Key boards set up
Some times I have the keys on the side and other times it a standard board how do I switch between the two
Do you mean sometimes the keyboard is split in half ? If so then you can drag the two halves back together using a finger on each half, and similarly you can then split the keyboard into two halves by using a finger on either side to drag it apart. Or do you mean something else ?

My baby must of hit a combination of keys while no one was looking and i don`t have use of some of my keys any more it`s like my function setting on the key board is stuck on. It only does it while in firefox though my keyboard works normally otherwise

Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application and you may have changed the keyboard layout by accident via a keyboard shortcut.

The default keys to rotate the layout is a combination (Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift) that can easily be used in Firefox to activate a menu item.<br />
To avoid an unintentional switch, assign a specific key sequence (Alt/Ctrl+Shift+number) to select keyboard layouts and remove the key combination to rotate layouts (Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift)

while using my aftermarket (Brookstone) IPAD 2 key board the circular search icon never stops moving (setting tab, "Bluetooth" connect)...is that because the Bluetooth is always in the "search" mode while the keypad is in use?
This is the same experience I see with both my iPad and iPhone. Doesn't seem to cause battery drain, so I just don't worry about it. My bluetooth devices work and if yours do as well, just don't worry about it.

I am having trouble.I can't even set my Touch back up. I can type on the key board. I try to touch one key and a bunch go. I don't even have to touch the screen.

- Reset all settings (if you can)
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem

Restating my issue / question...
When I send email from this iMac, there is a string of characters assigned. The characters are all the "alpha numeric" characters on the QWERTY key board. This only occurs when email is sent from this iMac. The issue does not manifest when using any other lap top or computer.
Hence, I have ruled out the issue is a yahoo mail matter.
Again, I can access the Yahoo mail account form multiple devices and send email without unintended assignment of character strings, but when I send wmail using this iMac, the issue happens everytime.
Characters are stacked verticaly in a column. It looks as if all characters (except function keys) are included in the string.
Any ideas?

These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
Step 2

This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
Step 3

Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
You can then quit Terminal. -
all web pages appear with a blinking cursor like in a "word document". i can't scroll down or up using the buttons of my key board. i have to pull down the scroll bar. something in settings has changed. how to correct it??

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you can disable the F7 shortcut that toggles caret browsing by setting the pref accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled to false.
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. -

Key board of dv6 is not working properly

key board use to malfunction like if i type a the cap lock goes on , if type d something else comes on screen(some of those keys are working fine but some are totally mixed up ), previously it was fine but once i tried to clean the fan with pressurised air without opening any of those screw ( dit it from outside ) then it happened , any suggestion will be welcomedHum. Cleaning off the keyboard with air should not have made the keyboard not function properly. I would recommend working though this document to make sure the keyboard language is set up properly:

All the help on message boards says Alt/Option plus 3 should work. Not for me it doesn't.
I can't change it in system preferences.

Assigned F key to play an action does not work to play the action on an image. When the F key is selected it seams to control computer attributes rather than the play action assigned in photoshop. Why? Using cs6 iMac and wireless key board.

I USE KEY BOARD EXPRESS TO RUN TOURS FOR A GIN LEAGUE I BELONG TO. AS A HOST FOR GIN GAMES I USE THIS TO RUN MY RULES ECT FOR THE GAMES I AM SETTING. Does Firefox not respond at all, or is the wrong thing happening in Firefox?
Does Keyboard Express run purely externally (just sends hotkeys to Firefox) or does it have an add-on? You can check to make sure any add-ons are enabled on the Add-ons page. Here's how:
Open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
(1) In the left column, click Plugins.
If anything here is related to Keyboard Express, trying change it from "Ask to Activate" to "Always Activate". This might not take full effect until the next time you exit and start Firefox up again.
(2) In the left column, click Extensions.
If an extension is disabled, it appears at the end of the list on a gray background. If you find one related to Keyboard Express, you can use the Enable button to re-enable it. If Firefox will not allow that, you may need to update the extension. -
I am not getting any sound on my iPad while using key board or in any games

Discoverable key board and mouse
Hello,
My new computer starts the day unable to find mouse or key board.
I find it to be a stupid computer, every time I
check my email on my website it says the site is unknown and has no security, I asked the web hosting company and it says Mac has a problem, not them.
I don't really care if Mac routes everything through various national spy agencies but I would like to avoid plugging and unplugging the mouse and keyboard several times per day.

GarrettI have discovered a detail which may be helpful.
1) I plugged the mouse into a usb port on the computer and it always works.
2) With this expanded ability I can force quite the searching for a wireless keyboard set up window.
Then everything is okay.

Spotlight will not remember key board shortcut
I can not get spotlight to open using my keyboard short cuts.
I set them to 'option' 'space' and when I close the 'system preferences' and try using 'option' 'space' -- nothing happens. When I go back in to the spotlight system preferences -- my key board shortcuts are gone.no that's not the case. when I re-open system preferences and click on 'spotlight' (and takes about 45 second to load and open spotlight preferences, strange it's soooo slow to open) -- and I look at the 'spotlight menu keyboard shortcut' -- the earlier assign value 'control space' (using the dropdown) is cleared. I can re-assign it to 'contol space' and then try using 'control space' but nothing happens.

my wireless key board doesn't seem to communication with my computer even though bluetooth shows it is connected. I have changed the batteries on the keyboard and when turn on the key board the green lights comes on shortly and disappears. Can any one help?
