Kernel version for my sp levels

Hello,
I am running SAP server 6.40 on Solaris (64bit EX2 for Oracle) with 327 Kernel Version.
I have work processes that crash when executing a specific abap program.
As it may take time before sap dev support find the bug, I would like to test
with an old kernel (319) on my DEV system.
I would like to ensure that my support packages can run with the 319 Kernel.
Where could I find the minimum version of kernel needed by a support package level?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hello,
The OSS message has been opened last week.
The other options are also to downgrade as we suspect that it is a new bug.
This is why I have posted my original question.
Do I have a way to find out if it is ok to run HR 5.00/SP 79 with Kernel 327?
Another option is to upgrage only the dispatcher & work process as I can get a version above 347:
dw_355-10004725.sar
But I am not very familiar with these upgrades.
Can I use dw_355 with my 327 other binaries?
See you,

  • What is the latest kernel version for OL6

    Hi,
After a yum update, this is what I got:
    2.6.32-300.39.1.el6uek.x86_64
I am using a SSD and it seems (based on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRIM) that
support for ATA TRIM was added in 2.6.33.
My question is what is the latest kernel version for OL6?
    Thanks,
    Zhe

You will need to modify your ULN channel subscription or which channels are enabled from public-yum.oracle.com to install this kernel.

  • Manadatory SP stack and which kernel version for source Release 4.6c

    Hello!
    I have the following questions:
    - Which support package stack and which kernel version are mandatory for Source Release 4.6?
    - Has the SAP Business connector still any supports?
And some additional question regardind connection Lotus Notes with ERP 2005:
    - What is the procedure to connect Lotus Notes and ERP 2005 (Do we need RFC-connects or RFC/BAPI?)
Can anyone help out or recommend how to proceed?
    Thank you!
    Regards
    Axel

First I would like to recommend getting a good basis consultant to do that whole process. If you have never done such kind of big technical upgrade/conversion before it can become a totally frustrating experience.
    >  Do you all do Unicode Conversion first before going for upgrade process ?
4.6c is not available as Unicode. During the PREPARE programs/transactions will be imported to the 4.6c system where you have to run all the preprocessing step mentioned in the Unicode conversion guide. After that is finished, the system is upgraded and immediately after the exported and to be imported as a Unicode system.
Anyone have experience in doing CUUC to EHP4 under single upgrade ? My colleagues have upgraded 4.6C -> ERP 6.0 for EHP 1 only and we want to perform EHP4 and Unicode Conversion under single project. Appreciate anyone advice on this.
There are many many things to look after, too much to list here in a forum. As suggested I'd consider getting a basis consultant with experience in that area.

  • Kernel version for SAP ERP 6 Ehp4

    Hi all,
We have installed ERP 6 Ehp 4 with SAP kernel 7.01. Is it possible to upgrade kernel to version 7.20 without upgrading other components (basis) to Ehp 5?
    Thank you for your answers
    Andrej

Hi, this is so called Rolling Kernel switch.
you can replace to the release 720 without much problems. I have done this in release 710.
However, could exist some situations that you have to update the support package like in my case that I had the short dump DDIC_TYPELENG_INCONSISTENT after the kernel update. You can check further details in note  1636252.
this is the main note about the project: 1616491

  • Kernel Recompile for RH6.1?

I am currently running RH6.1 on a Compaq Proliant 2500R using kernel "linux-2.2.12-i686.smp". I would like to recompile the kernel changing shared memory and semephores. Is it possible to make changes to the shmparam.h and sem.h then use the "make oldconfig"? I am not wanting to rebuild the entire kernel and the linux-2.2.12 readme is not real helpful in making this happen. Are there any more decisive docuements out there for doing what I am attempting Instead of the generic kernel build documents?
    Thanks,

Make oldconfig is used when you upgrade the kernel version (For ex. 2.2.13 -> 2.2.14)
You will have to do a make config, or better yet make xconfig or make menuconfig to configure your new kernel because the default source tree is unconfigured.

    Rich,
    Go to http://service.sap.com/swdc
    Choose:
    1. SAP Support Packages
    2. Entry by Application Group
    3. SAP NetWeaver
    4. SAP NETWEAVER
    5. Select your release (for example SAP NETWEAVER 04)
    6. Entry by Component
    7. Developer Studio
    8. SAP NW Developer Studio 2.0
    9. Win32
    10. Select the version of NWDS you'd like to download: JIDE<SP><>.SAR (for example       JIDE09_1-10002804.SAR, which is SP09 patch 1)
You'll need to download SAPCAR.EXE to extract the SAR file. You can find this by choosing Additional Components in step 3. After extraction you can install the software.

  • Version Numbers Vs. Patch Levels For Web Tools

I have noticed that version numbers for Web Tools such as 620, 621, 622, 624, 625, 627, and 628 correspond somehow to the patch level (6, 8, 10, etc.). What is the difference between the version numbers and patch levels, and which ones match up with which?

    Hi Michael,
Prior to p10, the last digit of the version corresponds to the patch level.
From p10 going forward, the last set of digits represents the patch.
    Patch 10 is 2007.0.630.10
    Patch 11 will be 2007.0.631.11
The version will only change if there are upgrade scripts that need to run for the patch.

  • Oracleasm RPMs not available at OTN for Kernel version 2.6.18-155

    Hi,
I have installed RHEL5.4, 64-bit. Oracleasm rpms are not present at OTN for kernel version 2.6.18-155.el5 (RHEL 5.4, 64-bit).
I am referring to the following link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/downloads/rhel5-084877.html#oracleasm_rhel5_amd64
Please advise from where to download the packages.
    Regards,
    Purnima Johari

    Hi!
Don't use ASMLib, it will be no longer available, it will only came in Oracle Unbreackeable Kernel for Linux 6.
I'm highly recomend you to use a newr version of Linux such as 5.5 or above.
The easly way to set the permissions on your devices is with a /etc/init.d script that do the job.
    Here is an example:
    #! /bin/bash
    # chkconfig: 2345 25 19
    # description: Set ASM Permissions on to devices at boot.
    case "$1" in
    start)
    /bin/chown oracle:oinstall /dev/sdb1
    /bin/chmod 0660 /dev/sdb1
    stop)
    #do nothing
    status)
    ls -l /dev/sdb1
    echo "Usage: $0 {start|stop|status}"
    exit 1
    esac
    exit o
You need to replace the /dev/sdb1 for your acctual partitions.
The other way to do this job y using UDEV rules (as my concern, is the finest way to do this)
pleas refear to this link on how to use udev:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/linux/udev-scsi-rules-configuration-in-oracle-linux-5-and-6.php#create_udev_rules_file
    Hope it's helps.

  • Kernel Upgrade for ECC 6

    Hi all,
I want to upgrade the kernel patch level for ECC 6.
I download all files in http://www.service.sap.com/patches
<b>path</b>: Entry by application group -> Additional Components -> SAP Kernel ->SAP Kernel 32 bit Unicode -> SAP KERNEL 7.00 32-BIT UNICODE -> Windows Server on IA32 32bit -> Database independent
Then, I extract all, stop SAP server and copy all these files to \SYS\exe\uc\ and restart server. But, on SAPMMC the dispatcher remains yellow "<b>Dispatcher - Running but Dialog Queue info unavailable</b>".
The old kernel patch level is 75, and I extract the file SAPEXE_102-20000972.SAR (patch level 102),  but when checking system status, I found that the kernel patch level is not updated.
Do you know this problem ? Do I miss some steps ?
    Thank you very much,
    Sylvecast

MMC connects to the underlying sapstartsrv.exe windows service. Beside starting up and shutting down the processes listed in the start profile, this service will also connect to shared memory segments to find out the status of work processes and the dispatcher.
When starting the system it will normaly first execute sapcpe.exe to replicate new executables from the central replication directory (DIR_CT_RUN) to the instance executable directory (DIR_EXECUTABLE).
If you provide a new kernel version to DIR_CT_RUN, it will copy and start a new disp+work.exe and sapstartsrv.exe to the local directory WHILE the old sapstartsrv.exe service executable is still running.
if the new disp+work.exe contains changes to shared memory structures (compared to the old one) the old sapstartsrv.exe will not be able to read them. <i>Dispatcher - Running but Dialog Queue info unavailable</i> is one result of it, unavailable work process information another one.
sapstartsrv.exe will detect that there is a new version of it's executable by comparing sapstartsrv.exe against sapstartsrv.exe.new (which have the same timestamp in DIR_CT_RUN) and will restart the service with the new executable after 5 minutes which will normaly. This automatically fixes the problem and is documented in windows application log (eventviewer).

  • Crashing with Kernel Panics for no apparent reason - HELP!!

Hello - new to this forum, and I hope someone can help me resolve a problem I've been recently having with my PowerMac G5.
It all started when I installed some an additional 2GB of RAM (bought from Crucial, which is always very good and reliable) to add to my existing 2GB of Apple RAM, and soon afterwards, found the Mac crashing with the 'grey veil of death' happening quite a lot.
I ran Memtest several times, which showed n problem with the RAM, but I removed it anyway, to see if it was that which was causing it, and the Mac still keeps crashing with either a grey veil of death, or just a total freezeup, requiring a hard-reboot.
I have tried everything - removing all attached devices, resetting the PRAM, pressing the little reset button on the logic board, removing the battery and unplugging the Mac for a day, swapping the Apple RAM (which has always been fine) into different slots.... nothing seems to work.
At the weekend, the Mac wouldn't even boot up, and kept turning itself off during startup after in the grey screen with the Apple logo and spinning radar-wheel.
I got it to boot up OK from an external firewire drive I have, but Disk Utility said it couldn't fix the drive and Diskwarrior also said it was irreparable.
I did manage to get Techtool to repair it though, which took about 9 hours but it did successfully rebuild the volume structure and the Mac would then boot up fine and all seemed ok, but it still crashes randomly and for no apparent reason.
I never did put the new RAM back into the machine so it's all as it was before all this trouble started, and I have no devices attached to the Mac anymore, except the original Apple keyboard and mouse (which I don't normally use, but my wireless one doesn't let me start up from an external drive or reset PRAM or anything...).
I'm going mad trying to figure out what is wrong with this thing, and I have just read how to get a crash-report (although it means nothing to me), so am posting it here.. I hope that's OK....
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
    Thanks
    Matt
