Key and name customized display

Hello,
I would like to know (in BW3.1) if there is a trick in the Bex to display "key and long name" for a characteristic in the report while the object is declared with 'short description' in the rsa1 (bex part) ?
The objective is not to change for all user the default display (we want to keep short name) but allow some users to display even so "key + long name". Apparently only 'long name' alone is possible, a pitty.
We could solve creating a separate attribute, but it's an heavy trick...

Recently we have upgrade our BW 3.5 system to BI 7.0 (Only system upgrade not applications ).
after the upgrade we are facing lot of issues with Bex Analyzer. The following are some of the issues
1) In BW3.5 after the execution of Workbook or query ,we can convert to local currency .
Right click on workbook -> Currency translation-> Database currency .
but after upgrade to BI7.0 this is not working ..
2) Characterstic Right click on workbook Dispaly as Key and Name is also not working ..
I know that Currency translation in BI7.0 works in different way compare to BW3.5 .we can use alternate option like By Target Currency from Database currency to convert to local currency and it is working fine in Bex,but businesss users want more friendly way ...because to select the above option they have to enter local currency and rate type ...
Do you we have any notes available for the above solutions ..?Do we need to upgrade Bex version also..?Is there any document which describe how the above things works after system upgraded to BI7.0?

With this code, can connect to a exchange server (smtp) and send a mail, with a custom display name.

That won't work the way you want it in EWS, like when you send via Outlook or OWA when you send a messages via EWS it's submitted via the Exchange store so the Sender Address will be resolved back to the default Reply address for whatever account your trying
to send as. If you need some sort of custom display name I would suggest you stick to SMTP or possible create a Transport Agent that would rewrite the address before its sent externally.

Update keys and fields

Hi All,
In my landscape, we have 2 remote systems for mdm. ( say source as BO, target as ECC).
When we import data from BO, we are generating key (based on Account group.) using Remote system key generation technique.
But,at the same time we want to update same key value for the customer field.
Is there any technique we can update key value for the field values?

If I understand correctly, you want to populate both the Remote Key and a customer field with the same value taken from the BO system. In your import map, select the field coming from BO in the Source Hierarchy Pane, right click, and select clone field. You should then be able to map the field from BO to [Remote Key] and the cloned field to the customer field.

Need to set "Title", "Display Name" and "Name" fields to custom string property "RMA Number" for each instance of custom work item

Hi,
We have a custom Work Item we use to track RMA's. I've created a string property called RMA Number which is also used as a key.
RMAs do not have titles or any other identifying properties other than the unique RMA number (think incident number).
I was wondering what the best approach would be to set these other fields ("Title", "Display Name" and "Name") to the RMA Number value (RMAXXX), as I'm currently investigating using a powershell script via a workflow.

Display key and text by WAD command in custom structure hierarchy

Hi everybody,
I have a query using a custom structure with hierarchy layout. As usual the structure does only display its text as descriptions but I can enable the display the key in BEx Web by right-click on the analysis item --> Properties --> Characteristic --> Display. Unfortunately these setting can not be defined directly in the structure within the Query Designer.
For a workaround I put the query into a web template, in which I used the Set Presentation (SET_PRESENTATION) command to enable key and text display from the start. Hence I put that command in the wem template parameters Action Before First Rendering (ACTION_BEFORE_FIRST_RENDERING). Everything is working properly and makes me very happy.
But... there is one thing missing, I would like to implement... I want a toggle button, which allows the user to switch between key and text display and text display. Unfortunately setting the same command from Action Before First Rendering (ACTION_BEFORE_FIRST_RENDERING on a various button does not working. The button command only affects data rows of the leaves of the structure hierarchy. All parent nodes do not change their appearance.
Any ideas how to solve this?

Long text problem in BW query and Key figure name

Hello
We're using SAP BO 4.0 (IDT) and SAP BW as a datasource. Maybe someone knows:
1. How to change the name of keyfigure, which now appears as Formula 1, Formula 2 etc. In BW every single key figure has it's own name Sales, Purchases etc. What I'm missing here?
2.As you well might know every single char infoobject has it's own Long\Short\medium which now appears as an attribute. When I choose multiple Long definitions then the execution of a BEx query fails with 'Inconsistent answers'. In Universe Designer we can change the objects name, but how to proceed here. Do I need to change something on a Bex query level?
I'm well familiar with SAP BO, but due to lack of experience in SAP I'' ve hit astumbling block with these 2 things> Any assistance would be more than welcome

for (1) - that doesn't sound right... i think your KF are calculated KF (CKF) possibly with a formulae variable .. or something, which is supposed to populate the name, based on a user response ?
Or maybe you've got non-unique KF descriptions, and this is some system imposed nomenclature?
for (2) i'm not so sure, but you may have to change the infoobject text setting, globally, in RSA1. webi won't like non-unique labels if the keys are different.. How does it look with the default 'key and text' (medium) setting?
yes you can change the characteristic display properties in Bex query designer, but i have a funny feeling that it doesn't get consumed by webi over that API. (it's native OLAP stuff for BEx really...)

Presentation Layer - Custom Display Name

We use Oracle Datamarts as Data Source thus in our Repository a lot of information is just routed through. Of course we configured the joins in the physical layer and added some hierarchies, joins and calculated measures to the business model.
The question is now where to set the right column names which the end users will see (translation from technical column names to business column names). Normally I read that the naming should be done in the business model and then can be copied to the presentation model.
Is there any reason why not to leave alle the technical column names through to the presentation model and just to do the naming with the Custom Display Names? This had the advantage that we could rename the column display names and the reports never had to be modified.

The main reason could be this:
If the attribute has been used in multiple subject areas, there is no need to go each subject areas and rename them, instead a one time rename in Business Modeling layer will do the work. Eg. Suppose there is a common dimension, say, Supplier/Customer/Time which are used in multiple subject areas. Renaming in Business modeling layer will be easier than going to each subject areas and rename them in presentation.

How do I change custom field description and name on the project fields PDP

I'm creating a custom PDP for a workflow process and I need to add the folloiwng fields "Project Name" and "Description"
When I try to create Project Name custom field under server settings I get the following message "The custom field name cannot match the name of any intrinsic fields."
So I went to the PDP web part Project fields and I found a field named " Project Name". I added it to the Proejct Fields web part, but it displays as "Name".
How can I change this field that's out of the box? I don't see "Project Name" and "Description" under server settings > Enterprise Custom Fields and Lookup Tables to modify them.

Hi there,
Project Name & description fields are internal fields in project server which you cannot view in Enterprise custom fields in PWA. You will not be able to create with the similar name. There is no way to change these fields as far as I know.
I would suggest to have the new fields name something like Project_Name/ ProjName or Project_Description/ProjDescription .

Need help for displaying key and description in Dropdown (ABAP WEBDYNPRO)

Hi Experts,
I am using dropdown as a table field. For this dropdown I want to display the value as well as description.
In ALV table when we create a dropdown dynamically in table field, there is a method SET_KEY_VISIBLE in class CL_SALV_WD_UIE_DROPDOWN_BY_KEY.
But I think we cannot use similar method for normal dropdown field in table.
Is there any way we can display both value and description in dropdown value set ?

Hi,
I think there is no such option. You need to consider one variable type string and while populating the
valueset fill this variable by concatenating the value and description and assign it the key and value
pair of the valueset.
DATA:

    loop at lit_country into ls_country.
      concatenate ls_country-value ls_country-text into lv_str separated by space.
      ls_value_set-value = lv_str.

Installation of 27" cinema display with macbook pro silver key and bootcamp

For everyone out there who may be interested in using the new 27" cinema display with an older Macbook Pro Intel with silver keys and bootcamp.
What is needed:
1. Apple 27" cinema display.
2. Macbook pro Intel silver key model
3. Altona Dual Link DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter (Model AT-DP400)
4. Bootcamp 3.1 drivers from Mac OSX Snow Leopard V10.6.3(retail)
Procedure:
1. Update your display software on the Mac OS side. Apple has posted an update on their software downloads page, "LED Cinema Display Software Update 1.0" After doing so, make sure that the 27" CinDisp is operating correctly and you can change the brightness from the system settings.
2. On the Windows side, install the bootcamp 3.1 drivers. These are on the Snow Leopard distribution CD. However, there is a bug in the .msi installer that causes the installation to go into an endless loop. This must be resolved during the installation of the drivers. The following article discribes how to do this:

I have the same MBP and recently bought a 23" cinema display on Craigslist for $140. It works great. I had a display port to DVI adapter and it worked fine. Built a stand to hold the laptop vertically so it's out of the way. Don't know about older displays but anything with DVI should work fine.
The screen size and resolution are great for photo editing. I now have the best of both worlds, a display that rivals my wife's iMac and portability.

Depriciation key and useful life periods in asset master should in display mode only

At the time of creation asset master AS01 we are given the Asset class, company code and similar of asset (1) then we click enter button we will get Create asset: master data screen here in general tab we enter the description and in time dependent tab we enter cost center manually
But
When we click on Depreciation tab here the Depreciation key and use life fields are automatically come with Dep.key(ABC) and use life(15) (Because we maintained in OAYZ)
Here user have a chance to change the Dep.key(ABC) and use life(15).so my requirement is these two fields are display with only display mode .

The screen layout for Asset and its depreciation tab are different. You have to make these fields as Display only in the screen layout. This can be done using T-Code AO21. Below are the screenshots for the path and screen layout for your reference. This should solve your issue

</html>am displaying taxCodes(in this case i have VAT and ICD) fine but cant figure out how to display a list of value for each taxCode.Here is the output am getting
both in my JSP and on the console:

yes i need a nested for loop.I have tried your advice but my bean properties are not found.Am getting this error:

I have tried this as stated earlier in the post:I have tried to make the method getItemTaxDetails return a List and get the returned list value as taxDetails. I then tested to display this list on JSP and its displaying fine.

Web reporting - variable selection should be display as key and description

hi experts,
Can anybody tell me the solution for my issue. My isssue is , in the web reporting, i have variable company code, i am selecting the company code thru search help. the values for company code is displaying with key.
the new requirement should be displayed with key and description.
I have checked in the bex, the properties of company code has maintained as key. when i run the report when cas selet as key and descritption. bex is not a probelm.
only the problew with webreports, can anybody give some inptus on my issue.
Any help is appreciated. waiting for your response.
