Keyboard: AZERTY - QWERTY

Hello,
being new at FCE, I'm wrestling with my keyboard shortcuts. When I want to 'undo' I have to use 'command W' instead of 'command Z'. I guess I'll have to change my settings somewhere?
I also have many questions concerning imagesizes (16:9, 4:3, PAL, PRO-PAL etc...), but that will be for later. First thing first
Can anyone recommend me a good book (or site)?
tnx

The keyboard shortcuts are based on the actual key strokes not on the letters attached to the keys. Either you can memorize and work with a new set of shortcuts (Cmd-A to quit for instance) or you have to use a standard QWERTY keyboard.

  • Physical keyboard is qwerty on an azerty asus transformer, only in firefox

on an azerty asus transformer (Belgian model), the physical keyboard behaves in firefox as a qwerty keyboard regardless of the locale.
This only happens on firefox, and the virtual keyboard behaves normally.
Is there something that I should configure ?

    Hey Rémi
Thanks for reporting this. There is currently an [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=669361 open bug] investigating this issue. I'm not sure if there's a workaround at the moment. It would be best to follow activity in the bug report if one is posted.

  • Keyboard- Azerty to Qwerty migration issue

    Hi.
Have an issue with a qwerty keyboard. I used to have a french azerty keyboard out of which I migrated to my brand new macbook air in an english environment.
First of, keyboard values are not working properly as even though i switch language input source, several input buttons are not reflecting their values properly.
Second, in order to solve another issue -keyboard backlight- I was told to act on the F5 and F6 buttons. Didn't work out either.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks.

Just in case, what model is your macbook air? 2010 models don't have backlit keyboards.
You can tell what model it is by clicking on the apple at the top left of the screen and "about this mac". If it says Core2Duo processor and you bought it brand new on 2010-11 then it won't have keyboard backlight.

  • Switch keyboard from qwerty to azerty?

I already have a french mcbook pro and I want to use the spanish keyboard after changing it with the flag but the keyboard appears in qwerty and I want to switch it to have it in azerty without changing the language, could you help me please?

    OK.
I want to use the spanish keyboard
    OK.
after changing it with the flag
    Huh?!
Do you mean to say that you enabled the Input Menu (identified by a flag icon), and you enabled one of the two Spanish keylayouts, and you chose it (which is shown by the Input Menu icon changing to a Spanish flag)?
I want to switch it to have it in azerty
Impossible. The Apple-supplied Spanish keyboard layouts are based on QWERTY. You cannot change them to AZERTY. I have to disappoint you, but, to my knowledge, only the French and Belgian keylayouts are AZERTY. There are tools you can use to make your own AZERTY-based Spanish keylayout, if that's what you want.
    without changing the language
Language choice has nothing to do with it.

  • Will a Qwerty Keyboard cover make my Azerty keyboard fully qwerty?

A Belgian friend is giving me her old Macbook Air, but I'm wondering if I change the setting on the Mac to Qwerty, will the keys work exactly as a qwerty keyboard?
    e.g. typing A brings out Q, typing M brings out ;
If I get a Qwerty Keyboard protector so I don't notice the difference in appearance, will this help?

What if I change the mapping through the system settings (so I no longer require the onscreen keyboard)

  • Accents with french keyboard azerty

I would like to know how to use the accents with a french azerty Keyboard. Has somebody found the solution?

I see that many of the common uses are upfront on the keyboard.
To use the circumflex (to the right of P) and grave (to the right of ù), press the accent key, then the letter that goes under it.
For tilde, press ⌥ (alt or opt) +n simultaneously, release and type the letter to go under it.

  • Screen sharing / Azerty - Qwerty

    Hi,
I can perfectly do screen sharing with my Mac Book Pro (OS X 10.5.7) and my old G5 (OS X 10.4.11). But when viewing my G5 screen on my Mac Book Pro, when inputting text (folder names, input fields, text editing, ...) in the G5 screen, this is always done in Qwerty and I would rather want this is in Azerty. International settings in the system preferences are the same on both computers, I use Azerty also on both computers. Can I change this so I can edit text always in Azerty when doing screen sharing ?
    Tnx,
    m.

If I change the input method to "U.S." (in the International system preference), when viewing the G5 screen with the Mac Book Pro, I can type text in azerty on the G5 screen. The input method on the Mac Book Pro stays at "Belgian". So this helps as a workaround for my problem (with shortcut key for switching input methods), but I found it rather unlogical since the U.S. input method in linked to qwerty (?) ... If somebody has a better solution, feel free ...
    Grtz,
    m.

  • How to enable an apple french (azerty) wireless keyboard to type in french whilst retaining the normal inbuilt qwerty keyboard typing in english?

Hi there, I recently bought an apple wireless azerty French keyboard to go with my English macbook air, as for my degree I often have to type in French. However, upon connecting it to the macbook air it instantly started typing as though it had the qwerty layout and only by going on system preferences and changing the language & text imput sources to French was I able to get it to type in the correct azerty manner.
The problem I have is that this also changed my macbook's inbuilt qwerty keyboard to the azerty format, and so I wondered if anyone could tell me how I can make the wireless azerty keyboard instantly be recognised as typing in the french format when I turn it on, whilst retaining my inbuilt keyboard's qwerty layout, rather than constantly having to change them both in system preferences?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    That's not possible.
But switching keyboard layouts is very simple.  Either use the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen or the keyboard shortcut apple/command plus space.
If you don't see the ¨flag¨, check the box for Show Input Menu in Menu Bar in the Input Sources pane.
If the keyboard shortcut doesn´t work, you may have to change the shortcut for Spotlight, which is often the same.

  • Satellite A110-149: Sometimes keyboard changes from AZERTY to QWERTY

HI, and sorry for my poor English speaking (I'm French and novice at English)
I have a problem with my laptop: Satellite A110-149, running Windows XP, bought in January 2007.
Sometimes, for unknown reason, my keyboard (AZERTY) changes to QWERTY, no matter what software I'm using.
I've upgraded the drivers in the configuration panel, but nothing changes.
What to do please? How could I repair it?
    Thanks.

    I have only one explanation.
You have configured the keyboard layout with two different languages.
By pressing of SHIFT + ALT the OS changes the layout language and the button assignation.
Maybe during the fast typing you have accidentally activated this key combination and the keyboard layout switched

  • Onscreen keyboard doesn't display all characters in QWERTY mode in iOS7

Since installing iOS7, the onscreen keyboard has been sluggish.   Tonight, all of a sudden, the onscreen keyboard doesn't display all characters on the keys in QWERTY mode - only the B, N, comma, and period keys show their characters on their key face.  All of the other white keys are blank.  When you press one of the blank keys, the character does display on the key face momentarily and does show in the text box that you are typing in.   This only seems to occur in QWERTY mode.  If you switch to QWERTZ or AZERTY software keyboard layouts, the keys do display their characters on their key face.  If you split the keyboard in QWERTY mode the all keys display normally.  This occurs in any application.
    We've tried:
    Turning off and turning off
Resetting by holding the sleep/wake and home button

What kind of problem that make me can not ask the store directly? Even me, I couldn't imagine the reason but I'm surprised how your doubt come. Actually, whatever I think it's my privacy.
Anyway, I tried finding inquiry form or customer support email on the Hong Kong online store page but I couldn't find anything. I think if there're anyone got an experience about this here, no matter he/she will work for retail store/Apple store or not. (or only store representator can answer this question?) The opinion could be varity from the people, I think. But it looks like I just answer from this community representator. No one have more idea or think different.
