System stuck on white screen and beeping sounds
Power button turns screen from black to white and computer starts making intermittent beeping sounds. Tried SMU reset, hard reset, disconnecting cables but the problem stays the same. Any other suggestions.
I had a similar problem on my 24" iMac purchased Dec 07. It was OK from a cold boot, but would go to the white screen and 3 beeps on any reboot. If I held down the Option key I could select the only disk and it would boot OK. I tried detaching all external disks - no change, ran HW diagnostics, - showed no problems. Ran disk verify/repair from CD, no errors. System info showed no problems with POST or the DIMMs.
I first re-seated both 1Gb DIMMs - no change.
Swapped the DIMMs into opposite slots - no change.
I removed one, fixed the problem.
I put in the suspect one by itself - problem returned.
This is original RAM that came with the system, trying to get the suspect DIMM replaced now, but system is OK for the moment on 1GB. -
Random Kernel Errors and need to repair disk
After trying to partition for Bootcamp, the computer locked into a Kernel error. I went to validate the disk and discovered that I need to repair the disk. I have tried booting from my OSX installation disk to access the repair disk functionality. I receive a kernel error each and every time I try to boot from disk. Details as follows - please advise.

The DVD however is in no way scratched or dirty. I will run the hardware test and report back.

X200 black screen and beep sound when power module is plugged on and off
Hello,
I have the following problem. Today I turned on my X200 without power module, and when I plugged in power - the screen starts to flicker. This was not before, and I am using my laptop only during a week.
After that I turned on the laptop with power module, it was OK, but when I plug out and plug in power module, computer makes "beep" sound and becomes black for a second. Is that normal behavior?
Thank you!does your battery hold a full charge. is it in good shape. is your machine under warranty. you could try support, but they're probably just gonna tell you to open a service claim. another thing, did it always do this or is this something that just started. did you just download any updates and this started right after. or did it just start doing this for no reason.

HP PROBOOK 4530S KEYBOARD AND BEEPING SOUND ISSUES
Hello guys, I'm in desperate need of your expertise. I promised my friend I'd fix her laptop , she had wireless issues and wanted me to re-install win 7 ultimate x64 on her laptop. Before installing there was no issues with her keyboard or whatsoever. After installing a fresh copy the computer started to exhibit some problems for your information I hadn't even started to install drivers. just turned on the computer and saw that windows key and alt key next to it wasn't working and computer will make stupid beeping sound while loging in to windows like a key's stuck and even eject the dvd drive occasionally. Sometimes it will become unresponsive while bipping, i need to hit random keys to fix it. I've searched forums and all over ppl saying unplug the battery and ac wait some. done that no fix. Uninstall Hp power assistant program it wasn't even installed but i installed it tried and again didn't work then i uninstalled it to see it fixed anything again no fix. there were suggestions about synapse drivers re-installing them etc. still no fix. manually deleteing drivers from computer manager still no fix. I'm so ashamed I took her computer to fix but broke something else instead. please guys I need help asap!
Hi,
Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59291.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52145.exe
When the reinstallation has completed, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' ( or Speakers/HP ) once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

DP-K

Kernel error and forced shutdown
I have an early macbook pro 15" updated to Yosemite. I had kernel errors before the upgrade - as part of the upgrade erased the disk and used Time Machine to restore. There were no problems for sometime, but now the shutdowns from kernel error has started again. They don't seem to happen everyday, but every two days on average.
On Yosemite I did not find the log - but I have the Mac info and the latest panic report and hope that meets the need. Thanks!

Help - Kernel Error and Lost Disks
My Mac told me this a.m. that it needed software updating, so I clicked OK...it went to restart, and I got a Kernel error. Now...I can't find our original disks, which they say we need. We moved a year ago, and I have a terrible feeling they got tossed.
Do I have to buy new disks? Is that even possible? If so, could I buy any software I wanted?Mcubstea:
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Exactly what did the kernel error look like?
Can you copy the kernel log and post it in your response?
You may or may not need install discs, depending on the kernel panic. If you don't mind, please post details of your computer system in your profile. Please include processor speed, display size, RAM installed, HDD capacity, HDD available capacity etc.
Thanks.

Connection error, and clicking sound from remote speakers
Problem:
Remote speakers produce clicking sounds when music is streamed from AirPort. Initially iTunes does not display a connection error, but it displays the following after switching from Base Station to Multiple Speaker mode:
"An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "Base Station". An unknown error occurred (-3256)"
The setup worked yesterday, and the Airport Firmware v6.3 and iTunes 6.0.5.20 are installed. I am able to use AirPort Admin Utility from my laptop to remotely change settings and restart the base station.
Please help.
Thanks. So i tried few more things like disable/enable sound card, driver reinstalation, bitrate changing and everything elese i could find here on forums or on the net (pretty much same stuff like here could be find on internet) and strange thing is that no one have same or similar problem like me... i just don't know anymore what to do...

Computer left on overnight when turned on has a loud fan that keeps getting louder and a long single beep every few seconds that gets gradually louder also
Hi,
Remove the side panel from the case, and look for the heatsink & Cooler for the CPU. Make sure there isn't a wire stuck in the fan and make sure the CPU fan's power cord has not come unplugged from the mobo.
Do you ever get the computer shutting down saying that there is a "Thermal Event" or something similar? -
HP Photosmart D7160 paper jam error and clicking sound
I have a D7160 that has been working great, and yesterday started making a clicking sound when I start it up. It clicks and sort of grinds when I turn it on, and then the screen says there is a paper jam and that I should open the back and remove the paper.
I have never run stickers, labels or other items through the printer. I have only used HP photo paper in it, and occasionally printed on regular copy paper. No thin papers, no paper jams, no stuck or torn paper.
This printer literally sat for about two years at my parent's house unused until they loaned it to me about a month ago. I doubt there have been more than 250 pages put through it total.
My other HP printer broke a lever inside of it, so I have to take the side panel off of it to make it "understand" that the cover is closed. I'm wondering if this is something similar (a broken gear or lever), but I can't figure out where to look or what it might be.
Thanks for any help you can give!
MichelleThis happens periodically. Evenutally it "fixes itself," but I'm not sure what it is. I've cleaned the rollers, the toner heads, printed an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet (which prints fine), reloaded paper, made sure paper was not curled or there wasn't too much in the tray, made sure the side hold bar wasn't too tight, etc. etc. Try disconnecting the printer from both power and the PC. Reboot, then reconnect the printer. Print a test page. Try again.

I have a white macbook not quite sure of OS think 10.4.2, it was bought mid 2006 so not sure if this matches. Am at work so can't check right now.
The last couple of days keep getting the kernel error and sometimes it turns back on straight away, sometimes if remove battery and replace then it works but generally it just keeps repeating the same error.
I have never added any RAM or anything, the only thing i can think is someone downloaded TVUplayer onto my mac the other day so it came up on the desktop .exe and then couldn't be opened obviously and was put in the trashcan.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank youHome from work the computer is Mac OSX 10.4.11 1.83 GHz intel 512 MB 667MHz
Took many attempts to turn on computer with kernel panic message coming on over and over again, finally am on this computer. No panic logs as it happens as it is starting up, please can someone explain what is happening.
Many Thanks -
IDS Sensor 4215 not booting..Halts after kernel error..
Hi all...
I have a cisco 4215 IDS sensor. After booting it gives a "Kernel Error" and halts.. Is there any way by which i can recover it or bring it back to normal state.Urgent...I'm not sure what state your 4215 was in prior to the failure, or at what point in the boot process you are getting the kernel error. You can perform a complete system re-image using either the 4.1(4) or the 5.1(2) system image available on CCO. This will overwrite all configuration settings as well, so you will need to reconfigure the appliance afterwards. Instructions for using the system images can be found in the associated readme files.
Another option is to manually recover the appliance using the Recovery Partition if you get to that point (GRUB boot menu) in the boot process. This option will maintain some, but not all, of your network settings. If you get to the menu, select the second option to recover the system. It will reboot several times while imaging, and should stop at the login prompt when it is finished.
Let me know if you are still having problems after trying one of these recovery methods.

Kernel Panics and other errors
Ok here's the deal. I was having a lot of problems with my MacBook Pro and reinstalling Leopard did nothing to help, so I took it to the Apple store near me and checked it in. A couple of weeks later I got it back with a new logic board, new hard drive, and new hard drive cable. Since then I've been having kernel panics every now and then. The only time it happens regularly is when I try to do a directory repair with DiskWarrior on my external Firewire drive running 10.5.3.
The FW drive's panic log refers to a simple lock deadlock detection caused by com.alsoft.Preview. A Safe Boot fixes the issue, which would point to a conflicting kext or login item or something like that. What I can't figure out is why it worked perfectly before my laptop was repaired, and now consistently causes a kernel panic whenever I run it. Nothing on the external drive has changed since then, so I'd have to assume the hardware change would be the problem. But then why would a Safe Boot solve the problem? Maybe a driver or something that isn't being loaded in Safe Mode but normally is encountering an error due to bad hardware?
I also have two other panic logs from my internal hard drive. The first is a kernel trap, also caused by com.alsoft.Preview. I'm not sure why it was stored on the internal hard drive's Logs folder since I only run DiskWarrior from my FW drive (it's not even installed on the internal drive), but I digress. The other panic was caused by an "IOGMD: not wired for the IODMACommand" error. Apparently the error had to do with a few USB-related drivers and IOKits, namely IOUSBMassStorageClass, AppleUSBEHCI, and IOUSBFamily. I've been having some weird issues with my USB flash drive lately, mostly file transfers going incredibly slow (like 300 KB/sec slow). I haven't been having these issues on any other computer, and I've even verified the flash drive with Disk Utility, so I would have to say the problem is with the Mac and not the drive itself.
Now for the other errors. I've been getting Disk Too Slow errors in GarageBand when recording guitar tracks (which I've never gotten before), and there's a lot of background noise when recording that wasn't there before the repair. Before I could connect the audio output on the amp to the line in on my laptop using a 1/4" to 3.5 mm cable, and everything sounded pretty clean. Now the sound is distorted and there's a lot of static during silence. The only way to get it sound somewhat decent is to play around with the gate and compression settings.
I'm also having occasional issues ejecting drives and virtual drives, Spotlight tries to index drives that are added to the exception list in System Preferences, and weird random errors showing up in Console related to Finder, Dock, certain apps, and fseventd (the fseventd errors are usually about my flash drive). I'm leaning toward a bad logic board, even though that was just replaced. I just did an Erase and Install a few weeks ago so I doubt it's software-related. Plus I've been having issues with it in one form or another since I got it back, which also makes me think it's not the OS.
Anyway, I'm just looking for opinions at this point. I'm going to take it back to the Apple store in a few days because of a small group of dead pixels, so as long as I'm down there I'll ask them. In the meantime, anyone have any thoughts?https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=138105
