Key words on IWeb site

Hello, Hatman here.
Is there some way possible to insert "key words" in you IWeb site so search engines can find out similar to the capability in Dreamweaver?

First have a look at what Google has to say....

  • Iweb sites in app has disappeared

    Hi,
My iweb pages in the actual application have disappeared. Apparently they are still on my iDisk, but when I open the up iweb application, it's showing NOTHING, as if I never made any websites. Is there anyway to get this back? Can I get them from my iDisk back to the application to edit them?
It worked fine until our tech guy at school 'fixed' my computer to work with Accelerated Reader. Now, not only does it not work with Accelerated reader, but half of my files are missing/misplaced. Is there ANY way to fix this?
    Thanks so much!
    Lisa

    Lisa:
The key to your iWeb site is the domain.sites2 file that should reside in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
If you don't have a backup copy of that domain.sites2 file you'll have to rebuild your site from scratch. You can use some of the photo and graphic files that you added to your published site to help you rebuild but iWeb can't read published files, only create them. Paragraph 2.6 of this page has some more info: http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html
I wouldn't let that "tech" guy near my computer again, ever! Had he ever seen a Mac before?

  • Is there a way to identify the key words being used for SEO when I'm visiting a web site?

When I am on a web site, looking at a product for sale, is there an app or add on I can use to see what that site has for key words, meta tags etc? It would be helpful when adding products to my own site to see what works elsewhere.

Do search engines even look at those anymore? URL, title and page content are what's relevant.

  • Is it possible to add and view your key words when creating a web site from Lightroom 4?

Is it possible to add and view your key words when creating a web site from Lightroom 4?

    Hi,
I had the same problem with
    "java.lang.NullPointerException at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientimpl.html.uielib.standard.uradapter.ViewContainerUIElementAdapter.getContent(ViewContainerUIElementAdapter.java:98)"
when I included ViewUsages dynamically in an action handler (outside wdDoInit()).
The code below fixed that problem.
This code creates a new OutboundPlug for the embedding view with the embedded view as target and fires the plug.
    <i>// Create OutboundPlug
    IWDOutboundPlugInfo outboundPlug = embedderViewInfo.createOutboundPlug();
    //Create navigation link
    rootViewUsage.createNavigationTarget(outboundPlug.getName(), interfaceViewUsage, "Default");
    // fire navigation link
    wdThis.wdGetAPI().firePlug(outboundPlug, Collections.EMPTY_MAP);
    </i>
I hope I could help you. Probably you don't need the information anymore, but perhaps anybody else has the same problem.

  • How can I prevent downloading of music from an iWeb Site?

Can someone please tell me if it is possible to disable downloading of a video or music from a site created using iWeb?
I am new to this and don't even know what questions to ask, however, I want to create a site where music and/or videos can be heard/viewed but not downloaded from the site.
I have tried to research this and learned that perhaps a program like +iWeb Enhancer+ or +iWeb More+ can help me, but I'm not sure. I think I need to be able to access the code to make some changes. Is this correct? Is it something relatively easy to do?
    Thanks!

The javascript file (.js) is just a text file and you can use any plain text editor to open, edit and save it. The key word is plain text (not rtf).
For QuickTime content iWeb uses the older object/embed tag code so there are two places in the code that require the additional code. The first is in the object tag (used only by Internet Explorer on PC's). They use param (parameter) tag code (name and value).
You would enter param name="kioskmode" value="true" (must include the quote marks) in the object tag area. To keep it simple just set the insertion point before the object code closing tag (/>).
In the embed tag code you would insert kioskmode="true" before the closing embed tag code.
While you're editing this file you may also want to change autoplay="false" to "true" so viewers don't have to click the controller to start playback.
Save the file making sure not to append the .txt extension to the file if using TextEdit.

  • Merge iweb sites from multiple user accounts on same computer

With the previous iweb version, my children created their own iweb sites on their own users, but all under my own .mac account. It worked great.
But now with the new "upgraded" iweb '08, that isn't allowed anymore.
So, I created a new user on our computer for all of us to use to maintain our multiple iweb accounts on.
How can I move multiple iweb sites from multiple users on the same computer into one user?

Each of the user's work in iWeb will be contained in a single file, Domain.sites2, which can be found in this location on the hard drive for each user account. You will need to copy all of these Domain.sites2 files to an external drive, or, at the very least, burn them to a disk to make them transferable from one user account to another. A flash drive also works great for this.
Once you have made all of these Domain files accessible from the new user account that you created, you will still have a formidable task ahead of you, i.e., publishing separate sites, from separate Domain.sites2 files, to the same .Mac account/directory. In other words, bringing all of these Domain files together for access by a single user account will not solve the problem. You may very well be able to solve the problem with things the way they are, but it will involve some shuffling of Site's files on the iDisk prior to publishing.
The method I'm going to give you has worked well for me. So far, here in the forums, I've read posts from (2) other users who were also successful. Conversely, I know of at least (3) other users who have been unsuccessful with this approach. I sure hope it works for you.
Open System Preferences and go to .Mac. Turn syncing off, if it is on, and leave it off.
Now, in Finder, navigate to the current Site files on your iDisk, following this path:
    Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/NameOfSiteFolder
Drag the Site folder that is named for your site, (not the directory Site folder), back one level on the iDisk, into the Web folder. This is where some run into difficulties--you may get an error message that the folder is "in use, and cannot be moved". I have never gotten this message, and am able to move my Site's folders around with no problem on the iDisk.
If you are successful moving the folder, choose one of your other accounts on your machine, launch iWeb, and Publish all to .Mac. The existing site on the server will not be deleted. Now, go back to the iDisk and move that site folder, (the one you just published), back one level, again, to the root Web directory. Publish your next site, from your next account.
When you are finished publishing sites, just move the Site folders back to their original location on the iDisk--Web/Sites/SiteFoldersHere. All sites will be accessible from a browser using the web.mac.com/username/nameofsite url.
It is important to use the Publish all to .Mac command in iWeb. A simple Publish to .Mac command will not put the correct index.html file in place on the server.
Post back and inform us of your success.

  • Flash Intros on an iWeb site

I purchased a flash intro template off of templatemonster.com. I edited the flash intro in a trial version of Adobe Flash CS3. After I edited the template so that it had the wording I wanted I then did not know what to do to actually make it my flash intro. After I had edited it, it gave me .html, .swf and .fla files for the intro. The .html file and the .swf file actually play the intro, the .fla file does not.
After playing around for some time, I realized that the flash intro would not play because my index.html file directs the front page to be the "Welcome" page. After playing around for a bit, I changed the name of my flash intro .html file to "Welcome_.html"...the same file name as the front page. I uploaded the flash "Welcome_.html" file to the the server and BOOOOM! My flash intro plays however it is in the wrong position and does not link to the site. I believe the correct file is supposed to be the .swf version because it is centered correctly and includes buttons like "sound" and replay.
Anyways, I know I am far off with my jerry-rigging of the .html files, but does anybody out there know how to put a flash intro onto an iWeb site or how that would look on the server?

Drag the SWF file onto your welcome page in iWeb. If you don't want the control bar, uncheck it in the QuickTime inspector. Check autoplay and loop if your flash file is not set to autoplay and loop.
When you upload to the server the SWF file is in the Media folder.

  • Can I publish iWeb sites and Gallery albums in one place?

My Gallery has 66 personal photo albums of simple events (each photo with a caption). Using iWeb, I also have created a multi-page personal website of photos for each of 16 complex events (each site has a welcome page followed by 3-5 photo pages, and all pages have a few sentences of introduction). Now that my beloved Apple has spurned me, I'm hoping to get even, sort of, and post everything--all my photo albums and all my photo websites--in one place. This requires more complexity than I've seen in hunting among suggested replacments for iWeb or Gallery.
In my drooling ignorance, I can imagine a website that has a few levels. On one level are key photos for all gallery albums PLUS key photos for all websites. A user clicks on the main photo of an album or website, and it opens either an album's photos (the current gallery way) or a site's welcome page.
As best I can tell, I want too much. As promising as a site like Zangzing appears, it and others are limited to a single level of photos or to some six interior pages.
Level one shows the key photo for each gallery album AND a key , and has a grand welcome page with linkClick on an album photo and it opens all the album's photos. Click on a website photo, and it opens to s that read, say, "Albums 2000-2005," "Albums 2006-2012," "Websites 2000-2005," Websites 2006-2012." At the next level, each album and each website appears . A Even better would be page links that intersperse albums and websites in chronological order. A user click on the main photo of an album or website and it opens either
lists albums in, say, five-year clusters an  for --, perhaps one page for lots of links, maybe albums by years and websites by years.
albums top-level row of albums (like Gallery) with the websites peppered among them. Click on a website photo

PLEASE IGNORE ANY EARLIER VERSION. IT'S A DRAFT OF THE FOLLOWING QUESTION . . .
My Gallery has 66 personal photo albums of simple events (each photo has a caption). Using iWeb, I also have created 16 personal websites of photos of complex events (each site has a welcome page followed by 3-5 photo pages, and all pages have a few sentences of introduction). Now that my beloved Apple has spurned me, I'm hoping to get even, sort of, and post everything--all my photo albums and all my photo websites--in one place. This requires more complexity than I've seen in hunting among suggested replacements for Gallery or iWeb.
In my drooling ignorance, I can imagine a master website that has a few levels. On one level are key photos for all gallery albums PLUS key photos for all websites. When a user clicks on the key photo of an album or website, it opens either an album's photos (the current Gallery way) or a site's welcome page.
As best I can tell, I want too much. As promising as a site like ZangZing seems, it and others seem limited to a single level of photos or to some six interior pages (far fewer than my 16 iWeb sites). Maybe I could create a grand entrance page that has links that read, say, "Albums 2000-2005," "Albums 2006-2012," "Websites 2000-2005," Websites 2006-2012." But then I'd be burying the albums and sites themselves at lower levels.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Lost iWeb Site .... need to import current site!

    HI
My iWeb site info was lost after a destroyed computer incident.
I didn't know about the domain file that should be backed up ... I do now... but I am left with a .Mac web site that I can't edit or import.
    What should I do?
Are there products that can import the site? Maybe I can continue using a different editor?
Is there a way to add new pages to my site ... to at least link to a new site? Or is my current site now frozen in time?
    Thanks for any advice
    Lee

Ok to rant now and then; we all have at one time or another!
Maybe this will help: understand that iWeb doesn't operate like other web apps, in the sense that it does not write html as it creates. It takes the data you place in it and then converts all of it into html when you click the Publish button. In other words, iWeb does the Save As for you when it generates the html necessary for the web.
I save frequently as I work in iWeb. If you have spent hours working with the application and you have created a substantial portion of a site, it is a very good idea to stop, make a duplicate copy of the Domain file, and place it in it's own folder, in another location. There is a free automator application available here which makes this process very quick and easy.
Get used to backing up that Domain file frequently. While it doesn't happen that often, there are posts in the forums about the inability to even save your work after hours of labor in the app. If you have duplicated your Domain file incrementally as you work, you will avoid the perils of this situation.

  • Download iWeb site from .mac

    Hello
I make most of my iWeb pages (ver 1.1) at home, but sometimes I am at my vacation home. I have iLife on both machines. Can I download the site I have made which is on .Mac to my second computer AND create new pages to be uploaded to .Mac? I have tried looking around for such a command but I can't find any. I realize that any pages I make on the second machine will have to be updated on my main machine.

    PTakeshige wrote:

No, because the published files on MobileMe (previously .Mac) cannot be opened in iWeb. Only iWeb's key Domain file can be opened in iWeb, so you can transfer that to another Mac as explained in these articles — the first also applies to iWeb '06...

  • How can another person on a PC edit an iWeb site?

Can someone edit an iWeb site using a browser or another app? Is there a way to run iWeb on a PC?

    In a word NO.
If you want to do anything like this using a PC, then choose another programme.  DreamWeaver is both PC and Mac compatible, or else you need to use something like an online system such as the content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal or Joomla.

    Correct.

It's unnecessary for Apple to provide that import functionality when users can simply transfer iWeb's key Domain file to another computer:

  • Need Help Opening Previous iWeb Site

I recently got a new hard drive. I am trying to open my website "doman" file, but iWeb will not open it (...it only opens a new iweb site and asks me what template I want to use). How can I open my previous published site?

NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Creating forms for Iweb sites

MY question is about creating forms for iweb sites.
    How do you do it?
I think I read somewere that you can't do this with iweb,
so I downloaded a free trial of rapidweaver, which will give me 3 pages for
the free trial, but it says you need php.
Which I don't know if I have php on my computer, my mac5 os x,
and I am not sure what php is.
If any one could explain how I can create forms on my iweb site
in a easy to understand point form.
    That would be great!

Well I am certainly willing to try, if you could
    explain how to do this
    Thanks for your reply.
    blueform,
If you found my first post to you helpful, please mark it as such. That way people will have an easier time searching for/with a similar question about this topic.
Okay, I can't go into all the dynamics of the process as each ISP may vary enough to make my description unusable. In other words, what works with my ISP may not work with yours. You'll need to check out your ISPes position and requirements as far as this goes.
The first and most important thing to check out is does your ISP allow you to use CGI scripting such as PERL or PHP. Many small locally based ISPes allow this feature. Some large ISPes in Canada such as Bell's Sympatico give you Web space but do not allow scripting.
Next, unless you are an accomplished programmer you need to find (ideally) a free script that allows you to e-mail a form. I generally recommend something from Matt's Script Archive The scripts are are simple, come with instructions and work fairly well. There is also PHP Junkyard. I use one of their scripts for a message board I have.
Be forewarned, there is a learning curve. Also, if your ISP permits these scripts, you will need an FTP client application to upload them once you have made any necessary modifications.
As an afterthought, you might Google around and see if anyone provides a service that might suit your needs. Usually in those cases all you need to do is enter some HTML code into your iWeb page. This is not a drag-n-drop process and requires some "under the hood" work. One last point. Most of the scripts that I've dealt with will require an e-mail address to send the completed forms. If all is done according to instructions, Spammers will never see the address (you set the permissions for the file that contains your e-mail address so that only the owner can read that particular file; the owner being you). Does this give you an idea of what is involved?
