'Kernel_task' 100% usage. DigiDesign 003.

Hi,
I need some help! Whenever I stream audio using my DigiDesign 003 (FireWIre Audio Interface) Kernel_Task ramps straight up to 100% CPU usage on Core 1. I know that the interface is not supported on Yosemite. However, it is frustrating that the driver fully function and allow to play audio but only when 'Kernel_task' has a fit.
Any help would be appreciated.

My external HD increases the kernel_task memory usage.

I use an external firewire hard drive, SmartDisk FireLite, on my eMac.
the kernel_task memory usage (RSIZE) goes up to over 400MB,
whenever I connect my external hard drive to my computer.
normally, the kernel_task uses 100 to 150 MB
with all scanner, printer, keyboard, mouse, and etc connected.
soon after I disconnect the external HD,
the kernel_task memory goes down to the normal usage.
I don't know how kernel_task works, so I am not sure if the issue is normal...
Does any kind of external hard drive take a lot of memory for kernel_task???
If I use a USB hard drive, this won't happen???
400MB for kernel_task is a lot to me,
especially when i try to use softwares like photoshop, indesign, and etc...
so, if I could save the kernel_task memory, it would help me tremendously.
I would really appreciate it if you could give me any suggestion or answer.

I've already downloaded and tried the shareware.
It was great and provided more free space after running the program,
I am pretty satisfied with the results I got.
In fact, it gives me about 250MB more in free space on average.
It would almost cover the memory loss caused by my external HD.
However, I still hope there would be a way to stop my external HD eating much memory...
Recently I found my ipod shuffle which I've also used to store files won't affect the kernel_task at all and barely use memory...
I was thinking to get a new external HD as an option,
but I am worried if the same problem would remain with the new HD...

High kernel_task RAM Usage in Yosemite 10.10.1

No matter what I'm running, I always have high RAM usage with kernel_task. I've looked around the other threads and never found a definitive solution. I wouldn't call it crippling to my system but I would like to resolve the issue. Below is a screenshot of my activity monitor, and my Etrecheck run. Please let me know anything I can do to reduce the RAM usage of this process.

Itunes compatability with digidesign 003 audio interface

I have a Macbook Pro and Itunes my itunes previously would work with my digidesign 003 interface and one day it just would not be recognized, when I go to sound preferences in the mac i dont see the interface anymore now i also have a digidesign Mbox mini that always shows up and works perfectly, can anyone help me with this problem......Thanks

Yes the 003 works fine with Logic using the Core Audio driver available from the digidesign website (or that comes with the 003 when you buy it). The macbook pro will work just fine with that interface. I use mine with a Macbook Pro 2.16GHZ aluminium and a Mac Pro 8 core.
And works fine with OSX 10.5.6.

Xserve G5 CPU2 hitting 100% Usage

We have a problem with our G5 Xserve (Dual 2.3GHz 4GB RAM) with 10.4.8 X Server OS.
Since last a couple of weeks, the network became significantly slow when users log on(much more than usual slowness).
When I look at the glaph in ServerAdmin, the CPU2 is almost hitting the 100% usage whereas CPU1 is around 20%.
Up till today the symptom has been rather temporal - when all the user log off at the end of the lesson(we are art school), then the server is OK again.
But today, the symptom becomes very bad - the network service is very slow - user loggin on takes 2 to 5 mins.
I have heard about simillar problem relate to client 10.4.7 update which may cause the server CPU2 usage to go up significantly.
3 to 4 weeks ago, I have up dated all client OS to 10.4.8 and the Server OS to 10.4.8, too.
I have look through the web as much as I can but I can't find any useful info.
I would appreciate any opinion or suggestion, thanks.

Have you looked at the output of "top" to see what is hogging all the time? What do the console logs show? (you could have a continually-crashing daemon that is repeatedly re-launching).

Kernel_task 336% usage and Battery wont charge (MacBook Air 2012medio 11")

Hi Apple fans.
I've a one year old MacBook Air, 2012 Medio 11" 1.7ghz Intel Core 5, 4GB ram, Intel Graphics 4000 - and Mountoun Lion installed.
The problem is, that its awfully slow. It startet last week, where I bootet up normally, and saw the Battery didnt't charged (x as battery indicator). And even worse the general state of the machine is VERY slow. Everything is working with severe lagging - even just typing in Safari browser... like you type GOOGLE.COM and it enters it after nearly 20 sec.
I've narrow it through Activity Monitor to KERNEL_TASK using 336% usage (dont ask why its not 100% ;-). Rendering it absolutly uselsess. The Screen is darkend, behaps because the Kernel is taking on all CPU usage, rendering nothing left so maybe the MacBook Air auto goes into this mode, for protecting. The fan is not hammering, so it appears to work fine.
I've tried Once doing the SMC reset. It actually worked seeing the battery getting charged. But next day same problem, and now the trick of SMC wont work again!.
What to do?
I havent tried NVRAM reset or even SAFE MODE (that is my trick for tomorrow), but are there any order you should do this (ex. Safe Mode first, then SMC reset, then NVRAM reset)? Do you have to do a SMC reset several times before it works?
Hope anybody can help me out?

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

T410s with extremely poor performance and CPU always near 100% usage

Hi,
I've had my T410s for almost a year now and lately its been starting to get extremely slow, which is odd since it used to be so fast.
Just by opening one program, Outlook, or IE or Chrome, just one window, it will start to get extremely slow and on task manger I can clearly see the CPU usage at 100% or very near.
Also another thing I noticed was the performance index on the processor dropped from 6.8 to 3.6!!!
I did a clean Windows 7 Pro 64Bit install, I have all Windows and Lenovo updates installed and the problem persits
What is happening and what should I do??

IAt the time of the screenshot I had just fineshed to boot up the laptop and it wasnt hot at all.
I am getting desperate here, I am unable to work with my T410s

After updating to latest Firefox - when I click on google taskbar my CPU usage goes to 100% and stays there... and computer is really slow. No other search engine show the 100% usage like Google. There was NOT a problem with older versions of Firefox...?

How do i switch my digidesign 003 factory from pro toold to logic mode

hello everyone this has been eating me up all moring.
i have just started working with this 003 and its works fine with the pro tools le that came with it but when i try and use logic pro 8 with it it just does not want to know. i get audio coming out the speakers but i cant use the faders or any of the other functions of the desk.
i have a m-audio projectmix at home and i know with this when you turn it on you have to hold down different keys to change to diffrent programs. is this the case here? and does anyone know what i need to press?

It seems as though you do not know Digidesign very well. If you want it to work with Logic, yes, you can use it more or less to control the faders through MIDI, but that is usually unreliable and is a pain to set up.
Digi's HUI protocol is proprietary. It will not work with Logic. It will not work with Cubase/Nuendo. . . nor will it work with Digital Performer. Nor Live. Nor Sonar.
The project mix 8 is different. It is not a Digidesign piece of hardware (although I know someone on here is going to yell about how Digi and M-Audio are the same or something. . . but they're not)
and it is made to work with multiple platforms.
Unfortunately that's just the way it is.

Recovery HD not working, kernel_task 100%

Hello! I have run into a major problem with my iMac and I have no idea what is going on. Help would be greatly appreciated!
The inital problem: I was using my iMac last night, mainly surfing with Safari but with several other applications open in the background (Photoshop, at least ten Safari tabs, Mail, Evernote, iTunes, Spotify, possibly a few others). Suddenly, while reading on a forum, I could no longer scroll the page with my Magic Mouse. In fact, nothing responded at all, no clicks, no keyboard presses (wired, Apple Extended keyboard), no nothing. A minute later, the pointer froze too. I shut down with the power button and restarted.
The first time, the Mac booted into my BootCamp partition. Possibly, I had made that change myself earlier and forgotten about it. Windows 7 started without a fuss, and I then rebooted into OS X.
However, OS X would not load. For over half an hour, only the grey apple and the spinning wheel. Finally, I gave up and tried to boot into the Recovery drive. After a long, long period of waiting, I finally got to the "Welcome" screen where you choose your language. However, neither keyboard nor mouse responded to input. I restarted again, this time trying Safe boot. I got past the grey progress bar, but then it halted again. Tried again, booting into the original System disk (10.5.6), which worked after a long, long time. When at the Welcome screen, the mouse did not work, but I could choose with the keyboard. After choosing, the mouse came alive. I ran Disk Utility, which reported no errors. Set Startup disk to my main partition and restarted. This time (after a long, long time of waiting), I actually came to the login screen on my boot volume. Mouse and keyboard did not respond initially, but came alive after 5-10 minutes. I could then log in. I actually managed to work for a few minutes, saving two recovered PS documents and starting Activity Monitor, before everything beachballed and I had to power down again.
I have now tried this several times. I can only get in to my OS X partition by booting to my DVD, and then choosing the 10.8.2 partition as the Startup drive. I see the same unresponsive mouse/keyboard every time at login or welcome screens. When I get into my 10.8.2 system, I can see in Activity monitor that kernel_task uses 100-110% of processor time, and often another process takes all the rest (mds, CrashReport). Once, I actually managed to quit all my running applications and do a restart from the menu, but it then hanged up on me on the grey "shut-down" screen.
Meanwhile, my Win 7 partition still works like a charm.
Any ideas about what I should do? Should I just give up and restore from Time Machine already? What could be causing the problems with the mouse and keyboard? Why is kernel_task using so much processor time?

I'm sure when Linc responds he'll have a "Real" way to fix your problem but the other day I was having a Kernal_Task run away on my MBA and after running every possibility on ONYX it seems resolved.

High "kernel_task" Memory Usage

Hello All,
I am in need of help. I have a MBP w/Retina from August 2012. It has worked beautifully until a couple of weeks ago (I think maybe when I installed Mavericks), and it then started to slow down considerably.
I have noticed high memory usage by "kernel_task" but have no idea what that is.
See the attached picture to give you the idea. Please help me to get my MBP w/Retina back to being awesome again.

Freezing problem/Kernel_Task memory usage-related?

I have a 1ghz 14" ibook G4 with 684mb ram running 10.3.9, and my computer has been freezing a lot. Some of the crashes are kinda scary, with the display flipping out (looks like a colorful snowstorm) but most are just total freezeups. I did a system restore in August, but it hasn't eliminated the problem, so I've been keeping an eye on my system with the Activity Monitor. the biggest memory hog seems to be the Kernel_Task process under Root user, using up 1% of CPU, 52mb of Real Memory, 713mb of virtual memory with 39 threads. Does that seem like normal usage for Kernel Tasks? My system seems to have a large portion of it's memory constantly in use, around 600mb, and thought that they might be related...

I also just noticed that aound 320mb of the memory that Activity Monitor is saying is used is inactive. Don't know if that means anything...

100% hard disk usage, and also CPU usage go to 100% and the ram also reach 60% with google task only with 1 tab it is resulted a slow. I already apply the Disable

and also in regedit disable the supertech and also other one ï "forgot tha exact name but had tech in the end"
but no happen its still the same, it is resulted to push the power button twice before i can log on, so i am asking your help guyz.
I buy i7 Hp so its work faster than i5, but now its slower than i5 i think.! I konw HP had a solutions of this, so please help me

This screenshot is not a 100% disk usage but still the system is the number one, i open only 3 tabs in chrome and outlook, and sometimes, actually many times even i open only one tab of google chrome they can reach 100% disk usage. by the way i attach also the CPU and memory usage, with 3 tab of google chrome and 1 outlook, then look at the memory usage and CPU
Hope u can help me, because i had a problem in the other task, this is a simple task, chrome and outlook only so why it happened? when i close my outlook and opened one tab of google chrome my ram can reach 60% usage.
