As an additional note I went 156 days without a panic prior to the most recent panics.
You shouldn't have them at all. I don't see anything in the 2 panic reports implicating Safari?
Disconnect all peripherals, only Apple keyboard and mouse and test. Often connected peripherals cause kernel panics. See isolating issues in Mac OS X. for troubleshooting steps.
EDIT: Run your Repair Disk from your install disk.

Re: I recently re-installed Lion due to a kernel panic prob. A day after reinstallation, twice in a row it happened, but it stopped.
I want to know if this happened just because it was recently installed, or is the kernel panic still bugging my computer? The kernel panics were 3rd party extensions. If the extension is still connected to me, how do I remove it? Again, It only happened twice since reinstallation. The panic did not have a thing to do with reinstalling Lion or not. There is some other cause. Post your recent panic log.

A new round of Junk Mail after installing Safari Beta 3.0
In the days since installing and religiously using Safari 3.0 beta on my MacBook Pro with 10.4.9, I am seeing a huge increase in Mail being sent to the Junk folder via Automatic Junk mail filtering. I have not changed any Mail settings. This is mail from sites that I get mail from all the time without it going to Junk Mail Folder. So something has changed, drastically.
I do have the mail Junk filter set to trust my ISP Junk Mail headings (Earthlink). I will turn it off and see if that changes anything. Perhaps Earthlink is doing something new.
But if not Earthlink, I can only wonder if anything changed due to Safari 3.0 install.
Anyone else having this type of new problem?
MacBook Pro 15 inch Mac OS X (10.4.9)I've had exactly the same problem with junk mail after installing Safari 3. No other recent changes.
So far, retraining on received e-mails does not seem to be taking; good e-mails keep going into junk folder.

Getting Kernel Panics when touching left side after hdd install
I recently was given a Powerbook G4 12" 1.33ghz by a friend of mine. It had been working perfectly for her for years until her hdd died. She had it swapped by an electronics store(don't remember which one). Ever since then if you press on the left side of the palm pad(above hdd) it will give a kernel panic. This would require a reboot and seemed to work fine after that, with a light hand... Anway, recently it started to start acting strange in another way: sometimes after the kernel panic reboot it will "chime", but the display will not work. It's like it is running, but no screen. It doesn't seem to be the backlight, as you cannot see anything on the screen at all, even in direct light. It seems like a PMU problem almost, and if you remove the battery for a while and run it only off the power cord you can get it to start up normally. Any ideas?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Dr. Smoke's FAQ Resolving Kernel Panics has suggestions for troubleshooting KPs. In your case it seems pretty obviously hardware based. If you are able to locate the latest crash log please post it with your response, as this may be helpful in locating the cause. In addition, how long ago was the HDD replaced? Have you contacted the shop that did the replacement about what is happening?

Repeated panics in com.apple.ATIRadeonX2000, after installing Snow Leopard
Hi,
now for the 4th time around, I got a kernel panic with backtraces pointing to the com.apple.ATIRadeonX2000 driver. The previous 4 times it crashed while beeing fully idle, today it crashed while I was using the box.
The box in this case is a Mac Pro (Early 2008), with 2 ATI Radeon HD2600XT cards driving 3 displays. Everything is running on a powerfull UPS.
In early April I reinstalled the box on a SSD drive, and at the same time I upgradeded from 10.5 to 10.6 (Snow Leopard). About two-three weeks later (12th Apr) the first crash came, and then about a month later (20th May) again. Then 16th June, and now today, 27th June..
Here is each panic:

As mentioned, the only change introduced to the system is the SSD, and Snow Leopard instead of old Leopard. Before the change, I've never seen this crash a single time. A few panics maybe, but nothing related to this. I don't think blaming the SSD would be fair, if that would be the case much more random traces would be expected.
I'd say that this is a bad bug in the com.apple.ATIRadeonX2000 module.
Apple, any fixes for this? Update for SL or will it be addressed in Lion?
Anyone else seen similar crashes in this scenario? Thanks Tom but the original post title was "Work in DTP, don't install snow leopard", but of course apple were unhappy with the title. I know the issue/problem has been discussed for months, the real problem is that it shouldn't be a problem which everyone has to find work arounds for.
After 4 days of playing about, I've finally got flash CS4 working and Quarkxpress was also a big problem for a few months. Printer description (PPD) files which snow leopard doesn't like, but worked in tiger & leopard.....means I can't use my two A3 inkjets for proofing anymore.
I'm just disappointed by snow leopard -
Kernel Panic on Startup before and after Restore
Hi,
I'm on a MacBook Pro Aluminum, 3GB Ram, 320 GB HD partitioned to 160 for each OS, Leopard and Vista.
Ironically - Vista is my stable on here, so for the time being, 'Hi I'm a PC.'
A few days ago, I got a startup error where after the startup noise, the computer would just turn off. I could not, for the life of me, get it to start up on my Mac side.
So I figure, restore from Time Machine. Strangely enough, the latest full backup was over a month ago, though I had just backed up a few days ago.
So I restore from backup. Then I get a similar but different error. After the restore, it gives me the multi-language kernel error, 'You need to restart your computer...etc.' This occurs right after the Apple logo appears on the screen.
This makes me think - hardware error. Reset PRAM - no dice.
So I try a fresh install just to check. Works great installing from CD. What's more, my Vista partition is running fine. Unfortunately - I have stored all my data on the mac side and now the only place that data lives is in the time machine backups.
I tried again to restores from an earlier backup. Same kernel panic.
So I've kind of eliminated hardware conflicts, I think, but the software should be an image of my computer at that time, right?
Even if I have to do a full reinstall, I desperately need to get some of my recent files off my Time Machine backup. Can anyone explain how to do this? I can't seem to find the files on my Time Machine HD. On it are a recently written chapter of my thesis and all my wedding invitation addresses that we compiled for months and need to get out this week. ACK!
Thanks for any help. Just getting the files would help, but restoring would be a big plus. It's such a weird error. What's the point of backing up if th ebackup has the same error.
Thanks.
-eric+*So I've kind of eliminated hardware conflicts, I think*+
Run the Apple Hardware Test program that came with your machine, the extended tests, at least twice. If everything passes, then run Rember as a second check on your RAM. As for the TM anomalies, I can't help, since I don't use it, preferring updated, bootable clones.

Tutorial: Avoiding and eliminating Kernel panics -
Here is the short version. I bought an older orignial Macbook Air Model A1237. The hinges had been damaged, and the screen would not display correctly - it had lines all across it and you could not see what you were doing. Anyway - I replaced the screen, hard drive, logic board, upper case, pretty much everything in sucession in an effort to get the MBA up and running again and get rid of the kernel panic I keep getting, all Apple replacement OEM parts. I bought a replacement screen - making sure I checked compatibility etc.. but when it started up I felt great perfect view - all was good - then it kernel paniced. I finally figured out that if I turned up the backlight manually all the way to max or if the ambient sensor made the backlight go to max - these were the only time I get a panic. Otherwise it runs perfeclty. The odd thing is I bought the original MBA disc that would have came with the MBA brand new - and if I wipe the hard drive and install leopard 10.5.2 from the dics and do not update anything - it works 100% perfectly no kernel panic at all. If I updgrade beyond the 10.5.2 I get the panic back. So that tells me its not the hardware, and I have confirmed the hardware and firmware are all up to date, as I was hoping it would be that easy a fix of updating the firmware. I have tried everything - googled everything - I am at the end of my rope on this one - please help.
In addition to all the repair work - i have tried test user, upgrading to snow leopard and lion, taking to the apple store, everything I can do , with no solid answer - the apple store told me it was hardware. But if it was then 10.5.2 should generate the panic as well. There are lots of articles and posts on other forums on this very issue - usually surrounding having the MBA display repaired and then they started getting the panics thereafter - but no one has ever recieved an answer either at all, or that works.
Here is the KP log below - please let me know your thoughts - id like to upgrade to lion to get the most out of the MBA - any help is appreciated - - - - - heres the log - - - - ( the reason the BSD states at loginwindow is the ambient sensor at that time kicks in and creates the panic ):

com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily 2.6So I found a post on a random forum that offered a fix that I have tried and it worked. Background: I had a cracked LCD screen on a A1237, and I replaced a new screen and a battery. I started getting kernel panics when the brightness went to the highest level. Anyways, what you do is you need to get this file from a apple os x 10.5:
/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext
then:
Install the .kext file you just grabbed by dragging it into Kext Utility (which can be downloaded here: http://cvad-mac.narod.ru/index/0-4)
then:
Shut down the machine. Reset SMC and PRAM (SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964, PRAM:http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379)
and the problem is fixed. If you google a bit, you can find an os x 10.5.2 AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext file at to use.
The original fix I found was posted here:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=880800
Edit:
Just to clarify, my mac book air is running snow leopard 10.6.8, and I inserted the file from a 10.5.2. The fix completely eliminated the problem, now I can turn the brightness to max without the kernel panic. -
I have a brand new Mac Mini, the quad-core i7 model, running 10.8.2, and have been seeing several kernel panics already.... They all seem to happen during heavy use (building a large software package) of an external USB 3.0 SSD disk (LaCie P'9223 Slim, 128 GB, Mac OS Extended (Journaled)).
What happens is that the software build going on hangs, although using control-c and/or control-z and kill works. Looking in system.log I see several lines like:
Jan 1 22:13:51 sniff kernel[0]: vtd[0] fault: device 0:20:0 reason 0x5 W:0x64c000
Jan 1 22:13:51 sniff kernel[0]: vtd[0] fault: device 0:20:0 reason 0x5 W:0x64d000
Jan 1 22:13:51 sniff kernel[0]: vtd[0] fault: device 0:20:0 reason 0x5 W:0x64e000
The W fields varies, the others are the same. How can one interpret them?
and then after a short while there is a kernel panic like this:
panic(cpu 4 caller 0xffffff8009c525d7): "complete() while dma active"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-2050.20.9/iokit/Kernel/IOMemoryDescriptor.cpp:2552

I have had no 3rd-party kexts in use except the com.bresink.driver.BRESINKx86Monitoring (for Temperature Monitor), but I will try now without that and see if the crash goes away.
Oh, and another thing, I enabled Jumbo Frames for the wired Ethernet, but this problem does not happen during any heavy use of the net as far as I know.

Kernel panics waking from deep sleep after SSD upgrade
Hi
Kernel panics every time a 15-inch mid 2012 MacBook Pro 9,1* wakes from deep sleep** following upgrade from original HDD to an SSD***. The first SSD was replaced under warranty and the issue is still occuring. The extended Apple Hardware Test reports no issues. Following physical installation of the SSD, it was formatted—one Mac OS Extended (journaled) partition—and Yosemite (10.10.1) installed from a USB using the only-slightly-less-easy-way instructions from arstechnica. The original RAM was upgraded about a year ago with Crucial 2x8GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM.
It is a very nice MBP if only these kernel panics could be resolved.
Marilyn
*MBP spec factory configured with 1680-by-1050 high-resolution antiglare display
**It is not clear whether or not this deep sleep is standby mode or safe sleep. It is likely to be safe sleep because when waking from this deep sleep a progress indicator appears

Kernel Panics since new RAM has been installed.
Dear Apple Discussions forum members,
I have been getting random kernel panics for a little while now. I have suspected my new RAM to be the cause of such failures, but I want my theory to be verified by more knowledgeable individuals like you.
The first sign of a problem came from the "Rember" RAM testing application results :
+All tests passed!+
+Total built-in memory: 4 GB+
+Available memory: 3006 MB+
Is it normal that only 3006MB was allocated for testing while I installed 4GB?
I have seen some topics on a few forums talking about crashes occurring when the Merom Intel CPU allocated some memory to programs, memory reserved for hardware purposes, in the 3,25GB to 4GB range (not entirely sure about the numbers, though).
To support my request for help, I have a couple of kernel panics logs than I can share with you. Since these logs are usually very lengthy, I will only post one and if you ask for the rest, I will post them.

Is it normal that only 3006MB was allocated for testing while I installed 4GB?
Yes, that's correct for early Meroms. You should list exactly which machine you have.
It sound like the RAM, especially if the crashes correspond exactly with adding the new RAM. The easy way to find out is to install the old/stock RAM.
Sorry if you don't understand french, the info is in the numbers anyway...

Yes, removing the RAM and replacing it with my stock 2x1GB works : no more panics whatsoever.
Is that enough of an argument to ask for a replacement or an upgrade to branded memory? -
15" 2.53Ghz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro - kernel panics about every 5 minutes after Lion upgrade
I just recently upgraded to Lion and since then have been plagued as it seems many users have been with kernel panics after the upgrade. Have repaired disk permissions, analyzed the drive with diskwarrior, swapped out the memory, unplugged all external devices, and shut down all unnecessary applications to no avail. Anyone have any idea when this is going to be fixed by Apple? My laptop is pretty much useless and formatting and going back to Snow Leopard is a rediculous option since I really do not want to spend a day or more reinstalling all of my applications just to get to a workable situation until Apple gets their "stuff" together. C'mon Apple - we expect more from you than this!

Kernel Panic when booting from OS X install CD
Hello,
I have a PowerMac G4 Mirrored Door that used to run 10.4.8 and was acting wonky. I repaired permissions and did the hardware test to no avail so I decided to clear the drive and reinstall the OS.
I reinstalled 10.2.1 with the original CD's and that went smoothly. I then attempted to update to 10.4.8 with the OS 10.4 install CD's that we had purchased. And when the computer tries to boot from the CD I get a Kernel Panic once the apple appears on the grey screen but before the status bar starts turning.
I reset the PRAM and updated to 10.2.8 but still got the panic when I tried again.
Here is the begining of the panic code:
panic cpu 0 caller 0x002E54BC: Unable to find driver for this platform: "PoerMac3,6"
The CD's I used say "For Mac Computers".
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Sincerely,
NickUnfortunatlly I was not here when the computer was upgraded last (I freelance at a studio with many computers that need constant attention). I was told that these were the CD's that were purchased for the upgrade and I've looked in vain for others.
They are 2 gray Apple CD's. The first install CD says "For Mac Computers" above Mac OS X install Disc 1. They each came in a sleeve with a sticker that says "Common Media Multillingaul"
These are the wrong CD's, aren't they? The correct ones have been lost, haven't they?
I was really hoping that wasn't the case. -
Three or four days ago I accepted to update my Firefox browser to version 2.0.0.7
I also downloaded the Widget Wizz RSS 2.1.9 Since then I had repeated kernel panics while browsing different websites.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem?
F. Donega - LondonI am also having this problem and would like to know as well

I have cleared PRAM/NVRAM with no solution. If the kernel panic is memory or wi-fi related, what is the fix? It is under applecare.I just received another kernel panic.

This is extremely frustrating. Does anyone have advice on how to go about solving this? -
Too Many Panics - Lots of Java Errors - Re-installed Safari
My stable-since-I-bought-her-new-in-2007 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo 2GB Apple RAM started to panic crash all the time on me recently. But only during/after running Safari. Repairing Disk Permissions showed a lot of "javascript" errors ...
I un-installed Safari. And re-installed from the copy at the Apple Support site. Tremendous improvement in overall performance.
I am not sure what caused my problem. I was only using one authorized plug-in. And I have had no similar problems on my 17" MacBook Pro from late 2006.
But I am back to feeling productive again with my mini!
THANKS to those who took the time to read my Panic reports last week.
Clint BradfordHi Clemens,
- Do you have any idea why "TOP" utility shows me RAM is being consumed almost 99%. I have gone through the different processes that are running in the server, but didnt find any of them which are not consuming even all together a total of 100-150MB of RAM.
- We have only tomcat server running in it, no other applicatoin not even DB server.
- I have installed the same application in our testing server which is setup in the same lines. There I find only single thread of JAVA and consuming around the same memory and the TOP utility shows us OUR SERVER RAM still having 50% of memory free. The only difference here is the JVM which is 1.4.1_01-b01. In our production server (server I mentioned earlier) is having JVM 1.4.2_06-b03.
Why do think is this difference? Is it because of JVM or some misconfiguration?
