Kernel errors with Logitech keyboard

Hello,
I have a core2duo iMac running 10.5 like a breeze. I have one problem though: my console log prints 4 lines of errors for each key i press. As you can understand, this is filling up the logs quite a bit. For every key i press, i get this:
5/21/08 7:39:03 PM kernel final dcConfig = 0
5/21/08 7:39:03 PM kernel returning 0
5/21/08 7:39:04 PM kernel final dcConfig = 0
5/21/08 7:39:04 PM kernel returning 0
This site and Google both dont give me any result, there isn't even a mention of something called dcConfig associated with OSX. I'm open to any suggestion at this point: maybe some keylogger running and being broken? Several scanning apps couldn't find anything, but I cant be sure my system is 'clean'.
The keyboard is a simple Logitech UltraX USB keyboard connected through a cheap noname usb hub. Bypassing the hub, the problem remains, so that isn't the problem.
Anyone have a clue?

The easy answer is that you probably don't have the proper drivers for your keyboard installed. The problem is that Logitech seems to have left Mac's out of their driver list for that model.
Logitech has many mice and other products that do not work well with Mac's. The more complicated or custom the device, the less of a chance for satisfaction.
Connect an Apple or a generic keyboard to your mac and see if the problem continues after a restarting with the Ultra keyboard disconnected. If the problem goes away then you'll probably have to work with Logitech for support.
The good news is that due to recent popularity changes, more software and hardware companies are taking a new look at their Mac product lines

  • Error with Console Keyboard

Has anyone ever received the error 'Error with Console Keyboard' when installing Solaris 8?
Before Solaris prompts me to select my language I get the
error 'Error with Console Keyboard'. When Solaris prompts me for the
language I cannot select it since my keyboard no longer seems to be
    working.
I have no problems with my keyboard before this step.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly!I have the same problem when I try to install Solaris 8 on Dell CPi laptop. who else can help us? please!

  • "Error with console keyboard" in Solaris 8

    Hello,
At the very beginning of Solaris8 boot I get
    "Error with console keyboard"
and later OS does not react to keyboard. This non-USB keyboard.
This keyboard does work ok in PROM monitor on same
computer and this keyboard works ok with other sun box.
So this keyboard is physically OK.
    When I do 'kbd -t', I get:
    ioctl(kbd type): Invalid argument
What's wrong ? Can I configure the keyboard driver manually ?

  • Two keys swapped with Logitech keyboard

    Hi,
I am using a Logitech PC keyboard (dinovo). It works fine except for the fact that the keys for °^ and >< are swapped. This was the way with earlier versions of Mac OS and I recently read a review of a new logitech keyboard in a computer magazine and they mentioned the same problem.
Is there a way to fix this? All other external keyboards work fine. I also have a USB PC keyboard. No problem.
It would be great if there was a solution.
    Thanks!

Yeah, because the Logitech one is a kernel extension and a preference pane, so it cannot run under Rosetta. Logitech's site does say that they are working on an Intel version, but it'll probably be a while before it sees the light of day.

  • Mac Mini HD errors with bluetooth keyboard

I have a Mac Mini with bluetooth keyboard.  I cannot boot to OSX Recovery (command R).  Yet I need Disk Utility to repair HD errors.

I found this link searching Apple Mac Mini Support: Apple Wireless Keyboards: Using startup keys.  Tried this and it worked on the second try.  Worked using Restart in the middle of the startup chime sound, not Shutdown.

  • Error with backlit keyboard

    Hi guys.
I recently have some problems with my Macbook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
The keyboard light is turned off and I can't adjust the light brightness of this because F5 & F6 doesn't work.
I go to System Preferences> Keyboard and I can't find any option about illuminated keyboard, just disappeared of my mac.
I recently installed Lab Trick to see if I can manually use the light settings on the keyboard, but it shows me the following error "Your Macintosh does not seem to have any available backlit keyboard."
I tried resetting SMC, PRAM. But the problem continues.
I haven't opened the mac yet.
There will be some sensor cable disconnected?
Will be necessary to carry warranty?

    Hi,
I have the same Macbook Pro as you, and here is a picture of my Keyboard settings.
I don't know why the bottom part of yours is blank. Maybe you can try this. Check the box for Use all F1, F2, etc. and then use the fn key on your keyboard together with F6 to see if it will bring up the brightness.
Has your System Prefs Keyboard settings always been like this?

  • Audio Error with Logitech Clearchat Headset (USB)

After doing the monthly recommended battery recharging overnight, I had upon startup with my Logitech USB Clear Chat headset plugged in an audio error--a grayed-out apple icon in a gray box in the center of the screen, and a recurring beep-beep-beep which defaulted to the internal speaker when I detached the headset. With this icon and sound I had no way to change audio settings--it kept popping back to maximum. I rebooted without the headset and had the same problem, but the noise AND recognition of audio devices (even internal) disappeared with a safe start-up. I could reboot normally and had audio with internal hardware fine, but the beep-beep and icon pop up again if I put in the headset. Running the diagnostic utility discovered no problems with the machine, and the headset works fine on my PC (and was fine on my Macbook until today).
    Thanks for you help!

' orangehat I sincerely hope you (we?) get an answer on this one! I ordered exactly the same headset the same time I did my 17-inch MBP. Still waiting for everything to be delivered - so can't say as yet whether I have the problem too. Hoping not.
' Hoping there's an answer to your question anyways so I can get an idea of things before my kit lands (IF that EVER actually HAPPENS!!!)

  • Kernel Errors!!!

Hi All I have a 15" PB Aluminum 1.5ghz with 1GB of ram. Just bought off a friend and when I did a fresh erase and install of OS X 10.4, repaired permissions and rebooted I get the kernel error telling me to hold down the power button and restart. So I did this and when it restarts I get the grey apple background with a load of writing all over it. How do I try and figure out what is causing the problem. Is there a way to get into the system to access the log files as I cannot get OS X to boot into the system. I also ran tech tool pro from the DVD and that says everything has passed such as processor, memory etc....
    Help Please

I don't think it's OS X (10.4.11) that's causing the problem as I did erase and install about 3 times, verified the HDD and repaired permissions and no errors.
That should take care of any directory errors. For now we can consider the directory to be in order.
Also the HDD is new so I am guessing it's not that either as the previous owner had kernel errors with the old HDD.
Well, that does not necessarily eliminate the problem. It may be that the issue which the previous owner had was not necessarily the HDD itself. Could be a faulty ATA ribbon cable, or even the ATA Controller on the logic board. If you have a firewire HDD available you could install the OS on it and try booting from it. Indeed, you can pull the HDD, install it in a Firewire Enclosure connect it to the computer via Firewire and see if the problem persists.
the Airport Extreme is factory installed and I have nothing external attached and no applications installed at all yet.
The AE card can become loosened in the socket either from internal heat of the computer, or maybe jostled when the HDD was being replaced, or it may be failing. Pulling it out, cleaning the contacts and reseating it securely may or may not make a difference.
I can only begin to guess that it is the RAM as the original RAM has been removed and replaced with a new 1GB stick (Not Crucial RAM by the way).
That is definitely a possibility, but not a certainty. If you can get ahold of the original RAM and install it just for testing, it should help determine whether the RAM currently installed is the issue.

  • MacBook Pro crashes with kernel errors

Hi, i'm havinge troubles with my 2009. macbook pro. It keeps crashing down with kernel errors.
I took it to apple, payed for a repair and they didn't fix it. Now i don't know what to do. I recently noticed that my right fan isnt working.
I'm leaving you with one of my error reports if you know how to read them.
Btw, hardware test simple and extended one reports ok. Disk warrior also. Could it be the temperature? Last time it crashet it was at about 76 celsius...crashes are not time reliable, sometimes i just turn it on and it crashes while loading os (its not yet hot), sometimes it can work for an hour or two then die again...

If it's overheating then that's the thermal cut out protecting the system - don't you hear the fan's going at maximum ?  Are you using it on a flat hard surface so there's room for air to circulate ?
If you can't hear the fans running fast then I suggest you run the hardware tests from your install DVD (insert and reboot holding down d) to see if it shows any SNS (sensor) or MTR (fan motor) errors, if so get it to Apple for a fix.

  • Logitech Keyboard with MBP

I have the Logitech Cordless Duo MX, which I am using with my MacBook Pro. I used to use the Logitech Control Center, but it is not yet Unversal. My problem is that I want to do two things:
    1. I want to swap the option and command keys (which the Logitech software usually does). Note that I cannot do this with the keyboard preference pane because I don't want to swap them on the MBP builtin keyboard.
    2. I'd like to get the media keys on the keyboard working.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah, because the Logitech one is a kernel extension and a preference pane, so it cannot run under Rosetta. Logitech's site does say that they are working on an Intel version, but it'll probably be a while before it sees the light of day.

  • Error- bootr unkwown word, imac 266 HELP! Logitech keyboard

I was trying to upgrade my daughters imac, an old 266, with 224 ram (I think, I upgraded the ram a while ago) I tried installing osX (it had 8.5) and it seemed like it worked for that day, when I shut it down and tried to turn it on the next day it gave me the following error code: bootr unknown word, failed to boot, apple imac open, firmware 3 0 f3, .... it continues. I tried to start it up with its original startup disk, it doesnt do anything, I hold down the c key it only gives me the white screen with the error code. I have a Logitech keyboard because it was the cheapest I could find at the time I was on a budget. The keyboard is different, I think. I dont think I can reset the pram since the keyboard is different. What can I do? Please give me some suggestions.
    Thanks

Somehow you posted in the wrong forum. This area is for OS 9.x users. You will need to re post your question in the iMac (CRT) Forums where the iMac (CRT) users hang out can see your question & help you.

Prior to installing OS X on an iMac you must "FIRST" update your firmware.

Your profile says that you're using OS X (10.0.x). That was a beta (experimental) version of OS X.
With your late model iMac, I would recommend that you either upgrade to Jaguar or Panther (if you insist on using the Cat Systems) or go back to OS 9.1 or 9.2.2. & make sure you max out your RAM.

  • Kernel error on startup after trying to backup with Time Machine

    Hi there,
So last night I was using time machine to back up my macbook hard drive to my external hard drive. As this was happening, my machine was slowing down and such which I attributed it to having a couple of programs running at the same time as backing up. A little bit into this, I got the spinning pinwheel that would not stop or go away so I decided to let it go all night because maybe it would go away as usual. This morning it was still spinning so I shut down the computer. I didn't know if Time machine had finished or not. I tried restarting it an I got a kernel error. I tried to reset the PRAM and the NVRAM but I still got Kernel errors. I would try to do an archive and install of Leopard, but I left my disc in my dorm and I won't be able to get to it until next month. I do however have my Tiger start up disc that came with the MacBook when I first got it. Now I was thinking of doing an archive and install downgrade to Tiger just until I could reinstall Leopard next month. I don't know if that would be a good idea or not. I just want to make sure my data is ok by hopefully reinstalling Tiger to copy my data to my external HD. Is there a way to do this and not mess anything up? I don't think it's my hard drive because I already replaced it once to a non-Apple hard drive. Is there anything I haven't tried yet or should try again to try and get things going again?
    Thanks so much.

This means that your NAS does not support the required encryption. Update your NAS to the latest firmware or ditch it and buy a Time Capsule (they are the most reliable when using TM).
