Kernal Panic Report: Magic Mouse?    Help, please

hello, i am in need of some help understanding what is causing my mac to shut down. i thought i read somewhere that the first line in the kotex is what probably cause the kernal panic. here is the report. i was thinking is it this:
com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch 75.15
any help would be great. i have already performed a clean install to fix some other issues i was having with apps cause the system to crash and the finder freezing. what is weird, also, is avast and intego virus protectors have caused the system to crash. i deleted them and it got better. last night i tried to deleted all of the intego app/files using cleanbymac app uninstaller because the download did not come with an uninstaller. i dont think the uninstall was complete because i kept getting notification that netbarrierd and virusbarriern or d were still running. i could not even force quit them. i when in the apps packages and put it in the trash and uninstalled as much as i could. the crash report no longer says virusbarrier in the beginning. anyone have any ideas with this crash report. do i need a new driver for the magic mouse? i could not find an updage for it on apples site last night. last, i also read from apple that kernal panics are software related. i have already ran a thorough test on my hardware and it passed with flying colors. it was not the quick test either. it took an hour.
super thanks,
brian

Hi, see if Safe Boot works...
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Can anyone decipher my kernal panic report?

I'm having them 2 to 3 times per day. In my limited research, I know it can be related to memory and I am in the process of pulling out pair by pair to isolate which one may be causing it, but no luck as of yet. Or is it related to something in the operating system. Below is the kernal panic report.

If you take it ot the genius bar, the first thing they will say is get rid if this non-Apple kernel extension:
    com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver    1.0.0
This looks a lot like like an Error Correction Code (ECC) memory error. The Mac Pro store additional check bits with each word in mmeory, and corrects single-bit errors on the fly. Uncorrectable errors cause a kernel panic.
The status is also updated in About this Mac > ( More Info ) > Memory...
The status will change to something other than "OK" and possibly to a count.

  • Vertical Lines!! Kernal Panics !!!! Please Help

Hi this is my first post to the forums. I thank you all in advance for answers. I have an IMAC 24'' 3.06 GHZ 4GB RAM that is displaying some weird characteristics. The first is the lines from left to right that are vertical. The first set is 4 lines then sets of 3. This is happening all across the screen. I have a W8 serial and saw something about defected computers is this true? I have the Applecare extended for 430+ more days and I already had a crash on the HD. Now I am having more problems. The lines worried me the most, but also I am receiving Kernal Panics. I can't even get the computer to load up. I spoke with Applecare over the phone and they referred me to the store. I got sent away twice before they finally got my computer in the store. I have now been to the store three times this week alone. Most importantly is the vertical line issue a permanent issue? I purchased the unit in July of 2008. I hope my unit is not defective. Now they are telling me they are going to replace the Logic Board as well as HD. They said this time it wasn't an HD issue but they are going to replace the HD to placate me since I have been there three times this week. The new HD is 640GB. Original is 500. If the HD is not bad are they truly accomodating me or is it deceptive practices to hide their constant issues with the CPU. I just want to find out why they are causing me to do all of this running around. I have spent over 5 hours on Phone with Applecare. I worry if this computer is going to be a recurring problem. Are the vertical lines symptoms of other issues down the road. My confidence is slowly eroding. I will give the full serial If that helps. Thanks!
    Sincerely,
    Adam('s Apple)

How do I get to Customer Relations?
Just call 1-800-275-2273 and asked to be transferred to ACR. CALMLY explain the situation to them and have all your case numbers ready. If you don't get satisfaction with the first call, call back and talk to another rep. I went through 3 of them one time, but Apple came through in the end to my satisfaction. They will do what it takes to make you happy.

  • Kernal panic (ethernet), USB mouse prob, kb backlight failed

    Hey all:
Sometimes when I remove the ethernet cable from my PB I get a kernal panic message. It has also happened when I move my PB when the ethernet cable is connected, as well as some other times that are just plain random.
Additionally, my wireless mouse that uses a USB port for the receiver/transmitter (not bluetooth) does not register after sleep, only after restart.
Finally, my keyboard backlight feature no longer works, even in a dark room or with the sensors near the speakers covered. I also tried the backlight using a new account and it still did not work.
I've copied the panic.log text from the last three kernal panics below.

Which Symantec/Norton do you have? I've read reports here of the enterprise version of Symantec not causing problems for Macs.
You could temporarily unload the Symantec kext. But not sure if temporary unoading persists through a reboot.
Copy/Paste into Terminal. Hit return, then give your password, which you will not see on the sreeen as you type. Hit return.
    sudo kextunload Symantec.kext.SAVAPComm/
    To reverse
    sudo kextload Symantec.kext.SAVAPComm/
You can do this with all of the kexts you want to test by substituting the names you find in /System/Library/Extensions. Be sure to observe case and spaces EXACTLY, if you do this.

  • My 2011 Imac 27" has been crashing and running very erratically and slowly. The only change has been the update to 10.8.1, I will paste the consol kernal panic report.  Is there a software conflict?

Hi, first time posting on the forum. I own a 2011 IMAC i5 with 12gb of ram 27 inch. Over the last five days the computer has been crashing and running very erratically. When the computer has crashed the entire computer has become unresponsive and frozen, requiring a reboot or two. At other times the computer has slowed way down and the dreaded spinning beachball has appeared and the computer takes its sweet time trying to process something. Iphoto has also crashed independently when the beahball will not disappear. THE entire system is running way below its usual stellar quad performance. I have run a ram test and everything has come back clean, I have fixed any broken permissions, and deleted any newly added software (starcraft2). There is over 250Gb of hard drive free and the activity monitor shows no unusual processes. The computer automatically updated it self recently to 10.8.1 has this caused a conflict with some software? Or is there a deeper problem?
Below are the console reports. There are also reports for unversalaccessd  ,  mdworker, Isregister, loginwindow, iphoto, DMproxy which can be supplied.
    Thanks for any help.

Kaspersky has been giving people issues today, so I would suspect that need to be uninstalled.
You really don't need always on anti-virus, it causes more problems for the nil Mac malware out there.
The free, run as you need it ClamXav is good enough to clean the malware off Windows files that don't affect a Mac and it doesn't bugger up the machine like others do.
Next I would check Parallels for a update or uninstall it until then,
If both of those are uninstalled and still having issues, then run through this list
Step by Step to fix your Mac

  • Random Kernal Panic Report Yoesmite 10.10.2

Question- I too am getting Kernel Panics, I've got third party RAM installed, but never had a problem until last week, the RAM has been in there for almost 6 months. I've got a mix of Apple RAM and Third Party, do they not play well with each other? Did one of my third party slots go bad? There are no red lights indicating such on the boards.. is there a way to check that?
Also just installed my own airport card a little over a month ago, but again, no problems until this past week.
The panics are totally intermittent, no rhyme or reason to them at all.

    Greetings TheNephites221,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are experiencing recurring kernel panics and would like to find the cause of them. The attached article below has a lot of great information about kernel panics and I would suggest reading over the entire article, including the Troubleshooting a recurring kernel panic section specifically.

  • Grey Curtain Kernal Panic (w/log) - need help in deciphering

I read a couple of other threads on this event, which happened for the first time yesterday after waking my MBP from sleep. In both threads requests were made for the log(s), but I didn't see any posted. I have both the kernal panic log and the console entries surrounding the time it happened to mine. Can someone give a look at them and give me an idea whether there's something to look further into, repair, or replace.
Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

    try resetting the SMC
Taking out battery and power adapter, pressing and holding power button for 5 seconds...
..also uninstall any unused third party apps, as well.. do you have any third party RAM installed?

  • Magic Mouse Help

I am trying to reconnect a magic mouse to my iMac, but "set up Bluetooth Mouse" is not an option in the mouse preference pane, and the Bluetooth pane is nowhere to be seen.

Check the right side of the menu bar to see if you have a Bluetooth icon that looks something like this. The actual look may vary slightly depending on the status of Bluetooth.
If you pull down the Bluetooth icon you should have the option to 'Setup a Bluetooth device'. Select that option and it should walk you through the steps to pair with the mouse. If you simply need to reconnect an already paired mouse then you should open up the Bluetooth System Preferences where you should see a list of paired devices along with their status (eg connected or not connected). Clicking on the name of the device and then pulling down the tiny gear next to the +/- signs in the left corner of the Bluetooth preferences window will allow you to connect the paired mouse.
If you don't have the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar then you will need to verify. Pull down the Apple menu and select 'More Info' to bring up the System Profiler report. In the left column labeled Hardware click on Bluetooth If you see a list of informaion about your Bluetooth hardware then that is a good sign. If the window is empty then you should first try rebooting your system. If it still doesn't work then you may need to take it in for service.
Which model iMac do you have? I'm asking because Apple sells an education model iMac that doesn't support Bluetooth.

  • Magic Trackpad help, please

this is kinda driving me buggy, so I thought I'd turn to here for help. I have a Magic trackpad and although it generally works fine, it loses the connection pretty easily. I move it 3 inches to the left or right and ...."connection lost".  It seemed to work better with regular batteries, rather than the rechargeables that are in there now..but not a lot better. I thought Bluetooth was supposed to work up to 10 feet or so with no problem....
any help appreciated--I was told that an external BT dongle would help me, but I haven't been able to find one that's Mac compatible, at least not yet
    so thanks for any help

You are trying to send and receive radio signals from inside a grounded metal can. Try these:

  • Simple focus magic script help please

Dipping my toes for the first time - more code to learn - brain hurting.
I've recorded a very simple script to run a basic sharpening step in focus magic before creating web galleries.   It works except it asks for a decision in focus magic which is a pain running 40-70 pictures through (200 in show jump season).
the desired aim is each photo to be "out of focus" sharpening at 1 pixel @ 100% and what I have is as follows.  I think there may be a yes/no return step I want rid of and I'm hoping sorting this out will be a good first step in learning.  Thanks for any help

The open and close steps you should be able to do using the DOM and not have to use scriptlistener.
For the filter You might want to see if it can be recorded and played back as an action. If so then just calling that action would be an easy way to run the filter. If it can be recorded you may be able ( at least with javascript ) to make the executeAction call with dialogMode set to all and assign the results to a variable. That variable with contain an Action Descriptor. With most filters the setting you used in the filter dialog will be in that descriptor. You just need to pull the descriptor apart to find what the setting are. Or( again using javascript ) xtools has a script that will convert an action into javascript. It is mostly action manager( scriptlistener ) so you should be able to translate the output to VBS.

If not, I would try to update them. If they are, I would move them from your System folder to a folder on your Desktop and reboot without them to see if these kexts may or may not be the cause of your kernel panics.

  • Kernel Panics at Startup. HELP PLEASE!

    Hi,
My recently bought 17 inch, 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac started to show an erratic behavior, At startup it loads great the nice chime and everything, but, as soon as the Apple logo appears the Kernel Panic window pops up. It has appeared in all of the startups.
Yes, SMU, PRAM, both done without success, and I actually booted from the Mac OS X cd and worked. I dont know what happened since its not used by me, I have my MacBook and the iMac is for my sister and my mom, no idea if they did something bad to it (if they did they probably didint know since they are newbies to mac). My guess is I have to re-install the software but they will loose their 5000+ photos so...
This has never happened to me in my several years of joy with mac, so i guess one of you geniuses has the solution to these.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

If your sure that you followed the instructions from the Testing and repairing your startup disk link I gave above.
    1. Start up your computer using another disk.
To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc and restart your computer holding down the Option key, then select the Install Mac OS X disc and click the arrow.
    2. Open Disk Utility.
In the Mac OS X Installer, choose Utilities > Open Disk Utility.
    3. Select the startup disk you want to repair in the list of disks and volumes, then click First Aid.
    4. Click the button to verify or repair the disk or disk permissions.
The ram would be the next thing to check. Slide them gently in untill you feel them stop, then push hard with your thumbs untill you feel them click or seat into place. You will know by the feel when they are seated correctly!
