Kernel power errors and Lite-On firmware
Hi there Bought a brand new HP 840 G2 laptop and had it setup with Win 7 64bit.Ran fine for about a week until I installed the Lite-On Solid State Drive (SSD) Firmware Update 2C03 Rev.A(10 Jul 2015) from the HP website and started getting random restarts with Kernel_power 41 critical errors in the event log. Now i cannot even find the drivers on the HP 840 G2 page but only on google cache: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:-qeIiblz-TsJ:h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail%3FswItemId%3Dob_150292_1%26swEnvOid%3D4158+&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=za How do firmware drivers get listed on one day and removed on the next? Is there a way to revert to the version of the firmware that came with the laptop? It was certainly not 2C03.Are my kernel_power issures really related to the firmware upgrade or is this just coincidence? Please help. Thank you.
you didnt seem to have configured the datasource / connection pool / database control with proper db properties
you should check your configuration to see if you have done it right and then you should check your application and the properties settings in the controls to ensure they are right.

Kernel Power error after Win 7 and RAM upgrade
Hello,
I posted earlier on the subject of win7 and ram upgrades. I did both and it seemed to go fine. I did the ram first ... replaced a 667Mhz 1gb with a 800Mhz 2gb. A couple of days later the computer just shut itself down and restarted. Since then it has done it another 5 times, seemingly at random. Yesterday I decided to spend some time looking into it and found the 'event log'. All the shutdowns are recorded as 'critical'. A search on the web/here showed other occurences of the fault associated with drivers as much as anything.
After I did the win update I did update almost every driver with ones from this site.
Other than the shutdowns the only issues I have which are of very mild concern are the length of time the fingerprint reader takes to be present and that occasionally the cursor is unavailable for about a minute after logging on. When you try and control it it jumps about anywhere but where you want it to go. I rolled back the alps driver and that seems to have sorted the cursor issue.
So, details of the shutdown from the event log are as follows.
Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
Date: 16/01/2011 16:21:31
Event ID: 41

Level: Critical
Keywords: (2)
User: SYSTEM
Computer: (removed by me)
Description:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
There's more (I've shown it all below) but it's not that important. When I looked into it I found details of the problem on the microsoft knowledge base. Its described here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504.
I believe I fit into scenario 3 for cause and resolution.
So, it seems that win7 and mixed speed ram may be a problem on some computers ... probably only a tiny number, but it looks like the HP3507 is one of them. I did see somewhere that I could down speed from 667 to 266 which might help with memory compatability but I can't see anywhere on the the insydeH20 bios where to do it. BIOS is version F18 .... upgraded from F15 as part of the Win7/RAM ugrade.
Before I swap back to the 'old' memory I'll see if anybody here can come up with any ideas. It may be that I have to sell off the expensive 2gb memory (ddr2 800mhz 200 pin) for £39.99 from maplin at a bargain price and get 2gb of 667Mhz from somewhere.
The full 'detail' regarding the fault is below.
Bye for now.
Phil

</Event>Hi DWeiland and Schwede,
Thanks for your replies. Yes I did the runtime engine registry change and also mass compiled the LV7.1 folder and my sourcecode. I still see the problem as I have set the LV adapter as Lv 7.1.1 runtime engine. Now I have changed it to LV7.1 development system. With this setting, it is not giving any error. Thus I don’t see any problem now. The older version of the code had the adapter as the runtime engine for some reason, now I have changed the setting to the development system. I hope that it shouldn’t be a problem.
Thanks again!
Thank you,

I sincerely appreciate your support, I really like windows 7 but Windows XP I never thought such failures in the last hour I had 2 of them in the last 24 hours I've had 4 and in the last 7 days I've had 25.
It is a very distressing situation.YM
These were called BCC116 and are related to a video timeout/failure
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the Blue Screen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".
Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OS's like XP to crash.
As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.
If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.
The first step is to install the newest video driver.
If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.
Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.
Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.
If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.
I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
We prefer at least 2 DMP files to spot trends and confirm the cause.
Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here
If you have any questions about the procedure please ask
Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem. The
work around is to edit the registry. If you are not comfortable doing this DONT. If you are, backup the key before you do
Press Win+"R" and input regedit
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels. Delete "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic"

May i know why this is so? How to get rid of these error and warnings?

you should check your configuration to see if you have done it right and then you should check your application and the properties settings in the controls to ensure they are right. -
major,F0408,117295,sys/chassis-1/fault-F0408,power-problem,2012-08-08T13:45:12,Power state on chassis 1 is redundancy-failed
what does this mean? Both the power cables are connected, and they have status "Operable" in Chassis Power GUI.
Other than that, no faults.
Is it possible to set the time without using NTP? Do I have to set time from NX-OS command-line?Hi Atle,
I have seen that kind of issues here and there is something you can try in order to correct this problem:
A workaround to clear the I2C faults is to reseat fan trays, PSUs, and IOMs. Here is how to do it:
1. Reseat the fans from fan 1 to fan 8.
2. Reseat the PSUs from PSU 1 to PSU 4.
Pull the components out one at a time from 1 to the last, leave it out for at least 3 minutes before reinsert it back, observe the light to make sure all return to green before pulling the next one.
3. If the above does not work, pull out the IOM that is
flashing amber. Leave it out for 5 minutes and reinsert. Make sure
everything comes up and the lights turn green.
4. Monitor the system while reseating components by issuing
# show tech-support chassis 1 iom 1 brief
5. May have to reseat the second IOM if amber lights shifted.
6. If reseating the IOM does not solve the problem, we may
need to reacknowledge the chassis. This is disruptive to network
connections of the blades. You need a set a downtime to do it.
7. Repeat these steps on all chassis that are having amber lights.
I strongly recommend you upgrade the firmware to 1.4(3q) and above when
you are able to set a downtime. The errors will need to be clear before
the upgrade. Otherwise the message may remain until you reseat the
components.
This is just a cosmetic issue on the UCS environment.
Hope this helps!

New MacBook Pro i7 2.66 - Kernel Panic Errors
Greetings! I have a new MBP, less than 3 weeks old now. I have received numerous kernel panic errors and am not sure how to decipher the log. I have run disk utility from the install disk and no problems came back. Not sure what to do.
The *first two crashes* happened while I was browsing in safari (only add = Web Developer, installed, but not enabled during the crash)...and the pages were quite simple, no heavy graphics--usually simple news blogs. It happens while I am connected via ethernet AND via airport. During the first two crashes I had a couple of firewire hard drives plugged in.
The *latest crash* happened while I was in Photoshop--again not doing anything to heavy. ANd no external drives were plugged in. Nothing but the power supply wired to the machine.
Can anyone help to explain what may be the problem. I am not sure if I should bring it in to the shop yet, or if there is something I can change from here to remedy the problem. Also, not sure if I should zap PRAM...I have yet to try this.
Thanks in advance for any insight into this problem.

can someone look at http://members.aol.com/trekboy07/vmware.jpg I am getting kernel compile errors and i am doing everything in the FAQ. what i do is i untar the file from the arch 4.0 cd into /usr/src/linux-2.4.20 and run make menuconfig take file from /usr/abs/base/kernel make some changes and replace it, and run "makepkg" i have done this in VMWare and on a Thinkpad 600 and get the same errors.
thanks for the helpIt seems like you bumped into a little bug in the linux kernel (at least, that's what google says, see the top link at http://groups.google.com/groups?q=undef … htool_gset )
I already sent a patch for this for 2.5 but I didn't know the problem
also exists in 2.4. The following patch fixes it:

Hello, Currently we are seeing this issue with a couple of our Lenovo T420s laptops with a Solid State Drive. ruffly about 10 or so. The Reboots happen randomly and do not create a dump file. We have contacted Lenovo and they are
not sure why its happening. Since this Crash I set it for Minidump this did not work my next steps will be to Disable Automatic restart on System Failure to see if it brings anything up. I am also looking at using Procmon to dump to a file as well.
If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Thank you.We have tested and checked both the Bios and firmware of the SSD Drive's
Bios was up to date and no issue
Firmware was also up to date as well.
Users are still experiencing random Reboots. I tried to capture the issue with Procmon but since the PC shutdown (Goes to a black screen no power at all even when turning the "Automatically
restart" off under Startup and Recovery) No dmp files as of yet. Unable to configure Procdump due to not knowing where the issue is and what is causing it to happen.
Going to replace one of the PC's with a New one with different hardware to see if this resolve the issue. If anyone has any idea's to be able to capture what maybe happening that would
be great.
Thank you. -

The Mac Pro will not power on when connected to the Tripp Lite LC2400. The Power Supply makes continuous clicking noises and repeatedly resets the Mac Pro every 3 seconds.
The same Mac Pro connected to an outlet with no Tripp Lite starts up with no problem.Hi,
I've the same notebook. I've not had any hardlocks so far, but I've not seen so much flash movies yet. Anyway, I just tried closing running youtube-video tab on Kde4 + enabled desktop effects -> Everything's fine.
Anyway, perhaps we can collect some issues and solutions in this thread. Here are problems, that I encounter:
- restart does not work
- errors during boot:

[ 9.263176] sdhci-pci 0000:0b:00.1: setting latency timer to 64
Issued solved:
- in order to make nvidia graphics working you have to disable Optimius in BIOS.
- Battery not recognized -- fixed after recend updates
- grub2 does not work. As soon as grub2 loads, the laptop reboots. -> stick to grub1 -- works now (either I did sth wrong the first time or a new version of grub2 fixes this issue)
- in order to make the touchpad work properly install psmouse-elantech from AUR
update: this is only a half-solution. vertical scrolling on the right edge works but graphical tools which rely on x11-input-synpatics still don't work. However, everything works fine with kernel 3.3. Once this in the main arch repos you won't need psmouse-elantech anymore.

Error 41 - Kernel Power in event log after clean shutdown - Windows 8.0
HP Envy H9-1405A - 16MB RAM, Windows 8.0, and up to date with updates. (16 months old but under extended h/w warranty). All user data backed-up daily.
After problems earlier today I noticed that after a controlled shutdown and start from cool (ie on/off button on PC, not mains power at the wall) the startup took over 10 minutes. Event browser showed error 41 - Kernel Power - "after system crash or lost power unexpectedly", which it definitely hadn't as I was testing a controlled shutdown.
When starting from overnight sleep mode this morning it came up with blue screen and an error mssage something like 'hard disk driver error', or similar (before first coffee so I wasn't really awake). PC wouldn't restart in anything like reasonable time until powered off at wall, after which it struggled up and ran normally for a while. Went out for a couple of hours and on return again the PC wouldn't re-start from sleep mode. Again used the wall power switch to effect the restart and PC and after very slow restart it ran normally. Event log showed Startup Repair ran due to a corrupted registry hive, and reboot used an earlier version.
Checkdisk ran clean and the HP Support Assistant diags just looped for ever.
I then tried a system restart, which worked but took a long time, and then a controlled power down and start from cool which also took a long time as described above. I've temporarily turned off sleep mode so as to keep working.
Question - do I have a transient software problem which might be fixable with Recovery, or failing hardware that should be covered by warranty, and where might I find some hardware diagnostics to show to the supplier? Thanks.Hello @mikerb,
I have read your post on how your desktop computer is displaying an error message in regards to a Kernel event log, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To further diagnose this issue, I recommend following the steps in this document on Windows Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first". This should help to resolve the critical error message.
Just to be on the safe side, I also suggest following this resource on Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8); which should help determine if there is a hardware defect with one or multiple hardware components on your computer.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

Kernel Power - Event ID 41 - Task Category 63 (spontaneous improper shutdowns and reboots)
I have been having consistent power offs/reboots lately, and im at my wits end about how to fix them.
It always seems to happen when im playing a high end game (Guild Wars 2, Mirrors Edge, etc.).
I havent experienced it while just browsing or doing basic work, or while playing lower intensity games that hog less resources.
The computer screen goes black, it reboots and i get the "windows has had an improper shutdown" kind of message.
Usually after playing the game for an hour at the least, though its happened 2-3 hours into the game as well.
I checked temps, and they are all normal,
Ive also attempted updating drivers, and downgrading from any beta drivers i was using, and none of that seemed to affect it.
I checked event viewer,
And right before this shutdown i get the critical error "Kernel-Power" "Event ID 41" Task Category 63"
this is the XML given to me in the details:

Ive looked around at others solutions and tried whats helped others and it hasnt done much so far.
it seems like this is a very broad problem, with no unspecific fix in most cases.Hi,
This scenario usually indicates a problem with the hardware. Or, the driver can cause this problem. To help isolate the problem, check the following items:
1. Overclocking: Disable overclocking to see whether the issue occurs when the system is run at the correct speed.
2. Check the memory: Verify the memory by using a memory checker. Verify that each memory chip is
the same speed and that it is configured correctly in the system.
3. Power supply: Make sure that the power supply has enough wattage to appropriately handle the
installed devices. If you added memory, installed a newer processor, installed additional drives, or added external devices, such devices can require more energy than the current power supply can provide consistently.
4. Overheating: Check whether the system is overheating by examining the internal temperature of
the hardware.
5. Defaults: Use system defaults, and run the system.
If you see that the computer generates a Stop error that contains a BugcheckCode value that is not reported in an event ID 41, change the restart behavior for the computer. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click Advanced system settings.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
5. Click to clear the Automatically restart check box.

Please help with Windows 7 x64 System error: Critical Kernel-power Event 41
I'm recieving this error while moving my laptop or working with it? Can someone help me to read memory dumps and to understand what causes this error please?
Where i can fount theese dump files? Can someone read them and is it possible to understand what is happening?
I have made full check of my memory and there are No errors I've also checked HDD with regenerator there are no errors too. but this not means that they can not be the problem. There is doubt about one of my HDD because when laptop is blocking there is bad
noise from HDD.
PS: There is another issue which is strange two of times when this happens the whole MBR was destroyed and the system refuses to boot ... only reboots. And i made bootrec /fixboot /fixmbr and this solve the problem ... I don't know is this connected with
system error, but i'm trying to give more details.
Thanks a lot.

Kernel Power ID 41 : error
Hi everyone!
Last day when I sat by my computer, it got totally hanged up. So I turned it off. When I started it again it took me like 20 min to get it started, then I got a error message.
I searched for it and tried different solutions, but I cant figure out if anything has been changed.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is based on the error parameters below?
This is the error log:

3221225473Hi,
According to the Event ID:41:
Here is a expanition about this Event ID:
The kernel power event ID 41 error occurs when the computer is shut down, or it restarts unexpectedly. When a computer that is running Windows starts, a check is performed to determine whether the computer was shut down cleanly. If the computer was not shut
down cleanly, a Kernel Power Event 41 message is generated.
An event 41 is used to report that something unexpected happened that prevented Windows from shutting down correctly. There may be insufficient information to explicitly define what happened. To determine what may have happened and to identify a potential
resolution, it is important to know what the computer was doing at the time just before the event occurred.
If event 41 is logged because power to the computer was interrupted, consider obtaining an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) such as a battery backup power supply. An underpowered or failing power supply may cause this behavior. For example, if you added
RAM or additional devices or hard disks when this problem began, the power supply may cause the problem.
You can refer to the conents of this link below:

Please also refer to its troubleshooting method to fix this problem, if encouner any problem, please feel free let me know.

Power Map has encountered an error and it needs to close, after changing the graphic settings
I've been using the updated Power Map tool successfully over the past few days.
Last night I was playing around with the graphics settings that can be found under the File Tab (I know that should teach me from playing around and following the user guide :-) ) and I changed the detail from Medium to High (I think) and now all that happens
when I click on create a new tour or select an existing tour is
"Power Map has encountered an error and it needs to close. Power Map can collection information about the error and create an e-mail which you will be able to send to Microsoft and help us fix the problem. Do you want to do this?"
The error that gets generated can be seen below.
Thank you for submitting this error information to Microsoft. We appreciate your help!

I've removed Power Map from the system, restarted, repaired Office, restarted and reinstalled Power Map but the problem remains. So i'm guessing that the setting I changed are stored in the Registry or File System somewhere.
Any help would be gratefully received.
