Kernel Panic... And it has me in panic!! Please help.
Hi there. I am hoping someone has dealt with this and can help. From what I can tell my computer (Imac G5) is having Kernel Panic, it displays the "you need to restart your computer" in many languages when I try to start it up.
I have tried to turn off my login items, reinstall the mac os X, have done the disk utility, done the Apple hardware test, put the reinstall disc in and held down C key, restarted while holding down the keys for PRAM and everything has not worked. Finally I took it to Mac Genius bar and he ran the test and everything seemed to pass, he erased the drive and reinstalled the operating system and his comment was "This *****". He said that it could be harddrive, logic board or power supply. It starts up fine in Safe Mode and is fine.
Has anyone had this happen, could it be the logic board? I heard that can be $800 and am trying to find out if that is the cause. Thank you so much to anyone that can provide any guidance!!!
After going down a checklist of things and reinstalling OS and erasing everything on my computer and running hardware tests and taking it to the Mac bar and everything else. I finally broke down and took it to a third party Mac repair shop. It was $75 to have it looked at. I got the call today expecting it to be $800 to repair and to my surprise it was only going to be $75... and why was that... because the airport card was loose!!! That was it. I am relieved that that was all it was, but I went through a week worth of worry and completely erasing my computer to find that out. I would hope the Mac genius' would look at this and take it into consideration in the future when looking at someones computer. Thanks for the help Barry and MGW

My iphone 5 is no longer charging with a new apple cord and lint has been cleared. Please help. It just started happening this week and I have tried everything. Is this a software / driver problem? We all know the battery doesn't last a full day if you "use" your phone like a normal person. I am very frustrated! My daughters iphone 5 started doing this a few days later than mine as well.
Not much help I'm afraid but I use my iPhone 5 like a 'normal' person and it's battery almost all day. Perhaps there's a hardware fault somewhere? Have you tried the usual reset and restore?

Constant Kernel Panics- Please help!
Hi,
I am currently running Mountaint Lion 10.8.5 (haven't updated to mavericks quite yet) on a 2.53 GHz Intel core 2 duo Macbook Pro. I'm not sure of the year it was made but if that's really important I can look up the serial. Anyways, this thing is making me crazy. Kernel Panics ("your computer shut down because of a problem") have become an extraordinarily common part of my life. The more demanding the task (LOW resolution games would be the most demanding), the more frequent the Panics. Sometimes it even happens when I'm just browsing or watching netflix. Usually before the kernel panic occurs the computer has heated up quite a bit and the fan starts wurring like an engine. I do consistently use my laptop on my bed; I heard that may be affecting the airflow to the vents. But I assure you the Panics occur on flat surfaces as well. I bought this machine used so I don't know it's full history, but under my care, it has taken no spills, drops, or damages otherwise. I have tried many things to help: Repairing my hard drive with Disk Utility, resetting my PRAM, cleaning things up with MacKeeper, even global virus scans that come up clean. I don't claim to be any kind of expert, but I have tried all the tools at the disposal of my knowledge and I am really starting to get frustrated.
My last OS update was recent; far after panics started to be a problem.
I pray to god this is not a hardware issue.
Any help would be of the highest appreciation

PS I don't know if anyone could help with this, but my machine also runs unbelievably slow considering it has 8 whopping Gigabytes of RAM.Aaron is a boy,
you can replace your two 4 GB 1333 MHz memory modules with two 4 GB 1066 MHz memory modules, so that you can continue to have a total of 8 GB of RAM installed. Having the proper speed RAM installed in your MacBook Pro will make a world of difference compared to its current performance. The little white booklet that originally came in the box with your MacBook Pro shows how to replace the memory modules, if you’re comfortable with performing minor upgrades; the important thing is to discharge any static electricity on you by touching something metallic before handling the memory modules or touching anything inside of your MacBook Pro. If you’d be more comfortable with someone else doing the memory module installation, then any competent computer shop would be able to do it. -
Kernel Panic - Please Help!
Hi all,
I am having a problem with my Late 2009 27" iMac Intel Core i7. I am currently running the latest updated version of Lion (10.7.1).
I have been having Kernel Panic problems for a while and, having searched through various forums, have been unable to fix the problem.
Around 4 months ago my wife had our first Kernel Panic which instructed that our iMac should be powered off by pressing the button. This was whilst using Snow Leopard. I was working away at the time for a few months so did not know what might have caused it. This has been happening every now and then since this occassion. A couple of days ago I had a kernel panic which wasn't resolved by restarting the computer, which I did several times. I completely reinstalled Lion which seemed to temporarily fix it, but I have just had another Kernel Panic and would be very grateful for any advice.
I purchased my iMac new around 6 months ago, so the first issue happened just a couple of months after buying it. It has 2 x 2 GB RAM installed. I have not installed any of my own, I haven't even opened the cover! There seems to be no program or event that sets it off. My kernel panic occurred today when I was not even at my computer and therefore was not opening or closing any applications.
I have recently installed Lion on my system. I noticed initially that this caused problems with Wi Fi as it told me that no hardware was installed. After reinstalling Lion after several KP’s (I also completely erased my hard drive to try to isolate the problem), Wi Fi appeared to be working again. After today’s KP I am again being told that no Wi Fi hardware is installed. Having just re-started the system, I received another KP and was given the following information:
Sorry for quality, the old 3GS never did have a great camera! From this message, it appears to my untrained mind that I am having a problem with AirPort. I know what you're thinking. I should search through the discussions because you are quite right, I am not alone in this problem. Indeed the thread at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3194446?start=45&tstart=0 suggests what looks like the same issue. One person (Dani31) replaced the file IO80211Family.kext by that of Snow Leopard to fix it.
My main problem is that I have no idea what this solution means or how to implement it! I'm afraid I'm a complete novice when it comes to all things 'Terminal' related so am hoping that someone might take pity on me and walk me through a solution!
I use Ethernet to connect to the internet and the only wireless feature I use is to share with my MacBook Air, a feature I would happily give up if it meant fixing the problem. If somehow disabling Airport was the best solution to a stable system then I am happy to do it.
All advice gratefully received,

anyone knows what's wrong with this?? thanksHello there. I have done a little research and everything I have found points to a bad memory module. I would try booting from the install CD and running a complete hardware test and checking those results. If everything passes, and you feel comfortable, remove one of your RAM sticks and reboot the computer. See if you get a panic then. If so, swap the sticks and reboot with the other. If you don't get a panic, then you most definitely have a bad piece of memory. In that case, call AppleCare and they'll send you another. But if all this seems too much trouble, you could always take your computer to an Apple Store and let them do it for you, or call Apple Care and have a chat with them.
Hope you get the problem figured out. I know it stinks! -
Kernel panic-please help me decipher crash report
I recently experienced a kernel panic on my MacBook Pro (OS X version 10.9.5). Can anybody help me decipher what caused it and whether there's anything I could do to prevent future occurrences? Thanks in advance.

com.apple.kec.pthread 1Hi Eric,
Thank you for your reply. In the meanwhile, I did some research on kernel panics, and I figured the VirtualBox kernel extensions would be the obvious suspects. I find it odd, though, given that I wasn't running the VirtualBox app itself. To be sure, I just upgraded VirtualBox.
At any rate, let me explain in a little bit more detail the circumstances of the panic. I had had a Wolfram Mathematica notebook open for quite some time. The crash itself happened while I was browsing a pdf document in Google Chrome. After the panic, OS X automatically restarted and it could restore all windows and apps that were open before the panic, but something weird was happening: both Finder was unresponsive and I didn't have WiFi connection. I also noticed that Mathematica had 7 or 8 grayed-out, unresponsive windows open with the “hourglass” icon superimposed on each of them (not the beach ball, but the icon you usually see under the Apple logo upon startup), instead of the 2 and 3 windows Mathematica had open before the crash (notebook, message panel, and a toolbar). Once I force-quit Mathematica, Finder immediately became responsive again and the WiFi connection resumed.
Based on this weird experience, I have three—admittedly non-expert—hypotheses about what caused the panic:
1. Mathematica exhibited some idiosyncratic, one-time behavior that somehow caused a systemic failure. Perhaps some pathological interaction with the VirtualBox extensions?
2. RAM problems: five months ago, I upgraded the manufacturer-provided 2x2 GB RAM slots to 2x4 GB RAM slots I bought on Amazon (the model had very good reviews) after double-checking it would work with my MBP. Up until today the new RAM seemed to be working properly.
3. Other hardware problems: my MBP is not young (it's an early 2011 model that I bought more than 3.5 years ago), and there may be some mysterious HDD or other hardware failure that began to take its toll.
Given that I had never had kernel panics before and the horror stories I read about their frequent recurrences once they start, it would be very helpful for me to know what was the likely explanation for this panic and what steps I can make to prevent future occurrences. Do you think the description above points to a more definitive cause?
Thank you very much for your advice. -
my 3gs has no service after updating from ios 5 tried resetting network settings, resetting all settings and restoring from back up on itunes.
telus cant find any network problems and apple is difficult to deal with.please help 3 weeks with no phone and $70 a month not happy.I have been having a similar problem for the last few days.Without warning the signal will just completely duck out leaving the device searching for several minutes before settling on a no signal message.
Sometimes restarting the device, toggling data and 3g settings or toggling Airplane Mode will set things right. However, a lot of the time I've been left without a working phone.
I don't believe this is a SIM issue, as I had to change my SIM only one month ago for another signal related problem. Again any help would be appreciated here as well. -

What to do if you've lost your iPod Touch, and it has a Passcode? Please help!
I need some major help!
My iPod Touch has been misplaced by me. It has a passcode. I have it set to where it automatically asks to connect to Wi-Fi when around the Wi-Fi, but since it has a passcode lock, I doubt that will happen in the lock screen. I put it into lost mode on Find my iPod/iPhone, but it's pending and must connect to Wi-Fi to begin anything I remotely do.
Can anybody help me out?- The FindMyPhone app only allows you to locate one iOS device using another iOS device.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod (Settings>iCloud) and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and and go to FIndMyiPhone. You can also wipe the device, and have it play a sound .If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- Apple will do nothing

My husband's iphone can't connect to the app store after updated his phone to ios.7. and has internet connection.
Any update will cause problems for a few users. And those users will rush here and post "the sky is falling" stories about their experience. The 99.99% of people who have no problems after an update won't bother to post here; indeed, most of them don't even know ASC exists. FWIW, I had no problems with iOS 7 on my 4S. Your problem is most likely not related to iOS 6, but you should probably update anyway. For addressing the battery issue see this outstanding article: http://www.overthought.org/blog/2014/the-ultimate-guide-to-solving-ios-battery-d rain

installed Yosemite and now my MacBook pro won't start up. Keeps showing "kernel panic"
PLEASE HELP ME!If you can't start up and log in in the usual way, try in safe mode.
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Log in as an administrator to carry out these instructions. If you have only one account, you are the administrator.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode.
If you're able to log in, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report. -

I have windows 7 and every time I try to play or add a song. It says itunes has stopped working. Please help this is frustrating.
a further message box states that Data Execution Prevention has closed the program.
Try updating your QuickTime to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes? -
I'm in trouble, my iPod Touch is giving 4th shock when recharge and the battery does not last any more. who knows or has a similar problem, please help me. Note: all this after I downloaded the new version OS5.
I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store because of the shock issue. I doubt it was caused by the update.
