Key Tag in EO.xml

Question

Hi,
Jdeveloper Version is 11.1.1.3.0
<Key
Name="CountryCIdPk"
PrimaryKey="true">
<DesignTime>
<Attr Name="_DBObjectName" Value="COUNTRY_C_ID_PK"/>
</DesignTime>
<AttrArray Name="Attributes">
<Item Value="model.Countries.CountryId"/>
</AttrArray>
</Key>
Is these entries are neccessary in EO.xml?
Even the Key tag is there or not,functionality works properly.
What is the actual behaviour of this key tag?
so may i know the purpose of this Key tag in EO.xml.

we r having PrimaryKey = true in attribute tag.
Even then will it gives error?
