Key Apple software programs not running after install

Hola
I have an Intel Mac Book Pro that has recently had a hard disk failure( 3rd in 5 years) and subsequent replacement. Before the failure I had , rather stupidly , upgraded to 10.8 (bought from Apple online) which caused my machine to run at an almost constant beach-ball status. Anyway it fell over, drive replaced and today i reinstalled 10.6 from my original upgrade disks. I also tried to reinstall ILife and IWork. However I'm informed that I'm unable to do so unless i upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8. This is useless. My machine falls over when you use 10.8. I have paid foe and own 10.6 original disks, however I'm unable to install the Life and Work programs. In addition I'm unable to re-install my contacts, notes, calendar.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how i can continue to run the 10.6 associated programs.
Rather ironically the Microsoft programs re-installed perfectly!
Help please....

The problem is actually that Leopard's VNC server only supports 32 bit color. If your client tries to request a lower resolution the connection will fail. It doesn't work on my pocket pc VNC client either.
Chicken of the VNC still works if you enable 'let server decide' on the resolution. I agree though, this seems like a downgrade to me.

  • WSUS 3.0 SP2 will not run after installing update 2720211

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2720211
The update was installed and server rebooted.  Now the WSUS console on Server 2008 SP2 will not run.  "Error: Connection Error.  An error occurred trying to connect to WSUS server."
The update service and IIS are both running.
When checking for updates from clients, they  show a message saying their update software needs to be upgraded, but they fail updating.
I was going to uninstall the update, but there is no option to uninstall the update from the WSUS server.
What are options to fix this?

This page helped alot. Let me recap for others on the interwebs.
    Cause:
    - Applied KB2720211 to a WSUS 3.0 SP2 server thats running on Windows 2008 64 bit server with local SQL db.
    What happened:
    - I could no longer sync my WSUS server with the interwebs.
    - clients could still connect to WSUS and I could still open the WSUS console.
    - Uninstalled WSUS, left DB and downloads and reinstalled WSUS in attempt to fix broken syncing.
    - Clients could now no longer sync with WSUS server. (They got Windows Update error code 800B0001).
    Solution:
    - Googled, found this page.
    - Followed just these last few steps that Chucker2 posted.
Extract necessary files from 2720211 installer
Download the KB2720211 installer for your architecture from Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2720211)
Extract WUSSetup.msp from the installer by running the installer with the /extract parameter (example: "WSUS-KB2720211-x64.exe /extract")
    With 7-zip, open WUSSetup.msp and extract "PCW_CAB_SUS".
With 7-zip, open "PCW_CAB_SUS" and extract "DbCert", "DbCertDll", and "DbCertSql".
Rename those files to "WSUSSignDb.cer", "WSUSSignDb.dll", and "WSUSSignDb.sql", respectively.
On your WSUS server, navigate to "C:\Windows\SYSMSI\SSEE\MSSQL.2005\MSSQL\SchemaSig" and copy the extracted "WSUSSignDb.cer" and "WSUSSignDb.dll" to it. Make a backup copy of the two existing versions, just in case.
On your WSUS server, navigate to "C:\Program Files\Update Services\Database" and copy the extracted "WSUSSignDb.sql" to it. Make a backup copy of any existing versions of the file.
    Reinstalled 2720211
PROBLEM FIXED AND CLIENTS COULD ALL SYNCH AGAIN.
    Thanks Chucker 2.
ps. Susan Bradley stop polluting every WSUS post on the interwebs with your constant links to WSUS KB2720211 : Common issues
encountered and how to fix them
this is the best solution. after reboot the problem is solved .

  • Programs not opening after install

Alright... I am brand new to Linux operating systems (about roughly 2 days now, and making the switch from MS to Arch). after scouring the forums and the wiki I still can't open up the packages that I installed from the AUR,core, community, or extra repo's... I have tried opening up a terminal session and typing in the program name, but that didn't work, I have gone into the /bin folder and still nothing there either... where/how could I open the files that I installed on my system? If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated..Thanks

  • VNC software not running after install of Leopard

After I installed Leopard last week Chicken of VNC is not connecting to remoter site. any other people having this problem? Chicken says it is trying to use port 5901. I know before it was using 5900. Is there a place I can change this?

The problem is actually that Leopard's VNC server only supports 32 bit color. If your client tries to request a lower resolution the connection will fail. It doesn't work on my pocket pc VNC client either.
Chicken of the VNC still works if you enable 'let server decide' on the resolution. I agree though, this seems like a downgrade to me.

  • Premiere Elements 12 will not run after install

Long time Premire and Premiere Elements user.  Had been using PE 9 earlier this week.  Yesterday purchased PE 12.  Before even downloading, to avoid any potential conflicts, I uninstalled PE 9, then installed PE12.  After reboot, I attempted to launch the application.  it fails.
Based on http://forums.adobe.com/message/6329465#6329465 I did not find any prefs files, but removed (both) 12.0 directories in an attempt to help things along.  Nothing.
When I attempt to launch PE 12, "create new project" it just hangs.  This is the dump from Windows in the "stopped working" dialog box:

Help is greatly appreciated.  I have a project I need to edit and post today if possible.  Would like to get this working ASAP.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks for letting us know of the outcome of your contact with Adobe.
I do not work for Adobe nor am I affliated with it in any way. Just a user in a user to user forum.
In my troubleshooting of various Premiere Elements has have not yet run into a connection between the  dvamarshal.dll and the computer's video card/graphics card. But, video card/graphics card compatibility issues can cause the type of problems that you see in the program.
What video card/graphics card does your computer use? Under Device Manager/Display Adapters/, do you see only one card listed or two? Assuming that the card(s) are up to date, then please try the following. We are going to delete the BadDrivers.txt file for Premiere Elements 12. In Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, it can be found
    Local Disk C
    Program Data
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
and in the Premiere Elements Folder is the BadDrivers.txt file that you delete. In this Premiere Elements Folder are folders besides this BadDrivers.txt file. You do not want anything in the folders in the Premiere Elements Folder, only the file named BadDrivers.txt file. (When you open a new project, the program will generate a new BadDrivers.txt file and hopefully all will be resolved.) Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
The rationale behind the above approach is explained in the following older thread (post 10). BadDrivers.txt deletion has proven to be a life saver for those with display issues in 9 as well as later versions.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/732067
About reverting to Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1....
We can get tryout files for 9 from the following web site, and you can insert your purchased serial number in them....
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-9-premiere-elements-9-direct-download-links.h tml
You have to read the instructions very carefully so that you do not get hit with an Access Denied message.
But, we need to get your purchased serial number. If you registered Premiere Elements 9 with Adobe, you should be able to see it at http://www.adobe.com under "My Products".
Please review and consider the above and then we can decide what troubleshooting strategy needs to be developed.
    Thanks.

  • Program not Responding after installing PSE8

    I recently upgraded to PSE8.
Since then I have noticed that when I go to shutdown my system (XP w/ SP3) I get
a window indicating a program is not responding. The title of the window is
'End Program - 9c0'. The '9c0' part is not always the same.
Last night it was 960. I've checked before the shutdown to see if there is any application
or process with a number like that and I have never found one.
I believe I keep my system free of viruses, etc. but I did do a complete virus scan
with Avast as well as Symantec. Plus spyware checks by AdAware and SpyBot.
I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed anything like this?

I have the same problem.  I'm running XP SP/3, and after I installed PhotoShopElements my machine hangs at shutdown until I kill a running process.  The problem goes away if I stop ElementsOrganizerSynchAgent.exe.  So for now, my solution is to set the service to start manually.
Any chance of getting a fix?  The program I assume performs a needed function, and I'm now without it.

  • Fix for Photoshop not running after install

    Hi all,
I recently purchased Photoshop CC and tried to install it on my home built computer that has an SSD for the OS and an HDD for my installed programs.  When I went to run Photoshop after I installed it, it gave me an error message saying that it could not find a good version of Adobe Application Manager, saying it was damaged or broken.  After numerous attempts to fix the problem, an Adobe technical support team member named Arul copied the Adobe folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files to my HDD E:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files.  Following this Photoshop and Lightroom booted up without a hitch.
Hope this helps anyone with the same issue!@

Hi, I am new in Crystal Report. We just purchased Crystal Report XI developer kit, and I installed it on a windows 2003 server with sp II. But when I go to program file-> BusinessObjects XI->Crystal Reports->Crystal Reports XI to try to launch Crystal Report, nothing show up, not even an error message. I did unistall and reinstall the software again once, but still the same. On the server, there is .NET framework 2.0.
Anybody please help how to make Crystal Report XI up running.
    Thanks,

    Ludek,
I am quite confused too. I could not find about | help anywhere related to Cyrstal Report. I wish I could attach an image to show you if I can. Here is what it looks like if I go to programs
    from start->programs ->
    BusinessObjects XI -> Crystal Reports----
    >Crystal Reports for .Net Samples
    Crystal Reports XI  -
    Business Objects License Manager -
    Crystal Reports XI
    Registration Wizard
    Report Designer Component Samples
If I go to Business Objects License Manager, the first line of the window is
    Product: Crystal Reports Developer
I am not sure if this can help you understand what I have.

  • Insert key of keyboard is not working after installing firefox

I was using IE8 as my browser before but recently changed to Firefox. My keyboard was functioning perfectly before I installed Firefox. Now whenever I type text (mostly when composing a message/draft in Google's gmail or Hotmail) the Insert key of the keyboard is not working. This is just not a problem in Gmail or Hotmail but with all programmes!!

Firefox is always in insert mode and doesn't support overwriting text, so you will have to use the Delete or Backspace key to remove unwanted characters.

  • Hp scanner software does not open after installing 10.4.8

Your help, please...since installing OS 10.4.8 my HP scanner software (5370c) does not open. It appears to begin opening and the icon appears briefly on the Dock, but does not stay there.
Also, the keyboard does not light up in low-light conditions as it did previously. Yes, I have the box checked in the keyboard section of system preferences. (It is a brand new keyboard, recently replaced, but the lighting worked under OS 10.3.9.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for your help,
