.key file extension

Hi, a friend is visiting and needs to open a power point on my mac. I downloaded file and tried to open in microsoft office ppt, however the file format is .key and I've no idea what that is or what to do with it, all I know is I can't open it!! Help please???

Hi,
according to this http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/KEY the .key file could be one of three possibilities.
The (to me) only viable possibility seems to be that it is a Keynote file made with Apple Keynote app.
You can download the free trial of it here http://www.apple.com/iwork/

  • Keynote hides .key file extension on save - feature or bug?

    I haven't been able to track anything down about this in the forum...
    I've created a new file in Keynote '09, and saved it with the standard .key extension. When I open the file, edit it, and "save" it, Keynote hides the extension. If I go to the file in the Finder, select it and show info, and un-check "hide extension", the .key reappears as expected. But the next time I save it in Keynote, Keynote hides the extension again.
    I know that the new file format is really a .zip file, so that's why I'm wondering if this is supposed to be a feature even though it seems like a bug.
    Anyone have any insight on this?

    I've seen this in the past... someone else has posted it before and I tried the same thing. I think it IS a bug, so you should report it here.

  • Private key file from acs 3.3

    Hi All ,
               I have my SSL server certficate on my old acs 3.3.along with private key file , How i can export this private file with .pem extension from windows 2000 server , This private key file is not identified under certficate mmc console  , Because my acs application is being installed on a separate hardisk partion under D drive .
    file path : d:\Certificates\bh02cacsw02.pem
                 how i can export this.pem from that particular folder , Thank you

    Hi,
    i see that you have mentioned the path d:\Certificates\bh02cacsw02.pem.
    The private key will have an extension of .pvk.
    are you aware of the location where private key is stored?? if yes, you can directly copy the private key and export.
    I am bit confused of you requirement.. do you want to export the cert with the private key??
    You can check the cert in the ACScertStore folder in MMC.

  • How do I make the file extension (ie:  .tif, .jpg, .eps) in OS 9.2 visible?

    I'm trying to transfer files from an old G3 (OS 9.2) to a new G5 (OS 10.5.8). Most files do not show the extension in their name. For example, an Illustrator eps has the file name "layout_final". When I transfer it to the new machine, it recognizes it as an .EXE file and cannot open. If I type in the .eps file extension, where is now reads "layout_final.eps", it then opens in Illustrator. I don't want to have to resort to manually adding in the file extension to every file. Is there a way in OS 9.2 to automatically show/turn on the extension in the file name?
    Thanks for the help!
    Steve

    How are you transferring the files ?
    It sounds like you're going through some sort of Windows / DOS formatted media.
    If you can network the two Macs together instead, do so.
    If you can burn a CD or two on the Mac G3, do so.
    If you have to use a USB stick, format it to Mac HFS Extended (aka HFS+) on either and use that.
    The key is that if you transfer the files using something formatted for Mac, the file metadata should not be lost, and the files will appear on the G5 as expected, assuming that you have suitable apps to open the files in OSX 10.5

  • Import images grid does not show file extension

    I use Aperture in a "referenced" mode. At times, I have jpeg files in the same folder as my nef files (which had already been imported into Aperture). The import images list does not have (or I cannot find out how to display) the file name that shows the file extension too. Of the data available, i can scroll to the right and see a lot of different metadata in the list, but not the file extension.
    Does anyone know how to have the file extension displayed in the list that is shown when trying to import?
    thanks

    Aperture can display just about anything you would like to display. The key is putting the correct field into the metadata set for that is being used for the browser or viewer that is active (you can have two ready to go and switch between them or none with a shortcut key)
    This should tell you everything you ever didn't want to know

  • Problems with specifying File Extension of E-Mail attachment

    Hi everybody
    I have a problem that seems to be so simple that it almost drives me crazy that I cannot find a solution for it.
    I need to send the content of an internal table (some lines) as a mail attachment to a specified mail address.
    The format should be normal ASCII, so when I open it with any text editor (e.g. Notepad),  I want to have all my lines there (including CR/LF).
    The problem now is - The extension of this mail attachment must be ".key", so the attached file should have the name "L_12345.key" (for example).
    For E-Mailing I use FM "SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1".
    This part works fine, also the attachment part works in general.  (I receive the mail and I receive the attachment).
    BUT I get either an attachment with the name "L_12345.txt" or "L_12345.key.txt" and in correct format, or I get an attachment "L_12345.key", where the name is correct but format is wrong (no CR/LF - everything in one line).
    Example:
    =======
    Attachment-Content should be:
    Line 1
    Line 2
    Line 3
    Name of Attachment should be: L_12345.key
    What I tried:
    TEST 1 **
    Declare Attachment in Packing list. ..
      ls_packing_list-transf_bin   = ' '.
      ls_packing_list-head_start   = 1.
      ls_packing_list-head_num     = 0.
      ls_packing_list-body_start   = 7.  "Startline of Attachment
      ls_packing_list-body_num     = 3.  "No of Attachment lines
      ls_packing_list-doc_type     = 'RAW'.
      ls_packing_list-doc_size     = 3 * 255.
      ls_packing_list-obj_name     = 'ATT01'.
      ls_packing_list-obj_descr    = 'L_12345'   "Attachment name
      APPEND ls_packing_list TO lt_packing_list.
    ==> Result: Attachment Filename = L_12345.txt
    ==> File as I need it (ASCII with CR/LF), but extension wrong
        Line 1
        Line 2
        Line 3
    TEST 2 **
    Same as TEST 1, but with:
      ls_packing_list-obj_descr    = 'L_12345.KEY'   "Attachment name
    ==> Result: Attachment Filename = L_12345.KEY.txt
    ==> File as I need it (ASCII with CR/LF), but extension wrong
        Line 1
        Line 2
        Line 3
    TEST 3 **
    Declare Attachment in Packing list. ..
      ls_packing_list-transf_bin   = ' '.
      ls_packing_list-head_start   = 1.
      ls_packing_list-head_num     = 0.
      ls_packing_list-body_start   = 7.  "Startline of Attachment
      ls_packing_list-body_num     = 3.  "No of Attachment lines
      ls_packing_list-doc_type     = 'KEY'.
      ls_packing_list-doc_size     = 3 * 255.
      ls_packing_list-obj_name     = 'ATT01'.
      ls_packing_list-obj_descr    = 'L_12345'. "Attachment name
      APPEND ls_packing_list TO lt_packing_list.
    ==> Result: Attachment Filename = L_12345.KEY
    ==> File Format is wrong:
        Line 1          Line 2     Line3
    I have tried several other Extensions (DOC_TYPE), it seems, that the File format is only correct with "RAW", but it seems with "RAW" SAP adds ".txt" as extension to the filename.
    Does anyone know how I can achieve having an e-mail attachment with multiple text lines and name "<anyname>.key"
    Any help (if possible with example code ?) would be highly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Harald

  • Is there any documentation on creating .key files programmatically?

    I am a programmer, and while I love keynote for presentations, I would much prefer to generate .key files via programs.
    There is a document that talks about this, and in fact encourages you to do it, but it's for a very old version of Keynote.  All of my attempts to find the old tech notes referred to in the document returned nothing.  I can't even find the XML Schemas referenced in the index.apxl.gz file, such as http://developer.apple.com/namespaces/keynote2.
    It would seem to be in Apple's best interest for developers to be developing to use Apple delivery platforms, such as Keynote, but I'm not getting the impression that Apple agrees.

  • Key usage extension on Signature.initVerify method

    Hi,
    I've a problem with method in object: my application tries to verify all CA-certs stored on a p12 file, but when I added some new certs with key usage extension it never works.
    I found on initVerify(Certificate) documentation the following information: If the certificate is of type X.509 and has a key usage extension field marked as critical, and the value of the key usage extension field implies that the public key in the certificate and its corresponding private key are not supposed to be used for digital signatures, an InvalidKeyException is thrown.
    Infact if I try to use initVerify with PublicKey (initVerify(PublicKey)), it correctly works.
    Unfortunately I don't understand what is the difference between the first check (Certificate) and the second (PublicKey). Can I do a correct check also with Certificate.getPublicKey?
    Thanks.

  • StarOffice 8 CDE Icon and Document File Extension Associations

    I recently upgraded to Solaris 10 (5/08). With previous versions of Solaris, I installed StarOffice 7 from CD and it placed the nice little icon in the CDE desktop panel and it created StarOffice associations to all the typical office file extensions (ie. .doc, .xls, etc.). I would like to use the StarOffice 8 that is bundled with Solaris 10. Is there an installation step or some other way to automatically setup the CDE icon and the file extension associations?
    Thanks,

  • Bridge removing file extension after batch rename

    Hi All,
    I've been having trouble with what appears to be a problem with Bridge in Photoshop CS2. I'm well aware this is an older version but, in this case, I don't think that should matter. Here is my situation:
    After batch renaming jpeg files, I've had a problem with Bridge simply stripping off the file extension on all the newly renamed files. This never happens right away...always later. In other words, I'll batch rename a folder full of photos without issue, note that the rename was successful, and then return to that same folder a short time later to find white thumbnails and missing file extensions. This has happened exactly the same way on two different computers - and always with the delay.
    This is getting to be very annoying. Has anyone had or heard of a similar issue? Thanks very much...

    First use the menu tools / cache / purge cache for folder, if still in trouble restart Bridge holding down option key to refresh preferences

  • Unable to change File Type for specific file extensions

    Under Preferences->File Types different file extensions are assigned a file type e.g. The file extension .pkb is assigned the file type of PL/SQL. The file type of PL/SQL then opens the Code editor.
    I have a user who would prefer to open .pkb files in the SQL Worksheet editor but I am unable to change the file type to SQL Script as the option is greyed out.
    How do I change the File Type for these extensions? Is there a preferences file I need to change?
    Version: 3.2.20.09
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    There is no preference but it turns out you can manually edit one of the preferences.xml files to force PL/SQL types to use the SQL worksheet editor. For SQL Developer 3.2.20.09.87 that file is system3.2.20.09.87\o.sqldeveloper.11.2.0.9.87\preferences.xml and will be located (on Windows 7, for example) in directory C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer
    No guarantee this will work in future versions of the product, but for now you can add the following two xml blocks...
    For example, for .pls, add to <extensionToContentTypeMap ...>
                <Item>
                   <Key>.pls</Key>
                   <Value>TEXT</Value>
                </Item>
    and <userExtensionList>
                <Item>
                   <docClassName>oracle.ide.db.model.SqlNode</docClassName>
                   <userExtensions class="java.util.ArrayList">
                      <Item class="oracle.ide.config.DocumentExtensions$ExtInfo">
                         <extension>.pls</extension>
                         <locked>false</locked>
                      </Item>
                   </userExtensions>
                </Item> I researched this a while back after reading through some forum thread where someone claimed the PL/SQL file extensions got opened in the SQL editor in his environment, but without stating any specific release information. Possibly it worked for him then due to different product behavior (whether intentional or a bug), or perhaps even due to the technique described above.

  • IPhoto 11 and Picture file extensions

    Since upgrading to iPhoto 9.2.1, I've noticed that after importing, iPhoto no longer displays the picture's file extension below the pic, or in the information window.  All my files have a .CR2 extension when they are imported.  All pictures that were in the iPhoto llibrary, prior to upgrade to 9.2.1, display their file extensions below the pic, and in the information window.
    I've not been able to locate a preference that allows me to display the file extension in iPhoto...  Is it no longer possible to see the file extension in this version of iPhoto?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    I have connection issues with my AppleTV and it seams to disconnect routinely.  I haven't used it much and am trying to resolve that issue as well.  Separate from that, how do you interface directly with AppleTV.
    And by the way Bob, I'm at the point where I am rebuilding my files via another post...  Currently on step 1, and if that doesn't work, I'm going to export the entire library to a folder and then group it by file type to narrow down and change the format via preview and replace the files deleting the originals.
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    If #1 fails continue with:
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

    Try reindexing the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.
    Reindex messages.
    If that doesn't work try deleting MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3.
    Quit the application.
    You need to look in your user Library. Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mail Data/MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3.  Move the file to your desktop.
    Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the file from the desktop.
    If the application is the same, return thefile to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
    If you prefer to make your User library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    Show User Library
    You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.5. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Smart Folders - Finder - multiple file extensions

    Hi All,
    I'm only a couple of years into iOS so please forgive me if this is a really dumb question but:
    When I create a smart folder in Finder I can't seem to add a second search criteria without the original information disappearing.
    As an example: If I search for 'file extension' and '.docx' over the past seven days the search functions correctly.
    If I search for 'file extension' and '.doc' over the past seven days the search also functions correctly.
    If however I try to add both searches together for the same smart folder so that I can see both document types i've been using over the past 7 days then it returns a blank folder.  Surely i'm doing something wrong and I don't have to have two different smart folders for each file extension?
    Thanks in advance!

    Create a new smart folder by going to "File > New Smart Folder" or pressing "⎇⌘N" and create the first parameter.
    Hover your mouse over the ( + ) button on the right.
    Hold down the Option "⎇" key and the ( + ) turns into an ( ... ).
    Clicking this allows you to change "All" to "Any" and enter the file extensions you want.

  • File Extension Unkown to Safari?

    Hello,
    Not sure where this is issue fits, I received a picture file from a friend called img_4635.jpg, and the file icon is a white sheet with the "@" sign in the middle with http underneath. I assumed it was a jpg file but couldn't open it. It goes to Safari and displays a long url that I didn't understand. I was unable to open it on my Windows laptop as well, however, I found the full filename was img_4635.jpg(4.7mb).webloc(753B). I've never seen a file extension like this, and I'm wondering if there's something on the Mac that will allow me to open the file.
    tks,

    Hi
    highlight the file with your mouse, by clicking on it once - press the enter key & you should see that you can edit the name.
    alternatively, click a second time, but just on the name - again you should now be able to edit it.
