Key Differences between Essbase System 9 and 11
Hi,
I understand that there are several architectural underpinnings that are different between system 9 and system 11. The other day a business user asked me to point out key differences between system 9 and 11.
the first thing that jumped at me was the thin client architecture, where you dont have to install EAS or Studio on to user system..
Can anyone help me tabulate the key differences interms of end user functionality and in terms of developer interfaces.
any inputs would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
Here are some things I particularly like about System11 Essbase
<li>Ability to store text and dates as measure values (intersection data)
<li>Lifecycle Management & Lifecycle Management API
<li>Single click backup and restore
<li>Attributes that can be changed over time to preserve historical data
<li>ASO Maxl data slice clearing & inversion
<li>Ability to use Environment Variables
<li>Implied Share override
<li>@DateDiff and @DatePart
Here is a comprehensive list of the System 11 new features:

What is the difference between Business System and Business Service?
Hi
Please tell me what is the difference between Business System and Business Service...? In real time at what situation we will use Business System and in what situations we will use Business Service..? Please help me
Best Regards
Ravi Shankar BHI,
Business system:
If you want to address a particular business system as the sender or receiver of messages, choose this service type.
A business system is an actual application system in a system landscape. A business system (service) comprises information about the inbound and outbound interfaces and the software component versions of the business system.
You usually use business system services when configuring internal company processes.
Business Service:
If you want to address an abstract business entity as the sender or receiver of messages, choose this service type.
Using a business service, you can define the technical or business subunits of the companies involved and then assign them the relevant interfaces.
You usually use business services when configuring cross-company processes. In this case, you only make your interfaces known to the business partners involved and either do not make any details about your own system landscape available, or only specific details.
For example, you can define RosettaNet Partner Interface Processes (PIPs) as business services.

Difference between Business system and Business service.
Hi All,
Can any one explain in detail difference between Business system and Business service.
As we commonly say, Business service is for those system which are not in our landscape.
Can any one explain in which particular scenarios we will go for Business Service.
Reg
BapurajHi Bapuraj,
Business System
Business system is a logical system, and there is an importance on physical existence of the system. Also SLD entry is required.
It is generally used for SAP applications, this is just a general prinicple followed but not mandatory.
Business Component(formerly Service)
You use a Business Component, when you do not have the System details of the the partner system to which you want to communicate. i.e. you have not configured the partner system in SLD.
Business Service is an Absract Unit with Sender and Receiver Interfaces,In this case you need to explicitly add the message interfaces while doing configuration in ID.
It is generally used for NON-SAP applications, this is just a general prinicple followed but not mandatory.

Whats the actual difference between Business system and Business service
whats the actual difference between Business system and Business service
Business System
1) Business system is a logical system, and there is an importance on physical existence of the system.
2) Also SLD entry is required.
3)It is generally used for SAP applications, this is just a general prinicple followed but not mandatory.
4)This is defined as part of the SLD and is a physical system whose parameters are well defined.
5(Business systems refers to the physical systems, for instance the R/3 system. You define the business systems in the SLD
Business Service
1) You use a Business Service, when you do not have the System details of the the partner system to which you want to communicate. i.e. you have not configured the partner system in SLD.
2) Business Service is an Absract Unit with Sender and Receiver Interfaces,In this case you need to explicitly add the message interfaces while doing configuration in ID.
3) It is generally used for NON-SAP applications, this is just a general prinicple followed but not mandatory.
4) This is not defined as part of SLD and whose technical parameters are not completely known.
5)Business service is used when the message is not addressed to a business system. It is used mostly in B2B scenarios.

Key differences between 11g r1 and 11g r2
What are key differences between Oracle EE 11g r1 and 11g r2?
Also, there seems to be a typical perception that 11g R1 has "lot of bugs". Is that a statement out of proportion?
Thanks,

Also, there seems to be a typical perception that 11g R1 has "lot of bugs". Is that a statement out of proportion? That's not meant only for 11gr1 or 11gr2. There would be always bugs with the new features introduced in any X version which would be taken care in Y version and then there would be new features introduced and thus the cycles goes on.

Difference between essbase technical and functional consultant
Hi Essbase/Planning gurus, i am new to hyperion essbase/planning, please help me on below questions.
1) Difference between essbase technical consultant and functional consultant (Roles)
2) Difference between Hyperion planning technical consultant and functional consultant (Roles)
Thanks in advance,
Raraju.Hello Raraju,
I will give it a try.
Essbase and Planning have technically a different concept of roles. I think, this was not your question about.
When looking at the job responsibilities of a technical consultant in Essbase then he/she will be responsible for the server. Take care that it is running performant, has sufficient resources etc.. The person will monitor log files for possible or upcoming problems. Further, the person will set-up connections to other data sources if needed. The person will know about the OS, Networks, Webservers and the technical side of Essbase/Planning.
The functional consultant will know the details of the application(s) and will maintain them for the users. He/she will create changes to the application and helps the users to use the product. The person will know about finance/controlling and the application side of Essbase/Planning.

Difference between Business System and Business Service in ID
There are some tiny little doubts for a newbie which usually appear and we don't really have the answer.
We know that sometimes we two ways to implement a process, and it works for the two ways, but we not always understand why.
This was one of my doubts, what was the great difference between a Business System and a Business Service...?
Of course I had a tiny little idea but now I have the answer and maybe it will be useful to anyone who questioned about it...
A Business System is defined in the SLD and is used as sender and receiver in the ID. However in some cases, the details of the implementing application are not available(in a B2B communication, where the system belongs to a different company. A Business Service represents an abstract entity for adressing the senders and receivers of messages. Therefore, when using Business Servces, it is no longer necessary to define any Business Systems in the SLD.Hi Goncalo,
one important difference is that a business service has no SLD entries and so also no assigned products/SWCVs. So the configuration in IB Directory can become uncomfortable if there a lot interfaces.

Difference between RFC, SYSTEM and AUDIT users?
Hi All,
Can you highlight the main differences between the following users:
RFC
SYSTEM
AUDIT
how do their functions differenciate them ?
Thanks in advance,
DiwakarRFC User
RFC user is basicly used to receive status messages. An RFC user has to be created in all the system clients where messages needs to be recieved. An RFC user can also be used for receiving messages using SMTP plug-in.
The RFC User is an sap user of type System and that's why no person can logon with this user on SAP System.
Following is thr procedure to create RFC User, remember the purpose is to recieve messages including status messages as well.
Creation of RFC User
Go to Tools > Administration > User Maintenance > Users.
Enter a name, for example MAIL_ADMIN.
Select "New"
On the Logon data tab page, select the user type System.
Enter a password.
On the Profiles tab page, enter the authorization profile S_A.SCON. This profile minimizes the risk of misuse, even if the communication system does not store the password is encoded form.
Select "Save"
Both RFC user and a System user are of type System only. Now the difference, depends upon the profile and authorization of the user.
Audit users are of type dialog, and can be used by a person to logon to system. There might be many roles assigned to this user. My understanding is that an Audit User is not a standard sap type user but just a dialog user and can be created with a conventional method of creating any other dialog users with a specific profile and authorizations.
Still to confirm, Can you please tell us, how many types of users does it shown in 4.6c at the time of user creation?

What is the difference between developement system and delivery system?
Hello Experts,
I have some questions regarding publishing the content on delivery system.
Could some one help me.
1) Can we use Development System as Delivery System?
2) Can we Publish a Site into Development System?
3) How to check whether the installation done in development mode or in delivery mode? I mean do we have any procedure to check ?
4) What are the Advantages of Delivery System over the Development System?
Note: I installed Webcenter sites11gR1 on Weblogic10.3 server and windows 7.
Thanks in advance
Rajendar.Rajendar Raj wrote:
I got the answers.
1) Can we use Development System as Delivery System?
Ans:
Yes, a development system contains the same functionality as a delivery system. Conversely a delivery system doesn't have a contributor interface so it cannot be used for managing assets.
Not recommended and it also depends on the sizing of your environment and tuning. Delivery systems usually are architected with performance in mind, depending on the expected load, logs are minimal and usually Remote Satellite Servers are added. Important as well is that no content or any assets is created directly on the delivery system, you might run into unique ID constrains when you publish content from Authoring to Delivery, in your case Development.
2) Can we Publish a Site into Development System?
Ans:
Yes, you can.
Be careful this is not recommended, you can run into unique id constraints issues
3) How to check whether the installation done in development mode or in delivery mode? I mean do we have any procedure to check ?
Ans:
Look in the ominstallinfo directory, in the location where WebCenter Sites was installed. there is a file called omii.ini that contains installation-time choices and parameters. Look for the parameter "Development"
- true, indicates it was a Development type install. Advanced UI will be available, as will the Contributor UI
- false, indicates it was a Delivery type install. Only Advanced UI will be available.
4) What are the Advantages of Delivery System over the Development System?
Ans:
A delivery type install is more secure, as the contributor UI and some other editorial components are not installed. It also prevents editors from changing content on the delivery system by mistake.
In general Delivery systems are architected different, more emphasis on performance, caching and security.

Difference betweeen Technical systems and Business systems
Hi
In a SLD we need to configure technical systems and Business systems.. what is the exact difference between Technical Systems and Business Systems..
this question is asked an interview.. for this.. how can we explain..
thanks
babuHi babu
First I let u know with analogy and actual definition as below
Any module of SAP like MM, SRM, FICO ets makes a logical system in combination according to business requirements is a business system which is actualy hosted on an application server like ABAP AS or Java AS which is basically a technical system.
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in system landscape (a CRM server, for example). Most systems (Web AS ABAP and Web AS Java systems) automatically report information to the SLD about the elements that they contain by using the SLD data supplier programs. You need to manually register the following types of system only:
Standalone Java systems
Third-party systems
Business systems are logical senders or receivers that exchange messages by using SAP XI and that are entered in the System Landscape Directory.
The business systems in the System Landscape Directory relate to a system landscape.
The business systems of business partners are not entered in the System Landscape Directory. To be able to address such business partners logically, use services in the Integration Directory. A business system is a way of specifying a service in the Integration Directory more precisely (business system service).
