Key pad activates during call

Anyone have an issue with the phone keypad accidentally activating during a call? It doesn't happen all the time, just once in a while, with the phone held to my ear, I will start hearing the "beeps" from pressing keys on the key pad. Take the phone away from my ear, and the keypad is activated. I'll press the "hide keypad" button and continue on, but it's annoying. I've made a conscious effort to keep the sensor close so the screen won't activate, but it is still happening.
Any ideas?

I'm using a rubber Speck brand case that has sort of an upside down triangle hole cut out of it. The rubber is pretty thick. I wonder if it's thick enough to create enough distance to allow the key pad to activate, depending on how I'm holding it???

  • Is there any way to stop my I phone 4 telephone key pad disappearing during a phone call - you know you listen to the options and when you come to press the number the key pad is missing.

Every time I make a call involving chosing options I loose my keypad so I cannot enter the numbers quickly enough...so they keep telling me again what to do -its so frustrating. Have i set somrthing up for a time delay  ?

This happens to me as well. The keypad does not stay on until the end of the call, it goes out as soon as you bring your hand to it.  Sometimes I can type a key, mostly not.  I can never type a 4 during a call.  Given the prevelance of phone trees when calling a business this makes the phone as useless as an old rotary pulse phone.  I hope this issue gets some attention, or my next phone will not be an iPhone.

  • Corporate E-mail Passcode-Lock activates DURING call.

I had this on my old phone, I know it never activated during a call. My experience today was this....
My call was 4 minutes according to my call log. When the conversation ended, I looked at my phone and it was on the passcode lock screen. To end the call, I had to enter passcode to unlock THEN press top green bar to return to call then press " end call" button.
Anyone else here with the same experience ? Not to mention my ear triggers the speakerphone..... lol but that's a different issue...

I only have one account. Everything is working fine. I get email, calendar and contacts. It just activated like I guess it should but it was during a call.
My old iphone knew when I was on a call and never locked it. And I have had some lengthy calls before.

  • Getting to the phone key pad from the call icon in the Hub

Why is it that in the Phone Icon in the Hub the phone keypad cannot be found and a speed dial call cannot be made? Why one has to exit the Hub Call Icon, and then get back in the phobe Icon out of the hub, to then go to the screen with the keypad to then make a speed dial call? Why call it speed dial? Why was it it changed?

    Because its calls ie notifications

  • My Lumia Icon goes dark during calls and I cannot access the phone pad to unless I hit the power button.

My Lumia Icon goes dark during calls and I cannot access the phone pad to unless I hit the power button.  Because of this it makes it tough to put my phone on speaker or type in my v-mail password.

I've been trying to find a common denominator. It happens inconsistently. It never happened before the Denim update. When it does occur, the screen goes black immediately upon answering the call and doesn't come back until the call is ended by the calling party.
I thought it might be the proximity sensor, but when it's working normally I can see the screen go dark when it's at my ear and comes back when I take it away (tried it multiple times). I had Gestures Beta installed. I wondered if that could have an affect so I uninstalled it, but that didn't make any difference. I'm still stumped by the inconsistency. I haven't reset my phone as I didn't really want to go through that...

  • E52's auto key pad lock activate criteria?

I've the auto key pad lock activated on E52 some time ago.  It works whenever the phone is showing the home screen.  But it does not work if the screen is away from home (for example showing Contacts, Message, Menu, etc etc).  Can that be corrected (some setting somewhere?) or it's an oversight in Nokia firmware?

basically, the auto key pad will not work if there is an active application at the front... it will go into power saver mode or standby only... i havent come across any setting in the E52 yet where this can be changed.. i dont think this is a problem though..

  • Screen not turning off during call

When I am holding the phone up to my ear, the screen goes black, but if I move it away just a little bit the screen lights back up. So during calls I am hitting keys on the touchpad, placing the call on hold, muting calls, etc.
This was not a problem on my 3g. Is there a way to fix this?

This is a proximity sensor known issue, will be addressed by apple in the next update (4.1), they still in the beta3 testing:

  • Keypad blinks when used during call. Anyone know how to stop it?

Like most phones, the screen goes dark and input is stopped when you hold the phone against your head when making a call. Take the phone away from your head, and it comes back on.
With the Moto X, all this works, but when I'm dealing with an automated system, such as Verizon billing or support, when I go to press a key, the keypad blanks out, and the number isn't sent. It's like the phone thinks my hand is a head. It makes it almost impossible to "press 1 for English", and it's the biggest flaw I've found in the phone, other than absence of MHL.
I note that our new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 doesn't have this problem, and you can turn off the display blanking feature in Display setup. Is there a configuration switch somewhere that helps with this problem on the Moto X?

        Cascode,
That is a very good question. When you are trying to press a number on the key pad while a phone call is going on is your hand going over the sensors on the top of the phone? If it is, that could trigger the phone screen to shut itself off. Keep us posted.

  • No volume during calls and music

I am unable to hear any volume at all during calls - both via the handset speaker and on speakerphone. I also can not hear music when played through the speakers. I have checked that the volume is turned up full. However, I am still able to hear alarms, ringtones and notification tones. I'm hoping that this is some sort of software issue. Is there any way this can be fixed?

Hi jb15, welcome to the community!
Did you check volumes under Settings > Sound & notification?
Also, if you press the volume up key, is the phone set to Silent, Priority or Sound?

  • Nokia N8 screen going OFF during call in bright su...

    Hello Friends,
My N8 screen is going black whenever I am making calls in the bright sunlight. So I cannot view the dialler at all and unable to end the calls. This problem really annoys me a lot. Anyone expereinces this problems. Please help me in this regard.
    thank you very much,
    Shijo

Ja. it has funny tendencies. The proximity sensor turns the screen off when you bring the phone close to your ear then when you remove it could take a couple of seconds for it to come back on.
I did notice it's a bit worse when in bright sunny conditions. If the key pad was locked when you received the call it can also cause make that lag a little longer

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Different Sound Levels For Key Pad And Incoming Ca...

    I have a Nokia Lumia 520.
How do I set the volume differently so that I have:-
A quiet tone (say level 1/30) when I type numbers into the key pad for dialling numbers AND
a louder ring tone for incoming calls (say level 15/30).
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I did NOT give the link to the Users Guide as an answer to your question!!
I gave it as another source of information for you to learn more about your phone.
I gave step by step info. Try it.
Some people appriciate the help they get here, some do not.
As far as I can see your proposed solution:-
What do you want to do?
    To turn off keypress sound?
tap settings > ringtones+sound  > uncheck 'key press' in 'play a sound for'
    - fails testing for the following reasons:-
    1. There is no:-
    play a sound for
    - option in the:-
    ringtones+sounds
    - list which appear as follows in my screen:-
    SETTINGS
    ringtones + soun
    Ringer
    Off
    Vibrate
    Off
    Ringtone
    Macro

    New voicemail

  • I purchased lightroom5 but i didn't get any key to activate it

adobe did not send me any key to activate my lightroom5

In the meantime, you can download the trial version of Lightroom 5.6 and install it. You will be able to use it for 30 days. Then, when the serial number arrives, you can activate the trial version with that serial number without having to reinstall anything. And you will have full use of Lightroom during that 30 day trial. However, this assumes that you haven't been using the trial version up until now. If you have already used up your 30 day trial, then you will just have to wait for the serial number.
I'm quite surprised that it is taking so long to receive the number. When I activated my academic version I received the serial number within about 5 min.
