Kernel panic with the AD2P support

Hello, I have got a sony ericsson bluetooth headset with AD2P support and when I try to use it with my mac I have a lot of problems... Kernel panics, pour quality, and a lot of problems when I try to connect it with the mac...
Does anybody have the same problem?
:S

I have exactly the same problem. Trying to connect to my sony-ericsson headset (HBH-DS200) creates a kernel panic every time.
I got it working for a few seconds then the macbook crashed.

  • Kernel Panics with 10.4.7.

So, did anyone else SUDDENLY get Kernel Panics with the 10.4.7?

    Hi, Anapharya.
No kernel panics on my Macs after 10.4.7 Update.
See my "Resolving Kernel Panics" FAQ. This FAQ includes step-by-step instructions for identifying and resolving some of the most common causes of kernel panics.
My FAQ is a roadmap: start at the beginning and work through to the end, including the "If all else fails..." section if a cause or resolution is not found in an earlier troubleshooting step therein.
    Good luck!

  • Kernel panics with external mouse in clamshell mode

Have had more than 6 kernel panics; usually after waking; always in clamshell mode when using a Logitech wireless mouse (with or w/o software loaded) or Kensington USB trackball (with driver loaded but not worth using w/o driver). Does not happen with Apple USB mouse. Does not happen in laptop mode -- haven't tried laptop mode w/external mouse. Always on work Ethernet when in clamshell mode.
Has occurred w/OS 10.4.9 and 10.4.10. Have run extended Apple hardware test w/no results.
Have removed Logitech “LCC” file from user/library/application enhancers.
Have experienced panics w/a variety of apps open/active, including just Safari.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Greetings.
I'm having the same problem as Beanfield. I'm using a MX620 Logitech Wireless Laser Mouse, and it produces several problems under Mac OS X 10.4.10. The micro receiver is plugged to the rear of my iMac Intel Dual Core and altough I've switched it to the USB ports of my Apple Keyboard it still happens. The Kernel Panics (with the Grey Screen of Death) happen mostly when the mouse awakes the computer. Very often, when right clicking or single clicking items, the menus appear and disappear. Dragging items becomes impossible and even after restarting the iMac the problem persists.
It also interfers with the keyboard: sometimes the cursor blinks when moving and when I press any key on the keyboard, it resumes its normal activity. Recently I've added 1 G of RAM, but I've excluded it from the problem since it worked normaly with my now defunt Mighty Mouse. Also, I bought a 500 G Lacie external drive that works very well.
I'm getting very frustrated since this problems began only a few weeks after my purchases, which took in account full compatibility with my system. All drivers are correctly installed so...what's happening?
    Best Regards

  • Kernel panics with external Apple modem

This question has been raised before, but I'm revisiting it in hopes someone may have found a solution.
I'm getting frequent freezes and failures to awake from sleep, and a number of kernel panics that always implicate the faxmodem:
Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies):
    com.apple.driver.AppleSM56KUSBAudio(1.9.14)@0x6d364000->0x6d37efff
    dependency: com.apple.iokit.SM56KUSBAudioFamily(1.5.10)@0x6d34d000
    dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily(3.1.5)@0x602000
    com.apple.driver.AppleUSBUHCI(3.1.5)@0x8e1000->0x8eefff
    dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.4.1)@0x631000
    dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily(3.1.5)@0x602000
    com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily(3.1.5)@0x602000->0x629fff
When the USB modem is not connected I do not get these KPs.
Apparently there is a firmware conflict between this old Apple modem (I bought it for another machine in 2006) and Intel-based duo-core machines. The Apple Store people tell me the newest Apple USB modems are the same, that is, they have not been updated.
Any ideas? Do I have to buy another fax modem? I just use it for faxes.
    Thanks.

  • Kernel Panic with AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement on Macbook Pro Retina 15

    Hello,
I'm getting Kernel Panic with grey "Death Screen". This happends 5 times. On 5-th of January (3 times) and on 8-th (2 times).
All the cases according to Consol reports have similar symphtoms:
    panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff802aeb7e75): Kernel trap at 0xffffff7face2557e, type 13=general protection, registers:
    Kernel Extensions in backtrace:
    com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement(196.0)[F79878E3-8CF9-3ACF-B578-2CE 754CA61F8]@0xffffff7face0e000->0xffffff7face36fff
This line (besides many others) is different in reports
BSD process name corresponding to current thread: WindowServer (2 times)
And other one quicklookd, WebProcess and Web Service.
I sent all reports to Apple Support as MAC OS asked me about. BTW I can publish them again here.
Firstly, may be it's possible to figure out the reason of panics: Is this the SW or HW problem?
Guys at service told me to bring Macbook AS IS. But if this is the SW problem I can clean / reinstall OS etc. myself.
And (after cleaning and/or reinstalling) if the problem is in HW I'll be getting panics again. So I can bring to service Macbook with new history of panics.
So what is the probability of HW problem in such a case. When all reports point to the same .kext file.
    Thank You in advance.
    Cheers,
    Victor
P.S.: Computer is new, I didn't change configuration, OS etc.
Installed programs under question: m3tag (Tag Editor - recompiled by somebody from WIndows program with some similar to CrossOver env.)

    Thanks for reply.
Exactly - MP3Tag Wineskin port. I also think that here is the reason. This port is up-to-date (10.8.2 compatible) but very inacurate - I found  many garbage in MP3Tag package.  And the original Windows program is very old - 1984(?).
I removed this program from computer and I have to get a try for some period of time.

  • Kernel panic with wifi backup to Time Capsule

I have had no problem with wireless backup to Time Capsule until recently when I would consistently get a kernel panic during the backup. Is it a corrupt file? How would I isolate it? Or could it be a directory problem that DiskWarrior would fix? I can mount the backup image on my desktop OK.
I suppose I could erase my backup image on the Time Capsule, but I dont want to lose all that data. And if I did, what is the best way to archive that TIme Capsule backup image?
    Thanks for any help.

First, Repair your backups per #A5 in the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum.
If that doesn't help, here's a bunch of kernel panic info:
Apple Support - About kernel panic messages
Mac OS X Kernel Panic FAQ
The X Lab - Resolving Kernel Panics
Apple Developer - Technical Note TN2063: Understanding and Debugging Kernel Panics

If your backups are ok, erasing the drive probably won't help. But to "archive" the backups, see this Apple article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1281

  • What is CIJScannerRegist?  I've gotten two Kernel panics in the past 2 hrs

My Mac Pro has been stable for over 2 years now. I've just gotten two kernel panics in the last 2 hours, both related to a process called CIJScannerRegist. Who owns this process and what does it do? I did a ps aux on it and at least found where it is located:

I still don't know what it does. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok.. I have one question answered but it brings up another. For anyone else that is having this issue, CIJScannerRegist is some daemon that is getting kicked off on boot. At the moment I don't know WHY it is getting started but I have found this. The application is located at: /Library/Image Capture/Support/LegacyDeviceDiscoveryHelpers/CIJScannerRegister . This is an app related to Canon All-In-One printers. I have a Canon Pixima MP800R Scanner/Printer. For some strange reason that escapes me all of the sudden this is causing Kernel Panics. I have a New MBP and an older Mac Pro. Both have SL 10.6.2 installed. Both have the Canon Driver installed. I found that both had an earlier version so I downloaded the latest driver from the Canon website. The one you want is the 45.3Mb file named mp800rosxns10ea7-3.dmg. This has the printer/scanner/network all rolled into one.
What is very curious is on boot my laptop (which does not kernel panic) boots but the process CIJScannerRegist does NOT start. On my desktop however I get the following two additional processes that are running:
$ ps aux | grep Image

You can see process 257 and 254 were started on boot. If I kill both process, I don't get a kernel panic. What I would like to know is what in blue blazes is starting the processes? If I go under System Pref's on BOTH machines, under Login Items there is the Canon IJ Network Scan Utility but only on my Mac Pro am I getting these additional two processes. I did a ps aux | grep Scan and I see the network Scan utility. That is a different process. Something is starting this CIJScannerRegist process. What I would like to do is simply fix that this process is getting started but I'm not sure where in the boot process that this is getting kicked in.
So for anyone else with this issue, the hack fix is do a ps aux | grep Image in a terminal window. Get the process ID of CIJScannerRegist and then do a kill -9 ID# where ID# is the process id you got from the first command. That will stop the kernel panics but still doesn't explain why they are getting started.
I will stop this thread and make a new post on the process as that is really a different question.

  • Kernel panics all the time - what is the reason?

during the past few month (must be 3 or 4) I've get kernel panics all the time. there are no specimen programs open. sometimes I've get the kernel right after the start. it is very frustrating because apple couldn't help me so I hope someone know what these panic log means (these are only the three last one):

I have had the same issue since I got my Powerbook (1.5GHz). I'll tell you what I have tried, but it looks like Apple is going to just have to either replace the logic board or the whole computer itself.
Since the very beginning I suspected the graphics card. I really don't know how to decipher the panic.log, but I see NVDA and Graphics repeated a lot in the log. Regardless, I tried every troubleshoot out there, but nothing worked. I reset PRAM, did both hardware tests, fixed permissions, I even erased my hard drive and reinstalled both from the install disk, then from a different OS 10.4 disk. I did an archive and install, a journaled erase, and a complete erase of my hard drive. I even reset the Airport card. I called Apple care and they basically wanted me to do the same things I had already done, so I just took it into the Apple store for repairs. The company they contract their work out to (Flextronics International) did not do any extensive diagnostics, they simply replaced a flex cable between the hard drive and the logic board. I got it back and within a week the kernel panics started again. I took it back in and this time they (Flextronics) reset the Airport card, which made absolutley no sense. I know a loose Airport card causes kernel panics, but by this point they should have done much much more than that. I have been struggling with this for over a month and Apple wants to try one more repair before replacing the computer. It has been extremely frustrating dealing with Apple technical support and customer relations. I haved been extremely patient with them, but at this point I just feel like they have wasted too much of my time on this issue that could have been resolved if they contracted their work out to competant companies.
So like I said. Good luck on getting it fixed. You may be having a different problem, but I tried all the troubleshooting that is recomended to consumers and more, yet my Powerbook is still getting kernel panics. At this point I am just trying to get Apple to fix the problem once and for all. And I think that will involve a new logic board or a new computer.

  • Kernel Panic with 10.4.3, 10.4.4

I have a Quicksilver dual 1GHz G4 with 1.25GB of ram. It was ridiculously stable until the 10.4.3 update. With the 10.4.4 update, things got even worse. I now have so many kernel panics as to make the machine unusable.
I've run through the "Resolving Kernel Panics" page step-by-step... run DiskWarrior, run the machine with "plugs-out" (NO FireWire or USB devices plugged in), archive & installed, ran with each stick of ram individually, repaired permissions, zapped the PRAM, run "reset-nvram" and "reset-all" in Open Firmware.... nothing fixes it, nothing seems to be the culprit.
Crash log below. Can anyone help PLEASE?

Sorry, forgot to include that info. I ran the Apple Hardware Test and the TechTool Pro suite of hardware tests.... all passed. (And yes, I had pulled everything FireWire and USB except the Apple keyboard and mouse, which were plugged directly into the Mac.) In addition to the Open Firmware "reset-nvram" and "reset-all", I also hit the CUDA switch on the motherboard. The machine is still giving me kernel panics. The only thing I haven't done yet is pull the hard drives and clean-install onto a new drive. (I hope to do that tonight.)
What's interesting is that the dim-out "You have to restart your computer" screen is gone, and has been replaced by white-on-black text generator text overwriting the GUI display, and after restart there's no "report to Apple" dialog, nor is there any log entry. Having Console and Activity Monitor show nothing out of the ordinary.
For what it's worth, I'm "forcing" the KP by running iTunes with the visualizer running, figuring that's the closest thing to me sitting at it doing stuff and waiting for it to crash out. When it panics, the music goes into a loop of the last 1/2-second of music (i.e. "dit-dit-dit-dit-dit-dit...")
Another item of note is that 10.4.0 (after clean install) and 10.4.2 do not have this problem. The panics only occur under 10.4.3 and 10.4.4.
The text of the white-on-black text is retyped as follows. Notice that the DAR record is the only thing different between the two:

error code meant. He told me that RAM either works
or it doesn't. The PRAM zap was done at his
suggestion. Hasn't changed a thing. The kernel
panics have only grown more steady over the past
couple of weeks. More frustrating are frequent and
repeated application crashes (even simple stuff like
Safari, Mail, Address Book and Preview). Applecare
suggested I do a clean install of the OS. But it
sounds like a hardware issue to me. The app crashes
are occurring in different accounts on my MPB. I
don't want to spent a half-day reinstalling all of
my software only to have the issues continue. I'm
going to try to re-seat the RAM and then make an
appointment at the genius bar to have them take a
look at this. It had been running perfectly for the
    first few weeks.
If you had an error code during the Hardware Test your MBP has a problem. The 4MEM/1/60000000: maybe linked to bad RAM or not seated correctly. If not seated correctly it will not boot, so it sounds like a bad RAM slot or memory stick.

  • MacPro 4,1 with ATI 5870 Kernel Panics with logs

    Hello,
My system is a MacPro 4,1 with 8GB of RAM, 4 Internal HDs, and an Apple ATI 5870 video card that I upgraded to from the stock Nvidia GT120 a little over a year ago.  I'm running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
I've had very little problems with kernel panics in the past, but in the past few days, the screen just goes blank without warning and I need to force a power down and restart the computer.  It hangs in safe mode, in diagnostic mode and sometimes even during the startup process.  It never goes for more than 10-15 minutes now without a kernel panic.
I have zapped the PRAM, run the TechTool Pro memory test, fixed the disk permissions and the boot drive to no avail.  I even pressed the hardware SMC reset switch on the motherboard which I thought fixed the problem but a crash occured a soon after.
As a last resort, I removed the 5870 and re-installed the GT120 and things seem to be working fine, although video performance is obviously highly degraded.
Although I seem to know the the 5870 video card is the cause of these panics, I am unsure of why they suddenly began a few days ago.  Does anyone have any suggestions or similar bad experiences with this card?  Can it be repaired?  Are there any fixes for this problem?  Can you run diagnostics or fix the firmware on the card?  The card is very expensive and no longer under warranty.  I did notice that one of the gold contacts may be a little damaged, but I can't be sure.
I'm including two of the many logs I've saved.  I can attach more if need be.
    thanks,
    Nick

  • Kernel panic with larch5.3 building CD!

Hi, could someone kindly help this.
I got the kernel panic with larch5.3 building CD. I didn't get any error messages during the creating. The error message of starting system is in belowing words.
:: Initializing writable layer for union (overlay)

Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

Hi gradgrind, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have added aufs, eject packages. But it seems still cannot work. Sorry for many troubles.
One think. When I create the iso file, it gives a warning message.

  • Kernel Panic with Stripes

I've got a 3 year old 15" macbook pro that went into Kernel Panic with Stripes today. There was nothing plugged in except for a power supply. My wife said it was in sleep mode and then she opened it up and displayed the following screen.
    /___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
I've rebooted it a few times and the same thing keeps happening. I also plugged it into another machine and mounted it as a firewire drive and am currently copying all the files over to another drive.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

Bad or incompatible RAM is the most common cause of KP's. It could just need to be reset……. to make sure there's a good connection.
But, in your case.....Video Card? Just guessing from the stripes. Pay heed to running the +Apple Hardware Test+ in the following link.
Here's a great site for Resolving Kernel Panics. Please do all the steps in order, even if you don't think you need to do a certain step.
    Here's a great MacFixIt article.

  • Repeated Kernel Panic with a dual 1.8 G5

I have a dual 1.8 GHz G5 bought on the refurb Store in january.
It is the model with only two pairs of memory slots, 80 GB disk, and 2x128 MB of memory.
I have added 2x1GB of memory bought at macway.fr, and two SATA Maxtor 300 GB coming from my former Powermac.
The machine works well in basic conditions, but have Kernel Panic (or freezes, but mainly KP) when doing intensive task like h264 video encoding or everything CPU intensive.
Since the beginning, I have noticed that this machine fans never never accelerate when doing CPU intensive task.
(I use another G5 in my office, a dual G5 2 GHz, and its fans frequently accelerate when it works. And no Kernel Panic at all).
I have used Temperature Monitor. If I do a h264 video encoding, I see the CPU temperature raising, from basic 55°C to 71-73 °C, where the Kernel Panic arrives...
And fans never never accelerate during this time.
Temperature Monitor indicates a specified upper limit of 76 °C.
When I look through the pransparent panel, everything seems to be OK. Fans gently turn, no LED lighting.
Do you think, like me, that this machine could have a cooling problem ?
What could I our should I do ?
PowerMac G5 dual 1.8 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Fans never accelerate.

I think that you are right with the RAM.
I have removed the two 1 GB modules and made a test with only the original 256 MB.
Exporting a clip to h264 while playing another. 100 % of both CPU.
Temperature has risen up to 74 °C with no Kernel Panic.
The test is still going on with no problem.
I trusted the memory because I bought it in a Mac boutique. It seems I was wrong...
It is better for me, because it is easier to replace memory modules than to carry the G5 to an Apple Center and be without my computer

  • Kernel Panics with Macbook Pro 2011 on Lion 10.7.1

Ok so I've been getting a lot of kernel panics since I installed Lion, sometimes up to twice a day.
First, I did an Apple hardware check, which didn't show anything. Then I did a clean reinstall of Lion, but I'm still getting the kernel panic.
They are quite random, the only pattern I see is that I will get a kernel panic half the time I start up Parallels. But I also got a kernel panic when I was just browsing the web before I reinstalled Parallels after the clean install.
Here is one of them below. All three that I've had since the clean install mention com.apple.filesystems.smbfs as the last loaded kext. Does anybody know what the problem may be?
