Keyboard and Mouse Not Functioning

Hello folks,
I have a T60. Once Windows loads up, the internal keyboard and mouse do not function. They function before Windows loads (in Bios config, etc.) and the keys to turn on the spotlight work. An external USB keyboard and mouse work perfectly.
As far as I know, this is completely random. It's driving me crazy.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Chris

Chris, welcome to the forum,
did the advice in the other thread you posted in yesterday not help? There is a link to  a possible solution in another thread here. You need to feed the boards with information; especially what you've tried, but didn't work - members get hungry
What happens in safe mode? Does the keyboard et al work as expected? Have you tried deinstalling them in safe mode through device manager and then restarting?
Thanks

    Hi,
    I am 24'' iMac user.
I have installed boot Camp 3.0 on Windows 7, all devices functions well except bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Both of them cannot be found and paired.
Any one know how to slove this problem?
    Thanks.

Have you tried reading the many other posts on this forum that talk about this issue? It seems that by default the services are not enabled for some peripheral devices. Try right-clicking the bluetooth icon, selecting "show my bluetooth devices" (or similar i dont ahve it in front of me), then right click the keyboard/mouse, go to the Services tab and make sure the services are enabled.

hi i installed wrong iousbfamily on osx and now my login screen is frozen, keyboard and mouse not working plz help

How and why did you install that?  What steps did you take in that process.  I can then help with some steps to undo them.

Thanks for the information, that is exactly what I needed.
If you are having the enter issue when using the wired KB from your old computer that sounds software related with the blog site.
What web browser do you use when on that website?
Connect your wireless equipment back and if you continue to have the issue with the letters repeating then you should inquire about a replacement for what is referred to as "sticky keys".  With it being a new unit this shouldn't be an issue.
Let me know if you have other questions.

  • Ultraslim wireless keyboard and mouse not working

Hi ,  I purchased the Lenovo Ultraslim Wireless Keyboard & Mouse (pn: 57Y4700) about 4 months ago for use with my T60 laptop (which i use with a docking station and large lenovo monitor at work).
Everything was woking fine until last Monday when I can into work after the weekend and neither the mouse or keyboard worked. I replaced the batteries in both, rebooted the machine several time, switch the USB ports for the nano receiver, but nothing seems to have worked.
I looked online for troubleshooting options, but did not find anything.
The mouse and keyboard don't seem to have a "sych" button - if I recall correctly everything worked right out of the box.
My theory is that the nano reciever was damaged (not sure how) -- but don't know how to proceed:
    can the nano reciever be replaced;
    any other options to troubleshoot;
any chance that this could be a software problem
    Thanks

    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I have read your post on your wireless keyboard and mouse not working with your desktop, and I would be happy to help you! To begin, I need to ask you a few introductory questions:
What is the Product and Model Number of your desktop?
What version of Windows are you using?
Is this a recent issue, or has it been like this since day one?
Are you using a USB hub to connect your peripherals or is it directly plugged into the computer?

  • HP notebook keyboard and mouse not working

    Hi
I spilled tea on my notebook. Now the system boots but keyboard & mouse do not work. Therefore I am not able to
login at the windows screen. When I hardboot, on pressing esc it goes to boot menu, but then the keyboard stops working
so I cannot go to safe mode or recovery mode. I also tried pressing F11 to enter BIOS, but it does not work.
I can however access it via LAN and since I had shared the C drive, I was able to recover the data. Do you have any idea
how I can restore the system now ? I do not have the recovery disks.
Are there any particular function keys to press while booting ?
Thanks a lot for your help

    Thoughts on a Soggy System:
Have you tried the obvious -- connecting an external keyboard and mouse?  If you are not near a store where you can buy these, you can order them online as a set.  Almost anything would do and Windows 7 and 8 install basic drivers for most keyboards and mice without problems when the system comes online.
If you have not waited for several days for things to REALLY dry out before attempting to get back onto the system, then you may get away with this yet - if you WAIT for a few days.  Chances are not great, but ... ?
If you can get the system to a repair shop, it is not terribly expensive to have the keyboard / touchpad replaced -- assuming that is all that is wrong with the system -- and the repair is not a lengthy process.  This might be something you can do yourself if you are skilled, disparate, in a tiny spot on the planet somewhere (without a repair shop), or like these things...
We can check for part numbers and all of that if you are interested.  You can search for for yourself, too.
    Start at
    Support and Drivers
Enter your information -- Look along the colum and Click on Manuals.  You are looking for the Maintenance Manual.
If you do not find it, provide your Exact Product number and I will look for you.
    Locate the Notebook Product Number
I am pretty sure you are going to have to have some sort of keyboard control over that system to do more than just use the hard drive to do a hard recovery of the data.  You are not at that point until you determine that you cannot access the data through the computer itseslf...
You can always send the system to HP and have it repaired.  It is not free unless you have the warranty for it - but it is not horrible to do;  HP makes the process pretty easy.  It might be worth checking if you do not have a local option available!
    Contact HP - USA
    Good Luck!
    Kind Regards,

  • External keyboard and mouse not working in closed clamshell mode

Hi - can someone help with this strange issue.  Yesterday in closed clamshall everything was working fine. Today I cannot use my external keyboard and mouse.  Note the external monitor does show the screen (after the blue flicker etc), but keyboard and mouse is just not detected.
Using Mac OS X (10.7.5).  Tried fiddling the "mirror" settings etc in the display preferences but nothing seems to help.  Really annoying....please help

    don't worry - figured it out !

  • External keyboard and mouse not recognized after waking from sleep

This started happening all of a sudden. It was working fine before that. When I disconnect the power cable, keyboard, and then connect them back, its not recognized. To make it recognize the keyboard and mouse, I have to logout and login or restart the laptop. I looked at this related post, but the PRAM reset fix did not work for me : http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=870482
Any idea how to fix it?
    OS version: 10.9.2
    MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid 2012
Processor 2.9 GHz Intrel Core i7
    Memory 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I have a similar problem on our G3 iBook with Panther. Most of the keys don't work, and of the four or five that do, they print only gibberish.
For a while I had control of the "C" key, and I was able to start from the Installation CD-ROM. I ran Disk Utility. It found and repaired a whole bunch of permissions and reported no problem with the hard disk. But I still cannot use the keys, and since then I've lost the use of the "C" also.
Because I cannot use the keyboard, I cannot type in my administrator's password, and for that reason I cannot use System Preferences to start from the Installation CD-ROM. I did not see the Hardware Test on the CD-ROM, but it sounds interesting.
Any ideas on how to get back to the CD-ROM when my keyboard doesn't work?

  • Macbook Pro main keyboard and mouse not working!!! Help desparately needed

    Dear anyone!
My the main keyboard and mouse are not working!!! Right now I connected an external keyboard and external mouse to the usb port, and those are working.
What should I do to make the main keyboard and mouse work?
Note that this started to happen when I was using Parallel (Windows on mac)
    Any input is GREATLY appreciated!!!
    Thanks!

Hopefully someone will be able to recognize what is going on here and be able to help you. If not, are you in Madison, Wisconsin? If so, I believe you have an Apple Store. You can always make an appointment with the genius bar and get help that way. The genius bar is free. Your keyboard problem sounds like some sort of a software glitch to me, and it shouldn't be too hard for someone knowledgeable to fix.
There is one thing you can do which might or might not help, but it is a good thing to do on a regular basis. Go to your Applications folder and find your Utilities folder and then find Disk Utility and drag it down to the dock. Open it and click on your hard drive by brand name in the left column and then on the First Aid tab. Click on "Repair Disk Permissions" and repeat until all disk permissions have been repaired. It might take several times. You can safely ignore the SUID warnings--they are a known issue which will probably be fixed later on. Repairing permissions is something you should always do before and after installing software--it's just good practice and will prevent many problems that can arise if you don't do this on a regular basis.
    Good luck!

  • Ultraslim Plus Wireless Keyboard and Mouse not connecting

I just bought the Ultraslim Plus Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, but I can't get either to work.  My machine (ThinkPad X230-2324-HQ4) does not have a CD drive for me to use the install CD, so I found and downloaded the driver from your support site:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-77112
I installed the driver properly and restarted my computer, but neither the keyboard or mouse will connect still.  I've checked the batteries, and I've verified that my ThankPad's Bluetooth drivers are up to date and working properly, but I still can't seem to get it to work.  I've found posts on here from people with similar issues, but they seem to all be related to the Ultraslim, not the Ultraslim Plus.  The Ultraslim Plus does not include a USB dongle for connection.
    Please help!

The Ultraslim Plus Wireless Kit is Wireless 2.4G solution, it is not Bluetooth solution. It has a dongle when shipping. Maybe you can check the mouse or Keyboard inside and find the dongle. You can open the mouse battery bin, it should be a dongle at top of two batteries. If you still can not find the dongle, I suggest you call the Lenovo help center since you don't have the dongle.

  • Keyboard and mouse not working on boot??

    Hi,
on boot up, my mouse and keyboard tend to stop working, and when searching around, it all seems to point to editing the xorg.conf. my questions are how to edit the xorg.conf through a live cd? I've gotten as far as mounting the file system, but get an error when using these:
    mount -t proc proc proc/
    mount -t sysfs sys sys/
    mount -o bind /dev dev/
Could someone possibly walk me through this process?
    thanks in advance!!

    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … n_problems
If Xorg will not start, or the screen is completely black, the keyboard and mouse is not working, etc., first take these simple steps:
        * Check the log file: cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
        * Make sure that HAL has been started prior to running Xorg:
    # /etc/rc.d/hal start
        * Install input driver (keyboard, mouse, joystick, tablet, etc...):
    # pacman -S xf86-input-evdev
Did you install the appropriate input driver?
You might still need xf86-input-keyboard and xf86-input-mouse, in addition to xf86-input-evdev.
