Keyboard Battery cap

I have a Wireless Keyboard A1255 and have lost the battery cap. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

I have your solution for a MC184LL/A apple wireless keyboard battery cap. I was a bit annoyed at the fact that there were no spare parts to be found, and paid the 80 bucks for my Wireless blue tooth slim keyboard jumpoff, and told to buy a new one. Somehow lost the battery cap, and didn't want to pay out again, so here you go.
Go to Your favorite hardware store's, Hardware Section, your looking for their 2" long, 5/8" thick Hex Screws probably at the bottom with other larger screws. should cost $1. 9/16" is the technical width of the apple battery cap, great size choice apple, but 5/8" screw works for my solution.
Tinfoil about 1"x3" wide strip fold up enough so it will fit inside battery compartment.
Put in the 3 batteries flat side up, put the piece of tinfoil on the last battery, screw in the hex screw till its snug, press power, you have a working bluetooth keyboard. (Looks frankensteinesque) So if you have a metal saw, you could trim it down a bit and make your own more ergonomic caps.
Until I get a metal saw, Im working with this: (see picture)

  • The wireless keyboards battery cap has stuck

I have an iMAC with a wireless keyboard.
The wireless keyboards battery cap has stuck. I have tried opening it with screwdrivers, coins and even spoon handles but nothing can open this.
This was purchased under 1 year ago. I called the company that supplied the product (Jigsaw24.com) and they said they will not fix the issue or replace the item without me incurring charges. Surely this item is still covered under the standard Apple Care Warranty or even covered under their company warranty? The cap is still running flush with the end of the keyboard and has not been forced. If i'm not able to access the battery compartment and change the batteries this item is useless.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Wireless Apple Keyboard Battery Cap Stuck

I have one of those bluetooth unibody keyboards and the battery screw-in end piece is stuck. I am almost certain I did not over torque it when I installed the batteries and Ive been putting in a lot of effort to get it off but it just wont budge. Anybody have this happen to them and find a solution? Thanks in advance.

Solved. After using some vice grips and a nickel I finally got it open. It had unfortunately corroded and formed a tight bond as a result.

  • After upgrading to Maverick my apple wireless keyboard battery drain too quickly (30% in 1 day)

Just as the topic's tittle, after upgrading to Maverick, along with many small errors, keyboard battery draining is by far the most not-so-pleasuring thing to deal with. My keyboard used to consume roughly a few battery percent per week. After the OS upgrade, still with the same using habit, it went from 80% down to 60% the last week, and from 60% to 30% just yesterday. Does anyone else here get this and any solution please? Much appreciate it! Thank you!

Software bugs are killing not only IT industry (just look the drop in PC sales, and also a new sharp drop in tablet sales!), but industry in general.
The reason for this is very simple: wrong people are on wrong jobs. As simple as that.
To introduce this kind of bug, the drain of keyboard battery after installing an "advanced" version 100 (or so) operating system, and have this kind of bug a Jimmy from 3rd grade would not had made, is beyond comprehension.
I trace these kind of stupidities for at least 30 years. While Microsoft can be forgiven as they started it all with a poorly conceived operating system foundation by a few teenegers and later it was impossible to go back to square one, the Apple on the other hand had all things available to them beautifully: the most advanced, architecturally, operating system foundation - Unix. And they failed too. They put an awkward GUI lipstick on that beautiful Unix operating system, with a lot, a LOT of bugs!?
Again: the reason for all of this is that throughout the decades and decades, the wrong people were put on the wrong jobs. Nowadays VERY small percentage of educated people work on software systems development. There are no computer scientists, computer engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers anymore working for those companies like Apple. Throughout the decades of mis-management they had been replaced by all sorts of inadequate occupations: sociologists, psychologists, English majors, shoe salesmen, even Preachers .
And the result we see: a never ending stream of stupidities like this one. If chimpanzees had spent all this time, all these intangible and tanglible investments, on creating operating systems I assure you they would do a MUCH better job than these dilletants

  • How can I get my wireless keyboard battery access to open. It's like the bloody thing has seized up and won't open?

How can I get my wireless keyboard battery access to open. It's like the bloody thing has seized up and won't open? Tried the coin...nope.  Tried a screw driver...nope! Even tried WD-40 - nope! Or does this mean it's now in the boat anchor pile!

They are designed for coins... is this your first time changing the battery? Make sure you are twisting in the right direction and make sure you are pushing down on it and applying pressure at the same time you turn.

  • Keyboard & Battery levels query (2 week old 27" iMac)

    Hi,
Keyboard battery level stuck at 100% then suddenly dropped to 67%. Turned keyboard off then on and since then the level has been stuck on 100%.
Mouse battery level indication OK as it ticks down nicely. I've been using rechargeable batteries and they are lasting better than the Apple supplied Energiser batteries despite being old and useless when used in torches / GPS etc.
This issue is not important as I have a plentiful supply of batteries - Just interested. Thanks.

    HI,
Rechargeable batteries are definitely the way to go!
Try resetting the PRAM to see if makes a difference in the battery levels.

  • I lost my Bluetooth keyboard battery cover.

I lost my Bluetooth keyboard battery cover on my way to work yesterday.
    Can I buy the cover???

The same thing happened to us in the office. My boss took one of the cabinet locks (from Knoll office furniture) which happens to be 1/4 inch, cut it between the 3rd or 4th rib of the lock with a hacksaw and vice grip, placed the batteries in and used duct tape to hold everything in place. The duct tape works better than the electrical tape because electrical tape tends to stretch. Good Luck, apple doesn't sell this piece as a replacement so get creative!

  • Lumia 2520 Power Keyboard Battery Level

Apologies to those of you who are still waiting/looking for one of these. Got my free one this week. For those that do have one, I guess you have noticed that the Battery icon in the system tray on the desktop lets you see both the tablet and the keyboard power status, Charged, percentage, not charging, etc.
My tablet gets to 100% just fine. The keyboard has never seen above 87%, and at that point actually says 'not charging'. I can drain it some, and plug it back in and it will show the keyboard charging, but it hasn't got above 85-87% and then says it has quit. What do you guys see? Normal? Problem?

My Lumia 2520 with Nokia Power Keyboard shows Battery #1: Fully charged (100%) and Battery #2: 0% available (plugged in, charging). However, even after more than 8 hours plugged in and showing "charging", Battery #2 never shows more than 0%.
The tablet was a used gift, but the keyboard is new, ordered online from Verizon. It has done this from the first time using the tablet with the new keyboard. As far as I know, the tablet never had a keyboard attached until now. All keyboard functions appear to work properly and all tablet functions appear to work properly. I used the tablet with the keyboard for several hours unplugged and the Battery #1 disharged to about 80%. When I plugged it in, Battery #1 charged up to 100% and then it showed Battery #2 plugged in and charging, but never changed from 0% available on Battery #2.
I have tried the Power button and +Volume button technique with no change. It does go throught the stages of showing 0%, not charging on both batteries and then after resetting it goes back to showing the same issue of never showing an increase in Battery #2charge % beyond 0%.
Nokia telephone tech support had me go through that same exercise with no fix. I also refreshed Windows to see if a driver was corrupt with no joy.
None of the nearby Verizon, AT&T or Microsoft stores have the Nokia Porwe Keyboard in stock so I ordered another keyboard from Verizon and if it works then will get a refund on this one that isn't working.
If anyone has any other ideas on how to get the keyboard battery to show that it is charged beyond 0% then please let me know so I won't be returning a good keyboard thinking it is defective.

  • Keyboard battery status in yosemite

I keep loosing contact with my keyboard and it occurred to me the battery might be low. I went into System prefs to check the keyboard battery status and it is not there. It was in Mavericks. Am I missing something? How do you know your battery status?? And if anyone knows why I might be losing connection. I have  a new iMac 5k Retina (yay).

Ok, I feel silly. I rebooted and the battery status is there. There is something weird happening and just as soon as I pinpoint it I can rely on me to let someone know. Meanwhile, I will continue to play with my new machine.

  • Magic mouse and keyboard battery level fluctuation

So, I have been using the aluminum 2-battery keyboard and mighty mouse, both about three years old, and I noticed today that the bluetooth battery indicator has been all over the place.
I've been working solidly for about two hours, and happened to check the battery levels for both when I first turned them on: Keyboard - 55%, Mouse 94%. After working for around a half hour, I got an alert that the keyboard battery was low, and it read 19%. I ignored it, and a couple minutes later it was 15%. I kept working, and checked after another half hour or so, and the battery indicator read 94% for both the keyboard and the mouse, then I shortly got a low battery alert for the keyboard, and the indicator again read 19%. I also lost connection with the keyboard two or three times during this period.
Running Mavericks on 2009 15" unibody MBP

Most users have been observing unusual battery level readings since the 10.6.7 update came out. Like you, many users are reporting that their Magic Mouse and wireless keyboard battery levels are much higher than expected and much higher than they had been previously before the 10.6.7 update. I have observed this also. It seems to be some sort of bug and may eventually be corrected with a future update. It really won't cause you a problem and there seems to be nothing that can be done about it now from the user's standpoint.

  • Minor Keyboard Issue: Caps Lock and Num Lock indicator lights are wrong.

For a few hours, I have been having a small issue with my PowerBook G4 keyboard. The green indicator lights for Number Lock and Caps Lock are indicating incorrectly.
Thus, in order to be able to type lowercase, I must keep the Caps Lock key light on, which subtly annoys the **** out of me [Apple edited out "heck" ]. Num Lock is worse, because I can actually see it; it isn't usually covered by my left hand. Very distracting.
Rebooting did not resolve this issue. Neither did monkeying with the Keyboard system preferences. If I could just turn the lights off altogether that would be fine with me.
This is a recent 15-inch PowerBook G4 1.67 Ghz, with the dual-level dvd burner and (I believe) the internal keyboard is USB, now, instead of ADB as (I believe) many of the older ones had been, so many of those hacks like fkeys and Ucontrol and so on are not options (I believe).
    Any ideas? Thanks,
    Nick

I finally got it working again, I took the power out and the battery out while it was running. I made sure there were no USB/FireWire/PC-Card stuff connected when I did this. When it booted back up it was normal again.
I also figured it happened because I put in a kyocera EVDO pc card into the laptop while it was in sleep. When it woke back up it went nuts and had to be rebooted several times.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard Battery drains extremely fast?

I bought my iMac in Sept 2011.
It came with the Apple bluetooth keyboard.
But it has been draining battery extremely quickly since the past 3-4 months!
It began when I noticed I need to change my AA alkaline batteries once a week, without shutting off the keyboard.
Then laterI knew it'll cost me a fortune doing so, so I bought the apple rechargable batteries instead.
After using the rechargable batteries, I need to change batteries once every few days, and I have to turn off the keyboard while I am away.
But for the past few weeks, it's been worse!
Like for the past 5 days, I need to change batteries once a day! And I have turned off the keyboard like 14 hours a day while I'm not home!
Is there any other user having the same problem as me?
Some help me solve this battery problem!

Just found this. Sounds similar to my problem except it is the keyboard and not the mouse:
Recently my late 2009 iMac i7 has started making a rapid beeping noise and the mouse goes crazy. When you pass the mouse pointer over the top menu the menu items look like they are being rapidly selection from left to right. If you press the mouse (Magic Mouse) the noise and rapid selections will stop until you let go of the mouse. If you can manage to reboot the computer, this activity may or may not stop. Turning off the mouse and/or keyboard (both wireless) does not seem to stop the problem.
I have nothing to indicate whether this is related or not but this has started happening since Vmware Fusion just pushed out an update a few days ago. Once could almost describe the behavior as if the Tab or some other key on the keyboard is stuck. However, it's not. Or, at least it does not appear to be. I am using one of the older White Apple Bluetooth keyboards.
Any clues would be most appreciated.
