-EXEC error reason No 3, when I try to send email messages. Strange that I'm able to receive messages ok though.
I looked at some of the other posts and followed mobile manic's advice for other KERN-EXEC errors. I backed up the phone contents to the PC, restored the phone to default settings and then re-loaded all the backed up stuff.
Sadly, I still get the KERN-EXEC error message when I try to send emails. It seems to conect to GPRS ok but then the message just sits in the Outbox waiting to go but never does. So when I close the program (after leaving it for a few mins) that's when I get the KERN-EXEC error message.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Sparky007

    Hi there Sparky!
I don't suppose you tried to send an email before you restored the backup did you? Sometimes backups can back up the problem as well which is a bit annoying.
If you can send an email ok before restoring the backup then the problem must be embedded in the backup... otherwise the only thing I could suggest is contacting a Nokia engineer to get them to have a look at it.
Not sure what else to suggest... good luck though and let us know how you get on.

  • PSION/Symbian KERN-EXEC error

I have inherited a PersonalJava business application which runs on PSION s5/7, Pocket PC and Windows. For some reason on the PSIONs we have started getting reports of the following from users...
    PROGRAM CLOSED
    Program AWT-SERVER 00
    Reason Code KERN-EXEC
    Reason Number 3
when they try to start a new version of the application.
We are investigating why this should happen, but it would be great to hear from anone who has had previously experienced such an error when running a Java app on a PSION. The .jar file is 290KB for this version of the app.. was previously 252KB.... is it a possibility that this is too big? Is there a max jar size for the PSION JVM?...
    Anyway replies would be appreciated.
    Thanks

The JVM we're using is the withIntent JVM from TAO:
    http://tao-group.com/ and http://withintent.biz/
This is the JVM used on the Psion Teklogix netpad. I don't know about availability for Series 5/7. The nearest thing to a Series 5/7 is the netBook, which does not have an official TAO JVM available, though there was talk of one being released - I don't know what progress has been made here, or if one is still going to be released.
I'd checkout http://www.psionteklogix.com and submit a query there.
    Good luck.

  • 9500 Kern-Exec Error 3 Problems

When I try to log on to Tiscali email site at http://www.tiscali.co.uk/login/index.php?url=/commscentre/email/index.php Most of the site loads but then the phone crashes back to the desktop with a Kern-Error Reason 3 error message. This sounds very similar to problems other users are having with 9500s and 9300s when importing data. I have upgraded to the latest firmware. Seems to be an issue when a certain character is received, regardless of cable, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or whatever connection is being used. Anyone out there managed to identify what the problem is or find a cure?
    RichC

Ok. So I will install a Trial N-Gage game & check. If it works, I will purchase the game.
    Thank you for the solution.

  • E51 Kern-Exec 0 Erorr

Hi to everyone! I upgraded my E51 to newest firmware (400.34.011) using nokia Nokia Software Updater and after that run in trouble with Kern-Exec 0 Error. Have absolutely no idea why and when it shows up. Mostly I get it when I just lock keypad.
Reseting settings or reinstalling the same firmware won't help. Any solutions?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

try option #2 do a back up before you proceed. reinstall firmware and rigth after do a reformat and see if it helps. you can always resort to option 3 if none of the stuff does not work.
    1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for all operations listed here is 12345
    2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone
    3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. )
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.
You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me ! In love with technology and all that it can offer. Join me in discovery....

I HAVE TO OPEN COVER AND HAVE TO WORK WITH THE PHONE EVERYTIME WITH INSIDE KEYPAD.
    IT SHOWS BELO ERROR.......

    Reason code:kern-exec
    reason number:3
    2) program:cuiprofile1101f859
    reason:kern-exec
    reason number:-3
i am very sad now. you guys pls help me what to do?
    mithun

Sounds quite serious. I'd suggest taking a backup of your phone, format it, then restore the backup - that should sort it out.
To format the communicator, remove and then replace the battery. Then when you see the word Nokia in blue on the inside screen, hold down the ctrl, shift and F keys simultaneously. After the word Nokia disappears and before the Nokia handshake logo appears, you should be given the option to completely format the device .
ALL DATA on the phone memory will be completely erased and the original settings restored so make sure you have any important data backed up.
If you didn't get the option to format the device before the Nokia handshake logo appears, repeat the same process again and hopefully you will receive the option before this logo appears.

I found the new release of Papyrus really fine, it uses properly the screen.
E90 should have security for apps, so only perfect apps could be installed If you have 27 working Ok, how many not Ok have you tried out? Please don't tell, everything has woked fluently you have tried.
I've installed maybe 50 application. All erased as no usage for me. Some did install, some not. Some did start, some not. Some are crashing, some not. And these people should rely on? Data connectivity + messaging + contacts. Sure
Video players etc are Ok and good from 3rd party. Any app integrating to messages and contact etc, i don't trust. As those might mess up lot more then provide benefits.
Example one instant messaging sw did cause SMS's to missfunction. Who could tell that might happen. Mobile are still priority 1 for me. Things to play second.
No. Are you and Dom intentionally trying to torpedo the E90 for some nefarious reason? One primary reason I view E90 better than iPhone is that it is an "Open" platform--anyone anywhere can install applications and not void some "warranty." Apple, of course, "locked down" the iPhone for precisely the reasons your advocating--for phone and network "security."
I'm sorry to hear that Papyrus is (apparently) causing Dom to have problems--but I have to wonder if it's really Papyrus... and knowing how Dom generally has bad logic (i.e., blaming the entire phone for a quirk of a single 3rd application), I have to be a little suspicious of his conclusion. Did he uninstall the app and the problem went away? Did he call the app manufacturer? I mean, my God man, if I had a problem with Photoshop I call Adobe, not Microsoft.
Perhaps it's another application causing the problem? Is he running a memory utility like Tracker? Perhaps it's accessing another application's memory outside of a mutex spinlock and causing the Kernel exception?
What I do know is that I use at least a dozen different 3rd party apps on the E90--some of them very memory and CPU intensive... and have not ONCE seen this problem (although I've seen something similar on my 9300i when I loaded some poorly written applications; I can TRUTHFULLY say they were poorly written because I wrote them--once has to learn somehow).

  • E51 Application closed: Contacts KERN-EXEC 3

    Hi,
recently I get often this problem: "Application closed: Contacts KERN-EXEC 3".
    Scenario:
    - I go to Contacts,
    - I search for a contact,
    - I press to open it and then stays for 10sec aprox. until open it. And if I choose to go back I got that error.
Mention: not everytime I got this problem. Lets say 5 from 10 times.
    Any suggestions?

I have an E60 and an E51 and I never had this problem but it is a 'panic code'.
this can be due to all kinds of causes. Only a few:
    1) conflict in the applications that you have open
    2) conflict in applications that load at startup
    3) memory lack
-1) Try to find out if it only happens when you have certain applications open.
-2) Try to remember if the problem suddenly started after you installed an application that needed a restart to function properly (anti virus software, encrypting software etc.)
-3) Try to close as many applications as you can and only have the contacts open and see if it happens then too.
I would also suggest to switch off the phone overnight. i myself had a 'strange behavior problem' solved after simply switching off the phone. I think it had to do with memory fragmentation cause I got the message too little memory while my E51 must have had over 100MB free memory. And a simple restart did not help.
do you have a huge contact list? Maybe the list is too big for your phones memory. then you will suffer a memory problem and you have to delete some contacts.
If nothing helps.... go to a nokia care point

  • KERN-EXEC 0

KERN-EXEC 0 panics while running my application. It's a bluetooth based application, when ever I trid to do the device/service discovery I was getting this panic. The interesting part is that I didn't get this error always, it was comming randomly. Another thing is if there were more than two devices then this error was not coming.
Can anybody guide me in this regard. I'm realy fed-up with this problem. Any clue will be of great helpful.

  • Kern protection error from Call of Duty 2 game

Hey everyone,  I was told if anyone could help me it would be on here.
Over the last few weeks I started getting the odd kern protection error while playing my Call of Duty 2 game.  I have had this game for years and this had never happened before. Over the last week, it now occurs EVERY time I play the game. I sometimes can get 5 minutes in the game before it crashes and sometimes it is only seconds.
I have OS X version 10.4.11 on 24 inch iMac
2.16 GHz intel Core 2 Duo
    1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
I have run the Hardware Test disk and it found no issues.
I thought it may be my gpu overheating but was told the temps are in normal ranges.  Here is a sample of the temps immediately after the error:
    Temp (all in Celsius)
    HD - 46
    CPU - 41
    Ambient - 23
    GPU - 53
    GPU Diode - 63
    GPU Heatsink - 53
    HD Bay - 46
    Optical Drive - 37
    Fan speed
    Optical Drive - 599 rpm
    CPU Fan - 998 rpm
    HD Fan - 1299 rpm
I also ran MemTest on the machine and everything came back OK.
I had installed MacScan a few weeks ago so removed it, still no improvement.
I also installed StartupSoundPref a few weeks ago and still have that installed.
I am out of ideas and the wife is concerned because I wander around the house aimlessly.  Any input appreciated.
