Keybard and Mouse Preferences Not Saving
We have an OS X server running with remote home folders for a number of different users. Some users have enforced preferences on them. However, on accounts that should have no enforced preferences the keyboard and mouse preferences are getting re-set on every login.
For example if I log in and change the middle click on the mighty mouse to expose, and disable spotlight keyboard shortcuts. Log out and log back in again it will have reset itself back to the system defaults. I have checked file permissions on all of the preference files and can't see anything wrong with them.
The two files that I am aware are not being saved which should are: com.apple.com.systempreferences.plist and com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist
This is getting really frustrating as I am having to change my keyboard shortcuts every time I log in to my server account. This isn't just one machine either this is a number of our iMacs.
On the server, go to the System/Library/User Template/English.lproj
This is the default user template that the system uses to create a new user home. You can edit this and add .plist's to it. First, on a client computer (I use a master client for my cloning), set the mouse prefs the way you want them. Then, copy the pertinent .plist (for the mouse settings it is: com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist)into the System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/Library/Preferences folder. Now, when you create a new home, the mouse is preset the way you want. If you do not want to affect ALL new accounts, then you can still copy the preset .plist into the users home directly (while they are logged off, of course) and get the same effect. Make sure you check the permissions of the .plist after the copy to make sure it is the same as the users. Hope this helps.

TS2662 trackpad and mouse will not scroll
On 27" iMac using OS 10.7.4, trackpad and mouse will not scroll or swipe, can point with both, click only with mouse, scroll only with keys on keyboard. What have I done now??? They are all paired with good batteries. Have checked in settings and they are enabled to scroll.
In Lion the scrolling is natural i.e. reversed to the way that computers typically scroll. Think of the scroll as grabbing the page an moving it either up or down vs moving the scroll bar down up or down. Also, the scroll bars are "hidden" by default and only show up when you are scrolling.
Are you using and Apple mouse? If you go to the system preferences and then to the "mouse" section there are options to change the natural scrolling. And if you go to System Preferences and then to "general" you can set it to show or hide the scroll bars.
If this is not what the issue is let me know and let me know what mouse you are using because there is something else that it could be. -
ITunes preferences not saved after logging out.
iTunes preferences not saved when logging out. Using iTunes11.0.4.4 Preferences are not saved when logging back in. Is this a bug or is there a file or registry key I need to fix?
ThanksHello JK,
If you used Mac's automatic Software Update... to get to 10.5.1, try this:
• Repair permissions.
• Download and install the Mac OS X 10.5.1 Update.
• Repair permissions again after the restart that completes the install.
• Test to see if problem is still there.
If problem exists, try suggestions relevant to your system from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight.

My wireless keyboard and mouse do not work on my All-In-One computer?
Q.: My wireless keyboard and mouse do not work on my All-In-One computer?
A.: If your wireless keyboard and mouse do not work even after changing the batteries, please try re-syncing them by following these steps.
1. Make sure the computer is on, plug in the USB receiver. Push the button on the USB receiver until it flashes blue.
2. While the receiver is still flashing, press the red connect button on the keyboard (Make sure the batteries are installed). The USB receiver should stop flashing after pressing the button on the keyboard. It may take up to 8 seconds to sync.
3. Repeat the same process for the mouse. Push the button on the USB receiver, then press the connect button on the mouse (Make sure the mouse is on).
Note: This applies to all MSI All-In-One computers that include the ES500W wireless keyboard and SW130 mouse."This machine has an added 4 USB ports, could this be causing a problem?
It definitely could be the source of the problem. Perhaps the PCI card was bumped loose during shipping?
Have you tried removing the card? That's where I would start.

Analyse this error in ST22 - ABAP runtime error or in SM13 - update request. The system will show the error update records in red color. Click the error & see the problem in funciton module.THis may be because of no ranges problem or any changes in print out program. Also if u have any BADI activation for the sale order & any changes in this program also leads to this error. -
FTP login and password are not saved on some sites
On some of my sites the FTP login and password are not saved
(even though the "saved" box is checked). Dreamweaver 8.0 on XP
SP2. I can export the site information and then import the same
file exported and there still will be no login or password placed
in the login or password window. I opened the exported .ste files
in notepad and found the login correct and the password incorrect.
I uninstalled Dreamveaver and reinstalled still same
problem.Ok, I just spent about 3 hours on this. Here's the latest
that I've found. I had looked at the knowledgebase and my registry
matched what was suggested. As this has been an ongoing issue for
me, I thought it was still an issue. Apparently 8.02 did have some
improvements.
I can only guess that many of the 36 sites I have in the Site
Manager lost info before the .02 update.. or I hope so.
I did however discover that there is still what could be
considered a minor bug. I went in to Manage Sites and selected edit
for all of my sites, fixing the ones that had lost their user/pass
info. I'm not positive, but I think only the last edited site kept
it's data.
I discovered after many checks on all the sites, over and
over and over, that it appears that they are now holding the data,
but, if I add the user/pass, I must not only click the OK button to
close that particular site, but I must also click the 'Done' button
before only that one will be saved.
So, I thought I was fixing logins when in fact I was only
fixing one at a time.. Completely closing 'Manage Site' seemed to
hold one new set of login data each time. Seems that it shouldn't
be this way.
But I must say, I am rejoicing at the moment, as I actually
have all my sites set up with FTP info and I am now looking forward
to hopefully adding more and maybe they'll actually be available
for the next editing session. -
Cannot Access Keyboard and Mouse Preferences
For some reason I've had lots of problems accessing the Keyboard and Mouse preference pane of the System Preferences.
Prior, I could open the pane, and whenever i switched between keyboard, mouse and trackpad, I would get overlap. Basically, bits and pieces from each setting wouldn't disappear when the new device (either keyboard, or trackpad, or mouse, etc) was selected, so everything would look mumble-jumbled.
Now, however, I can't even open the settings. I've rebooted, Repaired permissions and relaunched finder, but have had no luck. When I click on the Keyboard and mouse Button, all I get is a message in the title bar of the window itself saying: "Loading Keyboard & Mouse..." with no effect. Any ideas???I was having the same problem too. I deleted some preference file (sorry I can't remember which one, I found it here on the forums) and it started working. Sort of... Now I can actually open up the "Keyboard and Mouse" pane, but when I click on the mouse button I don't have the correct options.
I have a 2-button wheel mouse connected, but I don't have the option to assign the wheel button a function. I can't assign the left and right buttons functions either. The only option is to make the "Primary mouse button" left or right. It also has controls for tracking speed, scroll speed, and double-click speed. But I've lost the ability to assign the buttons to the functions I want them assigned to.
The even stranger part is that the buttons do what I want them to do still. My right button acts like a right-click (control-click) even though it doesn't show on the mouse preferences.
I want to be able to change the wheel button so that it doesn't activate my Dashboard but I can't. If I press too hard while scrolling up or down with the wheel the Dashboard is activated. It's so annoying... -
When I am searching the internet and using my mouse, my screen will suddenly zoom in to about double size. Clicking control and mousing will not return it back to where it was. I have no idea what I am doing to cause this to happen or how to reverse it.
Hi.
If you're using a Magic Mouse, a double tap on the mouse with one finger will zoom.
Double tap again to unzoom.

These are knowledge base articles:

Those may or may not help, but they will not hurt anything.

Mouse System Preferences not saved
I´m using a MacMini with the latest updtes and only apple harware, suddenly the mouse stoped puping up the dashboard, when I go to system preferences the scroll botton is not asigned to the dashboard, a click on it and then it works fine as long as i do not close system preferences, if I do close them then it stops working and if I reopen system preferences the button is again not asigned to the dashborad, the fact is that the preferences I define for the mouse regardless of the funcion i asign to them are not saved after closing system preferences.
Thanks for any help.
Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.4.8)Sounds like you might have a series of corrupt preference (.plist) files, or else more problems.
likely a corrupt
com.apple.systempreferences.plist and a com.apple.dockpreferences.plist files in your User/Library folder
However it might not be just that alone

ITunes library and preferences not saving
I have a Windows Vista 64-bit OS. I have downloaded latest version of iTunes 10.6.3.25 for 64-bit. The issue I am having is that after everytime I restart my computer my library is iTunes is blank and the preferences go back to default. I have only one account for the computer and it is the administrator. My iTunes folder is full but it seems that I have to load my library everytime I open iTunes. This is what it looks like when I open iTunes. If I click the 'Find music files' it will load my library. But if I restart my computer it will be gone again. If I transfer purchases from my iPod (4th gen) it will move my apps and stuff to my library but again will disappear after I restart. Any help would be awesome. iTunes have never worked for me on this computer. I keep hoping the newest version will fix it but no so far.
Many thanks.
Basically, very similar procedure as before to rebuild the other set of preference files. In the instructions in the user tip for Vista that you used before, at *step 10,* open the Roaming folder (instead of the Local folder.)
Rebuilding this particular set causes the iTunes Setup Assistant to run. When prompted to do so, don't add files to your iTunes library or you'll end up with a library full of duplicates.
The test again is to close iTunes after the rebuild and then open it again. Do you get the "Welcome to iTunes" this time, or does it launch normally this time? -
Every time I log out, any system preferences I had set up are not saving. Such as what should boot up in the dock or what programs should be in the system bar or the settings for the keyboard and mouse.
Thanks for any guidance on this issue.i did the:
chmod -RN ~/Library/Preferences
workks great and now my preferences are saving, but my MAIL preferences not, at least i fix one problem.
i found this:
" WillytheKidd
what I did or seem to have found is that if I do a clean install of Lion and do not use the Snow Leopard preferences from the Time Machine Backup I have I do not have a problem. I have tried several ways to fix this and the only thing that worked for ME is a complete clean install OS and apps. "
I used the preferences from my TM, maybe thats the problem.
