Kernal Panic happens again on 1.67GHz 15"
This is the second time happened since yesterday. I have done apple hardware test/fix-verify permissions/fix-verify hard disk in the past (because it happened before).
So it just happened again about 15mins ago, the power sign with error messages (your need to restart your comp etc etc) came out. So I tried to restart, and the following screen appeared soon after I pressed the power button:
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h186/netwr/misc/f0457e1d.jpg
Does this have to do with memory? I have done apple hardware test and it appears that the memory (1x1gig and 1x512mb) are in good condition.
It might be a concidence, but two times it happened while I was using Safari.
So what else can I do? Thanks for you input.
Just installed Rember and ran a test. Here's the result:

Kernal panic strike again (w/ reversed date)
Kernal panic has come back again. This time more strange things happened. After my PB encountered the first kernal panic, I rebooted it. As soon as it got to the desktop, after 6-7 secs later, the computer shut down itself. So I restarted it again, when it got to the desktop, there was a message saying the date has been set back to 3/2006. So I clicked ok. After a few seconds later, it shut down by itself again. So I restarted again. Until now it works ok...
The strange thing was when I checked the panic log, the date was actually set back to Jan 1, 1970.
Here's the panic log:

Many users add ram, to find out later that it is either Cheaper,Incompatible, or the wrong Ram.
This can be isolated by removing one stick and try using your computer, if the issue continues switch to the one you removed and then take out the other.
Remember running Tech Tool, or any of the other types of utilities will NOT Normally identify a stick of bad ram.
Crucial is a good brand and stand behind there product.
Always purchase ram from a company that offers a lifetime a 100% Guarntee.

Kernal Panics. Again!
a couple months ago my computer all of a sudden started having these kernal panics and absolutely nothing i did, including erasing the hd and installing Leopard, helped at all. finally it just went away on its own. now, since yesterday it gets these kernal panics constantly, just like before! when i took it to the genius bar before, it ran for half an hour without crashing but when i brought it back home it acted crazy again or maybe its just a coincidence. can anyone shed some light?
I've been using Macs for a long time so please be assured that I have tried to troubleshoot this already and nothing is working. but i need help from someone who knows more than i do before i just run to the genius bar, again. its a 17" flat panel G4, 1.25Ghz processor, 160Gb hd, 768MB RAM, nothing has been recently installed or updated.I believe you have some bad memory. I've experienced this same problem on my G5. Random crashes and occasional kernal panics. I reinstalled the OS, ran disk utility, you name it, nothing worked.
Then on a hunch, I ran Tech Tool Pro. In the hardware test section I chose to loop the memory test 100 times. I did this a couple of times and the memory passed 199 times out of 200.
My particular model does not require paired memory, so I took one of my two memory cards out. The problem continued. So I put that one back in and took the other one out. The problem went away.
I bought replacement memory, installed it, and haven't had a problem since.
If I had run a hardware test only once, I would not have discovered that my memory was faulty. -
can someone tell me what they think is going on....I copied my log file below. I would much appreciate it

Mid2010 imac running Mavericks, reoccuring kernal panic
Can someone help me look into the problem? It's been troubling me for a while. Thanks a lot!
The kernal panic issue had been with my imac since before I updated to Mavericks. Things I tried:
1. Safe mode. Seems okay. Didn't manage to replicate kernal panic.
2. repaire disk permission and disk in recovery mode
3. reset NVRAM
4. Reseated RAM and also tried new RAM later
Mostly I used the imac to watch video. So almost all kernal panic happened during my watching video. Sometimes kernal panic happened again and again if I restarted imac right after a panic.
The diagnosis reports I got is like this:

Thunderbolt Bus:Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -

I am no expert, but I did not see anything that I recognize as "the problem." In cases like this, diagnosing kernel panics is a step-by-step process. Start by disconnecting all peripherals and restart the Mac to see if the problem goes away. If the problem remains, continue with the next suggestion and repeat until you find the problem. Then you will know what to fix.

Kernal Panic during startup.
Please help,
I get a kernal panic when i try to start my iMac.
Same thing happens when i try safe mode and when i select the OS X install disk i can here it spinning but kernal panic happens before disk options come up.
I have tried single user mode and running fsck but that didn't help either.
I don't have any third party hardware installed.
In single user mode it says that my root_device is read only.
can anyone tell me how to change that at the command prompt and if that would help.
thanksHello den,
No i didn't get to the DVD desktop at all and I'm using a white USB keyboard.
If I hold c, i can here the disk spinning but before anything comes up i get the kernel panic.
Same happens if i hold alt and pick the OS X Install disk as the boot disk.
I also have the latest version of disk warrior. When i try using that to boot it spins for about 10 minutes before the same kernel painic.
Under Single-User mode, it says that my root directory is read only. I have tried umount and then remounting the root directory as read write but nothing changes - The entire macintosh HD with whatever errors on it is read only.
I have tried fsck and fsck_hfs and it says ¨macintosh HD appears to be ok¨. -
I returned my first model (hardware test resulted in errors) due to kernal panics. Now my second model is having the same problem. I have reinstalled OS X, the extended hardware test gives no errors, and yet I get a kernal panic at least once every 24 hours. The worst was yesterday, I had 3 in one day. I have stopped using Adium, Quicksilver, MS Office and Adobe software (although they are still installed). My last kernal panic happened when I was simply running Safari and iChat. I am hoping that someone else is sharing my pain, this is quite disturbing!
I have a 2.0 MBP with 1gig of Apple ram, everything stock. Here is the panic.log:

Thanks for your input. I see the airport data as well, but like you, I really don't have enough knowledge to determine if that is the actual cause.
If it were, what are the odds that I would get two completely seperate units with the same hardware error? I have searched the forums and I didn't see any other reports of airport hardware error. Anybody else seeing that?
To address your suggestion: Wouldn't doing a complete wipe and reformat accomplish the same thing as creating another user account?
Also, the only peripheral that I am using is my cellphone over bluetooth, and there does not seem to be a relationship between the phone and the kernal panics, ie. it crashes whether the phone is connected or not.
As much as I would like to find a solution, I would be happy to hear at least that I am not the only MBP owner with this many kernal panics. Thanks for your help so far!

Kernal Panics - Sorry yes Again
Hi
Me like many many many others are suffering the Kernal Panics since updating to Snow Leopard.
Everywhere I look, go and read people reply with, check your memory, and check it is seated correctly and Kernal panics point towards hardware issues.
Now forgive me for maybe sounding stupid here, but how can all these kernal panics since updating to Snow Leopard that people are expierencing be down to mem/hardware when all people have done is update to SNow Leopard.
I assume Apple are aware of all kernal panics, well we all send our reports off so I suppose they must be.
Until then, there it goes again..............................................................OK, here is my crash log.
Still do not see how installing SL can cause so may people to suddenly start getting Ram/Hardware problems.

Kernal Panic Over and Over--repaired, checked yesterday, now again?
Help!
My computer had problems with display, track pad, not powering up, and lots of parts were replaced in January (MacBook Pro purchased 12.31.09). Got it home, after a while constant kernal panics. tried everything, brought it into Apple store yesterday, ran diagnostics, hard disk repaired, seemed OK.
Shortly after I came home it happened again. I repaired permissions, did verify disk, no problems with disk. Updated software, including went to Java and Adobe and updated them.
Nothing works. Now the permissions note lots of problems with Remote Management (one of the updates from yesterday, 5.21) and Java (yesterday too).
What to do? Do I have to bring it back? It's very hard to figure out.
Lulu
MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8, would like to go to Lion but don't want to until my machine is stableHi Lulu,
I would bring it back to the Apple Store. There's obviously something wrong with it and it's their problem (given you just had it repaired), not your's. RAM is often the cause of KPs. Is this the original RAM or third-party that you added? -
Why do I keep getting Kernal Panic warnings to restart my new iMac that is running Lion? This is happening as often as 2 times a week. Never happened with any of my other Apples or Macs and I have been using them since the 1980s.

This is the code I keep rececing when my MBP has a Kernal panic attack. It keeps happening, especially when plugged into an extenal hard drive while watching a film. Any ideas what the problem is or how I can fix it?

What is happening? 5 Kernal Panics in less than a month
Hello,
I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I have a new MacBook Pro 2.4, I updated the memory from the stock 2GB to an OWC 4GB set. I have had 5 kernal panic since I received the machine (approximately 1.5 months, updated memory about a month ago). I know that memory can frequently cause a kernal panic, but I noticed in my Console panic log that it mentions the airport driver. Should I be contacting Apple or OWC? Thank you in advance for you help.

Kernal Panic on 1.67 PB
I experienced the first kernal panic on my 1.67GHz PB this morning. I was using the computer and the big power sign with multi language warning suddently showed up.
I restarted the computer, after the apple logo/spinner went away the power sign/error message appeared again. So I shut down/restarted again and it was gone.
This is a picture of what I referring to:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/04/MacOSXkernelpanic.png
So what should I do to avoid this from happening again? This error message is a type of Directory error (think of the directory as a table of contents). Certain characters cannot be used as file names. One example of this would be using a colon in a file name. If this is the source of the error then DU is likely to have fixed it. However, you cannot know this for sure without booting from the install disk and running Repair Disk for a second time. Many times small directory errors can go undetected but compound over time and lead to kernel panics. This is where having access to your panic log will be helpful in troubleshooting.
There also appear to be other, less benign sources of that error message. See, for example, the bottom of this thread:
http://www.fazed.net/forum/view/?id=22304&p=5
The manufacturer of that particular software, Adobe, has acknowledged the source of the directory problem and posted the fix:
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/332657.html
As hardware appears not to be the source of your kernel panics, netwr, then looking to software issues is the next step. The Genius Bar may be able to isolate the culprit through interpreting your panic log, or may suggest an Archive/Restore of your software, or may suggest wiping the drive and reinstalling, in which case you will want to preserve (backup) your important data.
Thanks for keeping our inquiring minds updated.

Kernal Panic Cost Me Money and No Cure
Hi All
There is a history to this problem and so I will try and set it out so it is easy to read:
Macbook Pro Unibody Late 2008 and early 2009. 2.4 Ghz, 4 gig ram upgraeded from 2 gb in 2009 and woked fine since. Did have OSX 10.5.8
1. For a few months in 2012 I had a problem where I kept getting a kernal panic on boot up BUT I lived with it as I could do a PRAM reset or remove battery and put back in and usuallly worked
2. Late 2012 - problem becoming very frequent and so I run lots of diagnostics online hardware test and everything listed on previous posts......no obvious problem
3. In December I decided to get an SSD and installed this however still getting intermitant problem afer initail success
4. After I had tested without I added old hardrive to dvd bay and still intermitant problem but no chnge from when without adding old harddrive
5. I took to a shop to sure it
6. They said they could not find problem but then fixed the chip [suspicious as to what fixed I think they just installed lion] and installed Lion and working but that they had disabled the old drive and said my warranty would tun out if i reconnected - now I am confident that nothing to do with my old drive.
7. I got it back after paying over £100 and looked like it was working at first.
8. I reconnected mu old hard drive and still working no problem
9. I installed live and still working ok
10. I had bought a apple super drive for loading dvds etc and tried to connect - no success - but the guy at the shop said he had connected a dvd drive no problem
11. After a bit oif reseach i discovered that apple in their wisdom disable apple super drvie from macbook pro that origianally had an internel dvd
12. I opened up /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and chaned to:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>mbasd=1</string>
</dict>
</plist>
basically add the mbasd=1 into the <string>
Now this worked fine but when I first tried to do it I struggled as there is no password set on my mac the guy at shop removed and so i had to add it - this caused a kernal panic at first but then it was ok again
13. I loaded Logic Pro from my super drive
14. Not work initially so download updates etc
15. Logic works great
16. At some point it sarted getting kernal panics again and getting as bad as before
17. I disconnect my old har drive and still getting kernal problems
18. Safe mode has worked a couple of times and once just hung with spinning thing
19. I probably need to get my money back from the guy who tried to fix it but more importantly - I would prefer to get another 2 years out of this macbook pro rather than having to buy a new one or even switching windows etc...
I have so kernal paics below - if anyone could shed any light I would be very gratefull as I have spent far too much time and money on trying to rescue this macbook pro.

com.apple.kext.AppleMatch 1.0.0d1Do a search of this forum for "Problems with Seagate 750GB XT series drive". There is a long thread on users of 2009 MBPs that had many problems with that series drive Until they Replaced the drive cable. Other have posted to that thread with the exact model number of the Updated cable.
It can be found online at places like iFixit.com and maybe OWC, macsales.com.
Funny part about that thread is there was more then one user that kept sending the Seagate drives back to Seagate as defective, Many of them, over and over and that just can't happen. I always contended that it was not a drive problem but a Computer problem. After the original poster, and others that were having the same problems, replaced the cable they never had another problem.

Hi, I am a java developer trying to understand Oracle. Here is my simple question: In oracle each login/user is associated with a tablespace (default) after login. My understanding is that this tablespace serves as the schema name for the db access.
