Kernal Error (Panic log inside)
I have had my computer crash with the kernal error screen multiple times for about 20 days now. I have used ths site as areference to solve the issue: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html as it was directed at an earlier thread somene else made with the same issue.
I have done the hardware checks, repaired disk permissions, cleared the cache's, and the firmware is up to date. Here is the most recent log:

Thanks for listening .
There's no best way. I use Carbon Copy Cloner, but SuperDuper!, SilverKeeper, Disk Utility, etc. can all do the job. Peruse these for ideas:

Kernal panic error - Etrecheck report inside
So I just tried upgrading to Mountain Lion from Lion and got the dreaded kernal errors upon reboot. From reading these posts, it seems 3rd party software may be the problem.
I ran Etrecheck, but I can't decipher it enough to figure out where my problem lies.
Can someone walk me through the problem here, and how to rid it?
Problem description:
Upgraded to OSX 10.8, got kernal panic errors

Kernel panics are usually caused by a hardware problem – frequently RAM, a USB device or a Firewire device. When trying to troubleshoot problems, disconnect all external devices except your kbd & mouse. Do you experience the same problems? Do you have another mouse you could use?

Help needed in interpreting panic log from kernel panic error
My G4 iBook has started giving me kernel panic errors, often immediately after starting up. I haven't installed any new software or RAM recently. I've done a clean system install (completely clean - not an archive and install) then downloaded the combo update for 10.4.11. But the kernel panics are still happening from time to time. I've looked at the panic log, but it means nothing to me, so I'm hoping someone can help:

Kernel panics are usually caused by a hardware problem – frequently RAM, a USB device or a Firewire device. What external devices do you have connected?
To eliminate RAM being the problem, Look at this link: *Testing RAM* @ http://guides.macrumors.com/Testing_RAM Then download & use Memtest & Ramber.
Running the Apple Hardware Test in Loop Mode is an excellent troubleshooting step for finding intermittent hardware problems. It is especially useful when troubleshooting intermittent kernel panics. If Loop Mode is supported by the version of the Apple Hardware Test you are using, you run the Extended Test in Loop Mode by pressing Control-L before starting the test. Looping On should appear in the right window. Then click the Extended Test button. The test will run continuously until a problem is found. If a problem is found, the test will cease to loop, indicating the problem it found. If the test fails, be sure to write down the exact message associated with the failure. In some cases, RAM problems did not show up until nearly 40 loops, so give it a good run.

Kernal panic - log mentions firewire repeatedly but no firewire device
Hi Guys,
Any help appreciated with this. Firstly although my profile states leopard+ macpro this relates to a G5 running 10.4.11. We had a kernel panic earlier on a machine that has seemed buggy over the last few days (in spite of running Applejack). Weirdly the log mentions firewire repeatedly in spite of no device being mounted (there is a drive plugged in but not mounted + powered off). Ran verify disk + repaired permissions (nothing needed repairing) afterwards. Any ideas? Thank you.

Understanding crash logs isn’t easy and it’s hard (sometimes impossible) to decipher the cause of the problem. Take a look at Apple’s Crash Reporter document at http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2004/tn2123.html

Could someone please help me read this panic log?
Hi,
I have been trying to read all the past postings on reading panic logs. Most of them start of with something different, which refers to RAM. Its been almost a month now and I haven't had any problems until this evening. Here is what the log says...

I was working in Corel Painter, using a wacom tablet. Then I got a message to restart my computer. After 10 years of working on Macs, I have never experienced this. Thanks in advance to anyone that could help.Hi-
Your panic log pretty clearly states it's a problem with RAM:
<pre class="command">Uncorrectable Fbd memory error detected.</pre>What is your memory configuration? Presumably this is your Mac Pro? If you're comfortable working inside your computer, you could swap RAM cards around.
I did a Google search for the error quoted above and came up with a couple of hits. One from February has some good information on one person's experience, resulting eventually in a logic board replacement under warranty.
charlie -
I've been troubleshooting intermittent kernel panics that have been happening on my late 2013 27" iMac. I had upgraded the stock RAM with 32 GB of RAM from Crucial and in the past the only time I have had similar issues was because of faulty RAM. So I swapped in a new set of RAM, but the problems continued.
Initially the errors would happen sometime during the night when I was logged out and when I would log on in the morning I would get a "Sleep Wake Failure experienced a problem" and the machine had been rebooted. But in the past week I have had several instances where the machine would all of a sudden go to the gray screen and tell me the computer had to be rebooted because of a problem. I've read in other threads hat the panic log can sometimes be helpful to narrow down the problem, but I am clueless as to how to read the log.
If anyone can help me narrow the problem down or point me in a good direction I would be forever thankful. Very frustarting becasue we have two identical iMacs that are basically carbon copies of each other and we only have the issue on one. Here is the log from the last time it rebooted while working:

My next step is to swap back to original memory but those sticks are in another machine so I have to pull them from there. Initially the problem was only happening at night so I disabled the "Power Nap", as I was reading another thread that referenced similar problems to those that I was having. Everything was Ok after that for about a week and then it started up again. Either way it was not really a fix, but I was trying to see if there was any pattern.
But as I said above, next step is to swap back to original memory but I do not have access to that machine at the moment. -

Edited by: Deepak23 on Oct 24, 2007 11:16 PMOne of my standard answers (which will explain the use of Directory Objects)...
The UTL_FILE_DIR parameter has been deprecated by oracle in favour of direcory objects because of it's security problems.
The correct thing to do is to create a directory object e.g.:
CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY mydir AS 'c:\myfiles';Note: This does not create the directory on the file system. You have to do that yourself and ensure that oracle has permission to read/write to that file system directory.
Then, grant permission to the users who require access e.g....
GRANT READ,WRITE ON DIRECTORY mydir TO myuser; Then use that directory object inside your FOPEN statement e.g.
fh := UTL_FILE.FOPEN('MYDIR', 'myfile.txt', 'r');Note: You MUST specify the directory object name in quotes and in UPPER case for this to work as it is a string that is referring to a database object name which will have been stored in uppercase by default. -

I won't claim to be an expert at reading Panic Logs, but until someone with more experience can step in, these two things caught my eye:
Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies):
jp.plentycom.driver.SteerMouse(3.9)@0xc20000->0xc27fff
BSD process name corresponding to current thread: Parallels
The phrase "Kernel trap at 0x00010000, type 6=invalid opcode" suggests that something was trying to execute garbage. -
Does anyone know how to read a panic log? It's been suggested that I might be experiencing a kernel panic because my computer has begun spontaneously shutting itself off. My version of Mac OSX 10.3.5 did not come with Apple Hardware Test so I can't check if it has bad RAM, but there was a panic log generated at about the time of the first crash.
G4 DP 1.0 GHz 1.5 gig RAM Mac OS X (10.3.9)Hello! Try reading Dr Smokes article about kernal panics HERE and for crash log detailed info look HERE. Problems usually follow a logical pattern...that is that if you recently installed additional memory then that's the most logical place to start trying to isolate a problem and so on with added other hardware. A lot of the time ram is the problem but the crash log may give you a hint of what caused the crash. Tom

What good are the Panic Logs?
I have reported Panic Logs to my local Apple store and ask that they check the codes to identify what is causing the kernel panics. Here is a sample code below:
I highlighted the codes I mentioned. It seems to me that these codes should identify the hardware or problem area to check. If not, why even produce a log. You would think Apple would have a book of codes to help identify problems. I know hardware testing is necessary and may help identify a problem but sometimes Apple may send memory chips, a logic board when it fact if someone could identify the codes, it may point to something different. When Apple bring parts to your house, they are limited to only 5 replacment parts. These codes would provide a valuable resource but no one seems to take advantage of them, or no one has a clue about how to read or identify what the panic log is saying. Apple will not even contact anyone in development for help. What is your opinion??

Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Mon Sep 25 19:42:00 PDT 2006; root:xnu-792.13.8.obj~1/RELEASE_I386If you received this exact error code in your Panic Log:
Uncorrectable Fbd memory error detected. ferr = 30000800 , nerr == 00000000
please tell me how Apple solved the problem?
Did they replace the memory? If so, how did they narrow down what chip was at fault.
Did they replace the logic card? Apple came to my house and could not remove the screws to take out the old motherboard. They indicated they have found that to be a problem with others.
Any other solutions to this panic log that Apple was able to solve? -

Nearly daily Mac Mini restarts - Panic log attached
Hi Guys and Gals,
I get almost daily (un-intended) reboots of my Mac Mini. Also, often when I use Screen Sharing to remotely control it, it will reboot.
Any help or insight you can give would be appreciated!

I have a 15" aluminum G4 that's about 2.5 years old. I'm running OS 10.4.7. I've always had problems with kernel panics but I've learned to live with them -- until recently. They seem to be increasing in frequency; about 4 per day now. It usually happens when I'm online, which I often access via airport, though I'm plugged into a LAN at work. I use Firefox as a browser. I would appreciate any insight into the meaning of the following report from my computer's panic log and, I'm hoping, solutions to the problem. The log seems to show the same message consistently.

Thanks for your help in advance. - RickHi, Huskies81.
The panic log is flagging your AirPort card:
Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies):
com.apple.iokit.AppleAirPort2...
Be sure the AirPort card is installed properly and hasn't come loose.
If that doesn't solve it, see my "Resolving Kernel Panics" FAQ. This FAQ includes step-by-step instructions for identifying and resolving some of the most common causes of kernel panics.
My FAQ is a roadmap: start at the beginning and work through to the end, including the "If all else fails..." section if a cause or resolution is not found in an earlier troubleshooting step therein.
The "uncorrectable machine check" panic, i.e.
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x000A8E00): Uncorrectable machine check...
indicates a RAM problem, low-level programming error, or other hardware issue such as a defective processor or logic board problem. A faulty or improperly installed AirPort Card would qualify as "other hardware issue." However, even though the backtrace sections of the panic logs are flagging AirPort components, there may be other issues causing the panic and the AirPort components were merely engaged at the time of the panic. Hence why it is important to follow the troubleshooting roadmap in my FAQ.
Good luck!

I have had continuous problems with my computer. First Apple said it was the Ram...replaced...same thing still happening. So they said oh, must be the logic board...replaced...still happening. Glad I have apple care or i might be more angry. ha.
Basically not sure what is going on.. i have tried to figure out if its a software issue. But it happens at different times. It did seem related to internet use. But turned all that off and worked in photoshop and it happened anyway.
Love the gray screen with all the languages telling me my computer is whack and wants to restart, they must know how i like to brush up on my foreign languages...but i feel that i have learned all i can at this point.
I am copy and pasting my panic log, so anyone who might understand what it is saying. Please shed some light on what i can try to do now.
I use airport to connect to internet. FYI.
Here it is (its long, happens frequently after all)
