Key changes in Loops

Can the key be changed during the song using loops? ie. in the key of A, can I make the loop change to D and E?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Yes.(but only if it's midi, audio will sound like crap changing the key.) Double click the region you want to change the key of. When the region's window pops up from the bottom, go to, on the left hand side, where it says "region pitch" drag that slider to the approprate place to change it to the key you want.

  • Changing key of a loop?

Can I change the key of a loop (say, from A to D) to accompany tune, so that the same loop is used in the track in different keys?

    Yes, you can.
Add a new copy of your loop to the track in the timeline, select it, and in the track editor enable "follow tempo and pitch" (for real instrument loops) and adjust the pitch slider. You will see the transposition in the lower left corner of the loop (in half note steps).

  • Apple loops not folloiwng key changes

They follow tempo changes, but not key changes. Using both "green" and "blue" loops from the Loop Browswer, as well some audio takes I recorded and converted to Apple Loops using the Loop Utility. Same result for all.
    Ideas? Thanks.

thanks.. heres a another question now that i have it making the changes.
is there a way to select what follows the changes and what doesnt. for example
I edit my drum tracks in phatmatik and then bring the midi files into logic. I don't want them to change, because the drums sounds would be off and in some case triggering no sounds.
    thanks

  • Changing the key in apple loops

Most of the loops that came with my GB2 are in "C".. is
there any way to change each loop to a different major
    key.. say "G" or "A"

Open the track Info DialogBox (The "I"nfo button), click the Master Track button at the top of the DialogBox, and enter a new Key in the field. All loop dropped into your song will transpose to the key of your song.
If you're creating a new song, simply set the key when you create it, loops will again transpose to the key your song is in

  • Changing keys in apple loops

I just bought GB3. I can make simple songs with loops and I have no problem using my guitar via Imic. Is there a way to change the keys on the loops? For example, if I am recording a simple blues progression of C,F G and using the same drum loop I want to use C, D, G, C. So far, I haven't figured out how to do this. Is it possible?
    Thanks
    Kenny

You can adjust the loop's pitch in halftone steps with a slider in the editor window. So if you have a loop in C, setting the slider to +5 (or -7) will turn it to F, +7 (or -5) to G.
Don't expect spectacular results, though. Pitch-shifting an audio loop also alters its tonal characteristics, anything beyond 2 steps tends to sound unnatural.

  • Changing key in Logic Loops...

I'm able to change key in the loops, but once I drag that loop, in it's changed key, to my track, the sound reverts back to the original key. How do I record the loop in the changed key? Thanks!

Select the region and choose Region > Bounce in place
or solo the track and set the cycle area to fit the region (apple loop) and choose file > Bounce

hi all. When pressed play and make some changes in loop (eg fade in fade out) are very slow to implement, and also the loops from the library are very slow to play, corrects the somewhat self so is the Logic??

    Hey there Logic Pro21,
It sounds like you are seeing some odd performance issues with Logic Pro X. I recommend these troubleshooting steps specifically from the following article to help troubleshoot what is happening:
    Logic Pro X: Troubleshooting basics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5859
Verify that your computer meets the system requirements for Logic Pro X
See Logic Pro X Technical Specifications.
Test using the computer's built-in audio hardware
If you use external audio hardware, try setting Logic Pro X to use the built-in audio hardware on your computer. Choose Logic Pro X > Preferences > Audio from the main menu and click the Devices tab. Choose the built in audio hardware from the Input Device and Output Device pop-up menus. If the issue is resolved using built-in audio, refer to the manufacturer of your audio interface.
Start Logic with a different project template
Sometimes project files can become damaged, causing unexpected behavior in Logic. If you use a template, damage to the template can cause unexpected results with any project subsequently created from it. To create a completely fresh project choose File > New from Template and select Empty Project in the template selector window. Test to see if the issue is resolved in the new project.
Sometimes, issues with the data in a project can be repaired. Open an affected project and open the Project Information window with the Project Information key command. Click Reorganize Memory to attempt to repair the project. When you reorganize memory, the current project is checked for any signs of damage, structural problems, and unused blocks. If any unused blocks are found, you will be able to remove these, and repair the project. Project memory is also reorganized automatically after saving or opening a project.
    Delete the user preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
    Restart the computer.
Isolate an issue by using another user account
For more information see Isolating an issue by using another user account.
    Reinstall Logic Pro X
Another approach you might consider is reinstalling Logic Pro X. To do this effectively, you need to remove the application, then reinstall Logic Pro X. You don't have to remove everything that was installed with Logic Pro X. Follow the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Logic Pro X.
In the Finder, choose Applications from the Go menu.
Locate the Logic Pro X application and drag it to the trash.
    Open the Mac App Store
Click the Purchases button in the Mac App Store toolbar.
Sign in to the Mac App Store using the Apple ID you first used to purchase Logic Pro X.
Look for Logic Pro X in the list of purchased applications in the App Store. If you don't see Logic Pro X in the list, make sure it's not hidden. See Mac App Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases for more information.
Click Install to download and install Logic Pro X.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • How do I do a key change from one section to another?

My latest song is in the key of E minor but the prechorus is in C.  When I switch the key for the prechorus it switches it for the entire song.  Is there a way to have the key be specific to a section?

Lucky you, they just sort of fixed this kinda, if you're willing to do some gymnastics.  By using the new import feature they added the other day, you can export your intro in the key you want, create a second song in the new key, then import your export as a recording (purple clip) which has both the loss and benefit of not being able to adjust to tempo or key changes the way instruments (green clips) and loops (blue clips) can.
For a better explanation see the help file under:  Build a GarageBand Song / Edit Regions

  • RE_RHTRANS0 usage for mass language key changes

    Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to use RE_RHTRANS0 for mass language key changes, i.e. to have it as a background job?
I tried to execute RHTRANS0 or RHTRANS0_NO_ALV in the background, but the translation record is not getting created. I think because report output requires an additional manual step to select a row and save. Is there a way to skip this step and automatically change language key for all records in the output?
    Thank you.
    Erika

    Hi,
Could you please tell more about your solution? I understand how is possible "to press" save button in batch input but how you can automatically fill all not-translated fields in target language with texts from source language?
    Thanks

  • Smart guitar chord bug with key change??

I think there is a bug in the smart guitar chord selection when changing the song key.
    Could someone try this...
Song key set to C major.
Select smart guitar and strum the strings of the Em chord. Now hit the Em chord button to auto strum... sounds the same. So far so good.
Now change song key to C minor.
Do the same for the now Eb chord.. when strumming the strings it still sounds an Em. But notice hitting the chord button plays Eb.
Does anyone else hear this? (it's not only that chord that is wrong)

Thanks guys, I reported it to apple.
It's even more unpredictable though. It seems to me that on a key change the auto strum buttons play the correct chord (not being a musican I am not sure if this is even true, and now I certainly don't trust what it says).
It seems to me that it's the strings that don't get updated properly. Some do, some don't, some do after playing a different chord or playing the chord with the chord button.
Example, between the key of C major and C minor as. before you have a G and a Gm chord.
Play the chord and strum it in C major and it should sound the same.
Change to C minor and without playing any other note or chord, strum Gm... it's still playing G, wrong.
Now strum any other chord and then strum Gm again.,.Now it has suddenly corrected and does play Gm.
As a quick test I changed key to D (major or minor I can't remember) and practically every single strummed chord is wrong.
All I can say is Apples test procedures are woefully inadequate. This is an embarrassment.

  • Key change

    Hi,
I'm working on a recording which has two key changes in the middle of it and I need to use Pitch Correction on the vocal, but can't see how I can make it work as the key changes. I may be blind in finding the answer, so if any LP8 buddies out there can give me some info, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Terry

    Hi
create new tracks for each section of key change, use different settings on each instance of Pitch Corrector. Or take a look at Melodyne, it's saved my bacon many times.

  • Peer's RSA keys change after reboot - workaround

Looks like a couple of builds back - you messed up the peer key renegotiation/update when using the RSA keys authentication method.  Every time a network member reboots, the key changes, and each of it's peers have to update their key manually. The workaround, for all others who are afflicted with this problem, is to change the Authentication method to Password, and then setup a shared password for all peers in the mesh. This is less than desirable, of course, I'm hoping Hamachi fixes this soon ...

    Hi,
Actually the problem is fixed in yesterday's 2.2.0.385 release.
The build is available from the website.
You will need to accept keys one more time after updating, but they will not be lost after a restart anymore.
